The "Conversations" are being interrupted by an important blog that was sent in...
Recently in an interview hosted by the Wreckers being used to generate some excitement for the U.S. tour, Keith Urban made two statements which seem to be total contradictions:
First, when asked about his relationship with the audience: "For me it's very spiritual because it's that connectedness, that oneness, you know. I love those moments in shows and I go to a lot of shows, too, and there's something extraordinary when somebody hits a note when they're singing or they play something and everyone in the audience does this...or they all do that at the same time and that, that's an extraordinary thing. I mean I don't know that guy over there and he doesn't know me but we just reacted at the exact same moment and then we're back down again. It was just a fleeting moment. I find those moments just...Godly, quite literally beautiful. And that's what I'm seeking...not to find, but to free myself up, to be in those moments."
Then in almost the next breath he makes this statement about touring:
"I mean when my wife is with me that's when I'm the happiest. I mean straight up...that's the hardest part of touring for me...is being away from her. And so the tour is structured a little bit weird so that I'm out on the road for like 10 days and then I go to Australia for like a week and then I'm back over here for 10 days and then I go for a week and then...it's an odd way to tour but it was either that or not tour at all this year. And that was, that was...what I was weighing up. You know, quite honestly for a moment I thought maybe I shouldn't be touring this year, you know. But this seems like...it's hopefully a workable way to do it. It's an enormous amount of travel that I'm undertaking so, you know, it'll be what it's going to be."
This seems to be almost two different men. We get it Keith, you love your wife, but I don’t think it’s good business for you to act like you are doing the fans a favor by touring. Keith needs to remember that it’s the people buying the tickets that create the moments referred to in the first quote, without the fans there is no moment. It’s not good business to make people feel like you don’t need them when your shows are not sold out and the ticket brokers are selling some tickets to shows for less then face value.
I think Keith needs to take a step back and evaluate what he wants in his life. If he just wants to be at the side of his wife and be a good husband, that’s fine. If he doesn’t want to take the time to rehearse and make sure he gives the fans a great show, if he’s just going to phone in the 10 days of performances in order to get back to his wife in Australia, then he needs to cancel the tour and refund the public their money. It would be more ethical to return the public their money so they can buy tickets to concerts put on by performers who want and care about their careers.

Well, I have to admit to being somewhat offended by his comments about touring. Either WANT to be here, or don't bother. Two years ago, I would never have believed that he would be disinterested in playing music and would rather hold his pasty wife's purse. It's pathetic.
Well it seems the first part about the audiences is actually pretty articulate and well thought out... but when he gets to the "wife"... well all I can take out of that is he wont be allowed to tour unless he flies back to Aus. and reports in to grandma. And he sounds very unsure if thats gonna work out in the end. Doesnt sound like hes too thrilled by it though.
Bravo - great blog! The man needs to make up his mind. I'll be waiting to hear how his performances are after one or two of those breaks to see the wife before I will even consider attending a show. There are a lot of artists who willingly make the sacrifices necessary to have a successful career. If that's not what Keith wants anymore, I can accept that and will move on to other artists who still display the passion that Keith used to.
"...it's an odd way to tour but it was either that or not tour at all this year. And that was, that was ...what I was weighing up."
This part seems an odd thing to say. Makes one wonder who laid out these ground rules for touring...he or someone else?
And, btw - "whipped" ain't sexy, blech.
WOW!
I can't believe that he actually considered not touring in order to be with her. Sounds like he may have replaced one vice for another.... he's obviously still conflicted and that time in rehab wasn't quite enough if you ask me. I thought he'd found at least one ball whilst incarcerated....
Amazing! Who would have ever believed that the man who said that music was like breathing would make that statement.
I agree if he wants to tour, then shut up and tour. If he wants to be a good husband and be by his wonder-stick, I mean, wife, then be by her.
Just don't make people feel as if he is doing them a favor by touring. I certainly would not want to be on the receiving end of a show after he has flown back and forth to Oz and most definitly not at a show that he felt conflicted about.
He needs to be straight up about it. If his wife and family are more important then his music career, then he needs to do what Garth Brooks did and announce his retirement and complete this Tour. I have no problem with someone setting priorities in their life, but there's a right way to do it and a wrong way to do it. Making your fans feel like your doing them a favor by touring is definitely the wrong way to do it.
He is very confused at the moment isn't he.
Is it at all possible NK could share some of this flying? How one-sided is this marriage.
He said he doesn't take life for granted anymore, well he sure is taking his fans for granted.

Yes, this is a very telling point isn't it? But if you'll notice, kidman doesn't really say too much about Urban in interviews, well not really specifically. Its mostly just statements, in general, about how she likes being a part of a "family" again, though again I have to point out, what are the adopted kids, is it the fact that they are actually cruise's kids? And oh yes, she stands 100% behind his battle with sobriety, But meanwhile, as she's busy making this Aussie pic, all I'm hearing from her is how she hopes she can do a hot and heavy sex scene with jackman, and how great they are for being out mingling with the local folk. I think that would be an excellent next blog post... what exactly is her take on Urban, since it seems very apparent, nauseatingly so, what urban has to say about her.
Wow you all are so hyper-critical. I think Keith loves his wife and yet loves to tour and perform, and perhaps is torn between the two and came up with a compromise for the sake of those of us who want to see this fantastic talent and being with his lovely wife.
I saw him in concert last night in Phoenix and he was brilliant!
Geez, so lighten up people!

What you are saying may be true. But is it hyper-critical to be upset with the fact that the only person coming up with compromises to make this relationship work is Keith. Why should Keith be the only one making sacrifices for the sake of making the relationship work. Why should the fans who are going to the first concert after one of these breaks he's programmed have to worry that he won't make it back from Austrailia on time because of flight delays, or that they will get a less then stellar performance from him because he's severely jet lagged.
Seems to me that in this farce, compromise is a one way street. Keith does it all.
Tell me please, what compromises has she made? From what I have read - not one and there is no plan for her to make any. In fact, she has signed on for more movies.
I don't know about anyone else but I've kinda noticed that everything about these two is onesided. The wedding was all about her and not a whole lot about Keith, maybe I wasn't looking on the right sites but all I ever saw were pictures of Nicole, her Dad, Sister, Daughter and Niece, nothing much about Keith and his brother, Conner or nephew. Now with this tour, he's the one that is flying back and forth, I'm sure somewhere shooting this movie she will have a break so she could fly to him. We have tickets for the tour in Sept. and have been excited to go, hope he's still going strong by then and the concert is awesome.
Posted earlier, also wondering what happpened to Keith's parents, they use to be around all the time and now you don't see them and all they talk about is being back home and on cruise's with Nicole's family. I love Keith and like Nicole just would like to see her make a little time for him..
