The 'Defying Age, Reality & Proper Sewage Release Tour 2009'

We at Urban Myths always like to fill our readers in on the scoop. It was really no surprise that we learned that Keith Urban has spent major coin to have his tour bus refitted to accommodate Nicole and Sunday Rose for the tour. Apparently Nicole can't stand to be without him or control him for three days a week so she will be on the tour. Sunday’s presence will be of what myths are made. For we know no one will see her unless, of course, they need to use her for a photo op and then, poof, we will get her image plastered everywhere.

Nicole again contradicted herself about using Sunday when she grabbed Keith's I-phone and sloppily waved pictures of the child, and then her and the child, around for whoever could see. Some have questioned if Nicole was under the influence of something other than water. Who knows, but her imitation of Keith's fans and her high jinx after the awards left us all wondering. Does Keith really need that headache on a tour that could very well be his last?

Get ready for more baby rumors after the George Strait tribute. She stuck out her gut which makes us wonder if the Urbans have purchased another child for popular consumption. Nicole certainly needs to be doing something creative.

Oh, one more thing… Keith you really need to quit dressing like you work on Wall Street. Those guys aren't that popular right now, but then, neither are you.

"Oh, one more thing… Keith you really need to quit dressing like you work on Wall Street. Those guys aren't that popular right now, but then, neither are you."

Ha! But...kidman thinks the "suits" she has on payroll are probably the "it" look...still...so the orb will dress like her agent or attorney! Yes, again between the recently announced woody allen pic..and then the news of rabbit hole ready to go in front of the cameras...when does kidman intend to ride with the tour? Of course, a few days here and there for the benefit of the paps...such as her one or two appearences at the drowsy inducing orb gigs is what I expect on that front. The one fact about kidman has always been that nothing in her life, except making lousy and failingly unsuccessful films, is the most important thing in her life...and the hubby...the kid...and even her former kids always take a back seat to that. Kidman is a part time wife...part time mother...(three times over!)but always a full time attention mongering and narcissistic fame pimp.

Hon, I see you're still desperately seeking attention by posting trash about celebrities you do not know. Geez, don't you have any "other" hobbies that might help you be a more "positive" person? You're so sad and lonely, huh?

"Is a bus really a good idea for a toddler?"

I seriously doubt, Tara, that little sunri will actually spend that much time on it...this simply sounds like another kidman PR stunt for "appearences" sake...she will spend more time on film sets than on the bus...or caring for the kid on the bus for that matter. Token appearences is kidman's trademark...when it comes to charity, the orb's tours or her kids.

How did Nicole act after the awards show? I haven't heard this one.

I think the whole tour will be miserable for Keith if he really has to drag her along.

It is probably just publicity. I doubt that she has any intention of joining him on the bus.

Unknown said...

What did she do to mock his fans?

I think Keith has that rockstar dream of raising his child on tour. Ya know, like a crib right next to the bed and such. I've heard things like that before.

If you go to gettyimages.com, and search for Keith Urban Nashville, you will see a bunch of pics from the Capitol Nashville afterparty. She is draping her arm across him in a bunch of the pics. When she knows she is being photographed with him and others... She's his biggest fan, dontcha know ;-)

Hi Urban Myths.
Amazing how she changed costumes for the after-party to bring out the drag queen routine. Yet Keith had to remain in his Wall Street Suit. Overheard ..."The cameras will be on me Keith, dont bother changing"

She was being stupid (would not surprise me in the least) or inebriated and was acting very nasty towards Keith's public. That's why I think the entire Kidman on tour is a rouge to get at Keith's fans. You ever wonder why his face lights up when he talks about the road? Perhaps its because she is not there and he is the star of his own show.

Actually, Choice, she wore the green dress the day after the ACM's at a tribute to George Strait, the artist of the decade. She wore the backless black dress to the ACM ceremony and the Capitol Nashville afterparty. Poor thing had to spend two whole evenings at country music affairs. I'm sure she was miserable.

In all fairness, other musicians do take their families on tour with them. It's not unheard of.

Thanks Urban Myths for clarifying the events. My Blog now reflects the George Strait Tribute.

A lot of other musicians tour with their families.... I believe Tim & Faith scheduled their tour so that it didn't interfere with school because the kids were going with them.

All of you that think KUNK is in the wrong for doing it are just being petty because it's them. I almost hope they are with him, and that he brings the kid out on stage to show her off. I want him to feel confident enough in his relationship with his fans that he could do that.

Hey hey! I'm back...after some "lan line" sabotage over here in central Cali...So again, the orb beat out target for #1 sales the previous week...which no doubt has the fanies dancing in the street. Of course Ive tried to highlight the movie paralell of how a movie coming out in Jan or Feb and only grossing about 14 or 15 mill can be #1 for that weekend...then it occured to me last night...how to highlight a little relative comparison to the orbs cd sales... how does the first week sales of this album to the orb's last cd release? So the orbs new cd this past week sold about 171k to beat out princes about 168k cds for #1...sound impressive? Well certainly not when you realize that the orb's last down earning cd, love, pain...actually had stronger 1st week sales of 270k copies back in 2006...and only peaked at #3.

http://new.music.yahoo.com/blogs/chart_watch/32895/week-ending-april-5-2009-a-prince-beats-a-king-of-pop/

Again...Defying Gravity sold 171k cds its first week and is #1 for the week...while Love, Pain & The Whole Crazy Thing sold 270k in its first week of sales and only made it to #3
The true test is the ultimate sales overall of the cd...is it the lousy economy for the down sales? OR as in the orbs case, is it the downward trend of his cd sales...

Imahick said...

I don't have a problem with him bringing his family out on tour, as long as he does give the same calibre of show and doesn't cut it short, so he can run back to the bus to paint NK's toe nails.

It seems to me that he has trouble focusing when NK is around. But that is only through what I've seen and heard of him in interviews, as I've not been at a show that she has been at.

As far as him bringing Sunday out on stage...I don't think that'll happen. I personally wouldn't mind if he did. I'd like to see him actually touch the child let alone carry her out for the fans to see. I am sure he loves her...so why not let his fans enjoy seeing him with his first born? The fact that we never see Keith carry Sunday or interact with her is odd to me.

As far as sales, I am having some trouble understanding how Keith's first week sales compare to other comparable artists recently. I looked up Brad Paisley's first week sales of Play, released last November. He sold 53,697 units in the first week and was #1 on the country chart. Of course it had a high percentage of instrumentals on that CD, but it did have a #1 on the charts at the time of the album release and Brad is "hotter" than Keith in country music right now, having won MV for 2 yr straight.

As much as I agree his career is not where it was in 2005 and not where is COULD be if he'd stayed on course, times are changing and perhaps the first week sales will remain soft for everyone. I think we will need to see how this plays out over time, and how the tour sells.

maclen said...

Surely the declining economy is not going to help anyone right now...certainly not the already declining orb...lets take another look at the numbers... updated numbers, according to wiki...2004's Be Here sold 4 mil...Love, pain and Crazy sold 2 mil...the rehashed Greatest Hits sold only 500k. So taking that trend into effect... I wouldnt be surprised if Defying Gravity sold only about a million copies... again taking the Ghits repeat cd out of the equation and only including new song albums... the orbs album sales have been basically half of his previous album for the past 4 years. Plus taking into account that the just released Gravity has just sold only 171k cds in its first week, which is only half of previous cd, love pain and crazy album's first week sales of 270k cd sold... that "only selling half of previous album" trend is confirmed...Am I right? We'll just have to wait and see how Defying Gravity does in the end.

Hi Maclen

Had a full listen to new album the other day, thanks to a kind source (along with U2's new album which aint too bad). I really like one song on Defying Gravity called "When Granny, oops Summer comes around". Could be the next single. Do you think the album got to No. 1 because it was on the discount rack for a few weeks? People love discounts in this recession.

Im predicting Nic will take some credit for the success any day now:

'Til Summer Comes Around is probably one of the best tracks on there, if not the best one. Monty did good on this one....

Hit The Ground Running is the other good one - written by Jerry.

Have to agree notachance, TSCA is perfect for his voice. I hope he plans on playing this one while on tour.

"Hi Maclen

It seems it was just a "weak" week for debuting cds...as Ive repeated, ad nauseam, the orb was able to just barely outsell Target stores. As for kidman coming out and taking credit for the album...why should she...she already has the orb giving her credit for it all already.

Imahick said...

I think there was limited competition for Keith's album. If he'd waited til the following week to release it, RF would have blown his album out of the water. Still, this is a recession and traditional sales of music are hurting. So...I still think it's a good accomplishment for him!

I am enjoying DG. I don't like Thank You (boring - too much like GIRTT) but most of the songs are good...IMO, Til Summer Comes Around, as I've said before, is outstanding! I think his voice is clear ... better than it's been since GR and certainly stronger than on the last album.

I don't expect each album to be a GR or BH... This one is better than the last and a good effort. If it had a bit more variety of theme, it'd be excellent.

The problem is that he is not able to find anything other than relationships to write about. He needs to venture forth and take some risks, in order to move beyond his comfort zone and create the kind of music we know he can.

I totally agree Imahick. We all know he has the potential in him. Til Summer Comes Around is more like I think we were expecting to hear from Keith. If the whole album was based around that... feel, sound, emotion... I think he would have scored a hit with all the fans, old and new. But he chose to make most of the rest of the CD an ode to his movie star wife, because of course we can't forget he's married to her for one second. Nope. Don't FORGET!!!

I did not in a million years think I would be so disappointed in an artist in such a short time. Shame on me for thinking he was something special.

So, lets add a lttle more "perspective" on the orbs "#1" selling cd of the previous week... the orbs latest sold 171k cds, which again, is only half of the 270k copies that love pain and crazy sold 3 years ago. So how is this week of sales going...well, we have this...

http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/rascal-flatts-on-track-to-score-no-1-on-1003960941.story

Rascal Flatts On Track To Score No. 1 On Billboard 200

...it seems that rascal flatts will dethrone the orbs cd for the top spot with weekly cd sales of about 300k sold...as opposed to the orbs 171k sold. Seems the orb was in fact fortunate to be put out on sale in a weaker selling week. Again, perspective, it will be interesting to note how the orb sells in the second week...

Chart Sneak: Rascal Flatts likely to lead next week's CD chart

...the orb might fall to #6 on the charts in its second week...while 2nd place finisher "Target stores"...(prince!) will fall to #5? Doesnt seem like a strong...or resiliant performer for the orb, does it. Looks like the orbs ode to "tween" dreams is going to maybe fall fast. We shall see...

Hello Maclen

I used to work in a record store years ago. I remember a Rep telling that Album Charts can be misleading because new releases, which store owners expect to fair well, are ordered in bulk by record stores. The people compiling the charts treat this ordering as actual sales, when in reality the stock may still be sitting on the shelves in the store.

And what about all the people who download albums rather than buy. Where does that all come into it in this day and age I wonder. Surely more of than goes on in these Recession times.

Here are more luscious photos of Nicole's arrival in Oz with the PR baby ...

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1169576/Kisses-hugs-little-Sunday-Rose-doting-mother-Nicole-Kidman-takes-Australia.html

...so, back to kidman...whose career was confirmed "disappeared" by the epic fail of epic failure Australia...after kidman had jumped on woody's bandwagon...totally willing to get paid scale, in the hopes that the woodman can get her even an ounce of awards love...it was written that the kidman producer/starrer film Rabbit Hole had found a lead actor and director and would soon start production...which I first read about over at forehead...

http://nicolekidmansforehead.blogspot.com/2009/04/kidmans-rabbit-hole.html

...but this weeks old story to me sounded so much like a nonentity no starter, one way or the other, I almost forgot to comment! So, that situation seems to be that kidman bff murdoch's Fox Searchlight passed on the flick...(not very surprising)...and has now been picked up by something's called..."Olympus Pictures and Odd Lot Entertainment"...(yeah, I had the same reaction...Olympus who? and Odd Lot what?) and probably for a couple million apiece of finance... and it also turns out that kidman will not have to carry the "producing" all by her little lonesome...it will be co-produced by "along with Leslie Urdang and Dean Vanech of Olympus and with Gigi Pritzker of Odd Lot...boy with 4 other producers on this surely "indie" flick...kidman wont really have to do much, you think? And with this other little tidbit..."The film will be sold at the Cannes Film Market, with CAA, which brokered the financing deal, handling domestic sales." You see, this is what happens when your career is dead... you "self produce" a film for yourself on a few "credit cards"...with a stable of producers to carry all the load and you cross your fingers that someone will pick up the film...but unless kidman's other bff's, weinstein Co doesnt buy this already sounding tripe for only a few million...kidman playing a distraught mom traumitized by the death of her child...ie: in dogville/human stain/birth/fur tired and overdone mode...this film I predict will languish in nowhere land and probably sit on the shelf or simply go staight to dvd...

maclen said...

Yeah, choice, it seems all cd sales trackers have their own methodology.. as that hitfix article I posted states..."Hits uses a different chart methodology than Billboard, which relies on Nielsen SoundScan, but the two usually resemble each other." Soundscan is good because it gathers the scans of cds sold, which is more tangible in its results than the tactic some may use in the example you tell...simply counting the orders outlets pre-order and not being able to chart how many of those pre-order cds actually sold to, you know, people. And as for kidman and her recent parading of little sunri...kidman has apparently gotten over her "paparatzzi-itis" and now is apparently seemingly and outwardly "gleeful and giddy" to now flagrantly and shamelessly exhibit her child to any paparatz she can exhibit her daughter to. But in the end, how that is gonna revive her dead career is beyond any rational thought or reason...are people going to be interested in going to see her in another dreary and dreadful film just because she has gone against her own stated fears of "unshielding" her daughter to those once dreaded paps? I think people who are cognitive of her ever changing "convictions" are only going to be repulsed and disgusted by her cynical hyptocrisy and two faced public celeb child exploitating.

So, just a little more on the orb cd sales front...this...from CMT, no less...

http://www.cmt.com/news/nashville-skyline/1608990/nashville-skyline-state-of-country-music-going-to-hell.jhtml

NASHVILLE SKYLINE: State of Country Music: Going to Hell?
Time for Hand-Wringing? Or Time to Cowboy Up?
...this very observent and totally prescient quote...

"Keith Urban's new CD, Defying Gravity, just sold 171,000 copies in its first week -- not good by traditional sales standards but good enough to top the Billboard 200 chart and to beat Prince's new release."

...just a little honest assessment even from the usually gung ho and cheerleading CMT.

notachance said...

So, Rascal Flatts is slated for 300,000 copies on release? Anyone happen to know what their last album did? You know, since we're harping on Keith for coming up short with DG as opposed to LPATWCT I thought RF should be compared as well.

So... a little sampling of late night musings from the front of the clearly and recently confirmed demise of kidman's career...the sure sign of the apocalypse...for kidman! Puruse here...

http://movies.iexplorehere.com/news/2551/Freida-Pinto-on-Vanity-Fair-List.html

Freida Pinto on Vanity Fair List...and the relevent quote of the article... "To be included in the list, Freida Pinto has already left behind the likes of Charlize Theron and Nicole Kidman, who have not found a place in the list."

...a sure sign of "hasbeen-ery" when even inept team kidman can no longer get their flailing client on another shallow celeb promo fluff piece...shallow...definately...but, no longer interested in accomodating old news kidman. Ironically going for new flavor of the moment pinto... hot on the scene with bollywood's slumdog...yet fear not fansies...kidman is desperately grasping for that golden bandwagon with that epic Indian ginger ale extravaganza...all flanked out with that whole bollywood crowd...sticking out like a emaciated and glowing creature right out of "Cocoon"...(I predict the ginger ale ad will be as successful for kidman as the orbs "teen dream" campaign, wherein it leads to his long rumored first film role which will be in "Highschool musical XLI" in which he will play the "new student" who got left behind...for 24 years!)

...also in the news...seems JJ finally got the call for those oh so personal and "family friendly: photo ops...

http://justjared.buzznet.com/2009/04/12/nicole-kidman-easter-sunday/

Nicole Kidman: Easter Sunday with Sunday!relevent quote..."The trio spent time with Nic’s younger sister Antonia and her two sons Hamish “Hamey” and James on their new Southern Highlands property grounds."

...my initial reaction was..."what!?...papparatz invaders to their "new Southern Highlands property grounds?!"...and the article title isn't..."kidman calls kops on kreepy paps home invaders!"...when I realized it was JJ... so they get 10 pics with no fuss or muss...gotta get those photo ops out to the world...they got a new home..."look everyone...one big happy family"...

maclen said...

...so now, an update on the state of the orbs lackluster "chart topper"...

info here...

http://www.stltoday.com/blogzone/the-blender/the-blender/2009/04/rascal-flatts-bumps-keith-urban-from-billboard-200-perch/

Rascal Flatts bumps Keith Urban from Billboard 200 perch...in it's second week, the orb's cd drops to #7 with 72k sold...a 58% drop in sales. And again, Rascal Flatts takes #1 with a far more impressive 351k cds sold than the orbs very anemic 271k of the previous weak...I mean week. But the orb fansies can at least celebrate that the orb continues to outsell Target stores! At that 58% sales drop, the orb may be off the top 20 charts, at least, perhaps before the end of the month...seems the new "teen dream" has the stamina of peewee herman...who by the way, his alter ego Ruebens is 56 yrs old! But Ruebens doesnt play peewee anymore...orb should try to emulate that example and move on from the juvenile mentality...it makes him look foolish considering the cd is another pitiful performer.

Well, choice, it does seem evident that the disfavor the orbs fans had with his hooking up with kidman seems to have cut his fanbase in half...and his teenybopping of his latest cd to try and grab the miley cyrus crowd may get a few "sunny" reviews and I'd gather far more "shallow" tagging reviews...as I stated before, isnt going to convert those teens and tweens to the 41 yr old orb. So basically all he has left are the remaining fansies of his bygone days. And again, the image of the orb now, as the middle aged family man with a new kid simply counters with the made up and fabricated image of a fresh... with it teenybopper borrowing his uncles mustang to go parking with his "girl".

I went back and pulled up the stats for RF's last studio album, as the album they released in 2008 was a greatest hits album. RF's last studio album released September 28, 2007sold 321,000 copies.

Ha! Glad you were "interested" in taking that subject on, Perspone! Considering the original...and supposedly "interested" commenter on that subject was either just too lazy...or simply interested in being a snarky ass...to look up the info. So rascal flatts' last proper album sold 321k?...and their latest album just sold 351k cds...that is pretty consistant, and even a small gain of about 30k cds sold...yes a small gainer, sure...but at least its not a 50% loss which the orb is hemorrhaging with his previous last proper cd and now with this shallow and juvenile latest. So let me "gratuitously" recap that trend once again..."2004's Be Here sold 4 mil...Love, pain and Crazy sold 2 mil."...and recently, "defying gravity" just sold 171k cds it's first week, while the orbs previous "love, pain and crazy" sold 270k cds it's first week... that's about 50 percent drop, 99k less cds sold...almost 100k. So now the question is... can defying gravity even sell a million cds?
