Yes...these are the pics of kidman looking like a homogenized, pale white plucked chicken! So the latest news on the hasbeen kidman..."slowing down" for family...now has a never "3 days apart" rule from the orb...and shilling watches...seemingly on the United Nations bill! All regurgitated inept team kidman PR BS. Is it any wonder the only job she can get is opening a watch store in Hong Kong? Now, here from the source itself, here is how the just as homogenized orb gets into the "exploit a charity for personal gain" game...from the unifem website itself...
UNIFEM Goodwill Ambassador Nicole Kidman Raises more than US$175,000 for UNIFEM’s Programmes in China
"Attended by more than 200 guests, the charity fundraiser took place during her first visit to Hong Kong, and was organized in cooperation with the luxury watch manufacturer OMEGA. The event also featured a private concert by Nicole Kidman’s husband, Grammy Award–winning singer Keith Urban...“Nicole and Keith are two of the world’s great entertainers, but more than that, they are true humanitarians,” said Stephen Urquhart, President of OMEGA.“We are proud to count them among our friends and are delighted that we can make a meaningful contribution to an organization as worthy as UNIFEM.”
So, orb is a willing participant to kidman's shameless "marriage" of charitable work for personal publicity gain! The Unifem organization...an arm of UN charitable causes... IS NOW JUST ANOTHER PRESS RELEASER FOR KIDMAN'S SHILLING OF WATCHES FOR OMEGA! And of course with the aid and abeting now of the orb personally...SO CONGRATS ORB FANSIES...AND ORB DEFENDERS...NOW ORB IS JUST AS IMPLICIT A PR WHORE AND CHARITY EXPLOITER AS KIDMAN! I think the "orb is not as bad as kidman" meme is as laughable and as uneven as kidman lobsided boobjob....
..I wonder who is "bankrolling" kidman and orb's "first trip to Hong Kong?" Unifem or Omega? And I'm also wondering... how much is kidman...and the orb for that matter for his little "exclusive live gig" at the function...getting paid by Omega? I sure as hell bet it is ALOT more than what was "raised" for the charitable cause they were there to supposedly promote! A paltry 175k no doubt pales in comparison to their potential paydays...the PR coverage...and in my opinion the degradation of the purity of true charitable effort! To put it more succintly...I wager the "kidman's" made quite a handsome "profit" off their little "charity based personal career" business!
Nicole was as flat as a pancake for ages. Just look at the Dead Calm photo in my timeline. About time she grew up and accepted her manly body for what it is: http://nicole-kidman-journey.blogspot.com/2010/05/my-new-boobs-are-on-display-again.html
PS. I love the comment you sent Maclen. You always know how to make me laugh! Thanks
I've mentioned this once before, but it bears repeating: I wonder how much Keith encourages these surgeries. She's obviously insecure about her body, and he's made it clear he's a breast man.
They both win: with her increased breasts, she looks like less of a man, and he looks like more.
Like I said earlier, who in this couple has the brains? First off, let's get implant issue straightened out here. Those are implants. Natural breasts made out of natural fat and milk glands don't form in a perfect circular formation.
Secondly, what is the cause that Nicole is representing as a goodwill ambassador to UNIFEM? I feel this honor should be taken away from her as this really should be the final straw. She is revealing almost her entire breast and getting to close for comfort when it comes to the nipple. Trying very hard to be that old sex kitten.
Finally, what message is she sending out to all those girls and women she is "trying" to protect? Sorry Nicole, a real woman who is comfortable in her own skin and appearance doesn't need implants. And more than likely she did this because she knew she couldn't keep her hubby happy in the boob department that he was so fond of before.
I wonder if Keith did this to get a free trip to China on the Nicole express- he certainly didn't talk about it in recent interviews did he? Nor did he walk the red carpet at the event? Nor were there pictures of him arriving. I am sure if there is sightseeing to be done then we will have our snaps but the rest is interesting.
Forgive me for not saying this in my earlier post, but I just observed this in the last picture that was posted. Compare her hands to her arms. What is going on there? Then pay attention to the many different skin tones that are in areas such as her armpit, chest, shoulder and neck region. How does skin go from pearly white to beige?
Putting her breasts on display at this event has nothing to do with Keith and everything to do with bringing media attention to herself. How many times have we seen her do this? She makes it a point to wear something shocking, different, or out of character so that the press picks it up and runs with it. Shes done it throughout her career. See-through clothes, mini's, busting out of her dress. Most memorable outfit makes all the news and she knows it.
Did she have a boob job? Probably not. That dress fits like a corset. It could be just a lot of push up going on. The point is, thats where she wanted the focus to be and thats where it was. Its all about the PR folks. And she knows how to play the game.
True, a real woman is comfortable in their own skin. I seriously have to agree that Nicole is a freak. Too caught up on Botox and boob jobs. And if Keith encourages this, which I/we don't know if he does but I hope he doesn't, then it is wrong and if he loves her so much like he's said before he would want her as she is/was made. And uhm, I believe his first engagement, Laura Sigler, was classy. I've seen pictures. And isn't Keith a born-again Christian? I honestly think he's a good man, or what I'd like to believe, and that all the things written about him/Nicole said about him weren't all that true. And I doubt he likes trashy... Except Trashy Lingerie, of course.
Tara, They definitely got their way paid for. I'm sure Omega paid for everything. Including the private jet they took over there. Keith was only asked to perform, because he is Mr. Nicole Kidman. He did say in an interview about a month ago that he would love to perform in China. No Keith didn't walk the red carpet and no pictures, audio, or video were allowed at the event inside. So we only get what they want to tell us happened in there. Like he sang a song to her. Then he went up behind her and squeezed her and all the love up stuff that they say all the time. I Don't believe a word of it.
...now on the flip side...no way in hell would kidman have hooked up with the "ex-pet shop boy" orb of just a decade ago...if not for the surgeons scalpel!
Told you her mentality hadn't matured nor progressed in 20 years...told you she's competing in twentysomthing values with H Monteg, Hilton, et. al.
To think, she continues to expose her fortysomehting body -- really, how GROSS is that? (yet couldn't expose her pregnant belly because there wasn't one...okay, won't go there in this thread) We're not even talking about 35 yrs old being too old to showcase herself in the T&A..wow.
Here's yet another un-needed validation: SHE'S AN OLD, PATHETIC MORON!!!!
Oh Maclen! The last link was soooo informative and entertaining!
He looked like a David Bowie wannabe with a Mullet!
I nearly choked on my own saliva!
I have to do my psych homework now, I hope I can keep my mind from wandering back to Keith, oh Keith, my dream, my love, my everything. . . .
If I go to Nashville, if I join Monkey paws, if I go to weightwatchers, I have big boobies naturally, I also give REALLY good ****, (at least my hubby says so) do you think, maybe, he would play something for me?
I can stand in line, tie stuff to my chair, I can, I can!!!!!
Tell me what to do, Maclen, please! I can't live without him now, after seeing those pictures! I must have him, smell the mousse, feel the love, hear the "I'm in!"

Oh well, hoosier...I'm afraid your on your own with the dreaded "monkeyland fever"...which symptoms are clearly an imunity to the signs of "jekyl and hyde" disease! Which is as follows...
...the "older" orb actually looking "younger" than the younger orb! Face being "fuller" in the later orb...the crow's feet and laugh lines being scrubbed down from the later orb...and the chin less pronounced or as extreme than the "younger" orb. but then of course, ALL celebs do it...so it's ALL good, right? But then I would simply submit the celebs THAT insecure about how they look and go to these extremes don't usually last very much longer after they obviously reveal themselves to be that insecure...they usually get "outed" as being THAT desperate!
Maclen - any whispers from NKU on whether they were embarrassed over this latest dress? I guess they must be used to it by now. How many members are left on that website now? 5?
"During her visit, Nicole Kidman opened a new OMEGA Boutique in Hong Kong. She has worked with the LUXURY watch manufacturer since 2005. Through the partnership with Nicole Kidman, OMEGA has also supported UNIFEM’s programmes in the past. Last year, for example, at the launch of the Say NO – UNiTE online platform, which counts and showcases actions on ending violence against women worldwide, and for which Nicole Kidman is a spokesperson, the company announced a challenge grant of US$50,000 for the first 50,000 actions. The money will go to UNIFEM programmes on the ground."
A very luxurious 50 thou!! The Unifem website does not feature a picture of the embarassing bust-popping kidman but an old pic of her wearing serious spectacles ... gotta keep decorum & decency ... on the official website, at least.
What was she thinking?? And didn't she just say she is not willing anymore to wear uncomfortable clothes? If that super-TIGHT bust-squishing dress is 'comfortable', I'll eat her bustier-padding!
Choice said... "Maclen - any whispers from NKU on whether they were embarrassed over this latest dress? I guess they must be used to it by now. How many members are left on that website now? 5?"
Well, Choice...as I now refer to them...the "NKUseless"...being that celeb "fansie sites" were created in the first place to "publicize " their chosen celebs and "talk" up their fab films or cds...the NKUseless are just that, pretty useless! The new board, " Nicole News Desk" having been implemented when the site was shut off to prying eyes...is a total bust...the last news posting having been back on april 19...I gather the comment board is about as quiet as kidman's chance for a new film role!
abc said... "A very luxurious 50 thou!! The Unifem website does not feature a picture of the embarassing bust-popping kidman but an old pic of her wearing serious spectacles ... gotta keep decorum & decency ... on the official website, at least."
Yeah abc, kidman's "partnership" with the UN is simply an exchange of "publicity opportunities"...which is why I always point out kidman does NOT DO ANYTHING FOR THE UN...unless she also has something of her own to shill and promote. A film last year...her trip to Calif for the awards circuits early this year puncuated by a "groundbreaking" ceremony! And so now obviously, kidman has actually "blended her "partnership" with the UN to her own personal shilling for Omega...so now she can at the same instant be "publicized" by the UN and paid by Omega! As I mentioned before, The kidman's have a very profitable "charity based personal career" business!
Even Jimmy Carter has picked up on this story. He's got it on FB today.
I was at my daughter's friends house the other night and her mom had a boob job 10 or so yrs ago. She had them put under the muscle and said whenever she lifts something or puts tension on the chest muscle the implants can go in different directions. Remember that one pic where Nic was popping out the side of the dress? And this lady's boobs look the same as NK's in this pic when she pushes them up, like two "orbs" (just for you maclen), she's stick thin too. Definitely convinced now of NK's boob job.
I read on a website that NK got paid $10,000,000 HKD ($1,281,574.83 US) for her appearance in Hong Kong for OMEGA. The UNIFEM dinner in Hong Kong made $1,320,000 HKD ($169,167.88 US).
It's too bad that OMEGA hadn't given UNIFEM the $10,000,000 HKD that NK earned for her appearances. But the dinner did raise some substantial money, and I'm sure they're happy for that.
So NK made more in appearance fee than she helped to raise for UNIFEM - like almost 10 times more. Now that's disgusting. She should donate the difference in her fee to UNIFEM because then the numbers would make more sense.
Imahick said... "NK got paid $10,000,000 HKD ($1,281,574.83 US)"..."UNIFEM dinner in Hong Kong made $1,320,000 HKD ($169,167.88 US)."
I'm not surprised at all by those figures...in fact I pointed out as much in my second comment on this thread. Yeah sure, the charity need not had gotten anything at all...so they should be happy with what they got...but that surely doesnt placate my personal disgust at the typical "corporate gluteny!" Omega probably makes 100s of millions profit on their product...fine...that's capitalism...they want to pay kidman millions to shill their baubles...fine...kidman needs the work obviously...but when they simply raise a paltry 100k for a charity...all so kidman can get a "goodwill" photo op and a higher payday than the charity! So, I am not, and I'm very sure most people are not very impressed! Kidman's behavior on this issue clearly disgusts me..and so I am VERY "warmhearted and overjoyed" that none of this callous and cynically calculated posturing saved her failed career! And I do expect orb to, of course, follow in kidman's shameless hackery... and the other question that should also be highlighted...how much did orb get paid for his little exclusive concert for the UN...of course involved as well via Omega? Cause everyone knows the UN is as pure as the driven snow!
She got a million dollars to play movie star made some money for the UN got attention (what kind I am not sure) but why did he go? and then no evidence that he was even there- the supportive hubby bit has been played so many times but nothing like that for this trip. Kinda weird even for these two.
Now, what this recent "business/charity" bundled appearence clearly shows, along with most of her past examples of "business/charity" scams, is that it's obvious kidman is what is classically known as a "penny pincher." You know, like those old stories of old folks long considered poor and deadbeat, but after their deaths, it is revealed that they were in fact stuffing a fortune in money in their mattress'! Beside what I've always contended about kidman's "timing" of her UN functions...she seems to schedule a UN appearence at the same time she is shilling a film. Now another such "appearence" came in 2006 when kidman opened the Rome Festival with her film Fur...
"This week Nicole Kidman visited Kosovo as a UN Goodwill Ambassador, the latest celebrity to indulge in some 'charitainment'. But is it all for the benefit of the or the stars themselves? KIM BIELENBERG reports. Europe Intelligence Wire | October 17, 2006"
Ha! Excellent description...'charitainment!' So anyways, over the weekend of oct 13 '06 kidman is opening her film at the Rome festival...then the following tuesday the 17th she visits Kosovo on behalf of the UN. So it's quite obvious, besides getting an extra "punch" of that "Goodwill" PR for going all charitable for her opening film...she obviously simply took the Kosovo trip on the tab of her films studio! And again, we see it with this Business/charity scam...she gets "Goodwill" PR from the UN...a trip that was no doubt funded by Omega...who not only raised a paltry 100k for charity...but ALSO paid kidman $1mill to be there!
Hes doing whats required of him, hes promoting her. Do you think he got paid for his performance? He didn't get anything else out of it. Not even a photo. Sure didn't help his career.
It was smart of someone to link UNIFEM to the opening of a new Omega store. NK would never have gotten the attention in the media she did if it wasn't a charity event. Too bad it won't help her career either. Most celebrities who endorse products overseas keep it on the down low because fans in the US don't seem to like it. Maybe because it makes them appear too greedy. But as we see with NK, she makes it an "event" if she goes to Starbucks. A true media whore. And Urban is right there with her.
So as I previously mentioned the NKUseless fansie site has been rendered useless since they "retired" to their private "crack dens"...I've been recently getting my laughs over at monkeyland...seems there is some BIG NEWS added only a new few days ago...
DEFYING GRAVITY GOES PLATIUMN-CHECK OUT WHAT KEITH SENT TO THE EMI STAFF
...this thread posted by "spunky_e1"...explains...
"Congratulations Keith..it was a given that Defying Gravity would go platiumn..I'm so, so proud and happy for you Hey guys check out what keith sent the the EMI Staff after finding out--Let's just say it's a very "Sweet Thing"
...now, any "knowledgable" reader of my post probably has the same reaction as a few monkeylanders did...
sueannLuvsKU posted:
"Well, that is interesting since the CD needs about 100K to go Platinum. I have heard that record labels can petition the Platinum status based on projected sales once a CD get's close and I guess that is what happened!"
myeverythingKU posted" "So is this for sure?! i know it hasn't quite reached it yet, but when can we officially say it is? "
...yes, if your as confused by the posting as the monkeylanders clearly are...it is because this "misleading" and "purposely" vague posting is meant to "falsly imply" that Defying Sales has gone platinum (1mil cds sold)...in the US! But as the link clearly leads you to ...is EMI Australia! Yeah, along with the "I'm in" recruiting campaign...the monkeys are now desperate for good news...they are trying to pull the wool over even their own followers to believe it!
Oh my Kidman was paid to be at the Omega benefit for UNIFEM? She is beyond being a JERK. She should have waved her fee from Omega and told them to give it the UNIFEM charity. Does UNIFEM have to pay her too for doing charity events for them? How in the world can she can show her face anywhere.
Wonder if Keith got paid to be at the two benefits for the flooding in Nashville?
Am I understanding that correctly maclen? Is Keith basically begging to have his album go platinum? It shows that money can buy you everything, but apparently the music of his love can't!
rememberwhen, the better question is, was NK paid for being at the telethon for the flooding in Nashville? She doesn't seem to do anything that she doesn't get a paycheck for. She puts a high price tag on her brand doesn't she. Not going to give that publicity away for free!
blue sky said... "Am I understanding that correctly maclen? Is Keith basically begging to have his album go platinum? It shows that money can buy you everything, but apparently the music of his love can't!"
Yeah blue sky...well it seems my post from last night about the "Defying Sales goes platinum" thread over at Monkeyland seems to be missing from this thread! But it seems IT WAS posted earlier this morning, right? Well, over at monkeyland a "spunky_e1" posted this thread, "DEFYING GRAVITY GOES PLATIUMN-CHECK OUT WHAT KEITH SENT TO THE EMI STAFF"
"Congratulations Keith..it was a given that Defying Gravity would go platiumn..I'm so, so proud and happy for you Hey guys check out what keith sent the the EMI Staff after finding out--Let's just say it's a very "Sweet Thing"
...giving the misleading assumption that Defying Sales had gone platinum here in the US. And even other monkeys commenting on it were even confused about that thread. Well blue sky, apparently DS has gone "platinum"...but in Australia! But it takes other monkeys to explain it IS NOT in the US, and apparently in OZ it only takes about 70k cds sold to go "platinum. Why do I insist it is an obvious ploy to give the reading masses the "impression" that orb's cd has now gone platinum in the US? Because despite the confused comments from other commenters, the original poster..."spunky_e1" has not returned to clarify the thread!
..so to continue with the theme of the ever changing state of orb's declining career...seems that kidman is not the only one shilling "swill" for a paycheck! It seems the orb is now hawking "barbecue sauce"..."KC Masterpiece®" barbecue sauce to be precise. Seems there is a special section at the monkeyland forum...titled "KC Masterpiece and the Summer Lovin' Tour"
http://www.keithurban.net/forum/index.php#9
..now, I am surely aware that all concert tours have "corporate sponsors" who pay for the tour for publicity in return. Recall last year orb performed a few "intimate concerts" at Verizon stores for tour sponsor Verizon...but I dont recall tour sponsors getting shilled on orb's fansite. Now if someone can "SHOW" that this is not the case...I would then believe I was mistaken...and not someone simply "stating" it is not the case! So along with the new "I'm in" recruiting campaign due to dwindling followers...I'd say orb is now a barbecue salesman! Not too impressive, eh? But...maybe as impressive as "ginger ale saleswoman?"
Corona Beer is one of the first tabs to click on, on Kenny Chesney's official website. Ever gone to one of his shows? Inbetween acts, they show Corona beer commercials and every other one stars Kenny Chesney. These sponsors are putting up the money for the tour, of course they want to be acknowledge on the acts website that they are the sponsor. If they can come up with a fun promotion the ties the act, the sponser and the fans together, well that's just good for everyone. It's called doing business. KC masterpiece came in as a sponsor during Keith's last tour. They obviously felt it was beneficial to their company to come back this year. No company goes into sponsoring a tour to not get something back from the experience. It's usually to get their name out there. If such a small amount of people are going to see Keith in concert, well that's not going to get KC Masterpiece back the money they've put up for the tour. Having been a part of the last tour, they know what they are getting into sponsoring Keith's tour and obviously they see it as a win for them. Now in the electronic age. Gone are the days of an act having just a banner over the back of the stage with the sponsors name and that's it. Everything is now cross promoted.
mikki said... rememberwhen, the better question is, was NK paid for being at the telethon for the flooding in Nashville?
Can't tell you if she was paid, but she certainly got her picture in the rag mags, and if I am not mistaken, for her, right now, that's almost as good.

Even Jimmy Carter has picked up on this story. He's got it on FB today.
OK, JFK was president when I was born, so, please tell me, is this the Jimmy Carter that begat Amy Carter, the same Jimmy Carter that was our President in the late 70's, you remember, with his brother Billy and what was his mother's name? Miss was it Lucille? No, couldn't have been, anyhoo, is this of whom you speak? Jimmy Carter has a facebook page? I've got to check this out. How to I find it?
Keith isn't a born again Christian. That is one of those myths that floats around about him. His beliefs are more New Age than fire and brimstone and recently has been attending Mass regularly with Kidman
and while I know its business wouldn't it look weird to see a tour promoted by a beer company for a well knows graduate of the Betty Ford Center?
That's right Tara, Keith can never have a tour sponsored by anything connected with alcohol. That's why the KC Masterpiece is a good fit for him and his "brand" so to speak. Wholesome family backyard fun. 'Cept Keith really needs to work on that brand. He & Nic really need to start spending more time on the family farm and having some bbq's of their own, well publicized bbq's full of KC Masterpiece that show just how Nashville they are.
Tara, where did you hear that these two are attending Mass regularly? And where would that be? NK has spent several weeks in Hawaii. And before that she was in LA. She is also not known as someone who has ever been devoted to a religion. Nor is Keith.
Choice, NK could drain her face of all the botox and no one would believe shes not using the stuff. She took it to the extreme, lied about it, and now she'll always be known for it. The media will never let her live it down.
Choice said... "Maclen Is it really true? Or was she frowning extra hard?" http://nicole-kidman-journey.blogspot.com/2010/05/no-more-botox-for-kidman.html
Well, choice as I mentioned at your site regarding that picture of a "wrinkled" kidman...definately she is just on "downtime" Recall last year during her testimony in DC...she was also showing off her wrinkles...no doubt she scheduled her non botox look for the very "serious testimony." Now also recall, she was to cohost a "press conference" after her testimony...and she canceled...then a few days later she was to go on a trip to Kenya to startup a phone bank...BUT CANCELED. Now it seems more than likely she of course ran over for her botox tune up for the rest of promo and premiere of Nine.
I've seen a lot of tweets from people who have seen the family at mass on sundays, last weekend and this weekend:
JoshMock You know you're in Nashville when you go to Sunday mass and Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman are there with their daughter.
sarahxmoore Just saw Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman at church weeee
GERikaa Hey I seen Keith urban at church today!
And mikki, Keith is and always has been pretty religious. Maybe not as much before as he is now, but I've seen several interviews from the past where he talks about God, too.
I didn't say he could never have a tour sponsored by anyone just that it would look weird.
Yep I am looking forward to those backyard gatherings down on the farm
the Mass sightings are in twitterland a few (which for these two is big) were in LA and the last one was the Sunday of the flood telethon in Nashville. Kidman has been known to attend Mass since her first divorce.
Photo ops of kidman "attending mass" are as rare of photo ops of kidman with ex-cruise's kids...and very likely, as with the photos...or non photos with ex's kids...are due to it...you know, NOT actually occuring. Now the case may be made that kidman simply considers "attending mass" or seen with ex's kids just TOO personal to be exploited for sheer public promo. But on the other hand...that doesnt seem to be the case with "PR baby" little sunry...who kidman once publically stated she wanted to "keep away" from the paps. But then, there are photo ops with "pr baby" sunry... and then the case may be made that kidman CANNOT control EVERY pap on the streets...hence the photo ops with little sunry! Which then, of course, buttress' by case that there have NOT BEEN any photo ops of kidman "attending mass" or "with ex's kids om quite a few years now...because it just doesnt, again, you know...occur.
I susect KUNK went to mass these last few weeks because the entire city is post-disaster and it's good PR to be seen as devout.
Keith became religious -"a prayer," in his own words - during his druggie phase (as he mentioned to Katie Couric in early 2005 for the Dateline interview he did). But his talk of God and religion has fallen off noticeably since he's been married.
And I remain suspicious of those reports of Sunday's Italian baptism - the one that occurred sans family while KUNK were on vacation.
...believe it or not...an actual update on The Danish Girl...seems the page over at IMDB is abuzz with "news" that Uma Thurman will be playing opposite kidman in the film. Seems the rumor originated from this piece at "zimbio"
Robert Downey Jr. Told Gwyneth Paltrow to Put Her Marriage First
"The 37-year-old actress recently quit production of The Danish Girl, which now stars Nicole Kidman and Uma Thurman, and uses her extra time planning date nights and romantic evenings in with her spouse.
...which got the comment section of the Danish girl page at IMDB basically speculating over whether it was true. Seems this one article...and maybe 2 other copy and past stories online is the source for this rumor. No other usual source for this type of story...Variety or Hollywood reporter has this news. I even noticed that the wiki page for danish girl is updated with the news that thurman is set to costar. Well, it seems to me that a obvious kidman addict may be jumping the gun...in an attempt to perhaps get the "rumor" to get a little traction? In fact, IMDB has itself added thurman to the cast list for danish girl! All this simply because one obscure webpage stated it...that apparently is the level of desperation for kidman to have another flop filmed before cameras! I have a feeling, since learning that thurman apparently recorded the first chapter of The Danish Girl for the recorded reading...
http://www.ebershoff.com/also_danish.html
"Download an audio file of Uma Thurman reading the first chapter of The Danish Girl"
...someone simply became "confused" that thurman was "costarring" in the film. In fact the latest "rumored" director of the film, Hallström, has yet to be confirmed as it's director, outside of a few swedish websites that quotes him as getting ready to direct. But really, this is all just some pretty pathetic reminents of kidman's dead career...alot of desperate "sources" seemingly throwing "stuff' at the wall just to see if anything sticks! And that's what all is left really...a huge pile of really pathetic stuff!
"So, how did these people rate a surprise concert with Keith. Did they donate mega bucks to a good cause or something legit like that. I would have taken a day off from work to go, no problem!!!"
You know the orb's in trouble when even his monkey's themselves are beginning to question his "integrity!" Yeah...the hell?!
I mean he can play whenever and wherever he wants but why put in on the damn web site. The fans weren't invited Keith. We didn't come along to Jordan nor China we weren't invited to Ellis Island either but that's so sweet to put that up on the old web site that you want people to help pay for....
he is getting as stupid as his wife ..
also learn some new lines that you must have been drinking early shit goes back how far? and if you are going to invite the audience somewhere do it like the original way that the late Andy Kaufman did and get buses and take the audience to wherever
Dominoes- almost as bad a playing in a communist country.
"and if you are going to invite the audience somewhere do it like the original way that the late Andy Kaufman did and get buses and take the audience to wherever"
I'm not even sure what you are trying to say here but if I am understanding you correctly.....Do you really think Keith or his people put this together? This was a corporate event for Allstate Insurance. Keith was just the entertainer not the organizer. How the people got there or where the event took place wasn't up to Keith.

Bow and Arrow Productions Here's a short highlight video of the production on Ellis Island with Keith Urban! Thanks goes out to our new buddy Brad, Keith's videographer! http://www.keithurban.net/kutube.html%3Fma_id%3D0%26mc_id%3D817%26p%3D1
...so...orb played a private gig at the tail end of a "conference" for a bunch of insurance salespeople and suits?" Didnt realize the orb was so hard up for a paycheck. And not at all surprising...orb is becoming quite the total "corporate shill"...no doubt learned from the equally and currently "corporate sponsored" kidman! But fear not monkeylanders...you'll get your chances to see the orb in person. No doubt that "special deal" for a shot at those precious tickets you get as members of that "elite" group of fansie site Monkeys...you know, the fansie site that basically sells it's own "scalped tickets" to it's own members for twice or triple the price! OOOOH...I'm soooo jealous!
What fansite are you talking about that sells Keith's tickets for more then the price of the tickets? Keith doesn't sell his own tickets on his site? If you are talking about Ticketmaster's VIP tickets, lots and lots of acts (and not just Musicians) do/did the VIP thing in the past. If someone can get their hands on great seats and then sells them on ebay, some other site or outside the venue for double or triple the price. The artist isn't seeing a dime of that money, if their fans are willing to pay those prices anyway, then what is wrong with the entertainer cutting out the middle man? If you are going to pay the scalper prices, I'd rather the money go to the artist I'm seeing, then to someone that has nothing to do with the artist. (If you had a product that you made and someone, who had nothing to do with the making of that product came in bought it at one price and then resold it to your customers at double or triple price, wouldn't you want to see some of that money??) These VIP tickets were auctions. The tickets started pretty much at cost. Fans themselves drove up the prices, not Keith. If they got too pricey, then you bail. Another thing, at least you know the tickets aren't fakes. I have no problem with TM's VIP tickets. If you want to spend that kind of money you can, if you don't, then you don't. No one is forcing anyone to buy the more expensive tickets. If Ticketmaster didn't keep some of those seats to sell as VIP (and we are talking about maybe 50 tickets in the whole venue, here), scalpers would get them (Like they still do and always have) and they would still be out of reach to the fans that can't/won't go higher then the actual ticket price. Don't even get me started on the $20 tickets. Anyone who thought there would be a ton of them and/ or that they would be good seats, well I got a bridge I'd like to sell you.
"So, how did these people rate a surprise concert with Keith. Did they donate mega bucks to a good cause or something legit like that. I would have taken a day off from work to go, no problem!!!"
Has anyone ever noticed that there is some type of entitlement that the die-hard Urban fans have when it comes to having access to Keith? "How did these people rate . . ." How does this concern them? What right do the fans have questioning what people see Keith perform at any given location? Would they have jumped on a plane, booked a hotel room right away just to see Keith in concert for the 88th time? It is like stealing M&G passes from other fans or questioning/bullying them as to why or how they got the M&G. I can't imagine grown woman would act like this over a stranger. They ALL think they have a special relationship with him.
The artist isn't seeing a dime of that money, if their fans are willing to pay those prices anyway, then what is wrong with the entertainer cutting out the middle man?
I'm confused.
Scalping is wrong. That's why it's illegal.
Maclen said. . .
...so...orb played a private gig at the tail end of a "conference" for a bunch of insurance salespeople and suits?" Didnt realize the orb was so hard up for a paycheck.
How long has it been since he sold a "full length video" with "all the concert footage".
I'm sure everyone is jonesing for one by now.
As for the tickets, I can't remember. . . the fansies (the ones that paid hard earned cash to belong to the website (why?) were supposed to get a chance to buy premium seats in exchange for the membership dues, (oh. . .that's why!) but, when it comes time to actually pay the piper, the good seats go to Ticketmaster, who, in turn put them on auction to the highest bidder? Now, Keith, (as usual) knew nothing about this, (of course), even though Ticketmaster advertises (both on site and off, via web, tv, radio, even in retail stores) artists and upcoming performances, but selling/giving the tickets to Ticketmaster did nothing to pad KU's pocket. But, even if it did, we are not supposed to say, breath or even whisper of word of impropriety, because, he's is just a working smuck, and he needs every penney he can get, unlike the fansies, (please see first sentence), who paid their hard earned cash to join a website, (why?).
Am I close to understanding? I'm just a silly old woman from the midwest, someone help me here.
It seems cletus was targeted specifically for his "Benefit for KEITH URBAN...with friends" concert...basically, announcing that 14,904 tickets would go on sale, ALL for only $25 bucks and all on sale Wednesday, September 2nd, 10 a.m....and that
"In fact, internal ticketing documents show that, by 10 a.m. Wednesday, out of less than 15,000 seats, more than 10,000 had already been sold."
and so, that left "4,491 tickets for the public on sale." But, if sales were to start at 10 a.m Wednesday...why were 10,000 already sold? Well, obviously, scalpers, right?
"And while Urban's people dismissed the scalping as "unfortunate," it turns out that a big chunk of the tickets sold in advance had gone to Keith Urban's Monkeyville fan club."
What? The monkeylanders? Orbs own team of ticket scalpers?
"Urban pockets $25 for each membership, giving fans -- and scalpers - early access to some tickets. For the Hall of Fame benefit, we found 12 of those $25 seats right on the front row, scalped at $642 each -- all of them, according to internal documents, allocated to the fan club. Urban's team denies any responsibility for those scalped tickets."
Of course the orb's team is gonna deny any responsibility...as the above quote states clearly, monkeylanders...and potential "scalpers" only have to pay $25 for membership to the orbs fansie site...and then buy tickets by the bulk for only $25 dollars a piece and make a killing! Meanwhile, cletus is just happy to take all this "new" memberships to his fanisie site...ie: SCALPERS...and those "lucky" orb fans got to pay only 600 bucks for decent seats! BUT, cletus got HIS money!
"Still, Keith Urban's team told reporters they could not involve themselves "in a ticket-scalping debate." And there may be a reason that he was reluctant to condemn the scalping. That's because, as our investigation discovered, this year Keith Urban struck a deal with Ticketmaster to, in essence, scalp tickets to his own shows.
Internal documents show that at stops on his 2009 "Escape Together" tour, Keith Urban's people instructed the venues to pull out 50 prime seats to be auctioned off to the highest bidders through Ticketmaster. Plus, they ordered a hold on another 150 so-called "Platinum" or "TicketExchange" seats. TicketExchange was an area of Ticketmaster's web site that claimed to have tickets being resold -- usually at inflated prices -- by other fans. "What could be better?" Lefsetz exclaimed. "The act says, 'They don't know. They're blaming the scalpers, and it's going directly to me.'"
...read enough? So basically, it is cletus' policy of "trying to combat the scalpers...by becoming a scalper!" He wants his cut of the pie! But...of course, at the expense of those "diehard" fans, who would gladly...or more correctly, stupidly pay 600...inflated...bucks to his concerts! Well, that's pretty big of the cletus! Well, I slammed the orb's "Benefit for KIETH URBAN" as a PR vanity piece...but it seems the orb has the whole "live tour" wired to "scalp" as much money out of his dear devoted fans!"
I have a better understanding now, thank you Maclen, at least the monkeylanders are getting something from their membership dues. It also goes a long way to answer what has always been my personal question, "Is it named monkeyland in reference to the monkey paw they smoke?"
I am a libertarian, always have been always will be, but this is a perfect example why it would never work. People are idiotic sheep.
No, I do not know why fans think they would have special privileges simply because they were stupid enough to pay membership to a fan club, most of us learned that when we were 9. I can not believe that anyone would be stupid enough to buy a ticket for $600 for anything other than, say, a chance to see Jesus speak, (which would be free,) but, again, I'm lower middle class, with little to no respect left for anything, (that rhymes with jaded).
There is no way he can continue with this and still be a "country star" for much longer. It won't work, eventually the mainstream country consumer will put two and two together and it will equal you are getting SCREWED, then after the dust settles, we can post about his Branson, MO appearances and how his monkeyfoot fansies were arrested for trying to snort comet backstage.
Old news. This story is what 9 or more months old and yet Keith is still out there selling tickets (through Ticketmaster I might add) and people are still buying them. For the record Maclen, your golden girl Taylor Swift was named as having been a part of this thing with Ticketmaster too. All different acts from all genre's of music (including other "Country Stars") as well as comediens had tickets sold through ticketmasters VIP auctions. You want to take this issue up with someone, take it up with tickmaster. Or with local/state reps for allowing ticketmaster to have a monopoly on selling tickets. Again, if I'm a performer and I know my fans are out there buying tickets from scalpers for double and triple the price I've negotiated with the venue/ticketmaster and Ticketmaster comes to me and says we've got this program where we take those same seats that would get bought up by scalpers and we can get them into the hands of your fans for whatever price they are willing to pay through an auction and you will get that extra money. Why would any entertainer say no and many, many performers didn't say no. Scapling is taking place everyday. Whether it's happenning on TM's site or in front of the venue on the day of the show. Venues have contracts with Ticketmaster. They are the only ones that can sell those tickets legally. Before this VIP auction, scalpers just joinned entertainers fan clubs to get the passwords. Hell they would then sell those passwords on ebay. Not tickets, just the passwords. I get that you want to make this issue about Keith because you all dislike him so much but this issue isn't about Keith. It's about Ticketmaster. This story broke after the All for the Hall show. It was a big deal for what a week and then it was business as usual for Ticketmaster. The laws need to be changed so that Ticktmaster won't have such a strangle hold on the comsumer who wants to buy a ticket to a show. It won't change by coming down on the perfomer. The only way a performer can boycott Ticketmaster is to not play those venues that have contracts with TM. Try finding those venues. Where I live there is one in a 2 state radius. One of the perks of joinning any fan club for an entertainer that performs in front of an audience, is the "opportunity" to get better seats. They all use that word or "the chance" to get better seats. No where does it say you will definitely get the best seats. I'm not a member of Keith's fan club. Some fan clubs are better at this then others. Lot's are better at it then Keith's fan club is and most of Keith's fans are very aware of this and yet they continue to keep joining his club. Again, performers are in this business to make money, to get to do what they love and be paid for it, so that they don't have to do the normal 9-5 grind. They get enough fans, either someone close to them or their fans will start a fan club for them. They get really big and there are companies out there that run fan clubs for them. It's a business. Pure and simple. If you join a fan club and think you are somehow a part of a family now and people are going to care about you because you are a part of their fan club.....well again I still have that bridge for sale.

Yes, Hoosier, this is clearly why the monkeys have begun their "I'm in" campaign...clearly just as his cd sales have dramatically dropped, no doubt so has his fansie site membership as well. Just as the orb's "Benefit for KIETH URBAN" late last year was a clear tactical reaction to his cd's weak sales...and being timed to occur just a few weeks before voting for the CMA's ended... the stench of sheer desperation was clearly evident. And now corporate shill orb is swilling barbacue sauce on his forum in it's own section. "Share Your Favorite Summer BBQ Recipes!" is about as tacky and corny as "Are you "in?" We want to hear your "I'm In" story!"...and just as hooky a recruitment tactic! Just as I've been predicting kidman's career was headed to the dumpster for the past few years...orb's career has the exact same trajectory to be just as embarrassing! At which point the MOnkeyland fawnsite will go "undercover" just as the NKUseless fawnsite!
Blue Sky, you have hit the nail right on the head when you say:
"They ALL think they have a special relationship with him."
It is because he makes himself so personable and approachable: "come by after the (Ellis Isl) concert and I'll order pizza", etc etc.
And yet, he says when he sings about or to "you", that could be anyone, God, the fans, his muse and/or wife, whomever. Hence the jealousy when he publically proclaims he is actually singing about his wife.
Reminds me of that bit in the John Lennon film when a fan turns up at his front door at home in the UK, proclaiming that JL was singing to HIM, JL tells him to effoff ... that he was deluded!
abc said... Reminds me of that bit in the John Lennon film when a fan turns up at his front door at home in the UK, proclaiming that JL was singing to HIM, JL tells him to effoff ... that he was deluded!
Yeah, that is from the documentary, "Imagine: John Lennon. And actually, lennon did not tell the guy to "effoff!" He came to the door to speak to the guy, who clearly was flying high as a kite, and simply explained that there was no way he could be "singing to him" And in fact lennon asks the guy if he was hungry and then took him inside and fed him! And clearly, for orb, there is now a "disconnect" with alot of his former fans. And it HAS been evident since he hooked up with kidman. Whether it's that "He's singing only to me" element that was crushed...or even that he is no longer "single" and therefore not as "appealing" to alot of his former fans...or whether they simply dont like kidman...again, it IS clearly evident. And I beleive the combination of all those reasons are in fact the reason!
hoosierlady said... "He also says he's just a guy that plays with words"
HA! Plays with words?
Why's It Feel So Long
Songwriters: Urban, Keith
"I look in my watch Stare at the clock They don't move I don't either I'm just frozen on the couch The seconds feel like hours An hour is like a day It's a twilight zone in this home When you go away."
...more like he hunts them down and strangles words! "It's a Twilight Zone" in his home?" Well, I'm sure when kidman came onto his scene it truly transformed it into an "Addam's Family" happy ending!...and it sent their love into the "Outer Limits"...and surely sent him "Where no man has gone before"...this obvious little "Star Trek" they've taken upon themselves! This is the orb's solely credited song on his last cd...all other songs are either covers...or co-written with someone else...I gotta hunch as to why that is!
Notes on Keith Urban and the first night of the Bayou Country Superfest
"How far will Keith Urban go to win over a stadium crowd? At least 50 yards. At the climax of his Saturday set on the first night of the Bayou Country Superfest in Baton Rouge, Urban hopped off the tip of a catwalk jutting into the audience."
...so...Country's "kate Moss" is still walking last years "catwalk" into the crowd...well at least he evidently quit actually proclaiming, "Who has the best seat's now?!" Obviously, orb is not very high on "originality" or "spontaneous?" But it seems the reviewer was quite impressed by orb...who then went on...
"It was an appropriately rock ‘n’ roll moment for the Nashville equivalent of Jon Bon Jovi. Like Bon Jovi, Urban is a perfectly engineered frontman, from hair painstakingly coiffed to appear effortlessly casual, to his earring, to his ever-present, thousand-watt smile, to his ability to work the largest of rooms with an unshakeable professionalism."
Whoa, the "Country Jon bon jovi!" That's certainly some high praise...Dinosaur 80's metal hair band! Well, gotta give him that one...he clearly pegged orb's derivative and rehashed image! And I also see...
"The band rejoined him for a closing run at “The Joker.” They sounded like Lynyrd Skynyrd covering Steve Miller. The massive audience ate it up, just as Urban knew it would."
...so I see the orb is clearly continuing his ransacking of the "classic rock sound" of 60's and 70's...the stones cover on the fallon show...the beatles cover at the flood benefit...now covering the steve miller band's "The Joker"...early 70's rock classic! But then what do you expect from the bon jovi wannabe?
thanks for the correction Maclen; it was a long time ago that I saw that film - but the point is the same
Reading the comments on posts on my facebook where a few of my friends love KU ... they ALL went on about "those arms, mmm those fingers, those shoulder moves, those fangers, the T-shirt, those moves" etc etc - yes, fantasy stuff ... not ONE mentioned the music!
Everyone on Jimmy Fallon that week sang a Rolling Stones song. It was ROLLING STONES week!! It's wasn't Keith himself or the show that didn't want him to sing one of his own songs. As for the telethon, he was looking for a song that might have some meaning. Rather then singing his latest single. Which I'm sure if he did sing his current single. Then it would have been "See he doesn't care, he' just pimping his single". As for "The Joker" Keith's been playing that song from time to time since before Kidman came along. Well, over 6 yrs now. He obviously likes the song, the audience likes it. They can sing along to it. But nice of you Maclen, to try and make this look like Keith's trying to go Classic Rock all of a sudden. Funny most of his detracters say he wants to go Pop. Although, I think Keith is very comfortable in his interpretation of country.
ABC, if you know anything about Keith and his career he has had to fight from the beginning people getting past his looks to see how talented he is. Nothing new. That's where the whole "Keith Urban, he's so Hawt" came from. I just read a blog about people complaining about the cancelled Eagles shows. All the posts said they believed that the shows were cancelled for one of two reasons. #1 tickets were too expensive for for such a non-intimate setting. or #2 the Natalie Maines issue. No one named Keith as the reason, I might add. Anyway, there were several comments that said it's a shame for those that haven't ever seen Keith in concert,(those that are rock fans and might not give country a chance otherwise) that now they will miss that opportunity. One that stood out to me was from a guy who said he was 52 and had seen every well known guitar player in concert except for Hendrix. He thought Keith was an exceptional player. He said he read a review once that said something like "when God created the guitar he had Keith Urban in mind". So if you look for reviews that don't just talk about his looks, you will find them.
Some things haven't changed in the last eight years. Why bother paying big bucks to see him in concert anymore? Just throw in your old LRN DVD in the player and watch that instead!
maclen said... "hoosierlady said... "He also says he's just a guy that plays with words"
Loved your post, as usual, Maclen, but in the movie, Imagine, Lennon says, "I'm just a guy who plays with words."
Oy! Yes...well, at least my response can still stand alone as my true reaction to orb's music. I sometimes wish "other" comments were as "precise" and "exact" as mine are...as I try to eliminate any possible misunderstanding and misinterpretation of my exact thoughts and opinions...that must be why my comments usually tease the word limit to comments on this thread!!
abc said... "Reading the comments on posts on my facebook where a few of my friends love KU ... they ALL went on about "those arms, mmm those fingers, those shoulder moves, those fangers, the T-shirt, those moves" etc etc - yes, fantasy stuff ... not ONE mentioned the music!"
Yes, again abc...the music is the least of orb's one time "strenghs! As that review...(of orb!) I posted earlier of this live gig at superfest...the description given by the reviewer did hit on the orb...
"Like Bon Jovi, Urban is a perfectly engineered frontman, from hair painstakingly coiffed to appear effortlessly casual, to his earring, to his ever-present, thousand-watt smile, to his ability to work the largest of rooms with an unshakeable professionalism."
..yeah, he's got "the look" all figured out...the hair...the earring...the tatts...but apparently he is just "bon jovi-lite"...he pales in comparison to paisley as a guitarist. There is not a lack of reasoning and deduction to why his cd sales are way down...take your pick!
blue sky said... "Who has the best seat's now?!" “The Joker.” Some things haven't changed in the last eight years. Why bother paying big bucks to see him in concert anymore? Just throw in your old LRN DVD in the player and watch that instead!"
Yes, well I gather based on this review...the "catwalk" will be a fixture once again at orb's summer tour. And I wont be at all surprised if he doesnt in fact whip out "Who has the best seats now" during his upcoming summer tour. And of course, another thing I'll be looking for during his live gigs is the set list of songs...during last years live tour...even the monkeys who were bothering to show up to multiple shows were complaining how he rarely changed up the set list! As I've been maintaining for at least the past 3 years...the orb is growing stale ..."moldy and mildewed"...with each passing day! Which was the exact case with "you know who?
So, a recent perusal of the NKUseless site revealed these interesting notices...first on the homepage...

IMPORTANT: Please note that this site is undergoing changes. The board is now in archival mode and is closed to membership. Some of the links below will not work while the changes are happening..

"DEAR MEMBERS. THANK YOU ALL. 'A MOMENT IN TIME' FOR US TOO. AND NOW A NEW BEGINNING. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR JOURNEY.
BOARD NOW IN ARCHIVE MODE. THANKS FOR ALL THE GOOD TIMES EVERYONE."
So, can it now be assumed that the NKUseless dicussion forum is now also closed to even the members? What Ive read of "archive mode"...it means "read only" Perhaps someone "in the know" may want to elaborate on this a little more. But to me...these "messages" say to me that, "the website for fans of the beautiful and talented Nicole Kidman" has... "passed on! ...is no more! It has ceased to be! 'E's expired and gone to meet 'is maker! 'E's a stiff! Bereft of life, 'e rests in peace!" Clearly, it wouldnt be at all surprising...NOT if you've been reading my posts regarding kidman online for the past 4 years! And clearly, I take this as just another sign that kidman career is over...as who on this blog DIDNT believe that the NKUseless fawnsite was in fact kidman's "official" fawnsite...and as Ive been chronicling ad nauseum...kidman is just soooo over! She is no doubt at this moment scheduling her next "corporate funded" photo op...or simply another country award show. But again, I dont expect much "industry" big news coming about her!
"ABC, if you know anything about Keith and his career he has had to fight from the beginning people getting past his looks to see how talented he is. Nothing new."
and:
"if you look for reviews that don't just talk about his looks, you will find them."
Well then, I ask, why does he painstakingly highlight his hair; and in the past, bleaching it to the other side of Dolly Parton, wearing it long, blonde and silky at times, and why did he alter his teeth and whatever else to such an extent, that to be honest, if I saw a picture of him then (with the seriously fancy shiny outfits) against a picture of him now, I would say they were two different people ... and that aint just ageing. To me, he has been sexing up his looks for yonks. Also, the way he moves on stage and in promo pics is DELIBERATELY sexy. Nothing wrong with that, (and I love the way his body moves), just don't be hypocritical ... mmm; like, guess who?? (NK)
I don't need reviews to see that he IS an awesome guitar player. It's what I like most about him! LOVE "Devil went down to Nashville" and others. I can hear that with my own ears and see it with my own eyes. Just don't care for his voice so have never been able to live through an entire album, and most definitely not a second time! I prefer rock and roll so I like the rock stuff he does, though for me, he somehow doesn't have the ballsyness for rock'n'roll - and I prefer the originals, i.e. the Stones themselves! His humour, down-to-earthness and approachability suit his country genre.
Basically, virtually anyone can play a Stones song and the room will pump. It's the songs the people love, and which the babyboomers especially will relate to: nostalgically! It's happy stuff.
I think a large portion of his followers love "the man", as they put it, saying he "could sing the phone book and they'd be happy".
The thing I admire the most about him is his commitment to sobriety!
"Some things haven't changed in the last eight years. Why bother paying big bucks to see him in concert anymore?"
No ones asking you to but obviously he's still selling tickets Blue Sky so I guess people are bothering. It's OK that your not going to the shows. Keith doesn't miss you, he's got plenty of fans buying up those seats.
So ABC he should not look his best, so that he can be taken seriously? Ummm, Jon Bon Jovi has colored, highlighted and permed his hair to the point that it's pretty much fried. Oh and those aren't Jon's real teeth either. Even in rock and roll they do things to make themselves look better. Keith Richards even had his teeth fixed. The different hair colors were mainly when Keith was a teenager and a very young adult. Like most young adults I'm sure he was still trying to find his look, just like the rest of us at that age. Since then his hair hair has been pretty much been dirty blond with very light blond hights or darker brown with blond highlights. He's only had veneers put on his teeth (which he did before Kidman was in his life), nothing else. No other work done. I really don't get the whole put down of Keith for doing things that you all readily accept in other performers. Oh yeah, I do. You dislike Keith so if he does it it's bad and when everyone else does it, it's no big deal. Keith's not the only country male star to highlight his hair.
Oh and here's a review from a guy who was at the show in Baton Rouge over the weekend.
"Went to Bayou Country Music Festival and saw the openers of David Nail had a good performance Kellie Pickler (smart but, very stupid) ok’ish performance. The main performers were Keith Urban who put on an amazing performance. I wasn’t much of a Keith Urban before hand, but I am converted. I have been to so many concerts over the years but, I have never seen a performer work so hard to please the fans and play so HARD that it made me a fan. However, I was thoroughly disappointed with Taylor Swift‘s performance. It felt personally to me that there was more “theatricality” then music. I think I saw more videos of her on the screen than I did on her on stage. I mean I didn’t have a turnaround about her music like I did Keith, but I wasn’t impressed."
mikki said... "yes maclen, next up - the CMT awards show June 9. Keith is nominated (which guarantees NK a front row seat). Its fan voted, so any perdictions?"
Yes, well that's the next "photo op"...I figure with all the embarrassing brouhaha over her last implants look...she may go "conservative" at the awards. Now as to the orb...I've been playing up his "dwindling fanbase" theme for a couple of months now...this surely will be a telling indication of how "mighty" it is! Just as recently as last year he was able to win an occasional online poll. So we shall see!
"ABC, if you know anything about Keith and his career he has had to fight from the beginning people getting past his looks to see how talented he is. Nothing new."
My response was that he was hardly "fighting from the beginning" if he was sexing up his looks pretty much from the beginning and still now highlighting his hair, posing sexy etc etc. I am NOT talking about other stars here as the subject is KEITH!! And I am NOT making a judgment on Keith, or saying he shouldn't "look his best", just pointing out your, (and his), inconsistency!!!
If you are going to argue, at least get what I say, and mean, correct!
I am NOT "putting Keith down" and I have never indicated or said that I "don't like" him. Just the opposite. But of course, that is going to make you say that he is my "fantasy boyfriend" and that is why I "hate Nicole Kidman".
Wrong!
Just stop generalising, about me, and about people who make comments.
I forgot to mention in my last post that over my years of loving live music, I have seen multible acts many times on the same tour and they all do the same show every night. Say pretty much the same thing at the same point in the show. I went to a show once years ago of a band that had a first leg of the US then toured Europe (extentsively as they were from there), Japan, South America and Australia before coming back to the US for a second leg. Somewhere before coming back to the US they released a live album of the tour. I didn't see a show on the first leg. I bought the live album in anticipation of seeing the show. They literally played the live album as the show. Every song in the same order. Every supposed off the cuff remark was the same as it was on the album and in the same place. They all do it but you only know that by going to multible shows. Most people don't go and see an entertainer more then once on a tour. Those that do, find out pretty quick that it's going to be the same from town to town and they don't care. I've even heard people say the words to some of Keith's more famous lines along with Keith. They don't care that they've heard it before and Keith's not saying it for them. He's saying it to the people who it's their first time seeing him. No act, Keith or otherwise gears their show for the fans that go to multible shows. They play their show like everyone is seeing it for the first time that night (because about 99% of them are seeing for the first and only time that tour). As for the "Who's got the good seats now" line you should hear the screams and see the arms stretched out toward Keith when he says that. People who are sitting in that area eat that up, when he says it.
The CMT awards, does it really matter? If he wins an award it will be "All the fanzies just sat at their computers and voted all day long. It will be said that these awards mean nothing". Now if he doesn't win, it will be "See he has no fans left". If Keith wins that's great. If he doesn't his life and his career will still go on. Just like all the other big names in coutry music who still tour and put out cds and don't win the awards anymore, like Alan Jackson, to name just one. Music is a young and new people's game. They for the most part win the awards at these shows. They have the fans that will take the time to vote online and are the most passionate about getting out the vote. It doesn't mean that an artist's career is over, just that they have moved onto the next chapter in it. If Taylor Swift and Lady A are still around in 10 yrs time, they too will be pushed aside for the newer, younger act. That's the nature of business they are in.
abc, you take yourself way too seriously. You want to argue over abc as opposed to ABC??? Really??Is there another ABC posting here and you don't want to be confused with them? Since I don't know you, how else would you expect me to respond then to generalize?? In the future I won't use your name when responding to something you've posted. I'll just post. Would that make you feel better? I don't want to single you out, seeing as you are all sensitive and all. Ummm aren't you generalizing about me, saying that I would think by you saying that you like Keith that I would think he's your fantasy boyfriend? Because honestly I didn't even think that, until you posted it. I too like Keith and dislike his wife. Maybe we are more a like then you think?
You brought up the Rolling Stones so I thought it was Ok for me to mention them ie Keith Richards. Maclen brought up Jon Bon Jovi. So, so much for this just being about Keith.
Again, sorry for ruffling your feathers. I thought we were just chatting.
hoosierlady said... "Can he be my fantasy boyfriend? "No, wait, can nicole be my fantasy boyfriend? yuck, strike that"
Hey hoosier, but dont you realize that kidman IS the Danish Girl!? Yeah...HA!...also strike that! Now, blue sky...as to the "live orb"...last year I mocked the absurbity of the vastly more successful swifty OPENING for the mediocre orb...and I joked last year that in a years time "orb would be opening for swifty?" Well, I may have been off as to swifty...BUT...orb does begin his "Summer luvin tour"...opening for The Eagles!
Lets see what body parts she'll have on display this time for attention.
It doesn't really matter, because she'll be sure to grab his hand and hold it right in front of her groin. As usual. Gotta make sure everybody is up on her hot and heavy sex life. How better to do that than by indulging in a PDA that has all the subtlety of a flying mallet?
"Yes, well, apparently those Eagles' concert tickets aren't selling like hot cakes to those "plenty of fans" either!"
Those shows weren't cancelled because of Keith. He wasn't the headliner. You might want to re-think that thought. The tickets were too expensive for that size of a places they were playing. NJ, DC, Philly and Hersey, PA are all within a short drive of each other. Really no need for all four, especially right after each other in the same week. Plus a lot of people haven't forgotten about what Natalie Maines did overseas. Those were the reasons the shows were cancelled, not Keith. Nice try though.
First of all Keith Urban is no Jon Bon Jovi. Jon cares about people and helps people and when he says something he sticks to it. He has helped millions and millions of people around the world. Next thing Bon Jovi is the best selling band in the world. Keith isn't best selling in anything around the world. I would love to see Keith try and sell out an arena in Japan, China, heck even Australia. If Jon was playing the same night no one, and I mean no one would bother with Keith. Also Jon didn't have to marry into money to be a big shot. He married for love. He and the guys worked hard from the beginning. So Keith is no way anything like Jon Bon Jovi. Heck Bon Jovi's country CD did better than any of Keith's last three combined.
You know, when I posted a few days ago on how it certainly appeared that the NKUseless site had basically met it's demise...not unlike...and very probably...due to the demise of kidman's career...I was surfing the net for any info on other forums on kidman's dead fawnsite. And I was perusing the E! boards...and was checking out the orb "Negative thread" where I read an interesting post about how the orb seems to be "touring on the cheap" this summer...packing on the "festivals" and "county fairs", as opposed to last year's headlining arenas. And indeed...looking at the orb's tour schedule...as I just mentioned, orb's first three gigs on the 10th, 12th and 19th he is "opening" for the headlining eagles...and then he has no less that the next 15 gigs at either festivals or county fairs! The "Country Stampede"...."Greeley Stampede"..."Country Jam USA"..."Cavendish Beach Music Festival"..."2010 Iowa State Fair"..."Indianapolis State Fair"...."Allentown Fair". Clearly, as I pointed out last year...orb during last year tour...his tickets on average were almost twice as much as paisley's...yet orb's tour barely grossed more than paisley's. Yet, orb's ticket prices on average were as HIGH as chesney's...yet orb only grossed HALF of what chesney grossed. And therefore I also made the case that paisley...based on the average ticket prices and average grosses...actually had sold more tickets than orb. Lets look at the averages...
17-Chesney: $71.1mil total gross- $68.73 average ticket price- 1.03mil total tickets sold.
25-orb: $46.mil- total gross- $64.07 average ticket price- 721k total tickets sold.
34-paisley: $35.5mil total gross- $42.35 average ticket price- 834k total tickets sold.
So, as I kept pointing out last year, orbs ticket prices were almost twice as much as paisley's...orb's $64 per ticket to paisley's $42 per ticket...and yet...orb's tour only grossed $10.5mil more than paisley's. And further, as I also pointed out...paisley sold more tickets than orb... paisley's 835k total tickets to orb's 721k total tickets. That's a difference of 114k tickets! Now ponder that....114,000 more people saw paisley in concert last year than orb! Now, a comparison of orb's numbers to chesney's...both orb and chesney were charging per ticket on average, $69 for chesney and $64 for orb...and chesney grossed $71mil to orb's $46mil. And chesney sold 1 million total tickets to orb's 721k total tickets. Again, that's 278,000 more people who saw chesney live last year than orb! So, what was the reason? Did orb not play as hard...or as long...jump high enough...did his quitar not rock out enough? Clearly, the hard numbers show orb is not as strong a draw as chesney or paisley...the numbers bear it out. Now, could it simply be that orb's inept team can also see these numbers...and have relagated poor orb to "festivals and country fairs" this summer? And could it also be that orb has basically dragged himself out to this "on the cheap" tour because his cd "Defying Sales" sold so poorly...he just doesnt have a choice in the matter?
...now looking over the year end chart of top grossing tours of 2009...I just noticed another interesting...and very telling stat of the 3 country tours...just to review again...simply to show that these numbers "hold up" across the board...
•chesney grossed $71.1mil in 52 shows
•Orb grossed $46.2 IN 70 SHOWS!
•paisley grossed $35.5mil in 66 shows
..now again, just to highlight the numbers...(because you know how I strive to be "exact and precise") look at those totals. Orb actually played 28 MORE shows last year than chesney...and yet...chesney grossed $24.9mil MORE than orb! And orb played 4 more shows than paisley...and yet...orb only grossed $10.5mil more than paisley! Orb is at almost every level...looking weaker...even in the stats that you would assume he should be stronger! Yet...he is not. As I commented earlier...the orb has just gotten stale!
please stick to the point I was making ... you're still going around in circles!
ps, I agree with what you say re repetitive comments by musicians in concert ... thing is everything ends up on the internet so a bigger audience gets to hear the repetition ... in any case, it would be hard to have something fresh and new to say every time ... at times, Keith has gotten the place wrong where he is playing so best he stick to his safe script ...
"...as to the "live orb"...last year I mocked the absurbity of the vastly more successful swifty OPENING for the mediocre orb...and I joked last year that in a years time "orb would be opening for swifty?" Well, I may have been off as to swifty...BUT..."
Oh, I don't think you were off maclen -- at the BayouFest event, the weekend's headliners were Taylor (Fri. nite) and Kenny (Sat nite). Keith played on Friday BEFORE Taylor.
Ha! Hilarious...so, after my rant on how the NKUseless site was "no more"...based on it being in "archive mode"...I notice this mysterious "NEW" thread on the new and basically abandoned "Kidman News Desk"...
...EXCEPT...it is not a new thread! The thread was begun back in dec of '09...and the last comment was on May 25. I presume that was when the forum "died." NOw of course, I could just be mistaken...and SUDDENLY...there could be another new comment...especially after my commenting about it here...but...my point is clear. This apparent attempt to make the forum "seem" still alive...despite the apparent non-activity.... is pretty pathetic!
Maclen do you know how much Kenny charges for his tickets? The cheapest seats start at where Paisley's tickets are (at the top of the stadium) and go up to 120.00for the best seats, which is most of the floor and around the stage on the first level. Also he's playing places that hold 60 to 80 thousand people. The average price for his tickets are in the $80range (I don't care what pollstar says. If you have tickets from $40+ t0 $120 the average price for the tickets is in the $80 range and was the price for most of the seats at the stadium I saw him at). Which is more then Keith charged for his. So putting that into perspective. Kenny should have made a whole lot more money then Keith. Keith played places that held 10-15 thousand a night. A few were in the 18-20 thousand range. Brad played a lot of festivals. Those have very large grandstands. They sometimes hold more people then an arena when you add in the track seating. So Brad would be playing to more people per night at a lot of shows. You are really comparing apples and oranges here just to attempt to make Keith look bad and to add fuel to the Keith's career is over idea. The Grammy people must think pretty highly of Keith, he's headlining a show for them in LA.
The GRAMMY Foundation® announced today that three-time GRAMMY® Award winner and one of country music's most successful and influential artists Keith Urban will headline its signature benefit Starry Night concert on July 23, 2010, at the LA Tennis Center at the University of California, Los Angeles. This event is presented in association with The Farmers Classic tennis tournament and will be held three nights before the tournament opens. Starry Night will benefit the GRAMMY Foundation's GRAMMY in the Schools® music education programs for high school students and the Southern California Tennis Association Foundation. "Keith Urban's career is defined by both exceptional musicianship and extraordinary generosity," said Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy® and the GRAMMY Foundation. "And it is meaningful and moving that Keith is lending his time and talents during the busy summer touring season in support of the GRAMMY Foundation and our GRAMMY in the Schools music education programs. "I was so fortunate to have been exposed to music at such a young age," said Urban. "It touched my heart and opened up a world of adventure and possibilities beyond anything I'd ever known. Being a part of this concert, supporting the efforts of the GRAMMY Foundation and the Southern California Tennis Association Foundation, is something that I feel very strongly about, because I know firsthand what art, music and sport can do for our youth." In 2001, the Country Music Association honored Keith Urban with its Horizon Award, designating him a talented artist with a bright future and to this day Urban remains the only Horizon Award winner in history to go on to win the CMA's Top Male Vocalist of the Year, a title he's captured three times, and the coveted Entertainer of the Year. Nine years later and nearly 15 million albums sold, Keith is a three-time GRAMMY Award winner, who in this past year has added an American Music Award and People's Choice Award to his mantle. He's won five Academy of Country Music Awards, had 11 No. 1s, including 22 Top 5 hits and two consecutive No. 1 albums, including his latest Defying Gravity, which debuted atop both the Billboard 200 all genre and Country Albums charts. In December 2009, Urban was named the year's Top Overall Performer for Country Aircheck/Mediabase based on his country radio airplay, thanks to his hits including "Sweet Thing," "Kiss A Girl," and "Only You Can Love Me This Way." In addition, his 2002 smash "Somebody Like You" was named the No. 1 Country Song of the Decade by Nielsen BDS (based on radio airplay and audience impressions). But Urban's reputation as an elite songwriter, musician, vocalist, and virtuoso guitarist is no more evident than when he is onstage. His electrifying concerts have played to sold-out venues from Australia to Germany to England to Canada and the United States, and have received high praise from critics. In fact, 2009's Escape Together World Tour, as well as 2007's Love, Pain & The Whole Crazy World Tour, were both, according to Pollstar, one of the top grossing tours for their respective years.
Many acts have gotten the city wrong. Lots have the city name taped somewhere they can see when going on the stage. I've even seen it taped the to mic stand. I've seen Keith many, many times. I've never heard him get the city wrong but if he did get it wrong somewhere it wouldn't be unheard of. After a while the arena's all look the same.
"Oh, I don't think you were off maclen -- at the BayouFest event, the weekend's headliners were Taylor (Fri. nite) and Kenny (Sat nite). Keith played on Friday BEFORE Taylor."
Will you stop! We know you love him, we know he does absolutely nothing wrong ever. He is the country music God. He is the most wonderful guitarist on the planet. He alone has carved out a new genre in country music and without Keith, it would have never evolved into the modern country/pop it is today. If there was another arm of the Catholic church invented, no, wait, perhaps we should just go on all out and catonize the man. Good grief, are you being paid to do this, because if you aren't, you should be. I have moved a vomitorium into my computer area with your name on it. Yep, there it is, 123xyz-Keith is my man he does no wrong he is the greatest he sells the most he writes the best he plays the best bar non, he wears the best clothes, he walks the best, talks the best, scratches his ass the best. I really can't sit by anymore and read this tripe without commenting on it.
I am sorry if my comments are superior, they are not meant to be.
music said... "Oh, I don't think you were off maclen -- at the BayouFest event, the weekend's headliners were Taylor (Fri. nite) and Kenny (Sat nite). Keith played on Friday BEFORE Taylor.
Hey thanks music...I'll certainly take that as a "confirmation" of my little prediction! Orb can certainly hide his dwinding drawing power in the sea of festival performers. But then I also predicted last year that you'd be able to find orb, "playing at your local county fair!"
Perhaps he is playing the county fairs and the other venues so the "little people", the "working joe's" will have a chance to see him. Kind of "who has the cheap seats now" on steroids.
Maybe they will use it for a marketing ploy, ya think?
While he's at it, xyz123, maybe he can do a little something with some loaves and fish.
hoosierlady- you are a true urban skeptic. On the 1987 REM Tour they put a big screen up that said we are glad to be back in ____ we hope you are all having a good time- didn't have to repeat it
the only thing that isn't rehearsed in a KU show is the solos - it seems a little forced and I don't go to 50 shows.
will Kidman show up for the CMT awards? She didn't last year he drove there in the Bentley parked in the lot and walked the carpet at the last minute. It sounds like he may not even be playing live but they are going to show a clip from his Crossroads show with that pillar of virtue John Mayer.
Having been on this skeptical road for the last 5 years or so I like the bunny talk- makes me feel sane in what I believe.
Too bad Keith wasn't in Nashville when it flooded, otherwise I'm sure he would have built an ark and saved everyone!
It is a shame that Keith's fansies (as maclen refers to them), don't pay attention to other country artists and realize that there are some that are getting recognition just like Keith.
As far as comparing Kenny's stadium shows to Keith's arena shows, you get more bang for your buck with Kenny. His stadium shows are the equivalent of being at a music festival for a day. Several acts during the show, and I've been at a show where Kenny was on stage for three hours alone.
As a country music fan, sorry, I'm not a big fan of the Grammys!
Talk about generalizing!!! I never said he was the best at anything, I don't think he walks on water nor do I have him up on some pedistal. I've just shown proof that he's not the worst. That his career isn't over like most here would like the public to think it is. All I did was post his stats. Stats the the Grammy people released today. At least I am a fan and have a reason to have an interest in him. Are you getting paid to post continuously people you don't like??? See that makes no sense to me to go on and on about people I don't like. Do you go out of your way to hang out with people in your real life that you don't like, as well??
yes, I am sure it is easy for anyone to have a slip of mind re where they are playing, given they trek through so many places on a tour ...
but, you STILL have not answered the point about despite Keith 'complaining' about having to get past the "sexy" image, he nevertheless has and keeps overtly sexing up his image and actions
“When we remember we are all mad, the mysteries disappear and life stands explained.” Mark Twain
to 123xyz -oops I got it wrong in my last post, ;)
and again you are generalising by saying: "That his career isn't over like most here would like the public to think it is." "most"
everyone has a different angle on it all (KU.NK) and there are many variations ... check thru recent blogs here to find the extended list of variations (I think there were 88 at last count)
#1 I'm not a bunny. You can be a skeptic and still be a fan of Keith's but I get it. When faced with facts that Keith's career isn't where you want to see it, it's easier to put down the poster then to accept the truth.
#2 Every tour, of every performer is rehearsed. Do to staging and lighting they have to be. They all do the same show every night.
#3 What you see as Keith overtly sexing himself up, maybe is just him trying to look his best. I see lots of other performers with colored hair. He's a goodlooking guy, should he perform with a bag over his head? He is who he is. Why should Keith change? I just said he had to fight against that to get people to notice the music. It's others (like critics) that sometimes have a hard time getting past his looks to notice the music but he's not the first. I'm a music fan and have seen this happen time and time again when there is a good looking frontman. All the articles start with how good looking the person is. I think it was Simon Lebon (but I could be wrong on that) that said should I have a face transplant so that I can be taken seriously?
#4 I am a country music fan (not just a fan of Keith's). I have seen many country perfomers in concert. Including Kenny Chesney. I'm going to a huge country music show this weekend. Seeing Montgomery Gentry (this will be the second time I'm seeing them),LBT (saw them many times open for Keith and then also on their own before now), Jack Ingram, Jamey Johnson (met him on my last trip to Nashville), Sarah Buxton (second time seeing her), Eric Church amoung several others. I have seen Sugarland (away from openning for Keith), Toby Keith, Dierks Bentley (several times), Brad Paisley, Wynonna, Big and Rich, Jason Aldean (openning for Keith and on his own), Trace Adkins just to name a few. So I do give my attention to others in the genre. Sorry I'm not a big fan of your fave Jimmy Wayne and yes I've seen him in concert too.
Tara said... "It sounds like he may not even be playing live but they are going to show a clip from his Crossroads show with that pillar of virtue John Mayer."
HA! Yes...chalk up another laughable "collaberation" for the orb...after the fatal one with kidman of course! Can't wait to see the orb stomping his feet with john "sexual ambrosia" mayer...also wonder what the orb's stand on mayer's "jackassery"...
"PLAYBOY: Do black women throw themselves at you?
MAYER: I don’t think I open myself to it. My d*@k is sort of like a white supremacist. I’ve got a Benetton heart and a fuckin’ David Duke c*#k. I’m going to start dating separately from my d**k."
...boy, what a classy dude...BUT...no doubt the orb will openly "vouch" for his new buddy's character! Yeah, Ive heard mayer canceled a couple of foreign gig due to "food poisioning"...I'll bet after his appearence on the show and the Crossroads duet...orb will continue to suffer an excelerated "career poisoning!"
...correction...make that, john "sexual Napalm" mayer! Yeah, alot worse than my inadvertent "ambrosia!" Hey, you think there's any chance the "classic gold" digging orb will cover Ambrosia's 1975 song, "Holding on to Yesterday?"
wow 123xyz, you have a fabulous weekend coming up; enjoy!
You are still missing my point: yes, obviously Keith, like anyone, takes care of how they look, but if he goes the extra mile in sexing himself up and playing on it, then he mustn't complain about it! That's just hypocritical, right?
following my point about Keith's frustration at people stopping at his looks and hawtness and not getting past that to his music, it is quite possible that he realises that many people were interested ONLY in how he looks and moves, and once he married Nicole, many of them may have fallen away ... which could explain the drop in sales after his marriage, if maclen's figures are correct, and if it is not entirely due to the credit crunch.
ps:
a bugbear of mine:
it is, for eg:
quicker than ..., not quicker then ...,
hotter than ..., not hotter then...,
more than Keith charged, not more then Keith charged
easier to put down the poster than to accept, not: easier to put down the poster then to accept,
I'm sorry but I don't see him going any extra mile to sex himself up, anymore then any other performer out there. Go to a Dierks Bentley concert and see how he blatently flirts with the women in his audience. It's all in good fun but he's putting himself out there in a sexy way (and he's married). He also wears tight fitting jeans and plaid shirts onstage. Kenny Chesney puts himself out there in a sexy way (I don't see personally but there are women who swoon at the sight of him). Tim McGraw, same thing. So much so that some fans thought it was OK to try and grope him while he was singing with his wife right there. Sex sells. So I'm not missing your point, I just don't see it. Keith is just being himself. If others see that as sexy, or if all they see is his looks what is he supposed to do? Change being who he is? Do you see what I'm saying? He's not trying to be sexy or going out of his way to be, he just is. That is, in the eyes of not just his fans but many critcs as well as interviewers.
The economy is a big part of why sales are down. Yes, there are exceptions but those exceptions aren't really happening for peformers who are 10 years into their careers (as Keith is) more so if you count The Ranch. The people that are selling for the most part are the very new and very young. Let's see where there will be in 10 years with their careers. Keith is moving into the Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson stage where he still sells plenty of CD's, his videos do pretty well, he has top singles, he does big tours, he gets acknowledged for his work at award shows but will probably lose to the newer, younger performers. It's the nature of the business. No one stays on top forever. All careers of any significance have peaks and valleys.
the point, 123xyz, is that as someone (you?) said, Keith complains about it! Do the others also complain about it? About people not getting past the sexiness to the music? If he doesn't like it, then he should tone it down a bit - but he won't because he knows it turns all the women on big-time. Look at the difference in body language between him and John Mayer in the vid just put up by UM! Tell me that's not pumping up the sexy (KU). In fact, in the older vids of Keith his body language is much more toned down. Maybe he felt self-conscious about his looks in the early days; enough to take measures to change them. I remember once someone saying he didn't smile often because he was self-conscious about his teeth.
Yes other entertainers have complained about the same thing. Like Simon Lebon (from Duran Duran) for one. Not being taking seriously because he was considered too good looking. Jon Bon Jovi had lots of critics in the beginning of his career who only wrote about how good looking he was. It comes up for most good looking musicians. It's a pain because they want to be taken seriously but at the same time they want to be attractive. Because a lot of people listen to music with their eyes first. I met a guy today at the country show. We started talking about other coutry acts we like. He brought up Keith first and right after saying he liked Keith he said "I'm not gay but that's a good looking man". Then he went on to say that he saw him in concert last summer and how he was a great showman.
I was a fan of Keith's before he had his teeth fixed (which didn't happen until 2004) and he smiled just as much before as he does now and it's the only thing he's changed about himself. Keith's also had the shirts unbuttoned that low for years just look at photos of him from 2001-2003.
As for the tight jeans. His jeans are certainly not Kenny Chesney or Dwight Yoakum tight. There have even been times in concert if you are up close to the stage, when Keith is out on the extended stage and you can see him from behind and his jeans are actualy a little baggy in the butt area. So not all of his jeans are tight.

Now, here from the source itself, here is how the just as homogenized orb gets into the "exploit a charity for personal gain" game...from the unifem website itself...
http://www.unifem.org/news_events/story_detail.php?StoryID=1090
UNIFEM Goodwill Ambassador Nicole Kidman Raises more than US$175,000 for UNIFEM’s Programmes in China
"Attended by more than 200 guests, the charity fundraiser took place during her first visit to Hong Kong, and was organized in cooperation with the luxury watch manufacturer OMEGA. The event also featured a private concert by Nicole Kidman’s husband, Grammy Award–winning singer Keith Urban...“Nicole and Keith are two of the world’s great entertainers, but more than that, they are true humanitarians,” said Stephen Urquhart, President of OMEGA. “We are proud to count them among our friends and are delighted that we can make a meaningful contribution to an organization as worthy as UNIFEM.”
I think the "orb is not as bad as kidman" meme is as laughable and as uneven as kidman lobsided boobjob....
...ps...
...just a quick afterthought...
..I wonder who is "bankrolling" kidman and orb's "first trip to Hong Kong?" Unifem or Omega?
About time she grew up and accepted her manly body for what it is:
http://nicole-kidman-journey.blogspot.com/2010/05/my-new-boobs-are-on-display-again.html
Quite curious now what the bulge is under her right underarm. That's gotta hurt. Any ideas? See here:
http://nicole-kidman-journey.blogspot.com/2010/05/my-new-boobs-are-on-display-again.html
Headline alert
As more and more rumors abound of her marriage in trouble Nicole Kidman resorts to more plastic surgery.
perhaps?
I wonder if Keith did this to get a free trip to China on the Nicole express- he certainly didn't talk about it in recent interviews did he?
Nor did he walk the red carpet at the event? Nor were there pictures of him arriving. I am sure if there is sightseeing to be done then we will have our snaps but the rest is
interesting.
Make no mistake, this trip to China is all about HER. Keith is just the hired help, there to perform.
I agree with you rememberwhen. I don't believe the phoney fairytale either.
Ha! Yeah, hoosier they are all having a field day with this one...so lets all enjoy a few internets headlines with photos...

The Keith Urban That Used To Be
...now on the flip side...no way in hell would kidman have hooked up with the "ex-pet shop boy" orb of just a decade ago...if not for the surgeons scalpel!

Really too bad that NK doesn't donate a portion of her Omega sponsored UNIFEM appearance money.
That would be good PR.
That is, if it actually came to fuition.
So NK made more in appearance fee than she helped to raise for UNIFEM - like almost 10 times more. Now that's disgusting. She should donate the difference in her fee to UNIFEM because then the numbers would make more sense.

Cause everyone knows the UN is as pure as the driven snow!
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=UN+scandal&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=
So why did Keith go?
She got a million dollars to play movie star made some money for the UN
got attention (what kind I am not sure)
but
why did he go?
and then no evidence that he was even there- the supportive hubby bit has been played so many times
but nothing like that for this trip. Kinda weird even for these two.
And where was their daughter?

Kidman opens Rome Film Festival
Now as this very enlighten article shows...
http://www.accessmylibrary.com/coms2/summary_0286-20831960_ITM
"This week Nicole Kidman visited Kosovo as a UN Goodwill Ambassador, the latest celebrity to indulge in some 'charitainment'. But is it all for the benefit of the or the stars themselves? KIM BIELENBERG reports.
Europe Intelligence Wire
| October 17, 2006"
Maybe Nicole's new manager told Keith to jump back and not take the focus away from her appearance. Just to shut up and sing.
On the other hand, it could have been his choice...
(But I do wonder how he feels about opening for his wife.)
So as I previously mentioned the NKUseless fansie site has been rendered useless since they "retired" to their private "crack dens"...I've been recently getting my laughs over at monkeyland...seems there is some BIG NEWS added only a new few days ago...

...yes, if your as confused by the posting as the monkeylanders clearly are...it is because this "misleading" and "purposely" vague posting is meant to "falsly imply" that Defying Sales has gone platinum (1mil cds sold)...in the US!
"But as the link clearly leads you to ...is EMI Australia! "
The level of sales needed to reach "platinum" in Oz is only 70,000 units accdg to this site.

"Congratulations Keith..it was a given that Defying Gravity would go platiumn..I'm so, so proud and happy for you

...giving the misleading assumption that Defying Sales had gone platinum here in the US. Because despite the confused comments from other commenters, the original poster..."spunky_e1" has not returned to clarify the thread!
...ps...
..so to continue with the theme of the ever changing state of orb's declining career...seems that kidman is not the only one shilling "swill" for a paycheck!
I'm pretty sure there were Verizon tie-ins on his website.

Maclen
Is it really true? Or was she frowning extra hard?
http://nicole-kidman-journey.blogspot.com/2010/05/no-more-botox-for-kidman.html
Lets clarify
Keith isn't a born again Christian.
That is one of those myths that floats around about him. His beliefs are more New Age than fire and brimstone and recently has been attending Mass regularly with Kidman
and while I know its business
wouldn't it look weird to see a tour promoted by a beer company for a well knows graduate of the Betty Ford Center?

Yep I am looking forward to those backyard gatherings down on the farm
the Mass sightings are in twitterland
a few (which for these two is big) were in LA and the last one was the Sunday of the flood telethon in Nashville. Kidman has been known to attend Mass since her first divorce.
Laura,
Kidman has said that she is not a practicing Catholic. Don't know if Keith has ever had any religious ties.
I personally wouldn't take the word of twitter's as gospel. But some do apparently.
A440- do you mean the trip where Keith almost missed a show because he almost didn't get back in time?
the god talk didn't die didn't it
he used to thank god
now he thanks kidman
his new god
So, in another "E-o'-L-N-M's"
...believe it or not...an actual update on The Danish Girl...seems the page over at IMDB is abuzz with "news" that Uma Thurman will be playing opposite kidman in the film. Seems the rumor originated from this piece at "zimbio"
http://www.zimbio.com/Gwyneth+Paltrow/articles/vjtires00Ix/Robert+Downey+Jr+Told+Gwyneth+Paltrow+Put

I'm not even sure what you are trying to say here but if I am understanding you correctly.....Do you really think Keith or his people put this together? This was a corporate event for Allstate Insurance. Keith was just the entertainer not the organizer. How the people got there or where the event took place wasn't up to Keith.
Well, according to the monkeylanders, this little "private gig" was sponsored by "Bow and Arrow Prod. - All State Insurance"...

...so...orb played a private gig at the tail end of a "conference" for a bunch of insurance salespeople and suits?" Didnt realize the orb was so hard up for a paycheck.
Just curious--anybody know just how much Keith made to play that gig? What's his going rate for a performance?
(Any chance he's available for bar mitzvahs?...)

I'm confused.
Scalping is wrong. That's why it's illegal.

False Hopes Fuel Keith Urban's Ticket Frenzy
"Still, Keith Urban's team told reporters they could not involve themselves "in a ticket-scalping debate."
And there may be a reason that he was reluctant to condemn the scalping.
I can not believe that anyone would be stupid enough to buy a ticket for $600 for anything other than, say, a chance to see Jesus speak, (which would be free,)
but, again, I'm lower middle class, with little to no respect left for anything, (that rhymes with jaded).

He also says he's just a guy that plays with words,
I think KUNK believe they are something special.

HA! Plays with words?
Why's It Feel So Long
Songwriters: Urban, Keith
"I look in my watch
Stare at the clock
They don't move
I don't either
I'm just frozen on the couch
The seconds feel like hours
An hour is like a day
It's a twilight zone in this home
When you go away."
...more like he hunts them down and strangles words!
So, it was the return of "cletus "who has the best seats now" orb...

"Who has the best seat's now?!"
“The Joker.”
Some things haven't changed in the last eight years. Why bother paying big bucks to see him in concert anymore? Just throw in your old LRN DVD in the player and watch that instead!

I sometimes wish "other" comments were as "precise" and "exact" as mine are...as I try to eliminate any possible misunderstanding and misinterpretation of my exact thoughts and opinions...that must be why my comments usually tease the word limit to comments on this thread!!

Which was the exact case with "you know who?
ps....Kidman!
So, a recent perusal of the NKUseless site revealed these interesting notices...first on the homepage...

The thing I admire the most about him is his commitment to sobriety!
btw, it's abc, not ABC
yes maclen, next up - the CMT awards show June 9. Keith is nominated (which guarantees NK a front row seat). Its fan voted, so any perdictions?
Lets see what body parts she'll have on display this time for attention.

I REPEAT MYSELF!!!
abc to 123xyz:
you said:
And, again, I REPEAT:
it's abc, not ABC
"Keith doesn't miss you, he's got plenty of fans buying up those seats."
Yes, well, apparently those Eagles' concert tickets aren't selling like hot cakes to those "plenty of fans" either!
abc, you take yourself way too seriously.
Can he be my fantasy boyfriend?
No, wait, can nicole be my fantasy boyfriend?
yuck, strike that

So, in this edition of "Late Night MUSings"...
And therefore I also made the case that paisley...based on the average ticket prices and average grosses...actually had sold
more tickets than orb. Lets look at the averages...
www.pollstarpro.com/.../2009YearEndTop50WorldwideConcertTours.pdf
2009 year end top 50 grossers
And could it also be that orb has basically dragged himself out to this "on the cheap" tour because his cd "Defying Sales" sold so poorly...he just doesnt have a choice in the matter?
...ps...
...now looking over the year end chart of top grossing tours of 2009...I just noticed another interesting...and very telling stat of the 3 country tours...just to review again...simply to show that these numbers "hold up" across the board...
123xyz
please stick to the point I was making ... you're still going around in circles!
ps, I agree with what you say re repetitive comments by musicians in concert ... thing is everything ends up on the internet so a bigger audience gets to hear the repetition ... in any case, it would be hard to have something fresh and new to say every time ...
at times, Keith has gotten the place wrong where he is playing so best he stick to his safe script ...
"...as to the "live orb"...last year I mocked the absurbity of the vastly more successful swifty OPENING for the mediocre orb...and I joked last year that in a years time "orb would be opening for swifty?" Well, I may have been off as to swifty...BUT..."

Ha! Hilarious...so, after my rant on how the NKUseless site was "no more"...based on it being in "archive mode"...I notice this mysterious "NEW" thread on the new and basically abandoned "Kidman News Desk"...

A Very, Very Little Note On Rabbit Hole
...EXCEPT...it is not a new thread!
If you have tickets from
$40+ t0 $120 the average price for the tickets is in the $80 range and was the price for most of the seats at the stadium I saw him at).

Being a part of this concert, supporting the efforts of the GRAMMY Foundation and the Southern California Tennis Association Foundation, is something that I feel very strongly about, because I know firsthand what art, music and sport can do for our youth."
In 2001, the Country Music Association honored Keith Urban with its Horizon Award, designating him a talented artist with a bright future and to this day Urban remains the only Horizon Award winner in history to go on to win the CMA's Top Male Vocalist of the Year, a title he's captured three times, and the coveted Entertainer of the Year.
PRICELESS!
Thanks for finding that music!

On the 1987 REM Tour they put a big screen up that said we are glad to be back in ____
we hope you are all having a good time- didn't have to repeat it
the only thing that isn't rehearsed in a KU show is the solos -
it seems a little forced and I don't go to 50 shows.
will Kidman show up for the CMT awards?
Do you go out of your way to hang out with people in your real life that you don't like, as well??
to xyz123
yes, I am sure it is easy for anyone to have a slip of mind re where they are playing, given they trek through so many places on a tour ...
but,
you STILL have not answered the point about despite Keith 'complaining' about having to get past the "sexy" image, he nevertheless has and keeps overtly sexing up his image and actions
???
I've seen Johnny Cash
If that's not country,
you can kiss my ***
(oops, a little David Alan Coe for your consideration this evening)
No, it's:
I've seen the Grand 'Ole Opry,
and I've met Johnny Cash. . .
if that ain't country. .
you know the rest.

Yeah, Ive heard mayer canceled a couple of foreign gig due to "food poisioning"...I'll bet after his appearence on the show and the Crossroads duet...orb will continue to suffer an excelerated "career poisoning!"
...ps...
...correction...make that, john "sexual Napalm" mayer!
That's just hypocritical, right?
following my point about Keith's frustration at people stopping at his looks and hawtness and not getting past that to his music, it is quite possible that he realises that many people were interested ONLY in how he looks and moves, and once he married Nicole, many of them may have fallen away ... which could explain the drop in sales after his marriage, if maclen's figures are correct, and if it is not entirely due to the credit crunch.
ps:
a bugbear of mine:
it is, for eg:
quicker than ..., not
quicker then ...,
hotter than ..., not
hotter then...,
more than Keith charged, not
more then Keith charged
easier to put down the poster than to accept, not:
easier to put down the poster then to accept,
a comparative always uses 'than' ...
simple but big!
;)
Can I just say...
I have to agree that Keith Urban tries DELIBERATLY to be sexy. With the shirts half-way buttoned, and the tight pants, :)
the point, 123xyz, is that as someone (you?) said, Keith complains about it!
The hypocrisy is my point!
