They should be more worried about Nicole...
It's interesting in a way how the PR machine is working overtime - all worried about Keith Urban and his impending fatherhood. Okay, so the man doesn't know the name for that jumpsuit thing nor does he understand what an ultrasound is or what it means. He has even been a bit on the blank side when speaking about the spawning of the child inside. But make no mistake, once the child that is perceived to be his comes into this world, he will be a great companion. If you have ever seen him with a child you know he understands them. He gets them. I once was standing in a line to meet him and there was a little girl of about seven or eight ahead of me. Now there had been a lot of people in this line, and Keith was signing autographs and talking and really communicating with every person who came to meet him. Finally, this little girl got up there and she got the worse case of shyness, but Keith came from behind the table where he was sitting and asked the girl to sit on top of the table and he proceeded to talk to her at eye level. Before too long they were like old friends. Yeah, we of the jaded eye might see that and say ‘well he is playing a game or acting a part’, but having seen that first hand, it showed me that the man at that time understood that a little girl was overwhelmed meeting her favorite singer. I give Keith some credit for understanding people; for seeing things in them that he can relate to. Of course you may be thinking we are softening here at Urban Myths. No. I think Keith is just as calculating as anyone about his career, but I also think there is a human in there and that human understands others - especially children. I don't think anyone should worry about him being a father.
As for Kidman, look at her relationship with Connor and Bella. Does she even have one? Look also at her relationship with her own parents. You rarely see them together. No lunches with Mum. No Daddy showing up on the set. The only time this happened was during the filming of Fur where it was rumored she had just broken up with Lenny. Her parents aren't a factor in her life. That is sad. When you are in the spotlight there is a need to have a strong family bond off the set and beyond the stage. Kidman really doesn't have that. She never has, because her one true love was often making his own movies or being with his children or mother and sisters. Kidman apparently has a close bond with her sister but did not share the emotion that her sister did during their father’s recent surgery. Kidman was at a hockey game or an awards show or painting the sky with her humanitarian causes for the UN. The fact was, she wasn't with her father. Has she even seen him since the surgery? She has the money and the success that she never has to work again if she chooses. She chooses to work and that’s fine; many people do. However, this child isn't a prop, nor is it something to use to fulfill some need inside her that is missing. It is a little human who will need her Mum and Pop. Pop seems to understand that it is important to take time out to play peek-a-boo at a coffee shop. Mum needs to learn that the baby will have its own agenda and it will have nothing to do with a photo op in US magazine. But Mum is emotionally backward, so maybe our expectations are too high. Best of luck, Baby Urban! You are going to need it.

I agree wholeheartedly with paragraph 1 UM. I know Keith will be a good & happy father - I never doubted it. I think that kid will be everything to him.
Paragraph 2 on the other hand, I'm not so sure I agree with. While it appears that she doesn't have those "close" relationships with her parents or her adopted children, there may very well be factors that we are not privy to that keep us from seeing the real picture (spin that however you wish UM). I'm sitting right in the middle of the fence on this one and withholding judgement.
this is one time, i hope i have to eat crow. that baby deserves 2 good parents.
don't hold your breath on that fence notachance....i hope i'm wrong and she surprises me. i wouldn't want to be "right" at the expense of a little innocent life.
i agree that keith will be a good father....
But make no mistake, once the child that is perceived to be his comes into this world...
C'mon Umyths, get with the program. This baby is his.
Now, the PR machine questioning Keith's readiness? Hardly. This is just celebrity puff pieces to fill up space written by the tabs until the baby arrives. Nicole is already a parent times two, so despite what the beliefs are of the skeptics, questioning NK's readiness isnt going to happen. Now Keith's is a different story because he is a first time dad. I can guarantee you if Brangelina's twins were Brad's first children we'd be seeing dozens of silly filler stories like "Brad, First-Time Dad: Is He Ready For Twins?" It all stems from the myth that men are always reticent to become fathers and mothers just know how to handle everything that comes with being a parent. Which is ridiculous but thats what the tabs play off of for material. But since this is baby 5 and 6 for the couple, we're getting pieces that are retreads from the Vanity Fair article, numerous reports that Jolie is communicating with her estranged father, and that Brad's tattoo means "nothing". Why anyone gives a fig about any of these blurbs is beyond me, whether you like KUNK and Brangelina or not. With either couple they are of no importance.
With Kidman's parents, i think they are very much a part of her life. Where is this questioning coming from that Nicole doesn't care about her parents and she doesn't spend enough time with them? Is it because we were so used to seeing Keith with his mum? Why does no one bring up the fact we saw Bob, his father, much much less. Does that mean Keith has a bad relationship with him? IMO Keith was around his mum so much because of his addiction. He needed her there and whether or not it actually helped his situation i cant say. But I do believe she was around because Keith on his own was a less-than- optimally-functioning adult. I think the separation now is a good thing. He needs to be an independent adult with his own family. How odd it would be if after Keith was married he hung out with his mum all the time. It wouldn't be healthy for the marriage or for the relationship between mother and son.
During Anthony's surgery Nicole was in another country. Why put a pregnant woman who can do nothing but sit, wait, and worry, in a emotionally tense environment? Antonia lives in Sydney and it would have been easy for her to be there at the hospital. But thats really beside the point because what could the daughters do? Antonia attended an awards show soon after the surgery. Does she love her father any less? Is she selfish for leaving the hospital and picking up an award? Unifem is close to her mother's heart and its likely her parents wanted her to attend the press conference. We'll never know the exact details but leave it to UMyths to speculate the worst.
I too have seen Keith first hand with kids. He was great with them. He was kind, warm and gentle. It was very cute. There's no doubt in my mind that he'll be a great father. I just wish it was with someone who would be a great mother.
I don't have a glimmer of hope that Nicole will be a good mother. Just looking at the relationship with her kids she already has and her self absorbed ways. I just don't see it. Sorry. Regardless of what people might think about Tom and him taking the kids from her and scientology...blah, blah, blah. IF she was a good, caring mother she would of and could have fought for them. She would see them more often and they wouldn't be calling Katie "Mom."
I do hope that this kid gets the love and attention from Keith that it deserves and I know it will. But I see Nicole not wanting to be bothered with it....unless there's some sort of photo op that needs to be done.
I'm not so sure about Keith being a good father. Yes Keith does good around children. One difference this child will rely on Keith 24/. This child will be going home with him, not someone else. All those other children only was in Keith's life for a few seconds at a time. Hardly time enough to tell if Keith is going to be a good father or not. For this child I hope and pray that he will be. This child needs at least on parent that will care for him/her.
My question is not "Will Keith be a good father?". I think all men have the potential to be good fathers - some just don't use it. My question is "Will Nicole keep Keith from being a good father?". She brow beat him into skipping the Grammy's to sit and watch a photo shoot that wouldn't appear in a magazine for 4 months for a movie that won't open until Nov. She manipulates any and everyone she possibly can. Will she use the child as leverage to get what she wants? I think she will - or will at least try to. Keith hasn't seemed to stand up to Nic too much of their marriage so far that we've seen. Will that change once the baby comes? Will he stand up to the wife for what's in the child's best interest? I hope so! But only time will tell.

72008/chenoweth-sends-kidman-good-
luck
"Actress KRISTIN CHENOWETH has sent her BEWITCHED co-star NICOLE KIDMAN warm wishes ahead of the birth of her first child.
Chenoweth - who starred alongside Kidman in the 2005 movie - says her actress pal is excited about the arrival of her first biological child with husband Keith Urban.
She tells Usmagazine.com "I want her to have an easy delivery (and) a healthy baby.
"I know she's so excited about this pregnancy. So good, warm wishes."
Kidman has two adopted children with ex-husband Tom Cruise: Isabella, 16 and 13-year-old Connor."
With nothing of her own to say it seems Nicole is once again planting leaks that others in her field like her and speak well and positively of her. George came out and said the stories were false. Renny unfortunately kept her mouth shut. Will "competitor Chenoweth" let it go or come out and say it is a false article?
I don't think we can say its a false article just yet. Chenoweth has a reputation of being a sweet woman, sickeningly sweet, in my opinion, actually. She is very much the bubbly gung-ho "musical theatre" type personality. It wouldn't be far off to think she would actually send out congrats publicly. And despite them both of doing Springfield biopics, their very different acting and singing styles will create two very different movies. Each movie will appeal to a different kind of moviegoer. While i think Chenoweth has always been a good comedic actress, her usual strident musical theatre singing style is not music to my ears. Assuming she would actually sing the songs, KC's renditions most likely, even with vocal adjustments, would not be my cup of tea. I recently heard Springfield's cover of Herb Alpert's "This Guys In Love With You". It made me believe that with more training Kidman could pull off doing her own singing. But then again Marion Cotillard didn't for "La Vie En Rose" so its certainly not a requirement.
CJ: since that article you mentioned quoted the source as US Magazine, did you bother to check there? Lol ... of course not! Skeptics are too quick to jump to "conclusions" without any fact-checking.
Here's the US Magazine article: http://www.usmagazine.com/costar-reese-witherspoon-and-jake-gyllenhaal-are-perfect?page=1&live=1
'Co-Star: Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal Are "Perfect"
Monday June 16, 2008
What are Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal like as a couple?
"Perfect!" Witherspoon's Four Christmases co-star Kristin Chenoweth told Usmagazine.com at the Tony Awards in NYC Sunday.
Chenoweth is a big fan of Witherspoon.
"We played sisters," she says. "I loved it!"
Off-set, the petite Broadway star says she'd happily double date with Witherspoon and Gyllenhaal.
"It'd be fun!" she says
Chenoweth also spoke about her Bewitched co-star Nicole Kidman.
"I want her to have an easy delivery [and] a healthy baby," she said. "I know she's so excited about this pregnancy. So good, warm wishes.
Chenoweth revealed she's been dating Charlie McDowell — the writer/director son of Mary Steenburgen — for "two months, three months.”
"She did a film with my mother, so we met on set," McDowell told Us. "I kept asking her out and then it finally worked."
Thanks sonora!
Yes, the skeptics definitely have a habit of presenting things without the "full story".
"And despite them both of doing Springfield biopics, their very different acting and singing styles will create two very different movies."
Yes, but that is if both movies get made. However, if it becomes a one or the other situation then they will be competitors and I hope Kidman loses.
Snorea, I posted my source and the article stated the quoted source. I don't spend hours researching and reading every article to see which 3 words were changed where by which source. If others want to that is there option. I thought some might be interested. If not, fine, skip my post. Just because you don't care, or care too much, you don't get to deprive other readers of making their own decisions.
And of course it might be true. It might be true it's a boy as Hilton stated. There are a lot of "mights but probably nots" surrounding Kidman.
cj, words werent changed. Thats not even the point. You assume its a plant before even checking it out. And i just love how every time a non-skeptic gives the full details its because we have nothing better to do than spend our time searching the internet. Yeah right. When the shoe is on the other foot and skeptics are posting link after link of photos theyve amassed its just fine. We know those photos didnt just magically appear on posters hard drives. They took the time to find them and save them to their computer.
This blog is supposed to be about the truth. Its really hard to do that if you dont take the time to research things. And in this case it took all of 30 seconds probably. I would have done what sonora did, but i missed the fact that US magazine was in your post. I thought it was a random story with no real source behind it.
My point was that an article is usually leaked one place, 50 places pick it up and run it just about verbatim, only changing a couple words to "make it there own". As I stated before, I came across the article and tried to share with the class. I know Aussies easily find articles we Americans don't have (as) easy access to. I was trying to make access for them a little easier. Please forgive me for trying to be nice. I won't bother posting the popsugar preview of the July Vogue.
At the moment, no doubt, the orb will run, jump, and fly when told... just as I believe he will be the one who will need to sacrifice for this kid and for this marriage to continue. I have not seen any indication whatsoever that kidman was willing to sacrifice anything for her former "kids", let alone this next one, which to kidman is simply a new baby magazine cover...
http://perezhilton.com/2008-06-17-exquisite
get a load of this!
I agree maclen, the only one to sacrifice or compromise for the good of this child will be Keith.
IMO I don't believe kidman's "mothering" will last very long-she will get tired of the baby crying and wanting attention and that will be the end of it for her.
I don't know if Keith will be a good father or not but I want to believe he will, if allowed.
p.s. that perez link is especially for maclen - hee

Everyone else might be keeping their attention on Nicole Kidman's barely there bump, but we’re also concerned with a more damning, just as suspicious matter. The fact that N.K. still hasn’t owned up to her involvement in that unforgivable (and as yet, still unexcused) bodyguard attack from March. We can’t believe the whole mess has vanished into thin air, just the way Kidman & Co. want it to, right? Another just as curious disappearing act is the photog agency itself, Flynet, which posted the disturbing body-goon bash vid. The Flynet photo guys were prolly thinking the whole sad sitch was a blessing in disguise, since nothing gets your name more press than having an A-List actress involved in a brutal beatdown. But flynetonline.com hasn’t posted a damn thing, pics or otherwise, on its blog since May 9.
'Course, the agency is still selling photos to other websites, including a recent one of Miss Kiddy and Keith Urban leaving a Nashville Starbucks, but its own HQ seems left for dead. What gives, babes? Did you get some superunder-the-table payday from Nicky to shut your mouths and say buh-bye to your site? Wouldn’t be surprised if Kid-hon's picked up a few tricks from her marriage to Tom.

wonder what his big "pay-off" is gonna be???
Exclusives are what all the sites crow about... JJ, GG... no doubt hilton will be getting them as well... the only leverage kidman has is the kid... and that simply points to names and due dates...
There is NO WAY you can tell if a man you have seen for a grand total of 25 seconds with a child will be a good father. That kid's parents paid for concert tickets. Of course he's going to be nice to the kid. There is no parallel whatsoever that can be drawn from a 25 second meet and greet and being a full time parent. The man is an addict. He admits to suffering from depression and having a short temper. He also admits to not really wanting to have kids, at least not this soon. He appears to not interested in baby stuff, like ultrasounds and "jumpsuits." I'd say the chances are, based on who he REALLY is, that he WILL NOT be a good father. And to say that you can predict he will be, just because you saw him interact for 25 seconds with the child of a paying customer, is ridiculous.
