A fond farewell to Keith Urban... thanks for the ride...

You cut the ride too short, dude. We were on a rollercoaster ride for a while. It was a wild ride while it lasted. I think I held on just a little too long; I wish I would have bailed before I got to know you too well.

I found you through You'll Think of Me. I didn't listen to country music at all at the time. I heard YTOM on my AC station and found myself wanting to discover who you were. Well, I certainly did. I saw you in concert and was hooked. I made some lifelong friends, some of the best people I know and will ever know, because of you. I traveled the country to see you in concert. I discovered all of your music and loved it all. I spent big bucks for tickets, just to see you up close. Unfortunately, shortly after I found you... you found HER. You got married and ended up in rehab just a few short months later. You emerged from rehab a changed person. A healthier person, but your musical soul was adrift... your muse was drowned by the celebrity that became your wife and your life.

I've held on to the memories and had hopes for a great recovery... only to have new music thrust at me like Sweet Thing, Kiss A Girl and other adolescent yearning songs. The only song I liked from Defying Gravity was Til Summer Comes Around, and you topped that with a superb video. Thank you for that. BUT then....

Just a few days later, you were playing and singing a tribute song for Simon Baker, an honest actor from Oz. It would have been great for you to sing and play to him, but your wife made an idiot of herself prancing about behind you, and singing off-key with you, as well.

I've suffered through all the photo calls arranged by your wife when you chose to be seen getting coffee, shopping, going to the doctor, taking your daughter for a walk and to the zoo, etc., knowing that it's what SHE wants. But is it really what you want? Do you honestly like living your life in the tabloids? Are money and fame so important that things that you used to care about (your parents, your brother's family, God, and your fans, to name a few) are now trivial?

If this is what you want your life to be, then so be it. You are not the person nor the artist I thought you were. I became a fan of yours for the music, for the emotions, for the thrill of being a fan of a true artist.

You have proven me wrong; you aren't the person I thought you were. Godspeed, Mr. Urban, and good luck. At least I can thank you for my lifelong friends and for some great memories. What will you have when your rollercoaster ride is over?

Cheers,
A former fan

Yes, I call this the "Dancing Monkey and the Orban Grinder"...Based on this little embarrassing stunt, I wouldnt be surprised if this isnt a step in an actual "duet" that kidman will demand of orb... or more likely in the immediate future, kidman will demand that she "spontaneously" jumps onstage at an orb live gig and perform this little bit of "vaudville"... For I have no doubt kidman and orb believe that this pitiful amatuer bit was a massive success! And I also wouldnt be surprised if they repeated it... because I tell you, nothing they've done til now will get them back to A list stature!

He will have a marriage that lasts the trials & tribulations of HollyWIERD & the love of his wife. He will have a precious daughter & 2 wonderful step children to watch grow up & become very caring & sharing adults. He will have the love of his family, ALWAYS. He will have a continuing AWESOME musical career. The fame may be fleeting but the most important things in life aren't things. Keith Urban will be fine.

They don't have to work their way BACK to A-list status -- they ARE A-list. An A-lister could not get the coveted spot as FIRST presenter at the Golden Globes -- Nicole got it. All the stars of "Nine" were A-listers -- Nicole included. Maybe the film wasn't a big hit, but it was a film full of A-listers. None of the performers can be blamed for its lack of popularity -- the blame goes to the producer, the director, and the writers.

An A-lister would not receive an American Music Award and a People's Choice Award plus garnering 4 Grammy nominations. Keith got all those.

What are the comments back in Nashville on the dog-and-pony show? Tho I didn't write that blog, it is exactly what I'd want to write. I'm terribly disappointed with him, and am seriously thinking of disengaging from his work altogether.

He has attached himself to a woman who is a triple threat: can't sing, can't dance and can't act. She may be an abject humiliation to him (or not--Keith has mentioned having a "crude" side to himself, as have others), but it got him what he wanted: luxury homes, luxury treatment and a luxury life.

But as I mentioned in a previous post, it comes at the price of him whoring himself.

I can't father how much further he has to fall...

Tara, the blog is not going away. This entry was a letter from a former fan. The blog will continue to follow Mr. Urban's rollercoaster ride.

Wow - for once I think we got see the REAL Keith Urban & Nicole Kidman, sans papparazzi, and some of you really believe she forced him to do that? Can you even keep a straight face while saying that? Absurdity at it's peak IMO. They were among friends, doing what friends do. How many of us have been to a friends party and done silly stuff because it was their birthday, etc?

And did anyone catch them both saying bullshit in that little diddy? Not for one second would they have planned that for public consumption.

I thought it was refreshing and I hope to see more stuff like it - proves they are human and not in it just for the money.

OK what I want to know is who is employing the "new ass kissers" to respond to these blogs? Maybe they aren't new but re-invented with new names, but in any case they are seriously delusional. (yes, this is coming from a KU fan and he isn't making it any easier to stay one!)

The fansies suffer from "see...speak...hear no evil" on their own fansie sites...just take a stroll to the NKusers...and you will NOT see many comments or reactions to the utter critical or box office failure of Nine nor the utter failure of Nine to win one frakin' award this weekend. So, being unable to release that obvious frustation over at the "fansie site"...(they obviously relegated the whimpering for kidman's failures to the "private section!)...they come her to defend the sheer failure. Yes..."it's totally dellusional to state that NIne is another total flop on kidman's roster"...but...she looked "mahvellous dears" in that fleshed colored dress...she and the orb were "clever and witty" in that vaudville dancing monkey act my 13 year old nieces could top with a single day of rehearsal! I'd say the quality of that bit is a true indication of the state of their careers.

...how's that "GENIUS" comment... "Not planned for Public comsumption!"... look now! They got a camera on simon and wife...they got another one on the dancing monkey and king of monkeyland. Nawww...not planned at all! And again, they look like even bigger idiots with the clear and proffesionally shot video!

I am glad the blog isn't going away but do mourn the loss of a skeptic

yeah Joy they have their wonderful family to celebrate.. maybe she could have skipped GDayLA or the Globes and spent some time with Connor on his birthday which was Sunday.

A440 said...

She didn't skip G'Day or the Globes but she did skip hanging with her castmates at the Weinstein After Party:

Meanwhile, the cast of the Globes-snubbed "Nine" partied nearby at Bar 210, but not necessarily together.

While Kate Hudson played third wheel with Fergie and her hubby, Josh Duhamel, Nicole Kidman sat with her better half, Keith Urban, at the opposite end of the Martini & Rossi party.

"It was awkward that she wasn't sitting with the rest of her cast," a partygoer says. "She barely even said hello."

And forgive my typo in my previous post. I meant to write "I can't fatham how much further he has to fall...." But if she keeps this arrogance up, it cannot be much further. It'll be guilt by association: who wants to be with him when he is constantly with HER?

Verity said...

They sat with the Nine cast and director through the whole show! Why would they say hello at a party to people they've been with for more than 3 hours. They went to two parties, Miramax and CAA.

KUNK were spotted out with Kate outside of work seeing movies and hanging out. The girls were supposed to go lingerie shopping one day but it got canceled because of scheduling. They've all said this stuff in interviews but you seem to want to ignore it.

I understand why this blog keeps going. You choose to believe the gossip rags. And by arrogance you must mean Nicole Kidman not giving a crap about what some strangers think!

maclen said...

"KUNK were spotted out with Kate outside of work seeing movies and hanging out."

So newbie, is this "indisputable fact"...these supposed "spottings" verified beyond your comment on this blog...or did you just read it off of some gossip rag or fansie site and then chose to believe it?

Well, A440...believe it or not...it does seem to be the meme for kidman...

http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2010/01/everybody_scored_at_the_golden.html?f=most-commented-24h-5

Everybody Scored at the Golden Globes

"Harvey Weinstein threw a Golden Globes after-party at the Beverly Hilton, and Tarantino happily chatted up the guests all night. The cast of Nine, however, seemed more "fractured" by their loss at the Globes, and Nicole Kidman "did not appear to be enjoying herself.(But when is that not the case?)"

Kidman IS verifiably notorius for dissing failures she is a part of...she did blow off the premieres for "The Invasion" and "Stepford Wives" when it was clear they were catastrophes. And with her dead career, she has plenty to be very dummed about!

Tara said...

Keith Urban and Kate Hudson two people cut from the same cloth.

Yeah they went to the movies - it was the New York premiere of Nine
and Arod had no money for popcorn so Keith paid for theirs.

why would Kidman buy fancy underwear?
From that dress on Sunday she doesn't wear it.

love how People and a couple of other sites noted that Kidman was only drinking soda on Sunday evening. Probably another bambino alert or was it because she drank enough on Saturday evening?

What are you talking about Willis?

Fresh off the white powder mishap, the whole Nine fiasco, the speculation in a blind item that things in KUNK land where less than monogomas, (and that was just the last what, two weeks)? One more time,

EVERYTHING THEY DO IS FOR PUBLIC CONSUMPTION.

They were at a PUBLIC function in front of a very PUBLIC ground at a G'Day LA dinner that is highly PUBLISIZED and covered for the PUBLIC.

IF IT DOESN'T MAKE THEM MONEY OR FURTHER THEM IN SOMEWAY THEY DO NOT LEAVE THE HOUSE.

You will notice that the day after the happy comments about Nicole's "dancing" and "dueting" with her "man", she went to the cinema with her assistant/friend?. This is repeated over and over, good press means more press, bad press means tuck tail and no press until things quiet down for a while.

Good grief, everytime there's a new student we have to start all over again. Perhaps we should ask UM to make a SEPERATE posting board for ALUMNI, as other sites do so we are kept from having to constantly re-teach the basics of watching this woman at work.

Now, can we turn our attention to the former fan blog? I have something I'd like to bring up, but I'm a little leary to touch it until the rattle and bib crowd are down for their naps.

Well, actually hoosier, occasionally when a seeming actual newbie appears to guffaw in utter horror at all us "meanies"...questioning this talentless hack...daring to deny her total perfection and undeniable grace...I like to have a few giggles on their account. But then it gets tired very quickly, and they just slink away...and then the truly pathetic will slink back...thinking they can pull their "wooly" fakery over my grey matter! Again, it's gives you an idea at there own desperation as kidman sinks to the level of the lohans or hiltons. So, just bring up whatever you want despite the peanut gallery. What about the "former fan blog?"

Verity said...

You don't know when to quit maclen. I am Verity and I've been using it on E! online. I used the name nicfan on the S_M blog because I didn't have a Blogger account until recently. I don't need to pretend. That's the difference between you and me. You know what I said is true and you could post it if you wanted but that would be too much. All your fakery is undone the second you post because it's half-truths and your imagination running on overtime. You lost another skeptic and can't admit why your own ship is sinking. Do you know why there's only a few of you left at this place and in the KUNK threads? Most people have woken up to the stupidity of it all. It's been going on coming up on 5 years. You jumped on an extremely leaky boat. Let me remind you you've only got two hands.

When you try to color us as pathetic but don't even try to refute the facts about what I said went on during the time the cast was in NY, we know exactly why things are the way they are here.

I am a skeptic and I have been away from all boards for a long while. I abandoned the board ships because frankly no one gets along and I am tired of trying not prove anything. It is a gossip discussion site, plain and simple. Please don't lump all skeptics together. I don't really care if you love the Kidmans or hate them. We all see things differently and I see an extremely talented, gifted musician who sold out because he was just a tad impatient to wait for it. He was there, the awards were within reach. He was Nashville's darling. I believe Kidman will be his swan song. His main interest right now is living the high life. Basically to me that is all he ever really wanted. Whether they love each other or not, whether that kid is theirs or purchased, this marriage to me is strictly to one up Tom Cruise. It was Kidman's big FU to her one true love. Nothing else matters to her other than keeping up with the Cruises. I believe those blind items scream KUNK. I am tired of his nonsense and hers. They are idiots and I pray they do not bring another innocent child into this charade. Sunday has enough problems already in her young life with those two. I like reading all opinions, I just can't stand it when everyone has to get pissy with each other. Everybody knows everything and nothing. Eventually the truth will come out and I believe it won't be pretty.

Chris Bertolini said...

Well said Martingano! I think this whole charade will come crashing down around them (sooner than later) and I too believe for NK its all in the name of the big FU to her one true love and to try and "one up" the Cruise's any way she possibly can (maybe she should start with remembering her other children's names).

maclen said...

Yes Martingano, the timing of the "union" points to a simple PR arrangement. It's just too plainly "co-incidental" that she becomes seriously attached within weeks of the cruister's whirlwind courtship!...
...So, I'm reading that the orb is scheduled to perform for clooney's telethon on behalf of Haiti relief...a noble effort...get funds to an immediate emergency. Well, that covers the orb...but what of kidman...as the celebs line up to appear...just heard ellen degeneres on her show that clooney called her, and she is going to be on the "phones". So what of kidman? Now, can you just picture kidman sitting on the celeb panel...on the phone taking donations from "the people?" Does anyone believe that she will agree to simply take donations on the phone from real people? Well, clearly, I dont...I figure kidman, if she does agree to be there...she will come out...simply for the cameras... and read some canned speech...and then she is outta there! I dont see kidman sitting there taking calls all night...like the other celebs...it would be too much effort! Serious...can you picture kidman sitting there, answering the phones and actually talking to regular people? Kidman has to be different...she has to "stand out"...she needs to be the special "diva"... And yes, I may turn out to wrong...but I'm waiting for kidman to prove me wrong! So which is it? Does she "answer phones"...or does she get a "speech for the cameras?"

hoosierlady said...

What concerns me more than anything about all of this is that people seem to have changed their focus completely regarding entertainment.

When I go to a concert or a movie, I pay my money, I go in and watch someone ENTERTAIN me. Then I leave and go home to my life. I do not know the person or persons that are playing the music, or on the stage, have no desire to, because they are doing nothing more than performing the function of ENTERTAINING ME. Do you understand?

It seems to me that something very basic has shifted. It is almost as if they are no longer the hired help, i.e. the ENTERTAINMENT, as they should be, but more we go and pay them so we can watch them minister to us with their talent. Am I making sense?

This is WRONG. We are the consumer. There are a million Keith Urbans, they are born everyday. He just got lucky. There are a million Nicole Kidmans.

To spend major money traveling and to spend a large amount of time and energy focusing on any person that does not fall into your circle of intamacy, that is, your family or friends, to me seems very strange.

What these people do, not only KUNK but all of these people on TV and movies, the entertainment idustry, isn't reality, it's ENTERTAINMENT. They don't know you, you don't know them. They don't want to know you, why would they, and if you want to know them, I have to ask what is missing from your realm of real life that makes you want to seek it in the fantasy world they create?

Tara said...

the rumor is she is speaking to the cameras where Keith is performing with Sheryl Crow and his old swimming buddy Kid Rock.

You can chart the early part of this contract by looking at what Kidman did as compared to her one true love.

I find it funny that Kidman mentioned at GDayLA that she and Keith met there five years ago but she forgot that little bit about how she gave him her number and he never bothered to call it. She sought him out six months later through other people.

"Tom Cruise and Julia Roberts have already been announced as answering the phones during the telethon."

...according to press release site People.com...cruise has already agreed to "answer phones." Now, if this is true...no way in hell would cruise agree to answer phones if kidman was going to answer phones! That is my take, if cruise is going to be there, it is because kidman will not be there!

maclen said...

"the rumor is she is speaking to the cameras where Keith is performing with Sheryl Crow and his old swimming buddy Kid Rock."

Yeah, that would make sense, typical kidman half assed contribution...appear through a video link up...well before I read cruise may be handling phones...I figured kidman would NOT handle phones! That's too much work! So, again, we shall see.... and hoosier, what I think your talking about is celeb "fanaticism"...we got a taste of that with those orb "E board" rejects and whackos...couldnt stand the blogs bashing orb so they struck out at the users with online intimidation.

"Oh, well said Martingano, hoosierlady and Maclen (your last point) !!

It's been obviously clear that kidman is what I call a "limo ambassador"...she is all about the ceremony of the press conference, the congressional hearing...showing up to the UN for the "pagentry" of turning in a "online petition" under the lights and the cameras...but when it comes to actually visiting the unfortunates in the foreign lands she claims to be so concerned for...she is a no show! Yes, she can submit a "photo" for the UN's campaign...but that is her limit. And my take is she will not take "calls" at this Haiti telethon. And again, kidman is just not "a people person"...and she'll leave that work to others...just give her a camera to look into and a canned speech and she is there! Part of kidman's overall "lack of appeal" is her transparent disengenuous and shallow demeaner. That "empathetic schpiel" she tries to emote with her minimal gestures and posturing aint fooling anyone!

BAFTA Awards Announce Nominations

...after getting 10 noms for Critics Choice, and the most noms, 5, for the Golden Globes... and winning none...in the Baftra's, Nine got a single nom...for make up and hair. I doubt if WeinCo will have a full table at those awards!

that's brilliant!!"

Yes...and actually, my incorrect variation! The actual quote from this review...

http://www.cinepassion.org/Archives/AvatarBonesSherlock.html

"Karaoke night at Victoria's Secret, Nine simply and limply embodies that directorial barrenness."

...and of the 105 rotten reviews at rottentomatoes...it is the best description of the film!

So, as predicted, kidman got her "face time" with the camera and her "canned little speech" at the haiti telethon...(being chummy with clooney no doubt helps!)...and despite the wrong reporting from People.com that cruise would be manning phones...kidman, again as surmissed, did not "canvass the phones." but...a few other observances... early camera pans of the "phone bank" saw julia roberts working the phones...and of course...being VERY chummy with clooney, roberts also got face time with the camera to make a plea...yet kidman couldnt make time for the phones...also...noticed my overachieving example, taylor swift not only sang a number...but was later shown speaking to a donor on the phone bank...yet kidman couldnt make time for the phones! And so you see, that is my summation of kidman...it is just so easy to stand if front of the camera and read a canned speech on a teleprompter...it is another thing simply to work a phone and talk naturally and casually to regular people...as my example taylor swift was shown doing. It is just a small and subtle quality, unnoticed by most...of a quality of...not just "likability"...but what I see as being most important to an industry that is 100% marketing...and 100% sales... and that is a quality of "accessability." Obviously there are celebs who have that quality, who you can imagine "getting down with the people"...and then their is kidman.

maclen said...

...ps...

...ok, now, here's another little, almost innoticable and subtle indication of that quality of "likablity" and "accessablity" that I so clearly see as being so lacking in kidman...

So let's play a little game...a "Which of these things is not like the others. Look at the pics of the Haiti telethon posted over at GettyImages.com...

http://www.gettyimages.com/Search/Search.aspx?EventId=95688243&EditorialProduct=Entertainment

... " CA: Hope For Haiti Now: A Global Benefit For Earthquake Relief - Los Angeles "

...what is the difference between all of the pics of the celebs at the telethon and the two photos of kidman? You see all the other celebs...at the phones...hobnobbing, laughing...talking...chilling out...and then...you notice the pics of kidman, as she was when she came out and made her speech to the camera...no pics of kidman at the phones, socializing with the other celebs right? It is obvious, kidman "chilled" out in her dressing room until it was time for her to walk out for the cameras...and then she tuck tailed and left! I mean, there's...lets take a look...vanessa hugdens and ashley tisdale together on the phones....that's nicholson, clooney walhberg and sharon stone together...sasha cohen, aniston and john cusack all together at the phones. And sure enough, theres ellen degeneres on the phones just like she said she would be on her show! And kidman?...no doubt cooling her heels in her dressing room, waiting for the orb to be through with his bit so he could drive her home! As was very noticable at that Nine Vanity Fair cast cover shoot video...kidman is not very sociable...and that most certainly comes through to the movie going public..which is why she is a failure with them.

a blog is a place of personal social commentary, inviting others to engage in a conversation ... accommodating everyone's subjective viewpoint; whatever that is based on ... however, we did all learn mnanners at school and at home that teaches us to allow everyone their say and their space: sometimes it is being the 'disturber' in the collective unconscious finding voice, etc etc - thru a societal 'pulse point', such as the Urbans, NK in particular ... fighting here is like fighting in the classroom or lounge at home where you abuse someone merely for having their say in a way that doesn't resonate with you ... no one knows anyone here for real, nor how many are 'plants' by the 'people' of the subject ... who will woo at the same time that they are somewhat comdemning ...
