Did anyone else notice that at the NY Omega Watch event, Nicole's head looks REALLY REALLY big. Oops, I mean on the wax head. They may have over-estimated, by a tad.

HAHA! Excellent posting, Urban Myths! I was hoping those pics would get a more high profiled platform! Most of those pics have a very eerie feel...how she blankly stares off into space...like a wooden figure. Now is it just me...or is it some sort of "camera lens" optical illusion? But does kidman look really skinny..well...skinnier than usual? I mean, that picture posted, she has absolutely no hips whatsoever!
Well, anyways, I was simply doing a google sweep tonight and I came upon this article...

Top 20 Concert Tours

Now, as is pretty common knowledge on this blog, I am a "statistical fiend"...and certainly apply it to attempt to quage how the orb is fareing on the country "scene." How does that old saying go..."numbers don't lie." I've noted before how the orbs cd has sold about 570k copies in the past 7 months...and is now selling below 10k a week now... which foretells a total well under the 2 mill his last cd sold. Now here, some "numbers" on his "concert tour". Now, the impression is that the fans consider his live gigs to be fabulous success'...he looks and sounds great...and who am I to argue their perception? I mean, I probably do! But, here are some numbers to ponder...this article, who's data "...is based on data provided to the trade publication Pollstar by concert promoters and venue managers. (provided by the Associated Press)

2. (2) Kenny Chesney; $1,482,184; $68.54.

14. (14) Keith Urban; $659,445; $61.64.

15. (15) Brad Paisley; $609,348; $37.38.

18. (19) Taylor Swift; $557,505; $50.39.

...if you look at the orbs numbers at #14 with $659k...and paisleys at #15 with $609k...no doubt the fansies would shriek in delight at the orb beating out paisley by about $50k. But, that is not the comlete picture...note that last number...and that is the "average ticket price" for their respective tours...the price of tickets for paisley's shows is almost half of the orbs. paisly at $37..,and orbs at $61. So, basically these numbers show that almost twice as many people have gone to see paisley in concert than the orb in 2009. And I did check the total gigs each of them have done this year...( over at tourtracker.com)...and paisley has done 68 shows so far and orb has done 74 shows...so the numbers average about the same. So, to put it another way...if you were to almost double paisley's "average ticket price" per gig as orbs "ATP" of $61 bucks he would be at a total of around $1.2mill total this year...almost up there with chesney, who at $1.4m is #2 and at $68 per ticket average... also had twice as many people see him live than the orb...as chesney has also done 74 shows this year. Now, swift, who trails back at #18 with $557k at least is selling a boatload of cds...and orb is really being out grossed concert wise by chesney head to head...and by paisley...statistically... and attendance wise.

maclen said...

...ps...

...well after I posted the concert totals and did a basic "averaging" of the numbers...and of course realizing that paisley's average ticket price per show were "almost half" of the orbs... but of course, they arent exactly "half".. but close. And "statistical fiend" that I am, I was struck by curiosity of exactly how many, based on the simple numbers shown on the list, people have gone and seen these 4 singers live. And actually, surprisingly to me, I found something interesting, but not totally unexpected based on my past observations on the country stats.
So, using the total grosses for their respective tours to date, and the average price per ticket of each show given, using simple math...

21,796 people have gone to see chesney live...

16,468 people have gone to see paisley live...

11,150 people have gone to see swift live...

and ...

10,636 people have gone to see cletus orb live.

So, factually, twice as may people have gone to see chesney live than the orb...and paisley has had 60% more people see him live than the orb...and swift has actually had 5% more attendees at her tour than the orb. And so now, at least based on these statistics, there is a plausible reason why chesney has won "Entertainer" 4 times out of the past 5 years.

maclen said...

...PPS...

...let me "amend" my last comment...not the substance...but of the "time frame". Realizing that I just recalled reading that the orb had about 8k attendees at one of the canadian gigs...the list is obviously not totals for the "entire year" but rankings for the past week, more than likely...but again, the trends are more than likely typical. As with his lackluster cd sales, the orb no doubt is trailing in concert attendance as well, as the rankings and numbers show for this past week. Surely I will be on the look out for the final totals... and comment on them! So stay tuned!!

I think it was here that someone said, "she sucked the sexy out of him", so. . ..

today, I thumbed through the Country Weekly magazine because they had the results of the you vote for the sexiest country star poll, and guess where cletus ranked? #7 out of 10. I do believe he has ranked a bit higher than that.

Also, can you hear the marketing meeting at Omega? "We need someone who can be perfectly composed, never emotional, but who can use 3 syllable words, sound somewhat intelligent without really saying anything at all, someone who never ages, someone who appeals to a wide variety of people, but most of all, someone who can stand or sit for extended lengths of time without any movement whatsoever." An Omega star was born. Had to be the position requirements, what else fits?
Maclen, if my statistics prof. had been more entertaining perhaps I would have read his stuff as easily as I read yours. Keep it coming!

Well thanks for that hoosier...and I am in fact trying to form a tapestry of different sources...the obvious photo ops...the leaked press releases trying to portray certain publicity...or calling out the orb for what I dubbed the "Canadian Family TOur"...or simply bringing up the orbs cd numbers and etc. I'm not at all surprised the cletus came in 7th out off top 10. on that "sexiest poll"..it certainly does fit into my tapestry! So good find! And really, based on all these dwindly trends of the orb...the dedicated fans arent the least bit worried it may be a longer while till they get another album!

So, obviously kidman's misfortunes continue to rack up...only a couple of weeks ago charlize theron ditches the costarring role in kidman's next dreary and weepy indie...which I no doubt delays, if not jeopardizes it even getting started or even made...and her recent mostly jeered and ridiculed photo op at the omega store looking like a candle stick of the damned yesterday... now today a two-fer! This hideous looking kidman on the cover of Vogue with her Nine costars...

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/entertainment/nicole-glows-in-leibovitz-vogue-cover/story-e6frewyr-1225784962559

...seriously looking like a "Frankensteinesque" concocted creation...suffering a serious case of botox brow and an the obvious wig looking so out of proportion to her face...it is so obviously a photo shopped to near death image...that even the NKusers are disgusted by it!

http://www.nicolekidmanunited.invisionzone.com/index.php?showtopic=12077

... and now the rumors I read last month about Nine's release date may be postponed...moved because another film by the beleaugered Weinco was placed on the same release date...

http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118009740.html?categoryid=13&cs=1

...turn out to be true. Nine will be "limited released" on dec 18 only in NY and LA then full release on Dec 25.

"The Weinstein Co. said "Nine's" date change was not made due to production delays."

Yes and I'm sure, as the article also notes...

"Nine" will now open against James Cameron's "Avatar," serving as counterprogramming for L.A. and New York specialty auds. The Christmas expansion pits it against "Sherlock Holmes," with Robert Downey Jr., and Meryl Streep-Steve Martin-Alec Baldwin romantic comedy "It's Complicated."

...surely weinco had no intention whatsoever of basically "killing it off" or perhaps "putting it out of its misery" with these new release dates! So, the "Kidman Kurse" has actually struck again!

But I caught a sideview photo of her, and her mid-section actually looked chunky! This is one lady who definitely should not wear skintight anything.

"But I caught a sideview photo of her, and her mid-section actually looked chunky! This is one lady who definitely should not wear skintight anything."

I think your talking about her own described "pooch" A440! She may have a bone thin body due to constant working out...and probably from not eating!...but that pooch will not go away.
So, just as I predicted last week, just prior to the orb's last 3 US gigs in NY...that after the overly PR push that the orb was shilling in canada, what I called the phoney "Canadian Family Tour" that had the NKUsers in a mad rush to find photos of kidman in canada or in an actual gig...(of which they only found 2...in about of week of gigs!)...I predicted that the NkUsers would give up the "find kidman at the orbs concerts" and it is true...they havent bothered looking for any sign whatsoever that she was at a cletus gig! And of course I notice cletus himself isnt announcing kidman at his gig for that matter...not like in canada. Like a mentioned before, the reason is because the orbs cd is still slowly climbing the canadian charts...but here in the US his cd has fallen a massive 18 spots from #55 to #73... with now maybe 5 or 6k sales a week! Yes, the cletus' cd is now dead in the US after only 27 weeks on the charts, and with only about 580k cd sold! And so again I will proclaim the orb will be very lucky...and very unlikely to even sell one million cds of Defying Gravity! So I would now also decidedly say that the orbs career is just as dead as kidman's career!

Latest news, Maclen... she was in attendance at the Madison Square Garden show last night. He dedicated and sang Thank You to her... a song he has not performed so far this tour (it played during closing credits). She was observed 'dabbing her eyes and a crew member had to bring her a box of tissues'. During the final encore song Keith made a staged abrupt entrance from the show to hail a cab on the street, all the while being filmed. Final show of the US tour is tonight in Buffalo. Stay tuned...

Also, Defying Gravity was nominated for Album of the Year for the Aussie ARIA Awards... I'm sure Ms. Kidman is shopping for a new see-through dress for the occasion.

Yes, Urban Myths, I do recall reading over a monkeyland a couple of commenters regarding that "abrupt exit"...and how a few of them were not happy over it! So, kidman was reduced to tears...and a crew member had to bring her hankies when cletus sang her a song he had not sung so far all tour? And at the end cletus made a abrupt "staged exit" onto the streets all while being filmed? Would you care to surmise with me, Urban Myths, that that "staged exit" that was filmed... was simply not only for the live audience...for it wouldnt seem very plausible for a live audience...but was in fact a staged bit for a certain to be released dvd? And would you also surmise that the weepy kidman...dabbing at those clearly "crocodile" tears as cletus sings a song dedicated to her that he is singing for the first time...will also make it into that dvd? As you know, weve all seen the notorious "sleepy kidman" at a show...and we've even seen a "non sighted" kidman at a show...but I'm sure all the fansies will get to see this "weepy kidman" over and over being serenaded by cletus...and then abruptly leaving the stadium "to catch a cab"...and it all is apparently...FOR THE DVD!

Yes it is very clear now, Choice, that kidman has reached her PR "effectiveness" limit! The omega photo op was simply a "wax figure" mocking field day for most blogs and commenters...and the vogue cover was mainly a "photoshop" mocking opportunity! And really, pen cruz came out looking at least "decent" at best in that photo...and I was just commenting on how cruz was basically the main "face" on the PR for "Nine"...the story of how cruz and sophia loren had "bonded" during the Nine shoot was the same PR take that kidman "used" to be involved in!

Well, hoosier, I realize my statement about the orbs career now being as dead as kidmam's may be a little harsh, even for the Urban Myths commenters who are still holding out hope for him... as Ive noted before, perhaps chesney's dominating the live tour numbers and grosses may be why he has won the last 4 of 5 "Entertainer" awards at the CMA's. And it would seem cletus again is trailing both chesney and paisley in the touring numbers...and with swift dominating the cd sales charts...the orb may be the longest shot for that award. and now the orbs own numbers on cd sales of his cd... they cannot look good to nashville capitol...I would doubt they would once again release another "greatest hits" cd to supplement his declining sales...as they did for the Whole crazy cd...which I believe was released the following year when Whole crazy sales were down.

HA! Well, hoosier, to put simply...it's not charity, it's a photo op! Plain and simple a rather lame inept team kidman photo op...as I mentioned before, kidman is an Omega shill, they pay her to appear at the boutique...and "donate" an omega watch that was just provided to kidman for the "event!" And apparently this "donated and "personally autographed" watch is simply a gift to the President of the company! As I've read nothing on how this "donated watch" will be either auctioned off for a charitible cause or of any "donated" reason at all but to simply be part of shilling the company and getting kidman a photo op at Getty Images!

I have one wish, if Omega made the donation, then Omega donated it. If Kidman donated it, then Kidman did, but call a spade a spade, this using your status again to draw attention to yourself and your position, (especially this particular one, that of ambassador for WOMEN), is not only self-serving, (we are used to that), but just vile.

Makes you want to follow the money trail, doesn't it? The thing that gets me, this time and every time, with every celebrity and politician is that yes, the masses are ignorant, but individuals are not, and you are being watched by them. They think we are so stupid that we will just blindly blur the edges because, what, they are pretty? Well shit the bed, Fred, I'm pretty too, and conflict of interest is just that. This person knows no limits to the manipulation of people and events to spin it for the maximum "good press". UNBELIEVABLE, yet again.

Good find hoosier...and congrats for finding probably the one article out of the pages of pages of stories that even mentions a charity! Yes, and good luck wondering about that "money trail" there will not be any follow up on the outcome of this barely even noticed "donation." Kidman got her photo op and omega got their commercial. Kiwi cowboy proves rock is no Urban myth

and courtesy of murdoch's Post...some not "totally" glowing and not too impressed impressions of the cletus live!

quotes...

"The show did have lulls. The worst was the sappy midtempo ballad "Only You Could Love Me This Way," which he introduced by dedicating it to his wife, actress Nicole Kidman, who attended the show. Later, Urban dedicated another song, "Thank You," to her." (yes I would imagine that two dedications to kidman would be considered "lulls")

"It was during those off-the-main-stage moments that the concert's biggest flaw was accentuated. Urban was in the back of the house singing, but his voice was coming from the speakers at the other end -- it was kind of weird." Now that he's playing major venues like the Garden, it's time Urban spent some cash on sound worthy of his show. Besides, the fans deserve it." (Like I said, that tired "Who's got the best seats now" bit was his whole tour...as I also mentioned...get some fireworks...lasers...something!) And the fansies would be wise to heed the "hardly country...more rock" crack... cletus isnt make it in country anymore as it is...

It took all of about 5 minutes.

I'm so excited about the great review in the Post! I'm just a ball of warm fuzzies over him walking down to the "good seats"! Who would have EVER thought of it! We are SOOOOOOOOOOOO lucky to have a star like him to worship! With luck, and Nicole by his side, he'll finally be able to make the transition from boring old country music that has been holding him back all these years and finally break free to a new career in POP music, where he truly belongs! So then they can tour the world together, she as the ambassador, he as the much heralded, multi-talented brilliant bubble gum guru, and she, the queen of the Indie film, gracing the cover of UN monthly-monthly I'm sure, just to keep up with her donations of time, personal appearances and one on one time with the women themselves, just waiting until the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded to her. I just hope her mum has room on her mantel for another of her daughter's many awards, it will be so long until she retires. . .. so much to do, so many to save both at home and globally, I hope she has the strength to do so, and Keith has the strength to stand behind her and be the support she needs.

I'll be here all week.

I was at the Madison Square Garden show, and yes, I'm a huge KU fan! I'm NOT an NK fan at all, and never have been even before she met him! I had kind of figured she'd be at that show, but when he dedicated TWO songs to her, I wanted to throw up! He dropped a great song to be able to put in "Thank You" - it was just unbearable to listen to!! I'm so glad I didn't see the tear falling, and the tissue box being handed to her - then I really would have lost my dinner!

Which song did he drop in order to put Thank You in the show??? Jeez, you'd think he'd cater to the fans instead of the wife. If he wanted to pay tribute to her ... ADD a song, don't take one of the fan favorites out so he could thank NK for saving him! It shows bad judgement but it also shows where his mind is at.

...also no doubt on the live dvd will be that "surprise" exit...that I read over at monekyland...he did at all 3 NY gigs! I think another issue brought up at monkeyland...he really needs to mix up that set list...seems its the same at every gig...at every city! Just like he seems to have told the audience at every show, "Who's got the best seats now?"...when he ventured out into the crowd... the orb does not seem to consider the hardcore fans who have been to multiple shows...I'm willing to bet alot of them grew weary of that one!
Also I read he "pranked" Sugarland...his band came out "dressed as wrestlers" in the middle of their song "walkin on sunshine!"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vplx6ag-Cgs

...boy, very WEAK orb... wrestlers during walkin on sunshine? It was far more imaginative...and ORIGINAL when swift did it to you...as the band KISS...during your song "Kiss a girl!"

"Imachick said - Which song did he drop in order to put Thank You in the show???"

In the beginning of the tour, the song "If Ever I Could Love" was a part of his set. Part way through the tour, he dropped it to add "Only You Can Love Me This Way", which is now always dedicated to his wife. YUCK!!! So many people begged for "If Ever ..." to be added back in, so he did listen to the fans, and added it back, BUT at the Garden, he dropped it again to play "Thank You". I was extremely disappointed - as were MANY others.

As for his exit, I liked it! It was different, and as some of you were saying earlier, he needs to switch it up a bit. I think most of the people that were upset about this exit, were the ones that somehow always manage to be standing at the stage at EVERY show, and they didn't get to touch his hand before he left! Also, I was hoping he was running away from the wife, too!!!

It was a GREAT show, though!

Re: New York - Keith's grand exit - What a surprise!

"Guys something you should know Keith isn't going anywhere, he's not rushing to be with his family or some appointment. It's all for show. I was at both shows (Albany and NYC) and both nights the vehicles only took him around the block where he got out and went back in the venue. I saw it with own eyes in Albany as I was parked in the garage right behind the venue where Keith 's bus was." "So you can stop coming up with reasons for why he had to leave abruptly."
"On a personal note, I've probably been to over 1000 concerts in my life, I've seen Keith 72 times. I've never seen another performer do this. I think it's rude."

Re: New York - Keith's grand exit - What a surprise!

"Mix up the setlist,,,,not the banter and entrances and exits.
THE SETLIST....not the guitars for each tune. Mix up the tunes.
Maybe these guys dont rehearse enough. I'm sure KU doesnt ride the bus anymore from venue to venue and I imagine that distance prevents these guys from rehearsing a bunch of different material. Assembly line shows are good once a year,,,,but i would never spend the money to see a show in Nashville and then see bascially the same show the following nite in Atlanta or see him/them leave the building differently. At least not at $80 for a decent seat. I like to follow bands when they play close to home,,,but until these guys mix the setlist up ALOT more, I'm resigned to catching the show when in town."

"Frankly I found it odd that a super fan such as yourself would choose to pick one thing about the concert that you didn't like and not say a thing that was positive. Perhaps after 72 shows the bloom is off the rose? (Ha! ya think!!) I hope not."

"Thank you for saying what I've been thinking since I started reading this thread. Thank you for typing out all of those thoughts so I didn't have to and thank you for being supportive of another fan. I happen to share Markie's disappointment. This was the first chance I've had to be in seats good enough to enjoy the "end-of-concert" ritual...so I was disappointed in his exit. I didn't even realize what was happening"

"I was at the Buffalo show last night when he did the same exit. So it was definitely staged. I definitely prefer the old exit where he gives a more personal show of thanks at the end of the show. Yes, he did thank everyone for coming before Better Life, which is nice. I understand him wanting to change it up & if he was doing it to be funny, but I did feel a little disappointed. Don't get me wrong, the show was absolutely amazing, but I prefer the old exit. I think everyone was left feeling a little confused & that the show just kind of abruptly ended."

...so, apparently "skeptics" aren't the only ones "whining"...and cletus left some of his "fans" "feeling a little confused? I'd say he left a forth of his former fanbase feeling a little confused!

Imahick said...

I know it's an odd concept, but most artists / entertainers cater to their fans at their shows and not their wives.

So...instead of including songs that the fans enjoy, he removed one of them and replaced it with an ode to his wife.

She appreciated it so much, she shed a tear and left. Very touching....I guess.

getaholdofurself said...

oh please! he's gotten great reviews this tour.

we don't all have such an intense hatred for nk so i'm guessing there are those who actually enjoyed hearing "thank you" live.

A440 said...

he really needs to mix up that set list...seems its the same at every gig...at every city! Just like he seems to have told the audience at every show, "Who's got the best seats now?"...when he ventured out into the crowd... the orb does not seem to consider the hardcore fans who have been to multiple shows...I'm willing to bet alot of them grew weary of that one!

Now, Keith has me confused. Isn't this why "when I've got a day off, I'll fly home and fly back out again"? To renew his "passion" and his "love" and his "enthusiasm" and his "desire" for playing live? So it "doesn't get stale"? And "won't be predictable"?

Because "nobody wants to pay money to see a show where everyone's just beat up and going through the motions."

You'd a think going home would be so renewing. Well, I guess home ain't all it's cracked up to be.

maclen said...

It's been clear to many of the cletus's former fans, A440, that he pretty much "schedules" his entire personal and professional life on the whims of the "wife". Now, as for his personal life, if he's content with that for the sake of the family...that is his business...but obviously, the music has definately taken a serious hit over it, quality and commercial wise...and I'm willing to bet the touring has also taken a hit. Certainly the weekly numbers of his gigs I quoted earlier indicate that he is lagging behind the other counrty stars on tour in attendance...his average ticket prices are as high as chesney's, yet he's grossing half as much. that's a very telling indication! And his ticket prices are almost twice as much as paisley's, yet he is only grossing $50k more than paisley...again, that tells you he is trailing. And dont get me started on his cd sales! It'll be a real while, or even a question if Capitol Nashville will option the cletus for another album anytime soon! I would bet the cletus continues to tour into the next year...just to pay back capnash the money they lost on his last CD!

So, on the eve of "THE BENEFIT"...who's proceeds will no doubt help out that needy and downtrodden institution... the Country Hall of Fame!!...(boy I bet the proceeds help out with the Hall's upper execs getting an extra hefty "X-mas bonus" this year, boy!) And of course, the most immediate question that comes to mind..."Do you think kidman will be at this cletus gig?" Another burning issue is... how many photo's does kidman get out of this gig? I mean, I'm sure that the orb arranged for the "Arrivals" red carpet...I'm willing to wager kidman got her "in audience" photo ops all blocked out...she no doubt will be generously "photographically" represented!
Now onto the "Benefit"...

Updated: All For The Hall With Urban And Friends

"Produced by AEG Live, We’re All for the Hall will open with a one-hour set by Urban and his band. Then, Gill will join Urban and an all-star band of maestros to bring out special guests for a one-of-a-kind, once-in-a-lifetime evening of music, friendship and camaraderie."

Boy, that's very big of the orb and his band to take up ONLY AN HOUR! A "Benefit" by a "one-of-a-kind, once-in-a-lifetime evening of music, friendship and camaraderie?"...sounds more like a continuation of cletus' "Escape Together" tour!) And then vince gill,"Museum Board President, creator and leader of the institution’s All for the Hall fundraising initiative since 2005 gets to "join" orb "to bring out special guests." Hey, at least gill gets to appear, eh?!...Yes, the "Urban and friends Benefit" will "attempt" to "benefit" the surely needy and downtrodden...the orb's career!

Well I for one, as a KU fan am tired of all the PR BS that is taking place whether it's for his personal gain or NK's personal gain...the bottom line is it sucks and it's the fans (his not hers) that pay the price of this selfish behavior. Yes, I enjoy seeing him live and YES most of the shows are the same stuff. The last 2 cd's (which came out AFTER NK came into the picture) just aren't even the same caliber of music as Golden Road and Be Here. What I want as a fan is whatever it took for his mojo to come up with those two cd's to return...if it means breaking free of that human pez dispenser(NK), then that is what needs to happen. She has obviously not got what it takes to inspire the quality of music that he was capable of before she came along...Sorry, I'm off my soapbox now but it is getting old. Everything that concerns him has declined (hell, even his sexiness level and that is one sad event!) Even as a fan, I cannot dispute what is being said by the non-fans anymore because for the most part, it's all true!

maclen said...

This whole event just smacks of such a high order of "cynicism"...and of obvious PR opportunism. This "All for the Hall initiative" has apparently been gills for the past 4 years...but now, at a very "opportune" time...a seeming "alignment of the planets"...it now just happens to fall in between the US leg and the OZ leg of his concert tour...which he was able to announce at one of his live gigs...and coincidently also happens to fall in the heat of the CMA nominations voting...and now, in a magical twist of "serendipidy"...the orb and his currently "touring" band will get to open the "benefit" for the FIRST HOUR!...but wait...just like an extra little frosting for the orb's sweet, sweet cake...he also will no doubt draw a little more traffic to his "fansie site" where the event will be streamed live! I once described this "benefit" as an impeccable "three-fer" PR cash cow for the orb...on the eve of the "benefit" it's looking more and more like an "infinate-fer" for the orb!

maclen said...

...ps...

HA! Check out the "Live Event Page" which will stream the "benefit" over at monkeyland...

http://www.keithurban.net/

...just under the stream screen...there's a link you can click to "Make A Donation" Help support the Hall of Fame!...then a link for "Offical Tee Shirt" Wear your support for the Hall! (the orb's name is HUGE at the top on the TEE, twice as big as all the other lettering..."KEITH URBBAN" and very special friends... you suppose the tees were manufactured by the "Hank evie" clothes line!)...and then...theres the link...."Defying Gravity" Get a copy of Keith's latest CD!...an infinate-fer!

maclen said...

...pps..

...Good Golly Miss Molly! Am I gonna run out of material on this subject!

So, It seems, the "All for the Hall" Music Benefit for the Country Hall of Fame....has seemingly and suddenly transformed into the "KEITH URBAN AND VERY SPECIAL FRIENDS"music event! Orb is selling the t-shirts at his fansie site with that title, and the hall of fame site is promoting the "benefit" with that title. For surely, that title will look good for next years CMA's ...and the Grammys...and the other Country awards shows, huh?

It was a great show. The timing during CMA voting was a bit convenient, but I can overlook that because Keith seemed to be having so much fun performing last night. And he threw in some new numbers like Coat of Many Colors, Start A Band with Brad, and closed with Lay Down Sally. The evening had a joyful, lighthearted quality to it.

Imahick said...

I agree it was a good show. Truly a unique opportunity to see all those talented people in one night. He did a good job ... he looked like he was enjoying every minute of it, too.

I don't have a problem with him selling himself while doing a benefit. They all have an image to sell, so why not him? He's putting alot of effort into his career ... for a change. I'd rather see him promote himself through his music and his connections in Nashville than in PEOPLE magazine with NK hanging onto him in "fear."

This is what he's all about in my opinion. This is what I've been complaining is missing in the last 3 yr, so I am going to applaud him for working hard to put on a great show.

Admirable gill isnt so "attention starved" or willing to exploit the cause he has obviously spent years dedicated to in such a crass and disgusting manner! (At least gill isnt flogging his t-shirts or cds on the back of this "benefit" like the cletus is over at monkeyland!) Yessiree...cletus... "mr johnny come lately...for the quick instant PR push, just in time for the CMA's voting"...got the majority of the press...in announcing HIS "KEITH URBAN" and friends show...steaming the show at HIS fansie site...opening the first hour with HIS band... and again...flogging HIS crap and cd on his "KEITH URBAN" and friends live stream page...yeah, you can "donate"...or buy his tshirts and cd all at the same page...no fuss or muss! Now, wouldnt it be extra hilarious... after selling his "integrity's soul" with this blantant "vanity showcase" in the quise of charity...if he didnt even win "Entertainer" at the CMA's?! Well, I for one AM hoping that karma is a bitch!!

Never underestimate the power of the little article. It has it desired effect, people found it, and she is, once again, the benevolent one.

Again, I ask, who paid for the product to donate? I'm just a pesky little fly on the wall, watching, watching. I know this particular donation is not important, but put them all together.?

Hoosier, celebs are "whores for swag"...they are on the awards and public "circuits" not only for the exposure of course, but for the perks they recieve. And again, kidman is an omega shill...it was in the "contract" to receive..."one of these, and I'll take one of those..." I have absolutely no pretension that it was a gift to her. Now, even though it became fashionable for celebs to start and "donate" the swag they were constantly receiveing once it started getting reported on what exactly they were receiving for simply "attending" say, the Oscars...all tens upon tens of thousand of bucks worth! It still leaves me with the prerogative to bash the "glutinous swines!"

Well, hoosier, on this issue as I once explained...in the care of even her inept team, kidman certainly has no problem manufacturing these photo ops...and as I stated constantly, the crass exploitation of the kids of the Sydney Childrens Hospital didnt exactly help her flop golden compass a few years ago. Now with her career finished she is reduced to wallowing in her own produced pittance of indies. I'm still waiting to hear of her co-star replacement for danish girl...as I once recalled, woody replaced kidman in about 2 weeks...will a replacement be found for this one? Also recall newly announced director Alfredson claimed they were set to start about 3 weeks ago, yet obviously not till they replace theron! So this omega plug will help her exactly in what manner?

hoosierlady said...

Won't help her at all.

maclen said...

Well, as to kidman, I need to retract my comments on kidman and this "Benefit"...kidman got no love whatsoever! This was a total "cletus show"...kidman will just have to exploit her own charity cases for much needed publicity! I guess her total colapse and decline is underplaying her lack of influence? And I find it not surprising at all that swift is raining on cletus' moment in the "news cycle" sun with her six noms at the AMA's! Also, I did notice that swift also got singled out by GG at the "KEITH URBAN" with friends gig in the press...I guess the forsaken kidman didnt call in her PR sources at GG on the orb's behalf! If she wasnt able to get her photo ops onto her internet PR site off this gig...neither was the orb!! HA!

maclen said...

...anyone who wonders why kidman is not very popular with moviegoers...or not very popular with co-stars...(ie: Slumdogs Rubina Ali, on kidman at the ginger ale ad shoot, for instance)...watch this piece from the insider, courtesy of Lainey gossip...

http://www.laineygossip.com/Kate_Hudson_Penelope_Cruz_Marion_Cotillard_Nicole_Kidman_Vogue_photo_shoot_video.aspx?CatID=0&CelID=0

3 girls and a granny

...so the video starts... there's hudson and cruz together...speaking to the camera about how great it all was...how they all "love" each other...then you have cotillard on the beach speaking to the camera...and then back to hudson and cruz...there is a quick shot of kidman getting her hair done...then, at the 1:50s mark, kidman speaks to the camera...for about 10 or 15 secs...then it back to hudson, cruz and cotillard standing on shore...together...laughing, hugging...having fun...minus kidman...then at the actual shoot, all 4 are walking on the shore...then at the end of the shoot..kidman makes for the exit...or more precisely, her trailer... notice at the end when the shoot ends, photographer Leibovitz walks past kidman, and hugs cotillard...then theres a shot of Leibovitz hugging cruz...to quote lainey in the article...

"You will also note from the clip that the girls are close. Correction: three of the girls are close. Kate Hudson, Penelope Cruz, and Marion Cotillard – they are adorable together. A lot of hugs, giggles, squeezes of encouragement, teasing each other…Kate is particularly yappy. In a lighthearted, endearing easy way, Kate Hudson is a girl’s girl. And I LOVE her comment about Sophia Loren. Please. Can you imagine?

Then there’s Granny Freeze Nicole Kidman. Apart from when they’re all actually posing, clearly they weren’t able to find much footage of her cavorting with the others.

...well, the cover is an absolute "fail"...rightly derided as a photoshop mess...if you look at the cover, each of the faces have different shadows from the light! Now the film itself has been moved to be put out of it's misery in a very crowded xmas release...its former release date in Nov no doubt taken by over by weinco's actual awards flick!
...and this is what kletus has to look forward to in his industry...no doubt.. that is his trajectory!

frankie said...

It must be killing NK to be around Penelope, because she dated Tom after the divorce. I noticed in this clip that NK's arm was around Penelope more than once, and in a picture, her arm was also on Penelope's leg! I wonder what was going through her head!!

A440 said...

Dominance.

Someone's armed draped onto or over your leg is a show of dominance.

Since the arm is over the leg, but Nic's face is turned away to speak to someone else, she's also being dismissive.

She's well versed in treating people badly.

Chris Bertolini said...

The dominance issue rings so true (she did learn from the best, TC) but my question is this...why would anyone (much less her peers) put up with this behavior by NK? They wouldn't want to be "high-hatted" or "one-upped" by the likes of that has been. So why isn't she called out on her unacceptable behavior?

hoosierlady said...

No one has ever called her on bad behavior. I don't think people have been putting it all together until now.

The Great Karnak: "Ewwww, that is incorect anti-botox abuser breath!"(Technically, you are correct, but I just wanted to quote carson's Karmak!)

As I mentioned earlier, Rubina Ali, just recently called out kidman on her onset "disapointing" anti socialism! But as I mentioned at the time, she's young and shes been in only one film, and she hasnt had that "play along to get along" drilled into her...so she was just being honest about it. It's like the "code of cops"...you dont rat out corrupt cops.."lest ye be ratted out!" But what it does is subsidizes the careers of mediocre talents with the personalities of a drippy wet rug.(see megan fox!)

maclen said...

So, as the cheers fade...and the light dims on the orbs "Benefit for "KEITH URBAN"...with friends...it's a countdown to the CMA's next month...(dont forget to vote!)...and then the OZ leg of his tour in Dec. A perusal of the scene sees his cd falling 3 spots...from #73 to #76 while taylor swifts latest cd, which of course is now beginning to fall on the charts, actually jumps 2 spots from #19 to # 17...and her previous cd also falling, from #67 to #71.. is STILL higher than the orb's at #76! As I noted previous, swift stole some of orb's "Benefit for "KEITH URBAN...with friends news buzz by leading all with 6 noms at the AMA's. I also recalled the orbs lame "prank" on sugarland... basically just ripped off of taylor's prank ...but with less imagination...or even effort...I just noticed that the Youtube video of swift's prank posted 2 months ago has now reached 873k views and is in fact posted on cletus' Youtube channel! And in fact the swift prank video leads all videos in views over at orbs youtube channel...even his "Once in a lifetime" music video with 526k views in 2 years of release! (hey, 526k views of his music video, and about 570k cds sold of is latest cd! Is there a correlation?!) Now today comes news that swift will host SNL in early Nov...and will also be the show's musical performer. So the question for me, can swift upstage the orb for "entertainer" at the CMA's? Of course realizing the apparent sexism of the CMA's, as swift is the first solo female nominated for "Entertainer" in 8 years...it isnt exactly a sure thing...a surer result would be chesney or paisly taking it...but as I so tend to "crunch the numbers"...it would tend to follow the expected "statistical trajectorial amalgamation."...or it may not!

I think you can see how people feel about Kidman by the number that work with her more than once. There isn't too many are there for someone who has been in the business for this long.

Last night on the Andy Cohen show on Bravo Matthew Broderick was on and (they have cocktails on that show and he had been drinking) they showed him pictures of the people he has worked with in the past and they asked him to give a few words to describe them. On Kidman, after a very very very long pause he said, "gorgeous, has a lot of money and smells like a rose with blueberrys inside" he was finding it hard to even say that ha!!!

Maclen I have to agree with you about the "code" ethic you mentioned above, but don't you think that after she behaved this way to someone of her "equal" or better...that even the "code" wouldn't apply anymore at the risk of making that other person look like an idiot in order for NK to look good? I just don't think that if it were at the risk of their own reputation that they would stand by (code or not) and not call NK out on her behavior, attitude and lies.

Yeah, as hoosier pointed out, it's coming out now more than in the past. In fact as I read your comment dontlikethepez, I recalled Sean Penn called kidman out this past Feb for what he described as her "lack of commitment...

http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2009/02/06/sean-penn-the-story-behind-the-story/

"In his Rolling Stone interview, Penn complains about the level of commitment showed by some of his fellow actors. “People are spending too much time modeling for some fucking clothing company instead of acting, and I resent that,” Penn told Binelli. “It’s like ‘I’m sorry— are you going to do the Chanel ad today? I thought you were in the middle of shooting a fucking movie.’” While Penn didn’t name names, Binelli thinks this was a veiled dig at actress Nicole Kidman. “They did that movie The Interpreter together, and right around that same time she became the face of Chanel,” Binelli says.

So yeah, I really dont believe kidman's clearly failed career will have as rosy a path as in the past. For me a telltale would be this next attempted indie...danish girl and whether they can find an actress to replace theron. I mean as aaron eckhart claims in this article about rabbit hole...

http://www.filmofilia.com/2009/08/31/nicole-kidman-and-aaron-eckhart-in-rabbit-hole-first-images/

“This is a passion project for Nicole,” Eckhart said, “The reason why I’m in the movie is Nicole. If she wants to work with somebody, then that’s what happens.”

...well, we'll see how that pans out for her in the future!

So, self-professed “always one step ahead but headed the wrong direction” Maclen is now proclaiming to be a “statistical fiend” who can’t even tell the difference between average and median. Ha ha ha ha !!!

I would suggest before you embarrass yourself even further doing those nonsensical “ANALysis” of Paisley’s and Urban’s concert attendance numbers to check out Paisley’s upcoming Madison Square Garden concert on Oct. 21. That’s just a few days from now. As of today, if you go to Ticketmaster, there are still plenty of seats in the lower risers, some as close as the 4th row from the floor in section 51 in the middle of the arena! You can even find as many as 3 seats together in the front row of section 107 fairly close to the stage. By comparison, when Keith had his concert at the MSG last week, the only tickets you could find on Ticketmaster four days before the show were in the 300-level.

Maclen’s use of average concert ticket sales and average ticket prices to derive concert attendance is too laughable. He obviously failed Statistics 101. Again, to do an “apples to apples” comparison, Keith’s Madison Square Garden gig charged $84.50 for the floor seats and lower section seats. By comparison, Brad’s MSG tickets are $59.50 for the same sections. Interesting, isn’t it, that even with the lower ticket prices, Brad cannot sell out those sections.

A sure sign that Brad is having problems filling the arenas where he plays: if you have purchased any concert tickets from Ticketmaster and are on their mailing list, you more than likely would have gotten an email this week about the special 4-pack tickets to the Brad concert at $24.75 each. If you check Ticketmaster, there are PLENTY of seats available at this price. I found 8 seats together in row H and another 8 tickets two rows up in the same section in the 300-level at this bargain price. Again, it’s very interesting that Brad can’t even sell out the arena at those reduced prices! By comparison, if you check out some of the YouTube video clips from the KU concert at MSG, you would have noticed that even the 300-level was totally packed! And those ticket prices were about the same as Brad’s top ticket price of $59.50. This just goes to show Keith has the star power to draw a much larger audience even at the higher ticket prices.

I would not be surprised to get another email from Ticketmaster to Visa cardholders that tickets to Brad’s MSG concert can now be purchased for $15-$20 apiece, as what happened when Brad played in one of the West Coast cities fairly recently.
