Just a note from a favorite idol...

Happy Xmas
(War is Over)
If you want it!

So this is Xmas
And what have you done
Another year over
And a new one just begun
And so this is Xmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young

A very Merry Xmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear

Well, it seems apt that the xmas day full release of Nine's box office numbers be posted in a Urban Myths xmas thread. So, in its first day of full release, Nine grossed $2 mil in 1412 theaters...

http://www.deadline.com/hollywood/first-look-alvin-2-beats-avatar/

...for a weekend estimate of about $7MIL. Meanwhile, over at Rotten Tomatoes, out of a current total of 125 reviews...only 50 are "fresh" while a significant 75 are "rotten" for a now dismal 40% rotten! It seems to be straying from my original guess of about 50%...give or take. Well, I seem to have been off by 10% now...but then, I also did miss the orbs current Cd sale...where I surmissed he would probably sell at least a million, and he of course under performed from my number and has sold even less! So Nine is now "underperforming" my initial very low bar for it! So of course, it's not too surprising that the fansie NKUsers are simply ignoring reviews and not posting any! So, now just a few interesting observances...I was tickled to learn from a few reviews, that in the film, kidman plays a "movie star" who is pressuring her director to get the script to her next film done already. And the title of the film? "ITALIA"...or in english, "ITALY"...you see, as in "AUSTRALIA!" So is that a "jab" at kidman from director Marshall on the embarrassment that was "Australia" for kidman? Well, either way, I found it hilarious of course! I also recall this being mentioned by Lisa in the previous thread, about how the buzz currently on the news cycle is kidman wants another kid...which leads me to this story...

Nicole Kidman to Cut Back Movie Projects

"Rumor has it, Nicole Kidman is slowing down her career in the movie biz to focus on expanding her family with husband Keith Urban. On the speculation of the matter, Hollyscoop cited an insider as reporting, "Nicole is looking to work less if she can because her priorities are with her family life now."

Sounds like a planted story to hedge her bets if she cant get Danish Girl into production. I wouldnt be surprised if she announces another "retirement" from movies again...only a year after having "hinted" about it, then denying it...and then confirming that she actually came out of "retirement" just for Nine during PR for the film back in NOV. Well, with all the shilling, the interviews...the hype...the film is, once again for kidman, another flop, on her long long list!

NICOLE KIDMAN and Keith Urban have celebrated Christmas by taking daughter Sunday Rose to Mass in Sydney.

Kidman, Urban and their daughter were dropped off at St Francis Xavier Church, Lavender Bay, just before the 5.30pm children's Mass on Christmas Eve.

They took their places in their crowded church before Urban took 18-month-old Sunday Rose to the front of the church, where she sat among dozens of other children who traditionally sit around the altar, dressed as shepherds and angels.

''He was obviously so very happy,'' one parishioner said. ''It was very cute - he was helping her to gesture to Nicole [who was among the congregation] as you do. There was no paraphernalia, no bodyguards. It was really refreshing to see them there.''

Father Paul Coleman - who married the couple at the Cardinal Cerretti Chapel in Manly in 2006 - officiated at the Mass.

Kidman is continuing her tradition of spending Christmas in Australia. The extended Kidman and Urban families will see in the new year at the couple's mansion at Sutton Forest in the Southern Highlands.

Sunday Rose was recently baptised in Italy while on holiday.

Well...I may as well continue the "box office death watch" for Nine...so...travel with me to another "E-o' L-N-M!"
Earliest numbers for saturday's take for Nine are in...

http://www.deadline.com/hollywood/first-look-alvin-2-beats-avatar/

8. Nine (The Weinstein Co) Week 2 - Cume $7.7M
Fri $2.05M [1,412], Sat$1.9M, Wkd $5.4M

...now if you'll notice, saturdays second day gross is $1.9mil...which is DOWN from the previous fridays $2.05mil...which is, once again, almost the single anomaly of the top ten list. If you look at the entire top ten list, Nine is almost the only film that dropped in gross on the second day, sherlock holmes being the other. Which is no doubt due to WOM...word of mouth! So if these early numbers hold up, Nine will have underperformed from the earliest estimates of between about $7mil-$8mil for the weekend...to perhaps as low as $5mil for the weekend! Yeah, and who could have predicted that huh? Oh yeah...US!

Well, with the already confirmed critical flop...and now offical Box office financial flop...seems kidman has got a serious case of the "blahs"...

Nicole Kidman: Holiday Family Fun

..HA! Fun? It looks to me like kidman is distraught...or totally bummed over another film failure! Even for this pre-arranged GG photo op, she cant yuck it up for the cameras...despite being with her supposed main "concern of her life"...her family. She seems miles away...not at all concerned with what her mother is apparently explaining to her...and I even doubt she is aware her kid has walked up behind her! Watch that kid orb... do your job!

First Happy Holidays everyone!

Second in that series of shots from the multimillion dollar penthouse
you see the truth about this marriage. Kidman is frowning at the view, Keith is in the background with his arms folded and a frown and little Sunday is left to fend for herself close by.

Yes, these photo ops are very telling, tara. And these from johnny come lately JJ are even more telling!

http://justjared.buzznet.com/2009/12/29/nicole-kidman-holidays-down-under/

...notice when kidman finally notices little sunri, the look she gives her...the knives in her eyes...if looks could kill! And as kidman stands with her parents...notice how the orb simply seems to loiter behind them. And here, the hilarious pic...obviously the valet orb is the only one who seems to be aware that they are "on"...and kidman who is obviously oblivious to her own photo op, seems in the dumps...she seems irritable...UNTIL... the photo where the orb is kneeling and apparently pointing out to kidman and her mom that they are being photographed by the JJ and GG paps which he is now pointing to...and THEN...and only then...is there a hint of a smile on kidman's face!

Golden Globe Awards Selects Steven Spielberg, Nicole Kidman and Sam Worthington as Presenters

...kidman will be there because her film Nine was nominated for 5 GG's...yeah, BEFORE the reviews and the films box office confirmed it a total flop...a regular dud of a film! Yes, the Golden Globes...the original "MTV awards show" that will no doubt spread out the love to pretty much everyone who shows up! Will Nine go home with a few awards? Does a duck quack? Did Nine stink? Sure, but will that matter?! Dont be surprised if kidman already has her Oscar show spot already set. She seems to show up to the big party despite failing to obtain an invite...ie: NOMINATION...and now more than ever, she is desperate like at no other time for some face time at the awards shows...will it help her and her dead career? Can a turkey fly?

In this "E o' LAte Night MUsings"...

So with her latest film now currently at 37% rotten over at RT...(uncool, it's making my about 50-50 guess look so far off! Boo Hoo!!)...and the critical and financial flop of Nine...will weinco pull it from most theaters or not? Early reports claimed yes...now weinco says no...what's the different, really. The film will be out of site and out of mind after next week anyways. The pundits of course, cant declare it dead though, with 10 oscars noms spots, many believe it may still sqweak in at #10. Now of course my bet is...no...as time goes on and its poor performance and it's review continues to reek...I think they will abandon it out of sheer embarrassment of nomming it! And now with kidman hiding out all the way in OZ...with her lame and pathetic pre arranged photo ops...she is desperate to keep herself in the news...somehow...so...cue the GG awards announcment. Clearly the fansies, naturally believe the "Noms" in itself are the "victory"...recall the orb and the grammys..."Wow, 5 grammy noms?"...and hilariously, orb declares it "magic!" Oh yes, magic...how else to explain it! So, any of the fansies recall how may noms the orb recieved at the CMAs? Yeah, it was 4...oohhhh, impressive, right. And how many actual "awards" did he, you know, win? Yes, one...or as I like to say, "half" an award...again with paisley. And were't the monkeylanders fit to be tied...indignant...all prepared to commit hari cari when taylor swift won "entertainer" instead of their beloved orb! Yes, the fansies are content, time after time, with..."It's just an honor to be nominated!" NO...it's a sign of success when you actually win! So I expect kidman to be at the Oscars...and she too will settle to present whatever award they can spare... "Choreograpy for a foreign animated or claymation feature made with toothpicks or popsickle sticks"...just as long as she is at the "televised" big show! But I wager it will be with a rather pitiful nommed list for her film...like... nomination of the best dressed in a bustier...or most flamboyant in panties or a push up bra! And not for...best picture...or actor or actress...etc...and kidman herself is not even on that list!

Well Maclen, lets see if the fans can pull out a win for Keith at the People's choice awards (Jan 6th). And I believe theres at least two more premieres for Nine. One in Rome and the one in OZ on Jan 21. The Golden Globes and the Grammy awards bring it up to five events in the month of January if they attend them all. So they have something to keep them in the news for at least another month. After that????

Like I replied on another blog....

About NINE a Christmas release is what I don't get(not with the subject matter of the movie). How could they even consider releasing this anywhere near the time Avatar or Sherlock ... came out. Musicals are not as popular as they once were. I'm sure each actress and Daniel did their best (They all are talented on their own & no one person caused it's downfall) but this just isn't a movie I would spend my hard earned money on---sorry. The buildup & the hype just didn't seem to match the actual product that has surfaced. Sad for those involved because I'm sure they put their hearts & souls into this. Oh well life does go on.

Yes, mikki, no doubt kidman will fill out her promotional schedule with as many appearences as possible. I'm sure it'll make it up to kidman, as I am rather sure she will not be too busy otherwise...
