Well, not being able to watch the video...(due to my very antiquated operating system)...I have no doubt of course, that their performance will be very "caucasian" and "confederate" enough for mayer to feel "comfortable" with it! Well, again, VERY unfortunate for cletus that this Crossroads performance was taped last January...and mayer's "Napalm/N-word/hood pass/racist c**k" comments vomited out of his mouth in February. Everyone else...including the "once cozy" with mayer swifty...who was even in attendence at the Crossroads taping...have totally distanced themselves from mayer! But orb is now "professionally" tied to mayer...and it wont be a very good "image" to have the self outed "white supremacist member" mayer stomping it up with "good ol' boy" orb! Again, mayer will NOT get any props...in "the hood"...playing with the pale, highlighted haired blond blue eyed orb! This Crossroads show will no doubt be looked on as an oddity and sideshow most people will simply be glad when it comes and very quickly leaves!

In this "Edition of Late NIght MUsings"

...sorta had a feeling this "orb/mayer" collaberation thread was going to be, how shall I put it..."a road less traveled? Sure the monkeylanders are blindly going to cheer the upcoming appearence at the CMT's and the upcoming Crossroads broadcast... unfortunately, over here at Urban Myths... I am not going to let it pass what a buffoon mayer turned out to be! And I can surely see why, even the orb sympathetic commenters here will just as soon pass on this one...with a no comment...for they CANNOT simply "see no evil...hear no evil...and clearly...they cannot speak no evil" about the jackass orb has unfortunatly chained himself to! And yes, I find it glaringly typical...orb has certainly stepped on many a landmine the past few years that have simply reduced his status with his own former fanbase...and now is just glaring with the "that is such a turn off" to any potential future fanbase! In a few days...when I catch the clip of that Crossroads duet...I will have much more to add to the absurdity of it all! And as I note now that the previous "Kidman" thread reached over 100 comments....118 comments to be exact...which has not occurred in I dont recall without checking but I'd say a few months at least since it's been that high...I then have no pause whatsoever to predict that this "orb/mayer embarrassement" thread may be the LOWEST comment count in at least a few months! And I will surely proclaim that it IS the direction the orb's career is headed...and that is..."it is just a turn off!"

Do you think this clip is required viewing?

I promised myself after watching "Kiss a Girl" I never had to do that again, so unless there is relevant discussion fodder in this clip, I would really appreciate a pass on this one.

Mayer=yuck

the clip is painful to watch not only for the jerk but also because that song is so insipid- go listen to another song called Sweet Thing by Dottie West- much more entertaining. Third this is painful to watch because Keith looks terrible here- yes I am commenting on his appearance- I was talking about this with a friend and she said she would rather see orange Keith than corpse Keith and I have to agree.

GREAT guitar work by all of them!

I am not familiar with John Mayer, his music or his performances, but this is what I summarize from his facial expressions while singing the song. He too thinks this song is to immature for a guy his age to be singing. During John's little guitar solo, he tries to bring some grit to the song - give it an adult contempo feeling to it. I don't think John gets the whole "sweet thing" feeling because he is so beyond that stage in life - as should be Keith. The fansies go on about what a great guitar player he is, but it shows that John Mayer too can hold his own when it comes to strumming a guitar!

"GREAT guitar work by all of them!"

Yes...but what of about the "sound mixing"..is it up to snuff, man!? HA! HA! Yes, as I mentioned...this will be "the road LESS traveled" by the orb fansies! And I find it quite revealing that this is precisely the reaction I would expect from orb fans...a total disregard for the heinous remarks and attitude of orb's chosen collaborator! And decidedly the "silence" by any avowed orb fansie in my opinion is simply a concious "endorsment" of said heinous comments...and a total "turn off" of any respect to whoever would comment here and be willing to overlook it...simply for the sake of the fanhood of a "jingle strummer!" And I find it soooo high-larious the orb is such an embarrassement on this subject...much as kidman has become such a huge embarrassement to the the shutdown NKUseless!

Yeah, truly hoosier, I can barely stand to listen or watch orb's videos only a few seconds before I have to turn it off! But I can take it from the "silence" of this thread so far from the fansies...this video will probably NOT be posted at any point on orbs YouTube channel!

Yes, blue sky...this hookup with mayer is the gift that keeps on giving...

John Mayer and Keith Urban George Aug 28 7 pm. $41-$131 (The Gorge, TM)

...so, beyond the appearence together on the CMT awards...and then the showing of the Crossroads gig on CMT...they will also perform together again in august! I'm betting it'll be quite a long while til orb gets that "mayer napalm" stank out his frosted highlights! Now, I don't see any upside in all this for the orb. Mayer hopes to "rehabilitate" is image off of the orb...good luck with that one!

I don't know what "hood" you are hannging in Maclen, nor do I know your "street cred" but I happen to know a lot of Africian Americans. In my lifetime I've lived in two cities where the majority of the citizen's were A.A. I also work in an industry where a lot of the creative work these days is coming from A.A.'s. I know many who were John Mayer fans before what he said and sure he lost some but he didn't loose them all. You want to know why? Because even though we here in American have become so PC it's out of control, the fact of the matter is, what the guy said was, that he wasn't attracted to black women and you know what? That's really OK. Would the world be up in arms if Jay Z said he wasn't attracted to white women?? No, they wouldn't. It wouldn't even be a blip in the press. We are allowed to be attracted to whomever we want to be and there is nothing wrong with saying so. If he had said I'm not attracted to red headed women, red hair turns me off, there would be no backlash. What's the difference? What if he said he wasn't attracted to Asian, or Indian women? But because he said Black, people got bent out of shape and most of those people were white because we've been programed to not touch that hot buttom, well John did. He didn't say it in the best way and he took heat from it. That's how my black friends explained it to me. Yes, John Mayer can be a douche. The things he said about Jessica Simpson, shows how immature he is. If anyone's ever followed him on twitter you know he likes to talk. He likes to shock. He really thinks he's being funny but most times it doesn't come off that way.
To hold Keith accountable for someone else's actions or words that they've spoken is just ridiculous. He's not his brother keeper.
I saw a crowd go wild tonight for Montgomery Gentry. What was it 2 yrs or so ago that Troy got into trouble for shooting a bear in one of those controlled shooting places. People forget. How many commedians have said the N word, they catch some flack for it for a bit and their careers go on. This too shall pass for John, if it hasn't already and I doubt Keith will be tainted with any backlash by performing with him.
So see, I'm not affraid to speak on this subject.

Now it's usually at this point that I would normally speculate where kidman fits into this whole "orb wallowing in mayer's degenerative and condesending stench"...firstly, you should recall kidman was NOT in attendence at the Crossroads taping...(and I doubt if kidman will attend their live gig in August.) And normally I would be taking bets as to whether kidman will attend the CMT awards...but it IS an award show and another red carpet opportunity...and kidman has NOTHING else going on! But of course, if kidman DOES NOT show for the awards...the reason would clearly be obvious! And truly following kidman's career at this point is akin to patroling after a shipwreck at sea...simply stumbling on remnents of the once afloat ship...simple shadows and pieces of that past viable entity...which is no more. Sure, they can try to "rebrand" kidman as a "rom-com" player...rename the ship...but my guess is, that the reality is that just as there was NEVER a "Titanic 2"...kidman is sunk!

OMG, 123xyz, I could not have said it better. You're so right.

I thought it was a great performance. I don't know how you can say that Keith looked terrible. I thought he looked and sounded FANTASTIC!!!!!

I am not a fan of Mayer, I think he is an ass. However Keith made up for Mayer's shortcomings.

I am looking forward to the whole performance.

I may be VERY wrong, forgive me if I am, but I think Laura and 123xyz may be the same person in reality.

123xyz said...

Your are very wrong.

123xyz said...

abc you might want to go back and read the last thread Laura agreed with you on Keith going out of his way to be sexy. I didn't. I've been pretty addament what I thought about that issue. Just because she said she agreed with what I posted here doesn't mean we are the same person.

Tara said...

Montgomery Gentry will never have the momentum they had 4 years ago and that is because of the bear killing-

Mayer is a jerk bag and a creep.

I think that maybe one of the things Kidman and I agree upon.

ok

did you enjoy your weekend musicfest!

Unknown said...

Wtf? You would think that. And yeah, like 123xyz said, I did agree with you that he tries to be sexy. But then again, he doesn't even have to try. He's sexy as it is, :)

Yes, I did. I enjoy MG and LBT a lot. I was interested seeing Jamey Johnson he was a bit boring until "In Color". He's playing guitar with a broken wrist or thumb, it was in a cast. I was also looking forward to seeing Jack Ingram. He talks too much inbetween songs though. If he said it once he said it 5 times. "I'm Jack Ingram and I play country music". I was like OK Jack, we got it. Jack kept calling Camden, NJ. Hamden. So he didn't even know where he was. I thought it was funny since he just talked about this happening at show.
