More of the same from the Kidman Urban Clan

At least they recycle... obviously they don't need to learn any new lines... they just repeat the same old crap time after time....

Keith Urban ‘Not Not Trying’ For More Kids

Date: 12-Jun-2010

There could be another baby on the way for Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman. The country crooner, 42, doesn’t rule out expanding his family with the Oscar winner, who turns 43 this month, following later-in-life pregnancies for Kelly Preston, 47, and Celine Dion, 42.

“I’m not not trying,” he chuckles backstage Friday during the CMA Music Festival held at Nashville’s LP Field.

There’s no time like the present for the couple who will celebrate four years of marriage later this month. The dazzling duo are parents to Sunday Rose, who turns 2 in July, and her kids Isabella, 17, and Conor, 15, whom she adopted with ex Tom Cruise.

Is their young tot more like him or her?

“She’s a good mix, I think,” he tells me. “She’s got my wife’s legs, that’s for sure.”

Fatherhood certainly suits the country crooner.

“It’s always something new,” he marvels. “That’s what I love about it. Maybe dads are different, but to me it’s coming on like ‘oh my God, that’s my daughter.’ It’s beautiful. It’s absolutely beautiful. It’s great.”

That nurturing instinct was in effect with season eight American Idol finalist Danny Gokey during this week’s CMT Awards.

“I was walking down the hallway, and Keith Urban called me by him,” Danny recounts. “It was the coolest thing. I was walking with him, surrounded by people, and all of a sudden, he goes ‘Danny, come here.’ I was like ‘oh,’ and I came running over there. He mentioned that his family loved my single, My Best Days Are Ahead of Me. He mentioned a story how they were walking through Nashville Shores, and how they heard it – and one of his kids came up to him and said ‘who is that?’ He was like ‘I know that tone of voice,’ and he heard it, and he went looking in Billboard magazine, and said ‘yep, I was right. We love that song – it’s a great song.’ I was honored. I was speechless, too.”

For Keith, having movie icon Nicole by his side meant giving her a crash course in country starting soon after they met at a G’Day L.A. event honoring Australians in January 2005. “She had no history of country at all, so it’s been great to be the one to get her into it,” he says. “Not long after we started dating, I actually went to the record store and bought her The Best of Waylon, and I played Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way. I put it in there amongst a bunch of other discs, and I just let that song play first. She was like ‘my word, what is this?’ That was her first real taste of it. From there, she’s gotten into the Zac Brown Band and she loves Miranda [Lambert].”

Oy! That makes about the 4th or 5th "slowdown" for family from kidman...now I suppose the photo op of kidman's exposed pot belly out to brunch last week failed to produce any "Is she expecting" buzz, so orb is stepping up to try and further it along. So tired and anemic from mutt and jeff....

So in this "E-o'-L-N-M's"...

...after orb mined kidman's "PR baby" to try and stoke a little "Is kidman expecting?" PR buzz...I see the orb is still also trying to juice up his obvious declining appeal...it seems orb appeared at the CMA music festival...yes... a "festival"...one in which orb is but one of many attractions!

http://www.cmt.com/news/country-music/1641425/kid-rock-reba-mcentire-keith-urban-miranda-lambert-excite-cma-music-festival-fans.jhtml

Kid Rock, Reba McEntire, Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert Excite CMA Music Festival Fans

...and the orb CONTINUES to mine the "classic rock" sound for the festival...

"Urban concluded his set with an impassioned cover of Joe Cocker's arrangement of "With a Little Help From My Friends" that included a small horn section..."

...not only did orb cover the classic Beatle's "With a Little Help From My Friends"...but also performed the joe cocker version! Two classic covers for the price of one! Ha! Also hilarious, kid "I love the confederate flag" rock even performed what could be the orb's and napalm's new love theme...

"a medley "Cowboy" and "Theme From The Dukes of Hazzard (Good Ol' Boys)"

Yeah, "just some good ol' boys! Again, orb trying to tap into that "classic" rock sound by butchering another Beatles classic IS NOT going to reduce the taint of the napalm! It simply shows his obvious desperation of trying to get people to believe that he "sounds" like someone else...and usually, it's music that is vastly superior to his pathetic little shallow jingles! Believe me, orb is NOT going to ride on the Beatles and the Rolling Stones back into major popular appeal again...he is going to simply wallow in the sludge that is the napalm!

I am a skeptic ... mainly of the union and how it has impacted Keith Urban's career.

However, as many ways as you want to look at the facts, no one can deny that his career is recovering. I agree that in 2006 and 2007, he was struggling. But in the last couple of years, he had a very successful tour, he's put out a new album & had four singles in the top five and two number ones in the last 18 months. He's won awards including People's Choice, a Grammy and the CMT male video of the year. He's making money. He was nominated as Tenessean of the Year. The fact his CD hasn't sold like crazy is not a good indicator - it is common knowledge that the recording industry is struggling right now because of global poor album sales.

This is not the bio of a man struggling with his career. He is working on an album, and that's why he didn't do the full fledged tour this year. That's the reason for playing the fairs etc. It's easier to go and play without all the bells and whistles, because he is going to be going on the road when his next album is out, and he'll need the full meal deal then. But he can do the dates he wants this summer, enjoy his reduced schedule, get his album done and be ready for a big tour when the album is released.

Is NK's career declining? Absolutely. That's obvious. I think she's very concerned and will do anything to get her own career back on track. Hopefully she'll leave her face alone in the process.

Keith's career was declining in 2006/07 but with commitment and an obvious effort to woo the fans, he is back on the right path. Do I like every decision he makes? No. But I do like the fact that he is working at it...he didn't look that interested in his career up til about 18 months ago, and now, he's engaged. That's all I ask.

I could care less if he's married to NK or Kenny Chesney.

I see it a little differently imahick. I don't think Keith put anything into his career until he had to. Nicole's career was in trouble in 07' but she hit the wall in 08' with Australia. Up until then he was content being Keith Kidman. Now its his turn to carry the ball for the two of them. Thats what we've seen for the last 18 months in my opinion. Its all about her, it always is.

Imahick said...

You know...I can't disagree with your comments on the timing. You maybe right about what is motivating him. I tend to think he just didn't like that he wasn't making the waves he used to make and wanted to get back "on the horse" ... but it could be because NK's career was/is struggling.

Either way, I agree that he's been working at it since 2008.

I also agree that the focus is on her most of the time. Even when it's his award show, she gets alot of face time on TV. The ET / ShowBiz Tonight shows covered his win at the CMT awards...but only the part of his speech that addressed "Baby Girl".

Thats because publicity is what their union is all about. If Keith can't provide it for her (especially now that shes struggling) she has no use for him. If he wants to keep the famous wife and her lifestyle he has to step up. Because as you say, its his awards show/career but she gets the publicity.

Well, her intelligence may be questionable, but her instinct was right on with regards to marriage. She like most super artificial, vain women who had once up a time fancied themselves to be the fairest one of them all, will live out their lives only concern about themselves while those they choose in their close worlds come and disappear. It will always be about them. He's completely disposable, and with exception of obligatory return to sustain his royalty to her (mental, calculated), his life is totally uninteresting. Many suspect this, yet he'll always be unable to be on his own. At least she hit the jackpot with this one in her cesspool of career messes....

Clearly mikki, orb was content to "play along" with inept team kidman after their hookup. Obviously orb believed that the hookup itself would be a PR boom to his career. But...it now has been shown to have had the opposite effect. Now he must scramble to try and restore that lost luster. And now that it seems obvious that it is orb who must now take the lead in the PR pushing... now that kidman is a confirmed publicity bust with no career to speak of...orb IS scrambling! And if the so called self proclaimed "skeptics" believe that the orb now is going to become "hunky dory" and now come out smelling like a "pr baby" sunday rose...they should consider this...now that orb is obviously calling his own PR shots...his first decision is to shackle himself professionally with the napalm mayer! Yes...THAT IS SOME MIGHTY FINE PR GENIUS! So first its with kidman... now with napalm...chew on that "skeptics!" HA!

So, just a little more insight into the "new" parmeters of the kidman/orb partnership. From the article posted in the main blog...

"For Keith, having movie icon Nicole by his side meant giving her a crash course in country starting soon after they met at a G’Day L.A. event honoring Australians in January 2005.

Well, before I start let me get to this first...quote orb: "and I just let that song play first. She was like ‘my word, what is this?’ Now, in this day and age...who the hell says, "my word, what is this? Sounds like inept team orb looked this up in an "old timey" PR manual...you know...the one that also proclaims, "great caesar's ghost! and "Faith and Begorra" a normal reaction of delight! Obviously orb has now become "Proffessor Henry Higgens" and hollywood washout kidman is now "Eliza Doolittle"...needing an introduction into the "country community." So it is orb who must explain just how much kidman is now INTO country music...orb EXPLAINS kidman "has gotten into the Zac Brown Band and she loves Miranda [Lambert]"...for clearly, kidman COULD NOT explain that, right? God forbid the "laland red carpet queen" kidman could have once in the past 4 years explained herself how she "just loves the zac brown band and miranda lambert! But she never has...because...it is just PR BS! It's a pretty pathetic attempt by orb to try and ingratiate kidman and attempt to "warm" the country crowd to kidman...now that she is a clear washout with her former lalaland crowd. The orb now trying to, as I said, ingratiate kidman to the country set is bound to be just another lame PR stunt kidman has been known for...of which orb is now taking up the mantle...to most assurdly...and epically fail!

What tv shows or critics choose to use in their coverage is not up to the KUNK. They "choose" to focus on Kidman. Keith can't do anything to stop that. Even if they divorce he will always be connected to her. Every review will mention her. That is his lot in life.
I believe Keith has worked really hard the last 2 years to get back what he lost. Because he wanted it.

Yes maclen, the tables have turned and Keith must now keep the PR going and keep her name in the news.

http://www.theboot.com/2010/06/13/keith-urban-nicole-kidman-daughter/

She's not going to be married to a "nobody". Thats of no use to her. And Keith WILL promote her at every opportunity. Thats his job.

OK my opinion for what it's worth----Since these 2 people are HUMAN BEINGS like all of us they are probably "concerned" with both of their careers. MANY MANY MANY couples struggle with the wife having a bigger career (whatever fields they may be in). It's a hard adjustment for ANY couple when careers rise & fall. But honestly I don't see that with Keith. I don't think he really cares what Nicole brings in or even if she quits working because he can support them both as long as he can play & sell his music. Shoot he could just write music & probably make it for quite a few years then add the other talents he has! But on the other hand look at Nicole, she has made her career on her looks & her acting ability(NOT professionally trained, I don't think). Well, who could blame her IF her looks start to go the natural way of aging. She possibly could be scared, nervous & doubting herself thinking that a career she chose since she was a teenager may be on the way to being over. In her mind she might feel that she can't recapture the fame, fortune, fun that she once had & all that goes with that. What do you do? I mean look at it from her point of view. She has probably ONLY ever acted or been photographed & been paid handsomely for it. Who could blame her IF she freaked out a bit now IF things were going south. Keith's looks really don't affect his career. His music plays on the radio. He can continue his career even IF his looks go south. I would hate to be somebody like Nicole from an early age (limited education) being told I was so beautiful, everything I did was wonderful, I just have to smile & it makes me lots of money, everything is handed to me the way I want it. Then you hit your mid 40's, you have a baby (YES I think she's thrilled to have been blessed with Sunday), your interest now center on 2 other people in your life when you've spent your whole life furthering yourself/your looks because THAT was your career & you age as nature takes its course. Again, it's a BIG adjustment for anybody but she has to do it in the spotlight. Granted she & Keith have both received NICE, money-filled lives for providing us ,the public, with enjoyment. But they've also paid a heavy price. I won't get picky & way into all of the pros & cons of their lives verses our lives but just think about what it would be like to walk in their shoes all the time. Talk about doubting yourself constantly. They must NEVER know if somebody is kissing up because of who they are & what they can get out of knowing them or if someone truly cares about them as the people they are without the fame. All I'm saying is that you & I can go back to school get new training & get a job just about anywhere doing anything. IF their careers go completely down the toilet they (COULD retrain in something else) but I'm sure it would be almost impossible. YES Keith & Nicole will NEVER know the suffereing & trials that many ordinary folks go through daily but they weren't always the famous musician & actress---they were once just Keith Lionel Urban & Nicole Mary Kidman the light of their parents eyes & unknown to the masses. They were young people who just WANTED to be a musician & an actress. Personally while I think they are blessed I would not walk in their shoes. The constant dependency of your career on the talent you have or don't have & whether the public has soured on you or not has to be a very scary thing. Always having to "be" on even when you don't feel like it has to be a royal pain. When I want to be grouchy I'm grouchy & it doesn't make the press. When they blink wrong it's splashed everywhere. OK, I'll get down off my box now. Just remember we each have our joys & our sorrows no matter who we are & no matter what amount of $$$$$ we have to out name. Best to you all & the best to the Urbans.

All due respect Joy, Nicole Kidman has lead a very privileged lifestyle throughout her adult life. And she has enough money to see her through the rest of her life if she never works another day. And Keith will always be able to find an audience somewhere. There is no reason to think that either of them would ever be down and out and in need of retraining for another career.

Smorgas91, well said. I agree.

Thanks, Mikki; it's also great reading your thoughtful approach to issues.

As transplants in the US, they are afterall not natives, and somethings do get lost in the translation. With the humble we love TN / don't do big parties / us and they approach, there is a possibility that they could just be naive about somethings the natives aren't...nah, she had 10 or 11 (or 13) yrs of sh*t with cruise, had seen and experienced from the skewed sideline, no excuses for her odd, unbelievable, strange professional tactics and blunders. Has anyone drafted a list of movies she got dropped/fired (okay, quit) in the last several years? Some are quite major movies...yeah those she did succeed to star in were box office bombs...or could it be that she was finally able to snag -- here's another side not typically mentioned -- that other stars had passed up. There's plenty of stuff that goes on in HW, hear a lot are ugly, it's a super sunny weather world (duh, yeah) where your worth is constantly being appraised. To not have the genuine talent, but also lacking in intelligence to cope with the problems could be pretty taxing on one's sanity. Then she has aging to seal her doomed professional fate, where her looks had saved her 100% before -- yep, Joy, its probably pretty scary....

Joy - I think Keith's career is bigger than hers these days. Wouldn't be hard at all:

I wouldn't be surprised to see parallels between KUNK and Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson or Hilary Swank and Chad Lowe. In all three, there is a reversal of the roles during the marriage, with two of them ending in divorce. Of course, only KUNK have the baby, but there still may be enough stress from the changes going down to cause a permanent breach.

I mean, do you see the awkwardness in the body language of their CMT kiss on the home page? Torsos facing the camera, Nicole leaning away from Keith, him with his hand in his pocket, her with hers by her side... These are two people who don't want to know from each other, and are touching only because there's a camera in their faces.

It's sad.
