Well, from what I count...that's TWO noms for the orb. The usual, of course...Entertainer and Male Vocal. Usually, the Male vocal nom is what I would usually call orb's "obligatory" nom, but this year his "obligatory" nom is Entertainer! How does orb get a "ENTERTAINER" nom...WITHOUT a nod for SINGER, SONG or for that matter, MUSICAN! HA! "Guitar Hero" my eye! Thats like saying tiger woods should be Golfer of the year despite not having won a tournament! And what the hell!! No "Album of the year" for Defying Sales?! And what about all those hit country singles?? Dont those CMA-holes know he is just as viable a country star as ever!!
Well, obviously it's miranda lamberts year...and that "Boys club" of "entertainer" in country is at risk once again, as lambert has a nod! No mystery as to who I will be rooting for in that coveted top spot. Like I mentioned earlier...it's "out with the old and in with the new!"

...furthermore...

(got tired of ...ps...)

...The CMAs last year...orb recieved 4...I mean...3 1/2 noms...Entertainer and male voc...(DUH!)...but also Album and that 1/2 nom with paisley. Orb only won that 1/2 award with paisly! Now, just a side note, look at this orb wiki page...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keith_Urban

...and scroll down to the "Awards won brackets...and notice the "trend" Anyone doubting the orb's declining success in awards...in 2005 orb won a total of 8 awards that year...in 2006 he won a total of only 4 awards...in 2007 ONLY one award....in 2008, again one award...and then in 2009 3 awards. There was a HUGE drop off after 2005...then a slight uptick when he began to get his "obligatory" noms and awards for being a country "ELDER"... no doubt! Now recall the CMAs last year...orb had set up a "promo" opportunity when he "co-opted" vince gills work for the HALL...by turning it into the "BENEFIT FOR KEITH URBAN....with friends" concert which he announced on stage at a live gig at the end of August to be held in Oct..RIGHT IN THE MIST AND HEATED VOTING for the CMAs! I pointed out at the time, with 3 weeks left of CMA awards voting. And after all that, orb ONLY won that measly 1/2 award with paisley! Now orb has only two paltry noms this year... the two catagories he has the least chance of taking. Well, it seems this years "BENEFIT FOR KEITH URBAN" has not yet been announced. But I have no doubt it will take place once again, to give voters a chance to vote for orb at the CMAs..IF it's actually announced! I can certainly see how orb may be desperate to get his possibly "rushed" released cd finished in time for a Nov release. He may SKIP the personal shilling of a benefit to concentrate on his dwindling career!

...and further along...

...as I would have expected, the monkeys are NOT too happy about orb's two measley CMA noms!

"Well I am stunned and worried! TSCA wins Video of the year and is passed over???

Yes, you SHOULD be stunned and worried, bro! And theres some griping about how kid rock got to sing THREE songs and orb got to only sing TWO songs at the CMA music festival, telecast tonight!

"Still can't believe Kid Rock got THREE songs, and Keith got two.."

Well, apparently, despite the monkeys protests...orb is NOT the "King of Country!" Kid Rock can easily "OUT ROCK" the lackluster orb...which would explain the orb's butchering of The Beatles "With a litte Help from my friends!"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvR8JNhHyU8

Keith Urban & Friends - "With a Little Help from My Friends" (2010 CMA Music Fest)

...it's bad enough the orb has to "express" his... or rather The Beatles message of brotherhood and empathy for the tennessee flooding victims...by co-opting their famous song...clearly the orb HAS no chops to write his own tribute song...but then flagrantly rips off joe cockers version for the telecast. As I've stated before, the orb is ONE SORRY UNIMAGINATIVE AND PASSIONLESS HACK! So, how unimaginative is the orb...he sings "With a little help from my friends"... with "friends!" ohhhh how original! Ringo Starr does that all the time...but then...you know! Seems it's about that time that the orb needs ALOT of friends...for this telecast performance...the upcoming "BENEFIT FOR KEITH URBAN...and friends" Orb no doubt is feeling...that sinking feeling...which gives me a thought...you think given the possibility that CapNash may force orb to release his next cd in about 3 months...the orb may NOT even bother to write an original song dedicated to the tennessee flooding...and simply record a cover of The Beatles "With a little help from my friends" to include in is next cd instead? I did also say I got the impression the orb intended to plunder that "classic rock vibe" of the Beatles and stones that began early this year? Well, the pieces may be starting to come together...we shall see...

How can Keith get any nominations when he hasn't released a new album for 2 years? I dont understand these awards. I can understand if there was a CMA for artist with scariest partner.

Comments like those from Monkeyville prove that his fans are very naïve, ignorant and simple-minded. They can only be impressed by Keith and Keith only. They seem to forget that it isn’t Keith Urban music, but country music. “Toes” and “Hillbilly Bone” fit into country music. Those songs have been very popular, and they produced very entertaining videos. TSCA and “I’m In” are not true country music, and would be considered more of a pop music sound. Where is the video for “I’m In”? It shows what obsessed fans he has when they think he should be nominated for everything and win everything. He isn’t the only person in Nashville with talent. This year’s nominations prove that. If he doesn’t put more into his career, he’ll have to resort to presenting the awards in the future just so he can give his ode to his wife during awards season.

He released singles during the year so he is in the running for an award.
I am surprised that Summer didn't get a Video of the year nomination. It really is one of his best videos.
Yes, when he does good work I am rooting form him. I am actually going to say right here that I think he has a damn good chance of taking Entertainer of the Year. I think his only real competition is Paisley. I love Miranda, have watched her career blossom since she opened for Keith in '05. But ETOY not yet. But I think she and Lady A will clean up the awards.

I also think he will do All for the Hall again. Why would he not?

"How can Keith get any nominations when he hasn't released a new album for 2 years?"

You may have a point on that choice. Doing a little research, seems the eligability period for Albums is from July to June of the next year. So for this years CMAs of 2010, eligable Albums must have been released between july 1 2009 and june 30. So it seems Defying Sales, released in march of 2009, is ineligible. Recall, it WAS nominated last year and didnt win. But as tara points out, he has released singles throughout the year but not one was nominated for anything. And speaking of Tara...I'd like to read reasons WHY orb " has a damn good chance of taking Entertainer of the Year." Are there actual reasons...or is it just wishful thinking?

Kramer: "Yama hama, it's fright night."

I MUST...I must break my own self imposed embargo to post this...

...it seems the CMA music Festival was crashed by the "Phantom of the Opera!"

http://www.hollywoodlife.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/090110_country_music_6.jpg

I dont get it all...here on the west coast, the weather's been rather warm...yesterday it was 94 degrees...so why is "mutt" here storing nuts in her cheeks? Is she saving up for winter? Obviously, she suffers from that affliction mentioned in that episode of Seinfeld...she's a "two face"...looks ok in the right lighting...but is a fright in bad lighting!

I now return you to your regularly scheduled thread....

You know what pisses me off? I'm a huge Keith Urban fan, but why in the hell do people complain about Taylor Swift being more pop than country but don't complain about Keith or Lady A or any other pop-country artists out there who are almost/basically the same? MY answer/opinion- jealousy. I know that has nothing to do with this post, but I'm just saying, country music fans seem to cut her down and talk horribly about her, for what reason? She's a 20 year old female! She's still young and learning!

I guess that just came to mind when I read one of the comments saying that Keith wasn't real country music.

Here are my reasons why Keith should not win EOTY:

1. Lady Antebellum and Miranda both have been nominated for album of the year. Even in Keith's eyes, that's a bigger compliment than winning EOTY.

2. They both have releases nominated for song and single of the year. Keith doesn't.

3. They both are pounding the pavement and are still hungry - Keith isn't.

Some will argue, "but Keith is a great guitar player." Guitar playing will only take you so far. I have seen both Lady Antebellum and Miranda in concert. Lady Antebellum has some sort of chemistry on stage that really captures the audience, and Miranda just rocks the heck out of the audience.

Every entertainer brings their own assets to the stage, so right now I don't see Keith as being any better than the rest. Right now, he's has the least going on in his career - no new album and minimal touring. Maybe his private gigs will get him the award?

Uhm, excuse me, but the Entertainer of the Year award has nothing to do with any of the things you mentioned. It has to do with ENTERTAINING. And no one nominated, besides maybe Brad Paisley, is better at working a crowd and putting on a great show than Keith Urban. I've seen him live, and know a lot others who have, too. Not one negative thing to say about his concerts. All positive. Very positive. It's LONG overdue that he win EOTY.

"1. Lady Antebellum and Miranda both have been nominated for album of the year. Even in Keith's eyes, that's a bigger compliment than winning EOTY.

2. They both have releases nominated for song and single of the year. Keith doesn't."

How in the world does that have to do with the ENTERTAINER of the Year award? What??

maclen, thanks I needed humor this afternoon! That woman can't do a thing with her hair on her own. This is the natural Nicole Kidman - not much to look at, eh?

Laura, I get what you are saying, but I'm listening to "I Need You Now" on the radio right now. What a coincidence! Some may say they are pop, but really listen to the instrumentals. There's defintely country in their songs.

blue sky said...

I don't mean to sound rude Laura, but you are incorrect - it isn't just about entertaining:

Entertainer of the Year:

This award is for the act displaying the greatest competence in all aspects of the entertainment field. Voter should give consideration not only to recorded performance, but also to the in-person performance, staging, public acceptance, attitude, leadership, and overall contribution to the Country Music image. Award to artist.

Please enjoy at your leisure, and notice, please, that the new PR team, (I am assuming) has advised to leave out the reference to the wifey.

Your welcome, blue sky...yep, that is what has become of mutant faced "mutt!"

As to that mcall article hoosier...oh yeah that's some "COMICAL" spin at that! Well right off, the signs that this is gonna be a huge heaping pile of stuff is evident! Defying Sales is a "blockbuster?" And there, an out and out LIE! to wit...

"It's been just 17 months since his blockbuster "Defying Gravity" was released — meaning a new disc would the shortest time between albums in a career that has seen all five of his U.S. releases hit platinum sales."

No...NOT all of his US releases HAVE hit platinum....Defying Sales has been stuck at the 800+k sales for most of this year! So there's another case of Mcall PR BS! And, oh yeah, no doubt HE truly believes that he has a "strong batch" of songs to release his cd THIS YEAR! NO, more like capnash wouldnt fund his next cd into next year...so they are forcing orb to release it earlier! Which again I submit will be the reason that this cd will also be another heaping pile of lackluster stuff! PR BS walks and failure talks this year for the orb. I can see beyond the manipulation, and I can see that orb is being forced to "put out...and sell cds...fast...or he is through! I have no doubt the orb will tank. He hasnt shown that he has anything particularly relevent or profound...meaningful or salient to say beyond he is a happy hubby or pops. Unless you want to include the orb ripping off The Beatles songs, "Help!" and "With a Little Help from My Friends" for his own personal social comments on the tragedys of the tennesee flooding or gulf oil spill! Orb couldnt find a profoundly salient thought or notion if it was to hit him smack dab in his own "manicured" face...or even if it involved his "frosty" highlighted hair...which he no doubt spends a huge amount of time on!

maclen said...

...furthermore...

...you're right hoosier, finished reading the rest of that article...nothing about "mutt!" Clearly, with the confirmation of his cd coming out late this year, HIS people no doubt dont want much of "mutt" discussed in the cd's promo! So, another issue about the info of this article...orb claims that he began working on this cd back in January...and he says he's about half way done. Now, were in SEpt, so that's 9 months time it took orb to finish half the cd...and now, he confirms that the cd will come out THIS YEAR? So, basically the orb will now finish...THE OTHER HALF of this cd in 3 months time? Or, if the rumor is correct that they may release it in Nov...he will finish the other half in 2 months!? HA! I'm really beginning to get the notion that the orb will NOT have his "BENEFIT FOR KEITH URBAN" concert this year...as he proclaimed after last years. He may no doubt be rushing and hurrying to finish this cd before the money...and my guess is alot less money... capnash provided for this album. If I'm correctly reading the very shallow and light weight orb...his is really up against it now!

so in one week we went from a directionless record to a title (Get Closer) a theme boy/ girl relationships and as Keith says a sexier record to a new single
(Put you In A song) co written with Jedd Hughes and Sarah Buxton. Things are seeming to be moving pretty fast now. Release date is November 16.
Wow all of a sudden and everything!
Golly gee I bet its going to be a big hit. Maybe Sarah will be singing backup.

Yes Tara, right on the heels of Keith being nominated for two major awards comes the announcement that a new song will be released from his new CD in a few days and the new CD itself in November, right around the CMA's.
And using one of the tricks of the trade, the new CD will hit #1 the first week right out of the gate! Lots of hype to bring attention to Keith right around the excitement of the awards. Now if he can only win one. Maybe that would "finally" gain him some new fans and sell more CD's. Capitol can only hope.

I'm excited to have Keith's new album come out in November! Not really, but I am from the standpoint that Taylor Swift's new album comes out at the end of October. What will be the excuses the fansies will conjure up for Taylor selling a million albums, and Keith having a hard time getting to 100,000? I don't get why everything Taylor does turns to platinum, but it will be fun to compare the two album sales!
