Pick Keith Urban's New Album Cover - Updated with the Chosen Cover

It is UM's opinion that he REALLY doesn't care if this album sells to the fans of HIS MUSIC. It will probably sell to all of her fans, though. He wants you to help pick the cover of the CD:

http://www.facebook.com/keithurban

Here is one option:

Here is the other option:

Here is the cover that he chose... thanks maclen...

I recognize that boney collar bone anywhere. That is not flattering looking at all. They really should have photoshopped it, along with the freckles on her porcelain skin. He looks bad in both pictures.

Can I pick neither?

I have another comment - why is he so pale-looking - almost corpse-like in the second picture compared to picture #1? Also, for being his wife and the whole "Get Closer" theme, that has to be one of the coldest pictures I have seen of a couple.

maclen said...

HA! Odds totally on favorite...that the SECOND photo IS NOT the cover voted by the fansies! Yes...so the desperate orb is throwing a bone to the fansies over choosing the cover photo...or more than likely, he just "wants to hear their opinions", and I highly doubt if he will actually listen. So how many of his fansie will actually partcipate in this poll? How many of orb's facebook followers are ACTUALLY going to buy the cd? So, which will be chosen... the one I expect the fansie's would favor...the one of the solo pose with the frosted highlights and all...or the other photo...which is no doubt the one the orb would rather choose...for it will no doubt cause "buzz" over whether or not that is ACTUALLY mutt in the pose! I hope orb does pick the photo with the clammy, pale claw draped around him. Her involvement in even a subtle manner will no doubt be a kiss of death!

Is that the wife behind him in the close-up shot?

...well...

..initial comments for the "competing" photos over at orb's facebook page has the first "solo" photo of orb leading by about 500 comments...1,630 for the second photo and 2,152 comments for the second. Which I of course feel will remain unchanged. The only difference between the rather "Lily white" and "bland" photos is the presence of that "clammy claw" in the second pic. I mean, truly, what are the odds that the orb is NOT going to put the clammy claw on the cover...now that photos have been released as possiblities? Orb is gonna admit the "clammy claw" doensnt belong on the cover?

Just another way to promote NK maclen. Thats his job.

maclen said...

So in this orb edition of "Late night musings...

...so the initial reaction to the "Dueling Blandos"... generic LP cover photo remains basically constant. Solo photo #1 remains in the lead in the facebook debate....with not only solo #1 still ahead in comments...2,715 to 2,126...but leading substantially in the "like" option with a whopping 18,351 for #1 to 8,175 for #2! I agree with blue sky...

"that has to be one of the coldest pictures I have seen of a couple."

...again, orb exudes the "emotion" or the "charisma" of a front store mannequin...with about as much "color" as the white background...and the choice of either picture will simply give the cd itself... with that cover... about as much "profile" as a "Got Milk" ad! And I'd suggest orb use "Strawberry Quick" in the milk just to give it a little color! His expression is identical in both pics...and any silly fansie trying to insinuate any "sensuality" or "sexiness" whatsoever in them would find a chicken egg as complex. No doubt the blandness of white is to avoid any distraction from the "frosted highlights." And before an annoying fansie complains how I might overuse that phrase..."frosted highlights"...it is my basic metaphor for everything orb presents. He's the classic "Teen Beat" heartthrob wannabe... he's a 40-something "shaun cassidy"...singing about how he wants sneak out of his parents house to pick up his girl in his uncle's pick up truck...playing his song for her on the radio...really loud...and he strives for nothing more...but the retreads of basic guitar hooks and the shallow and catchy lyrics that basically only leave you with the urge to tap your toes...and nothing more.

Why do I feel this is Keith's FU to his fans who don't like the wife? Just saying...

I also noticed, that while I am glad we don't see the face, why don't we see his ring? Interesting concept. He is so in love with the woman, and he felt this is the first time in his life he could get closer to what he wanted, then proudly display the ring. Better yet, show the banner and the sunburst if it all pertains to the family he so longed for.

Once again I don't have high hopes for this CD crashing onto the charts at #1. I think Rascal Flatts new one drops the same day or near it.

And why do I feel that all of this is just a game to him now? He says he still has the passion to play and loves to write boy-girl songs. I just don't see it anymore when it comes to him putting it on a CD but yet when hits the stage, all those poor songs turn into something killer. Perhaps, the next CD should be a live one. That may get him back up the charts.

notachance said...

I think the pasty white is his real coloring these days, doubtful that he's allowed to tan.

If that is NK in the picture then my guess is he'll do a duets album next with her on, what will probably be, HER label.

And Keith has a rumored girlfriend??

LindaMarie said...

I have another theory actually two.

The second cover is actually the back of the CD so they could be reversable so to speak. Remeber Keith didn't like to use women in his videos and on his CD covers. He leaves the interpretations up to the fans. With the wife in the photo, there is no interpretation, it is a fact. This is my wife, get over it. I still say it is a big FU.

LindaMarie said...

Rumored girlfriend? Maybe that is her arm and is a big FU to the wife! LOL!

Notachance where did you hear that? I have heard that rumor a while ago.

I believe his next label will be a Kidman bought for him one. BG Records. I do see duets in their future. If his career is dying a slow death, what better way to put it out its' misery?

Tara said...

I don't think its a FU to the fans
I do think he knows this CD is DOA when it's released and just like all of his other product that has been associated with the wife it fails.
I don't think things between him and Cap Nash are all hunky dorey so why not put something on the cover that is going to push people from buying the record and making the company take a bath. Keith isn't stupid and he has a great sense of humor.

blue sky said...

I'm laughing more and more over #2 because she really looks more like a mannequin than a human being.

I agree with you LindaMarie - it is an FU to fans who don't worship his wife. It doesn't bother me because he'll regret putting her in a song and on the album cover when they are divorced!

Anonymous said...

notachance, if its true that Keith is done with Capitol then you could be right about his future being HER label. While the music has been inspired by her, for her or chosen by her all along, this is the first time she has actually physically appeared as part of Keith's career - right on the cover of his album. Could be an introduction of things to come.

That bland, lilly white coloring has NK written all over it as well.

And again, has Keith had some facial procedures done???

blue sky said...

I'm betting that even though the "Likes" are going for #1 on Facebook, we will be seeing #2 on the cover. The decision has been made already. He is doing what Rascal Flatts has done in the past.

I said it in a few blogs before - Kidman will own his next label.

LindaMarie said...

blue sky:

There is no doubt in my mind that Kidman will own his next label. She already owns his soul.

Tara said...

girlfriend rumors have been around since the spring.

I think he is either in talks or has a deal with someone. I don't think Kidman has the money to back him
nor may want to. He has said she doesn't get the music business anymore than he gets hollyweird.

Kidman got a good settlement from her first marriage. She also was rumored to have gotten a paycheck every month for five years after the divorce (funny at the end of that she is chasing after Keith.) But she isn't the best paid movie star anymore and she is rumored to keep her money close. I don't think
she would take that risk.

I doubt we will hear anything about his career and future until after the CMAs and the CD release.

Unknown said...

Jeez, he's so whipped.. OK we get it he loves his wife, why does he have to announce it all the time?

By the way, if this marriage really is for PR, then God bless him he's sold his soul to her.

Who would do that for money he already has?! That's why I find it hard to believe it is PR. Maybe she's just fooled him.

LindaMarie said...

Laura - I don't understand why he would either. He has his own money I know but I strongly believe there were reasons why these two entered into their contracted union. She needed a husband and to get with child ASAP and he doesn't ever want to be poor again. Money means an awful lot to him and if marrying for same is how he had to get it, then he sold his soul.

In tonights "E-o'-L-N-M's...orb edition..

...so being the "stat" junkie that I am...and being that I get a jolt when "stats" can back up my "opinion' that the orb is NOT as well off as some who would argue otherwise. The one sure absolute in it is..."numbers dont lie!" And they can reveal many trends that point out the overall picture of your case. So tonight's exercise...overall cd sales...in a relative overview. So thusly, here is the chart for the "elite" of the genre...numbers obtained through wiki...

#1- CHESNEY -24.5mil cds sold in 16 yrs...12 lps- 3 gold, 9 platinum.

#2- RASCAL FLATTS- 18mil cds sold in 10 yrs- 8 Lps- 2 gold, 4 platinum.

#3- UNDERWOOD- 11 mil cds sold in 5 years- 3 LPs- 0 gold, 3 platinum.

#4- ORB- 11mil cds sold in 19 yrs- 8 LPs- 2 gold, 4 platinum.

#5- SWIFTY- 10mil cds sold in 4 yrs- 3 LPs- 0 gold, 2 platinum.

#6- PAISLEY- 8mil cds sold in 11 yrs- 7 LPs- 2 gold, 4 platinum.

..now some "relative" analysis is of course called for...if you look at orb's "19 year" career number...granted there was a 8 year gap from his OZ album that was released in 1991 to his next solo album in 1999...those albums DIDNT add to his cd's sold total...and it doesnt bode well for orb's relative "unenthusiastic" beginnings! And once again, my contention that the relatively "newer" and therefore far more "new-media savvy"(ie: video, youtube etc)... swifty and underwood have in their relatively shorter careers have totally swamped the orb! Underwood in only 5 years has already sold as many cds than orb...and swifty will no doubt reach and probably pass orb with her upcoming cd! And, holding to form.. as in the concert touring season...chesney has SOLD over twice as many cds overall...than orb. JUST as chesney last year grossed TWICE as much as orb did on the road...DESPITE orb playing AS MANY GIGS...and orb's ticket prices were about EQUAL to chesney's! Now, another interesting point in regard to chesney is HIS video for his newest single..."The Boys of Fall" has now hit 2.6mil views in only 2 months on youtube! Now, does that forbode "positive" news for his new cd? Interesting to follow up on and we shall see. And also, Ive mentioned before that orb, in all his time since releasing his first solo album in 1991...orb's only released 7 LPs, with his 8th cd about to come out in a few months. Again, orb's "album to years ratio" is very wide...8 Lps in 19 years...thats 11 unproductive years...songwriting and recording-wise! If you notice the other country singers...the ratio of "albums to years" of their recording periods...the range is one year...which is swifty...to paisley and chesney, which is 4 years. So, just a clarifying explaination of this....for instance...the Beatles "album to years" ratio is -6 years...that's NEGATIVE 6 years! The Beatles recorded together for 8 years...from 1962 to 1970...and they released 14 albums...so that makes -6 years! And basically, that IS a measure of "productivity"...which based on the "degree" and the "shallowness" of the orb's own songwriting abilities..doesnt surprise me!

i'm sure the fansies are peeing all over themselves right now. keith has promised this one to be sexy and now is sitting on the bed and having his half dressed spouse try to be intimate for a cover shot.

seriously keith, intimacy in marriage should be sacred between two people and not sold for profit in some cheesy way like the person you married is obsessed with. go ahead and destroy your career a little more. if you would open your eyes you would see she is a flop in the eyes of the people. she is laughable.

HA! This is hilarious...

http://blogs.tennessean.com/tunein/2010/10/01/keith-urban-wasnt-sure-all-for-the-hall-would-happen/

Keith Urban wasn't sure All for the Hall would happen

"There was a time when Keith Urban wasn't sure that All for the Hall, his annual fundraising concert for The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, was going to happen this year. After May's floods, the country star said he wondered whether the community could sustain yet annother fundraising effort."

Funny, that makes ALOT of sense...doubt whether to have...you know...a BENEFIT FUNDRAISER in a area that's just been hit with a natural catastrphe? Yeah, more than likely orb worried that the recent flooding would take attention AWAY from HIS" "MASSIVE EFFORTS" on behalf of Nashville's Hall of Fame from the CMA awards voters! But even more than likely, the TRUE reason the orb doubted that the "BENEFIT for orb" would occur this year was because of the massive no-shows of the elite country performers from last year! Swifty, paisley, Aldean, bentley and lady ant all skipped this years "orbfest"...and orb was forced to come up with that "old school" lineup and the "Cover a Famer" as a novelty for the show.

maclen said...

...so, an update on that "debate" of the choice for the "blandest" photo for the cover of orb's next cd. Well, I'd basically say the consensus is in...with the orb's Facebook "polls" solo orb photo #1 still leads with 3,235 comments and 21,132 "likes" to 2,513 comments and 9,406 "likes" for the clammy claw photo #2. As well in the poll over at at the boot which URban Myths posted in this thread...

http://www.theboot.com/2010/09/29/keith-urban-get-closer-album-cover/

...also has the solo pic leading with 5,398 votes to 4,535 votes. And the choices over at monkeyland solo orb pic leads with about 30 likes to 22 for clammy claw pic's likes. And, the poll here at Urban Myths, which I've only voted in ONCE...has orb alone winning with 34 vote to 8 votes apiece for "mutt And jeff" and "none of the above". No pretense on my part of course...the monkeys ARE clearly juicing this poll...BUT it is being juiced in exactly the direction I and many others here expected...and it is SANS the claws! Clearly, it was a no brainer...well, certainly on orb's part...for it didnt take a alot of thought as to how it would come out. But in trying to obviously throw a bone to the fansie's to let them feel that they have a say in what photo the cd will have...he's also opened up...perhaps unwittingly... the need of "rejecting" the pic with the claw as too unpopular...and choosing the solo pic for the cover pic. And in the event, which could be possible, that the orb has already chosen to put the claw on the cover...despite the obvious preference of the solo pic by his fansies...then he reveals this whole "help me decide which photo to put on the cover!" as a total sham! So, why WOULD orb decide to put the claw on the cover of his cd? Well, firstly he would want the "buzz" of whether or not mutt is the one actually pictured on the cover to be "hashed" out on all PR for the cd...but mainly, as Ive also already mentioned...the orb is going to admit that putting mutt on his cd cover is not as popular with everyone...even his fansies?

Well, from what I'm reading about it...it's simply a video of orb working and recording in the studio. Funny, but doesnt orb already have a video at his fansie site called "Behind the Scenes" for this song? So, apparently....orb is unable to afford a "creativity brain trust"...simply slapping edited video of in the studio...done countless of times in his fansie site "Urban Developement" series of videos...which get only about 6k to 9k views at most...is NOT a very exciting or interesting manner in which to draw in new fans! Once again, swifty's video, which seems like bloody Gone with the Wind in comparison to orb's little home video...truly does seem to indicate that orb simply doesnt have the money to do a real video!

maclen said...

...forestallingly...

...yes...just watched the new video for orb's single released today...and yes...the video contains footage that was in the "behind the scenes" video already posted at monkeyland. Hard to tell whether they simply recyled video from the monkeyland clip to the official video...or vice versa! Again, quite a bit of "mullah" saved by having an "orb brain trust" intern make this video using iMovie on his iBook! I'm just wondering if they had to use the antiquated "video tape" camcorders... and then having to convert it to digital feed for the editing!

maclen, isn't the real story here the low number of voters? And how many may have voted more than once?? Kind of goes with the low number of views on his utube and fan site videos. Keith may have a loyal fan base but its clearly not "huge". Further proof of that is his CD sales.

NK suffers the same fate. While there is oscar buzz around Rabbit Hole, there is clearly not much interest in NK. Her views on utube are embarrassingly low considering all the hype around the film.

maclen, I know you have lost interest in her, but I would love to hear your opinion about this movie's oscar chances. We know Lionsgate picked it up for that purpose and will release it in December in time to qualify for the oscars. As it is NK's film (producer and production co) will a nomination be enough to turn her career around? Also, she has the HBO film and a Broadway play next year. In addition to Just Go With It and Trespass. Is it all enough to get her back on track?? She is clearly off the radar right now. No interest in her at all. But then, she has limited her publicity to "NK the moviestar". So what do you think?

maclen said...

HA! HA! NOW THIS IS HIGH-LARIOUS! Well, it seems orb has chosen his cover for the cd...and...drum roll please...He's chosen....photo #1...AND #2! Orb just "faked out" his own fansies. He put the "FORMERLY" solo pic on the cover...but IT"S NOT THE SAME PIC! The photo now has a "redhead" lying in the bed that was only shown partially on the photo on his facebook page! So, that poll WAS A SHAM...orb intended to put clammy claw on the cover all along...NOT MATTER what pic the fansies voted for...just as I was hypothesizing!

http://www.amazon.com/Get-Closer-Keith-Urban/dp/B004259BMM

As monkeymember "sunsprite33 at monkeyland posted..

"I like it, but can't help but feel a little decieved by it..."

..and "jeanetteTK" posted...

"Maybe it was just to get feedback as to whether or not to include the other one.
I like this one but think they could have done better.

...maybe orb just wanted "feedback?" YA THINK! Well, as I surmised orb sold out the fansies feedback and just changed to photo they preferred...of a SOLO orb...and now the cover looks like orb is a "paid gigolo" sneaking away from the middle aged "john"....or would that be "joan!" HA! Eat it fansies... who voted for the SOLO pic...and got THE OPPOSITE!!

Yeah, mikki his fansie base on monkeyland IS all he has left. As Ive posted, his "popular appeal" as per his last place youtube standing is pretty pathetic. The only buzz orb has is what the fansies can get him by juicing up those radio requests and spins for his single. There is just so much NOT going for orb to believe that his next cd is gonna underperform Defying sales! As to mutt's new film...she's getting "critical buzz"...for a film that DIDNT suck as much as many thought. I doubt it will change her "popular appeal" to those who really matter....the movie going public. I see this film being released...most certainly "limited release" later this year...will gross a pittance...will fade as other films get released and pondered for oscar buzz. The film is a "dreary weepy indie"...comming out in the december holiday season...recall lionsgate, which will release this new film...also released her other indie, Dogville. I expect no more from this film!

maclen said...

...so more musings of the cover pic choice...

..I wonder if orb will do a cover of "Just a Gigolo" on this new cd? I've thought that part of orb's collapse the past 5 years...losing 2 mil customers from his 2004 cd Be Here to his 2006 cd Love pain cd WAS because he got married to mutt. And many he lost because with the Love Pain cd orb drifted more into bubble gum. Then losing another 1mil customers since Love pain confirms his dwindling fanbase. Orb has commited so many missteps in that time, this whole cd cover poll scam is just the latest! But I expect most of the fansies to be just delluded enough to believe that the orb "just listened to a small minority" and changed the photo to include clammy claw. That orb DIDNT intend all along to put mutt on the cover...that he was able to "CHANGE" photo #1 to include mutt in the past 3 days BECAUSE of a few fansie's suggestion that he put BOTH pics on the cd! No...this was orb intention all along...and again, the poll was just sham to allow the fansie's to BELIEVE they had a choice. WHich it turns out, plainly they never had! If they would have chosen pic #2...mutt is included...they choose pic #2...which was shown to ONLY be of orb ALONE...they STILL get mutt included...very disengenuously and deceptively handled! I say add a few more disinterested NON buyers of this cd!

I think your missing the silver lining, Maclen. See how in both photo 1 and 2 Keith's head is cut off at the top? Now photo 3 reveals his full head and wife in bed. Well, chances are if photo 2 had won the poll, we might have got her whole head in the photo on his cover. Does this make me happy, no but Rod Stewart put Alana Hamilton Stewart on one of his albums. John Lennon put Yoko. Heck, Josh Turner had his wife in his video as his love interest. It's not something new. Do I think they should mix their careers no but then again they aren't, just he is.

http://www.ocregister.com/articles/botox-268550-director-free.html

Apparently she thought the botox was responsible bringing her down. So its rumored that before filming Rabbit Hole she decided on a face lift instead. Which accounts for all the faces she makes in the press - "see, I don't use botox". Now she even has her director confirming she can move her face! By the way, who is this director anyway???

To Keith, well hes required to promote her but its not smart going against his fans who voted her out. Or is this a sign of things to come if its true that Capitol is now history???

Anonymous said...

123xyz, did they ask their fans in advance and then do what they planned to do all along?? The cover was already decided. If NK wanted her face shown she would be facing the camera.

Not smart to go against your fans particularly when they voted her out by a wide margin.

blue sky said...

Lennon and Yoko are mentioned - she was not well-loved by those around Lennon - obviously. Josh Turner and his wife - well, she is an actual band member from the beginning. Besides, you can compare all the couples you want, but fans spoke and quite obviously did not want his wife on the cover of the album. I'm sure in his head, he thought it was going to be a huge yes from the fans to have her on the cover.

One thing learned for sure from this little experiment on Facebook, over half of his fans don't want his wife in his career! There is no denying that!

Unknown said...

I seriously called this one. I had a feeling that he would do what he wanted, regardless what the people voted on. This pisses me off and really makes me start to believe the rumors... I mean does he not care about what the fans think? It's obvious the solo cover was voted on most. This was a dumb move on his part.

Puddy Tat said...

Oh the deception was deliberate and obvious. In the 1st one that everyone voted on, his name and album title are up almost level with the top of his head where she is in the one actually used and where she has been photoshopped out. In the one used the name and title are furher down level with his ear so that she isn't covered up by the writing. And more of his right arm and therefore the billboard are visible. Also more of his right foot and a little of the left are visible. That all shows that the one put out for voting was cropped and photoshopped all to h and back, then the writing put on both versions later.

Not nice to fool your fans, KU. That will come back to bite you in the butt and wallet later on.

maclen said...

Clearly, this was a "bait and switch"...and I doubt that most of his monkeys will even care. But IT IS a DIFFERENT photo. And laughingly, the facebook commenters still commenting in favor of the SOLO orb pic don't even realize as of a few seconds ago...that the orb has already chosen a different photo than the photo that proved to be the most popular! And will most of his dedicated fansies at facebook and monkeyland rush out and buy the cd anyways? Of course they will, they are obviously hardcore fansies who will bite at anything. But I'm sure the next time orb asks their opinion...some will not bother to offer it. But it seems the orb is a magnet for bonehead gaffes...take this thread from some irate Canadian PAID monkeyland members...

on his solo stuff she wasn't.

What is bothering Keith the most
A. Rumors about his bisexuality?
B. Rumors about a girlfriend?
C. Rumors about the stability and legitimacy of his marriage?
D Just really pissed with the record company so much so he wants to deliver a record that he doesn't like and makes sure that it doesn't sell.
E. Pissed he has had to kiss up to his fans that he doesn't care about at all?
F(fu). All of the above?

I bought the last record. I actually went to a store and bought the CD. With Pain I did get that one for a gift. But I was planning on buying this really was.
Not anymore and have canceled the order I had for more copies.

Bad Bad move Mr.Urban.

Really take a look at this picture. Does the picture really match the title of the album? From what Keith has said about the title of this album, he wants to "get closer" with his wife. Well then, I have to ask, why is Keith on the floor fully dressed with his guitar while his wife is in bed sleeping?

hoosierlady said...

I don't see the wife. It looks like a pillow sham. Am I supposed to be looking somewhere else?

blue sky said...

Welcome aboard Fading Fan. I can't help you out with the supposed recent girlfriend rumors, but if you go back to various gossip sites, for example, dListed, comments made by posters have questioned Keith's sexual gender due to the "monkey" suits and high heels he wears at various red carpet events. Then there have been the hair styles in the past year or so where he looks like a pumpkin head, as well as the limp wrist gestures. He has received many guesses in blind vices that involve a bi-sexual/gay male celebrity. Many speculate this because they believe Kidman was involved in a contract marriage with Cruise to hide gay rumors. The same is now happening to Holmes. This is speculation from the general public - not those who know or follow Keith's career.

Anonymous said...

hoosierlady, look at the person in the bed in the bottom picture. Shes laying on her side. Thats her red hair with her right arm laying against the pillow covering her face and her left shoulder uncovered. Its blurry but you can see her. Right above Keith's name.

Anonymous said...

Let me just add Blue Sky, gay rumors have followed NK throughout her career, not just Cruise.

NK keeps a small circle of people around her to control rumors. Who have you seen her with, other than Keith and co-stars while filming? Only her family. Her employees sign confidentiality agreements so they can't reveal anything about her.

Apparently Keith doesn't do the same as there are people in the know who do talk on occasion. The rumors of a girlfriend for instance.

Well, as I mentioned my first reaction, orb looks like a gigolo sneaking out on his middle aged "joan" still asleep in the bed! Now, I must reiterate...this IS a re-creation of a very "intimate" scene.. no doubt from the actual life of this "real life couple." The SAME couple who have in the past stated that their "relationship" is TOO sacred to even discuss...yet they DISCUSS it in PR junkets! Now, basically they are SO desperate they have now brought an intimate scene...in reinactment...from the "privacy" of their bedroom...(or perhaps is it meant to be a hotel room?)...onto his cd cover to shill his commercial album! So what's next...if the title song from this album...GET! Loser!...is perhaps to be released as a future single...will mutt and jeff put out a reinactment of a "sex video" as the single's video? The intimation of...orb having just "sexed up" mutt on the cover IS clearly veering off into that "bizzare kinky sex" mutt used to try...unsuccessfully...to shill that clunker Nine!

Fading Fan, funny, I don't think hes convincing at all. He over does it and it comes across phoney. And who besides a school boy suffering from puppy love is completely consumed with their mate? This is a middle aged man who we believe has been in love before and never felt the urge to shout it to the world - anytime hes in front of a reporter or a microphone. It couldn't be more obvious that this is all PR and he is required to promote her at every opportunity. Thats my opinion.

mikki, that's what I meant by "Many speculate this because they believe Kidman was involved in a contract marriage with Cruise to hide gay rumors" - both parties are gay.

I support your opinion that he didn't say a word about previous relationships and can't keep his mouth shut in this one. This is not real love in the real sense. If, which I don't believe, he really does love her, he has a screw loose and isn't recovered at all or this is 100% PR, and considering the latest album cover BS, I'm going all the way with PR.

so, just a few Late Night Musings: orb Edition...

...it seems Amazon has a partial listing of songs on the orb's "swan song" Lp...

http://www.amazon.com/Get-Closer-Keith-Urban/dp/B004259BMM

1. Put You In A Song
2. You Gonna Fly
3. All For You
4. Long Hot Summer
5. Without You
6. Georgia Woods
7. Right On Back To You
8. Shut Out The Lights

...and I suspect that the "original titles of those others songs were..."Long Hot Summer, You"..."
You,Georgia Woods" and "Shut out the Lights...you!" Now that is quite some complex "variety" of themes. And for his next "themed" album...he will venture head long into the endless arrays of "WE!"
Now, back on that subject of "swan song LP"...seems there was a commenter over at the E! online forum, "Keith Urban-The Negative Thread..."explaining" the rumor of orb being finished at capnash...

goodread posted...
"Just to clear something up, Capitol Nashville does NOT want to say "goodbye to KU". They want very much for him to resign with them. Keith's at the end of his contract and is now a free agent. He can sign with any record company he chooses and from what I've been reading about it, there's a real bidding war going on."

Well, from what I've been able to find...the hack's friedman's column is the only reference to orb being finished at capnash...so what this commenter is reading of course is NOT mentioned in the posted comment. As to there being a "bidding war" among labels to sign orb, that would surely denote that the orb has been VERY SUCCESSFUL the past few years...therefore warranting that "bidding war." Clearly that has NOT been the case, so that point is rather dubious. The main reason MOST artists leave a label is because they are no longer "selling" product...and are dropped or they simply will not offer the artist the "sweet deal" thay once had at that label. It is relatively rare for artists to "leave" a label to go to a ridiculoulsy HUGE deal at another label. Orb IS CLEARLY not one of those cases! As I've mentioned before...(once again with feeling!)...in 2005 orb sold 4 mil cds...in 2008 he sold 2 mil cds...and now in 2010 the orb has sold 890k cds...THE ORB DID NOT DROP CAPNASH... if that is true...CAPNASH DROPPED ORB. Any word to the contrary is simply PR BS. I;m sure if orb is dumped by capnash...clearly he simply signs with another label...but clearly not for the money or perks he once would have had at capnash a few years ago when he sold cds!

Welcome Fading Fan:

I at first thought Keith had found his true love. After all he really wanted a family until I started reading and hearing things. My suspicions were aroused after "getting engaged" after three mere months of dating. That is not Keith's style and he never offered how he proposed to her because he never did. Keith is the kind of man who kept most of his private life, just that, private. I knew about Laura, I knew about Nikki. But all we knew basically was that he was involved with these women for a long time. Along comes Kidman and this is the woman of his dreams? Baloney. I believe this marriage is for a couple of reasons only. Kidman's FU to Cruise and to prove to the world that somebody else could love and get her with child (I don't believe that one either) and to say that no other woman could march him down the aisle and Keith married her because of her never ending big purse. He could also boast that he bagged an actress even though he would not date one (Keith always had issues as to whether women liked him for him or because he was Keith Urban). Figures he would marry someone exactly the opposite of what he wanted. He also had money issues and Kidman supplies him with everything a boy could possibly want. It is all a sham in my opinion and Keith's decision to have an entirely different cover than the ones he presented to his fans was a huge smack in their faces. Not nice Keith. You really don't want this CD to sell now do ya? Huge mistake.

Now that is a flagrant a PR relationship as mutt and jeff...no doubt. They are just putting TOO much into trying to counter their patented public phoniness!

It is odd that we have never heard about the proposal out of Keith's mouth. We all heard about the proposal to Laura - remember the man that held up the sign outside of the restaurant window? Yes, I'd like to know what charming way Keith proposed to Nicole. Surely, he had to do better than his proposal to Laura since this, after all, was his once in a lifetime love. He tells us that he puts BBQ sauce on his wife, but he has never shared the proposal story.

FadingFan, pay attention to the timing as now her media is only about "NK the moviestar". So, she gets hype in the media at the Toronto film festival. It fades away (quickly). Now she needs her promotional tool (KU) to keep her name in the news. So he makes a big deal about his cover and reveals that shes in the photo. That leads right into today, and a single photo of NK (the moviestar) on JJ and other sites on the set of Trespass. And just so happens on the same day, the "I love my wife" on KU's website. The positive PR she needs to soften her image from ice queen to loving wife and mother. Its PR 101.

Fading Fan said...

Thanks FadingFan. All you need to know about NK is that everything she does is for her career. And she manipulates the media to get the image she wants. For instance, she had said its "family first". She was cutting back on her career. Translation, no film offers coming in. She gets a new manager, and when it was announced that she was doing Trespass and the HBO film, she puts out photo ops of her and Sunday. Proof that shes not putting work before her child. Had photos of Sunday on the set of Just Go With It too. She also counters any bad press. The recent photo of (former cheater) Keith and Amanda on the cover of the National Enquire, and NK does a photo op of her and Keith, the happy couple, on a date night at the movies. Shes actually very transparent and its not difficult to figure out what shes doing and why. Maclen had her figured out long ago, the way she shamelessly uses charities when shes promoting a film. If you see Keith and Sunday as promotional tools its not hard to follow the dots. (Only my opinion of course).

Yeah, I've been commenting on kidman's rather blatant and oh so obvious PR BS for the past 4 and half years now. And seeing her rather pathetic PR over and over and over...again, pathetic is the only word to describe it! Now, as to new commenter, Fading Fan... this is the precise...and currently still "on the fence" orb fan who I am constantly referring to when I'm noting all of orb's rather pathetic PR. 3.1mil FORMER customers have foresaken orb in the past 4 years...and Fading Fan seems to be well on the way to also coming to the same conclusion that his music is no longer worth the 10 bucks that his cd is going for on Amazon.com! ORb is now seeing the results of some pretty shabby PR BS that ruined kidman's career...and I'm coming to the conclusion now that orb just isnt that shrewd to what would keep him successful. Everything he's basically done has been a hindrence...so much in fact...that the few things he MAY do right just dont matter!

maclen said...

So, in this Late Night Musings: orb Edition....

...on the eve of that "orbfest"...the "Benefit for orb"...there seems to be slight confusion over at monkeyland...seems a few monkeys are already using the "solo" orb photoshopped photo #1 that was posted on his facebook page as siggys in the monkeyland forum. Seems either they are unaware that orb seemingly chose a DIFFERENT photo to send to Amazon.com to be used to "pre-order" his new cd...you know, a DIFFERENT photo that shows orb "post-servicing the middle aged redhead in that hotel room"...or they are simply IGNORING that photo! Considering that the new photo has not been announced over at monkeyland...or his facebook page...or even on his twitter page...I'm sure they are in the dark as to whether it IS the pic already chosen for the cd cover! Considering the photo is already being used to sell the cd...I'd wager IT IS the chosen pick. Other confusion involves the 8 song track list listed on the Amazon.com page...they're wondering if that is going to be the ONLY songs on the cd...but didnt he say that there would about 13 songs on the cd? Some think yes...others seem to recall he might of said some songs may not make it onto the cd...but may see the light of day....someday! Yeah, one might think that the "PAYING" members of orb's fansie site would be the first to know these things that they are pondering...especially a product that they...and seemingly...only they will be buying! Just as the griping of orb's Canadian "PAYING" fansite members are doing about not being able to watch the premiere of orb's first single video over in canada...as the "exclusive" rights of the video are with CMT.com...and not at monkeyland...so the canadian "PAYING" fans are NOT ALLOWED to view videos on CMT! Nice play, shakespeare! Certainly gives those currently "PAYING" Canadian members pause about renewing at monkeyland...dont you think? As well as aussie fans...who also cannot watch CMT videos! And how about the PAYING members who couldnt get tickets...not even as "members"...no doubt as they even acknowledge, due to the scalpers and "brokers" to the "Benefit for orb?"
Now, on the eve of that "Benefit for orb"...members not able to go...or more than likely, who COULDNT get tickets...are asking if the show will once again be "live streamed" on the fansie site. Well as of today, there was NO word to whether it would be! Wouldnt that be INTERESTING...if it were NOT telecast on the fansie site, eh?

Keith never felt the need to shout his love from the rooftops. We knew he loved Laura, popped the question and broke up but did we know the particulars? No, he just wrote gut wrenching, heart breaking songs.

I find it odd that Keith would let everyone in on what he would like to do with barbeque sauce and now proclaims that St. Nic was the one that made him brave? I am not buying it, never will.

Another thing that bothers me, if he is so in love with this woman, and she inspires him from here to high heaven, then why is his music the worst it has ever been? My take, you really have to feel it in your heart and really mean what you say or it comes off as phoney and so sickening sweet you can get cavitities. I think Keith is lying to himself and convincing himself very hard that this woman is his soulmate. Fake it till you make it is probably what he learned in "rehab". He traded in one addiction for another and his wife is the enabler and provider. One of these days he will realize that love is not all about boats, trains and planes and/or fancy guitars. It is not all about large tattoos or an actress who is not very good at acting like she cares about him. He will realize too late that what he was looking for was the one he let get away to marry for tabloid fodder. Keith and Sunday are her promotional tools and Ansel was the puppetmaster that got the whole ball of wax rolling. Keith is either beyond the point of caring or too simple to realize he was being used along and just finally resigned himself to the fact that getting out of this right now is not an option. Like I said timing is everything and it is October - key month for everything KUNKVILLE.

LindaMarie, it seems obvious that KU is limited as to what he can write about. Happy, simple, love songs. Nothing that might reflect badly on his marriage.

Do you really think he is miserable in this arrangement? They both step into character in front of the cameras. But life goes on behind the scenes. We see only what they want us to see.

A440 said...

Other bloggers elsewhere have mentioned a statement Keith made basically questioning himself as to how long he was willing to wait to find Ms. Perfect Lover to show up in his life. He likened it to being at a gambling table, and waging bets again and again, hoping for a win. In essence, he said, how long do you go at it? How long do you wait?

The inference being, that he was staring down the barrel at 40 and was getting scared of never moving along in his life.

So here is a wealthy woman, an Oscar winner with still some prospects, who is openly chasing him. And yes, they do have a lot in common: both the same age, both Aussies, both in the arts, both dropped out of school early to go to work, and both determined to make their mark.

No doubt the idea of bagging a rich Oscar winner was flattering to the man who spent his school years being taunted for being short (Shane was called Urban, Keith was called Sub-Urban), and girly. Nailing "Our Nic" would certainly show them what stuff he was made of. It would put to rest all those gay/bi rumors. And it would reduce the amount of slogging he would have to do to become the next Bono or Willie Nelson.

So the question became, why NOT marry her?

Tara said...

Its funny the persons that he talks about a lot are his wife and his father. Perhaps because he has difficult or troubled relationships with them its easy. We never heard about his private life before Kidman.
He never talks about his brother or Mum. He says what is expected and what won't reveal too much.

Lots of happy family pictures today
but he has a big show tonight doesn't he

I have no clue if this is out on youtube or if Oprah has archives, but if you can find the show that Nicole was on promoting "Bewitched" - watch it. This was before the world knew KUNK was dating and before Tom was engaged. I never thought highly of Nicole, and that interview made me lose all respect for her. She caked on her innocence and purity a little bit too much - it reeked of fakeness. After watching the interview, I knew she lived in an imaginery world.

Re: AFTH Livestreamed

"Not everything can be livestreamed you guys. It is a big expense and a lot of manpower for that to happen. Last year was a special treat, its not going to happen all the time."

So it seems the "benefit for orb" WILL NOT BE LIVE STREAMED AT MONKEYLAND THIS YEAR! Boy, what a big SURPRISE...well, not to ME! Last year the day of the "orbfest" I had pointed out how orb was very crassly and very exploitatively...was using the live stream to shill his fansie site merch crap...RIGHT below the video feed, the orb was selling his t-shirts, coffee mugs and most importantly, his cd...defying sales! And ALSO.. along with ORB AND HIS BAND playing the ENTIRE FIRST HOUR of the show...this "so-called" All for the Hall benefit was actually just a HUGE commerical for orb...and HIS "profile". So THIS year, when the "orbfest" was announced...and the performer line up was announced for this years show...I pointed out how many of the elite performers from last year...ie: swify, paisley, lady ant etc... WERE NOT RETURNING this year...I specifically cited these orb "self agrandizing" moves as probable reasons for their no shows this year. Well, clearly the fact that the live feed WILL NOT occur at his fansie site...certainly can be pointed toward MY hypothesis as to why those elite performers were no shows...they refused to be part of a "lets promote the orb" sham! Now, added to all this, the article I posted last night, that the day before the show, THERE WERE STILL TICKETS AVAILABLE TO THE SHOW! And also mentioned in my post...last years show sold out in 20 minutes! And again, as I mentioned a few weeks ago...it seems the absence of...swifty...paisley...bentley et al...has made this years show NOT THE HOT TICKET EVENT it was last year! And all because orb wanted to shill his fansie site crap AND try to sell his poorly selling cd... off the back of the live feed on HIS site. And the "benefit for orb" also didnt get him the "entertainer" a month later at the CMAs...could it possibly get it for him this year after this lackluster "benefit" show? So in another instance, his PAYING monkey members who could not get tickets...will NOT be able to get a live feed to the show...and there goes their monkeyland "orbfest" chat thread! Wow, orb is just one disappointment after the other...in regard to his poor fansies...

maclen said...

...just another point regarding the live feed...the monkey-mod mentions about the live feed...

"It is a big expense and a lot of manpower for that to happen."

...could it be, considering how last years "orbfest" was totally meant to be a huge commercial for orb...it may have been that capnash bankrolled the live feed last year...to try and juice up the anemic sales of defying sales. Since its the rumor that orb is out at capnash...there IS no budget for the live feed? It seems orb's rather pathetic cd sales may have cost the monkeys the live feed...then his desperate shenanigans regarding the orbfest cost him the more elite performers...therefore the anemic ticket sales to this years show! It is true..."what a tangled web you weave...

Tara, its no accident that these photos came out the same day as All for the Hall. Its NK's MO. And notice, she is wearing the same outfit in all the photos but one set of photos are of her and Keith and another set are of her and Sunday (minus daddy Keith). Just the usual self-promotion before his show.

...well, as the "orbfest" kicks off...just a few thoughts. I wonder if anyone who is performing at orb's little PR play...gonna perform with the napalm besides orb? Which performers will consent to be "photographed" at any backstage photo ops with the napalm? Will orb once again...like last year...play the ENTIRE FIRST HOUR of the show...leaving the "Heroes" of the show cooling their heels backstage? Orb lost the elite country stars of last year...he lost the "live stream"... orb will NOT be able to shill his fansie site crap or PR the new single or cd...on HIS site...tonight, unlike last year...monkeyland will be very quiet as, in that Halloween telltale of "NO CANDY HERE"...the lights will be off at monkeyland...as the monkeymod has deleted the "AFTH chat" as the show is not being live streamed. Seems a few more pieces of my puzzle...my on going tapestry of the decline of the orb continues...

...stay tuned...

...so..initial reports on the "BENEFIT for orb"...

http://blogs.tennessean.com/tunein/2010/10/05/co-stars-cheer-keith-urban-at-were-all-for-the-hall/

"Keith Urban kicked off his second annual We're All for the Hall benfit concert for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum Tuesday Night at Bridgestone Arena with a crowd pleasing four-song set..."

...what's that you say? Orb kicked off this "orbfest" with a "four-song set? You mean to tell me he didnt play the ENTIRE FIRST HOUR of the show as he did last year? You dont say!

" Urban and Gill agreed that We're All for the Hall isn't just about the money, or having a good time-they want to raise awareness. Given the sell-out crowd, that accomplishment seems a given."

A given? With word only yesterday that tickets WERE STILL available? Yeah with orb and gill playing up the "it's about awareness" too, I wouldnt be that certain. So last year they raised $500k...if this year they also claim to have raised $500k...you'll know the fix is in!

...now onto initial photos of the special "event"...

http://www.gettyimages.com/Search/Search.aspx?EventId=104187446&EditorialProduct=Entertainment

Hall Benefit Concert - Backstage And Audience

...so, two pics of napalm with orb...two pics of napalm with dolly parton...clearly parton doesnt count, she doesnt have a new cd she is concerned about selling! BUt look, there's martina mcbride and dolly parton together with a daughter and some fans...there's Kevin Cronin, of REO speedwagon and Billy Currington posing together...there's Cronin and Miranda Lambert together...yet another pic of Cronin and Martina McBride (what up? Cronin DIDNT want his pic taken with the napalm?)... a pic of Miranda Lambert and Charley Pride taken together. Again I ask...none of these performers wanted a pic taken with the napalm?

Now onto the show pics...

http://www.gettyimages.com/Search/Search.aspx?EventId=104148734&EditorialProduct=Entertainment

...so, looking through the performance pics...did napalm PLAY SOLO? Were the show photographers told to get photos of napalm ALONE...with no one recognizable in this shots? Look, theres orb with alan jackson, a photo of orb with dolly parton...look there's a wider shot of gill, orb and currington together...gill, orb and mcbribe. But poor ol' napalm... relegated to his own damn self! Now just a side note...it is very ironic, really, that the napalm is wearing a jacket that looks like a life jacket! While orb is once again wearing a bland dark plaid shirt...just as he wore last year! And the most anticipated news...last year at the end of the show, gill looked over at orb and said it was so much fun...why dont they do it again next year? Well, did gill mention that they should do it again next year again? I would doubt it!

And in this "Edition of Late Night Musings: orb Edition...

...I want to go back and look at the new cd coming out in Nov...not the cd cover photo...which I wager if Amazon is using the DIFFERENT... "unphotoshopped" photo...(imagine... a "photoshopped" photo involving mutt)...to sell pre-orders of the cd, its the official cover photo. By the same account, the 8 song tracklist that Amazon has posted for this cd...it must be the FULL list of this cd...why else would they be trying to sell an incomplete tracklisted cd? And if that is the case...then that WOULD be another piece of that puzzle...the "capnash rush released the cd" this year...because A. His previous cd, defying gravity sold so poorly...and B. they were not going to budget the production of the cd for any longer and are... as stated in media...will give it a "striped down" PR campaign. The rumor that orb is out at capnash with this cd is also another relevent piece. Now this VERY short tracklist also fits with my post about a month ago that orb's usual schedule of release for his last 4 released albums each took incrementally...LONGER to be released...with the longest period of release being defying gravity, released 29 months after the Love pain cd...that's 2 yrs 5 mo time! Now, recall orb stated that he started writing and recording GET! Loser! back in Jan of this year...and when it was announced in sept that orbs new cd would come out in NOv...orb also said in sept that he was about "halfway" done with the cd! That's 8 months time to get half done. So now that WOULD help prove that capnash wanted to rush release this cd and get it over with...and the forced release date by capnash only gave orb enough time to finish up 8 songs for this cd! So many things just dont seem to be going very well for orb...as I would say...orb just cant seem to be able to avoid "underachieving"...whether it's the poor cd sales...this year's rather pale imitation of last years "orbfest"...or not getting enough time or money to completley finish his next cd!

10. They should have put a wig on Nicole Mary that more closely resembled her "natural" hair color.

9. His art team could have used cover font that is more in keeping with the century we live in, i.e., the use of the "manual" typewritten 'get closer' What?

8. He could have just picked an album cover himself instead of the hub bub over nothing, i.e. baby girl.

7. They could have explained that the reason for not having the live feed was because there weren't enough performers to justify the expense.

6. They could have been more gracious last year, paving the way for more performers this year.

5. On the heels of scalping his own tickets, he could have waited before offering a prize package to a new recording artist.

4. They could use different platforms for their announcements besides JJ and GG.

3. They could be less obvious with the PR shilling

2. Nicole could take Sunday out other for reasons other than workout time and picking Halloween Costumes.

1. They could take the child with them to pick her pumpkin, and they could go somewhere other than a strip mall to do so. How do you grow pumpkins on concrete?

I'm through.

I believe most of these songs are not written with Baby Girl in mind. One has to have something to be inspired by and like I indicated before if she is his muse then I can see why the music is poor of late. It is also rumored that "Once In a Lifetime" was written well before he and Kidman were an "item". Someone heard that song as a demo the year before he proclaimed Kidman the love of his life.

A440 - If Keith married all the women he professed to be in love with and asked to marry him, he would have been divorced a few times already. He could of married Laura, but he played games on her, he could have married Nikki, again he was a womenizer. So why did he feel pressured into marrying this one? Because Kidman was the one with the biggest purse. He has nothing in common with her other than both being Aussies and they are in the business. Other than that, I think he was happiest and the best musically before money bags got to him. Like I said, she wanted to be the first to walk him down the aisle and he bagged an actress - something for them both to boast about. You are right about the photos - where was Keith at that Target shopping trip where it looks like Miss Sunday Rose was having a tantrum.

Hoosierlady: Grow pumpkins on concrete - I spit out my coffee when I saw that line!

This is absolutely perfect timing. I was listening to a talk radio station this morning, and they were interviewing a well-known celebrity gossip writer. I was filled with joy when he confirmed that the articles you read about sources who see celebrity couples out in public, and they look so happy and in love are spun directly from the celebrity's PR team. He is fed those stories all the time, and they aren't coming from a "source". Now he wasn't talking about any certain couples, but he did use the "happy and in love" term. So folks, those stories we are fed about a source seeing them so happy and in love, and Kidman looking absolutely stunning are 100 percent pure BS!

Yeah, lalaland IS a business of PR...IT IS NOT coincidence that yesterday...the day of his "orbfest"...there was a "mutt and jeff" photo op at the pumpkin patch...which were photos taken days ago...but only released yesterday. Also, news came out from the cma's yesterday of more performers on the awards show...and orb has a spot. Now, the day AFTER the "orbfest"...ANOTHER "mutt and jeff" photo op, picking up the kid at daycare...(and yeah, people ACTUALLY probably beleive they take their kid to that daycare ALL THE TIME, and not just that day for the photo op!) And then you can now add to that the story out today that "orb" was awarded another accolade...

http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118025245.html?categoryId=16&cs=1

BMI London Awards honors song scribes

Yeah "orb" is given an award for a song...co-written by Steve McEwan and John Reid! What an ACCHIEVEMENT! BMI, by the way "collects license fees on behalf of its songwriters, composers and music publishers" so of course they would also want to "publicize" the musicans! See, ALL celebs...music companies...magazines...websites, etc...all want to get the MAXIMUM PR they can...so they all will "leapfrog" each other for that max Pr! It's what they call, "media blizting" Everything is arranged and colluded towards that end... of shilling for EACH other. It happens...and people who dont see that are simply delluding themselves...and celeb fansies, like the monkeys regarding orb...are the classic case of "see no evil...hear no evil...speak no evil.

Did we all see what Kidman wore to the big show last night? Boots and a Sundress- but hell he is in love with her as he shouted out to the crowd while singing the new single.

Put you in a song- much better when Sir Elton and Bernie wrote it originally as Your Song listen to both and see if you agree.

The picture from Monday with the Nanny and Keith trying to connect to the child by waving is just so Kidman- its yuck.
Why? could it be that this is one of the big events that Keith has this year and she needed to be there to show support? nah its a photo op to show how happy they are. Was that because of who was playing in the show and sitting in the audience?

I was at the show. They may have been single seats here and there (like with most shows) but the place was packed all the way up to the rafters. The crowd was so loud and cheering that once after Allison Krause sang, she was so moved by her reception from the audience that she started to cry. I was close enough to see the tears welling up in her eyes.
John Mayer, like all the other peformers played with Keith and Vince Gill and the backing band. During John's first song, Vince Gill took the guitar solo. So they obviously worked it out that he would and Vince didn't have a problem playing with John. There was no acts playing with other acts, so it wasn't a case of no one wanting to play with John. At the end Alan Jackson, Martina McBride, Dolly Parton and (I think Allison Krause) came out and sang a song together with Keith and Vince. No, it didn't include John Mayer but it also didn't include Billy Currington, Charlie Pride or Miranda Lambert. In John's defence, he had just flown in from Milan, Itay late yesterday afternoon. He looked exhausted.
For the record Maclen, Vince Gill again this year said this was fun, let's do it again next year Keith and Keith said yes.
Every act thanked Keith for calling and asking them to play the show and they all seemed to be having themselves a great time last night.
Who do you think was in the audience Tara? I was in the 4th row and anyone that seems to be important in Keith's life right now(minus Kidman)was sitting in the
5th row right behind me.

They weren't at a pumpkin patch they were at Whole Foods, it has a huge display of pumpkins outside. The reporter got it wrong. So basically, they were at the grocery store and bought a pumpkin.

No Shit 123? You never fail to amaze me with your powers of deduction.

It was sarcasm. Dictionary.com explains it as such:

sar·casm  [sahr-kaz-uhm] Show IPA –noun 1. harsh or bitter derision or irony. 2. a sharply ironical taunt; sneering or cutting remark: a review full of sarcasms.

Maybe we had better do irony also.
Irony is defined as such:

Literature . a. a technique of indicating, as through character or plot development, an intention or attitude opposite to that which is actually or ostensibly stated.

The whole stupid thing was meant for entertainment, it wasn't a personal attack, you do not have to defend the plastic people.

For some reason, I can't quite put my finger on it, but you really just drive me INSANE.

HA! So, I notice over at simian world, they have now posted the official cd photo on popup at the homepage...you know... NOT "photoshopped" #1... or #2... that orb's "brain trust" posted on his facebook page for his "followers" to "give their opinions on!" So after almost 22,000 facebook followers voted for the, as it turns out, the "photoshopped" photo #1, of orb BY HIMSELF...orb simply decided to ignore those 22k likes...and just put another completely different photo. And wasnt it nice of orb to...NOT even inform his facebookers that he was gonna put a different photo on the cover! ONe that he intended to put on it ALL ALONG! Sure the simians of the Planet of the Apes" will simply coo..."ohhh I like it better...YUM YUM...orb is "servicing his wife...so SEXXXXY!" But again, how will those 22k facebookites who voted for a SOLO pic feel about it? Sure, the amount who are "turned off" by it who may NOT want to buy it will be fractional...but when orb again has lost 3.1mil customers...these kind of rather amateurish slights and simple inconsiderations could be hugely fatal! So this one of many pretty lame stunts, along with a possible paltry 8 song tracklist of his cd...and what with a crowded CD debutting week...well, I'm not expecting very much to come of it...how will his constantly slighted and IGNORED...declining fanbase react to it?

FadingFan, there has only been one celebrity couple that has admitted to having a PR marriage. That was Sonny and Cher. According to Sonny, if he couldn't make her famous, she would find someone else who would. They were together 11 years, claimed to be married but in fact only married (secretly)toward the end of the relationship fearing the lie would be discovered. In front of the cameras they were a popular, successful couple in love and VERY convincing. Even had a child together. Behind the scenes, she had a boyfriend and a hideaway at the beach, he had a live in girlfriend at the couples mansion. The public never caught on.

It was all PR FadingFan. They stepped right into character whenever the cameras were on them. It wasn't about love, it was all about fame and money.

They didn't tell their story until years later. But it was a real eye opener into a celebrity PR marriage. And these marriages are pretty common in Hollywood.

If you believe Keith is truly in love, thats great! Thats exactly what he wants you to believe. But he hasn't convinced me. No one puts their love on display everytime they open their mouth. Its all phoney in my opinion.

So, what have we here? Seems I have another tidbit...but first let me just review a few DIFFERENCES between LAST YEAR'S "orbfest" and THIS YEAR'S orbfest. Last year orb had the elite of the current country scene...swifty, paisley, lady ant...etc...THIS YEAR they passed on orbs little vanity show...LAST YEAR orb played the entire first hour of the show...THIS YEAR orb only plays a "four-song set"...LAST YEAR orb got the live video feed on his fansie site to shill his crappy merch and cd...THIS YEAR orb couldnt live stream the video of the show on his site...LAST YEAR'S show sold out in the first 20 minutes...THIS YEAR'S show DIDNT SELL OUT...tickets AVAILABLE the day before and clearly the day of the show...LAST YEAR orb DIDNT donate the money he got from reupped or new paid memberships to his fansie site by promising they WOULD be able to get tickets... (NOT TRUE, as many paid monkeys themselves complained they couldnt get tickets)...THIS YEAR the monkey site announced they WOULD be donating the money made from reupped or new paid memberships to the Hall! Now, all these points I have commented on...ad nauseum ...on this blog...and another one, as many may recall, was how cravenly and self opportunistically...orb only last year had CO-OPTED...STOLEN... the whole "ALL for the Hall" thunder from the hard... and for YEARS...working Vince Gill! Well, now here, the orb...having this whole list of issues LINGERING from LAST YEAR...THIS YEAR you can add this little tidbit...another slice of HUMBLE PIE the orb must also choke down...

http://www.countrymusichalloffame.com/keith-urban-friends-we-re-all-for-the-hall

"When bringing out Gill, who initiated the All for the Hall cause, Urban said, "This whole thing got started by this guy."

...so...just add this little tidbit as another feather in my cap! It's good to know that orb's brain trust is keeping abreast of what is going on over here at Urban Myths...and addressing...point by point the orb's rather...how shall I say...MASSIVE FLAWS AND MISCALCULATIONS!! HA!

I'm not understanding the need to defend the plastic people either hoosierlady. I can't believe one would go to Whole Foods while visiting Nashville to check out their pumpkin inventory. I'd prefer sitting in a honky-tonk than a grocery store parking lot. Stalking perhaps?

I think we have made it clear that when you go pumpkin shopping in the fall and you have little kids, you take the kids with to pick them out, or even better yet, take them to some sort of pumpkin/apple farm and make it a family day. This means both parents and no nannies or assistants. They really don't do the family thing, do they? (Remember the fair and countless meals without Sunday Rose?) Oh, and what a nice family outing it would have been to have Isabella and Connor at the AFTH concert the other night. This is one disfunctional family.

Rascal Flatts' new one is being dropped on November 16 also. I wonder who is going to go straight to the top!

As for jerking the fans around, I still say it was a big FU to us. If he wanted his wife's arm or body on the cover then he shouldn't have given the option as to what the cover should have been. He did what he wanted to do anyway. I guess he knows how people feel about her.

I still say this marriage is all PR BS. If you have to convince yourself that hard that you love your wife, then you must think it is not convincingly enough for the fans. This CD will probably sink like a lead balloon. Shame.

Fading Fan, you've come so far so quickly, I'd almost call you a savant, but you show promise in ALL areas!

You have shown ability to reason by being able to correctly identify PR stunts such as the trip to the concrete pumpkin patch.
You have shown fashion taste by correctly identifying KU's need to play "dress up" when escorting his beloved. You have shown depth of character by pointing out inconsistencies in word versus deed, with special emphasis on the ticket scalping, and finally you have shown, what seems to be a stumbling block for so many, the ability to realize that this is just a bunch of crap, start to finish. . . that is to say these two are a "show" in the finest sense of the word.

Again, I congratulate you, and stand in awe of your achievement.
The best, however, is yet to come, as you have not been here for a movie and or album debut, please stay, we have such clean fun! Always remember, they get paid alot of money to put themselves on the public chopping block, and it seems to me that these two have a special fondness for it.

FadingFan, much of this is a carbon copy of the Cruise/Kidman marriage. She went into that as an unknown, and became famous - not because she was a great actress during the marriage, but because of who she was married to. Fame by association. Same formula here. The goal is fame and fortune. She has raised his profile so his name is a household word. By all accounts, hes making plenty of money from his tours, etc. You can't say that she is ruining his career because however hes getting them, hes nominated for awards every year - so hes considered one of country music's bests. He also still wins awards. And (however hes getting them) he still has songs that reach #1. Even Defying Gravity did the first week. Its not about the music. Or the fans. Its all about selling him as a "superstar". And there are plenty of ways to do that without the great music or CD sales (as we see). And NK knows them all. Simply stated, the longer hes with her the more well known he becomes and the wealthier he becomes. Fame and fortune. Thats the bottom line. (Just my opinion). I would never argue with anyone who believes this is true love! I would only ask, if she weren't rich and famous would she still be his "once in a lifetime" love?

1998 at Cumberland for a short time

2006 at Cumberland then whisked to Betty Ford but I don't think he was in for 90 days.

No Kidman showed him what her connections could do (the entire Amanda chapter was to show Keith what bad press he could get) he got with the program and continues to kiss up to her in public- she lets him have a private life and a pretty scandal free career. He tows a line much like Kidman did with her one true love. When its time for her not to need the marriage image he will be cast aside and just like Mr. Cruise professed his undying love at the alter of Nicole, Keith Urban will be a chapter in her history and he will survive just fine.

Really, the feeling is mutual.

Bluesky. I've been to Nashville so many times I've lost count. Even before I knew who Keith Urban was. I've done the honky tonks and the town many, many times. How many times can you do the touristy spots??? This time we decided to stay out in Franklin. We spent our time while in Nashville (other then the show), shopping. If you knew anything about where the Whole Foods is, you would know it's in the middle of a big shopping area. We had lunch there (one day), as I don't have a Whole Foods were I live. The mall there is like going to shopping heaven. My friend and I actually had to buy another piece of luggage to get home all of our shopping. BTW no one is shocked that you would love Hoosierlady. What's that saying, birds of a feather.

Rememberwhen, I didn't see any members of Keith's family at the show. Unless you count Ansel Davis as a family member (I don't but I think KUNK seem to), he and his wife were 5th row center.

ALAN JACKSON’S FIRST AUSTRALIAN TOUR
SELLS OUT IN HOURS -
“FASTEST SELLING COUNTRY MUSIC TOUR IN AUSTRALIAN MUSIC HISTORY”

Overwhelming ticket requests from Aussie country music fans prompts the addition of a fifth show to Jackson’s tour Down Under.

Tickets for Country music artist Alan Jackson’s first ever tour in Australia - scheduled for March of 2011 - sold out within hours of being put on sale Friday morning, Oct. 8 (AEST and AEDT). Ticket sales for the four announced dates - Melbourne (March 4), Sydney (March 7) and Brisbane (March 10 and 11) - sold so quickly that the tour was extended; an additional concert, a third show in Brisbane, has been added to the schedule. Tickets for the newly announced March 12th show in Brisbane go on sale October 14.

“We’re looking at what may be the fastest selling country show or tour in Australian country music history,” said Rob Potts, CEO of Rob Potts Entertainment Edge and co-promoter of the tour. “The excitement level for Alan Jackson’s first tour in our country just can’t be measured. The fans can't believe he's really coming - and ticket sales have proven just how excited they are.”

When reached on his boat about adding another date to the Australian tour, Jackson laughed, “I‘m a Southern man, and that‘s about as far South as we can go – let’s go do it!”

"I've always heard that it's just beautiful down there, and everybody I know that's been there has loved it,” added Jackson. “I’ve heard that the Australian people are really warm and welcome people from the U.S. so generously. That's all I've ever heard - just great things. Great things."

Alan Jackson is one of the most successful and respected songwriter/performers in music, inspiring audiences across several generations with his modern approach to classic country. A 16-time CMA and 16-time ACM Award winner and a GRAMMY winning songwriter/performer, Jackson’s career to date has included sales of more than 50 million albums and 34 #1 hit singles, including ‘Drive’, ‘Chattahoochee’ and ‘Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning)’. On November 22, Jackson will release 34 Number Ones, a career-spanning, double-disc collection featuring all 34 of Jackson’s #1 hits. With 37 songs in all, the project will also include two rare tracks as well as the Zac Brown Band-collaborated hit “As She’s Walking Away.”

I agree with you Tara. NK got her wedding, honeymoon and newlywed photo ops, went back to work and then dropped the dime on the unsuspecting Keith. Shes the one who told the media he had fallen off the wagon - to get control over him. he "surrendered" because he had no choice. Her power in the media could have destroyed his career. And if sources are true, he broke the contract and she took possession of all his assets. She had him over a barrel.

Once those photos of Keith in rehab hit the tabloids, I'm sure he was shown the door. No way would Betty Ford risk their reputation for a celebrity's PR. And by the way Tara, sources say that there have been at least four trips to rehab. One when he was with Niki Taylor.

Have to agree with Maclen, the music matters. CD sales matter. And he won't survive, even with NK's PR machine, without fans. And this domestic image has no appeal which is costing him his fans. He has reduced his career to NK. The music is for her, about her or because of her, and its a total turn off to many. So is the "catchy-beat, ear candy" music hes putting out that he calls love songs. Love songs inspired by who else? I'm going to agree with maclens prediction, this new CD will sell worse than the last. And his career will continue to decline. The hype only works for so long.

Face it monkeys...there are just so many OTHER musicans out there...who sell more cds than orb...outgross orb's live tours...can virtually run rings around orb in the songwriting department...who can out sing...who can out "shred" the orb on guitar. Your simple "adoration" for orb does not by simple implication put him at the top...clearly not in "Country"...certainly not in "Rock"...and pathetically, not even in the "Pop" scene.

maclen said...

...so now...

...as all the "loud" cheers...for Alan Jackson...have faded...and all the obvious lame photo ops litter JJ and GG...NOW comes a string of "bellwether" signals to look to...to see how well the orb may do with his upcoming CD. As I recall last year, after the "orbfest"...it took only a few days for the announcement to come out that the show had raised a whopping $500,000. So when will the announcement come out about how much this years show raised? And, will it end up raising as much or more, or less than last year? That is a "bellwether.
Now, if you take a perusal at orb's facebook page...

http://www.facebook.com/keithurban

...you will see that orb's brain trust has finally informed his facebookites that he has chosen a "different" photo for the cover of his cd...although they rather cynically and disengenuously state that his facebook followers chose the photo! No, his facebook followers voted for photo #1...which was of a "solo" orb sitting next to a guitar and in front of a bed. In fact 22,020 of his facebook followers "liked" pic #1 and 3,389 "commented" on pic #1. Well, now the new pic...I'll call pic #3...is posted and claimed by orb's brain trust to be the pic they VOTED ON! So now, the "bellwether" is...will it get MORE than the 22, 020 "likes" that pic #1 got? If not, then orb, PR wise ...will have chosen the WRONG PIC! Nice play there, shakespeare! And as you see, the video for orb's new single was posted on his Youtube channel the night of the"orbfest"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAO6Ppzoe50

...that's two days ago now...and the total views so far is 5,681 views. The first "bellwether" will be for that...how many views will it get after it's first week? I'll certainly keep my eyes on these "bellwethers"

...you know, I just noticed while I was just persusing youtube...a while ago I had made a list of the most viewed "Official Youtube Channels" of the top elite country stars...and orb came in dead last. Well, what I just noticed is...that the top country stars...swifty, underwood, chesney, paisley...lambert....ALL also have a "VEVO" channel on youtube.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vevo

"Vevo is a music video website. It is a joint venture between Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group, and Abu Dhabi Media with EMI licensing its content to the group without taking an ownership stake. The service was launched officially on 8 December 2009. The videos on Vevo are syndicated to YouTube, with Google and Vevo sharing the advertising revenue.
Vevo offers music videos from three of the 'big four' major record labels: Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, and EMI.

And I noticed that vevo channel videos get 2, 3 and sometimes 4 times the views of videos on a youtube channel. So, swifty, underwood et al, with vevo channels get from the low side of 4 million to upwards of 20 mil and 24mil views, (in the cases of swifty and underwood)...of their music videos! And of course, NOT VERY SURPRISING...the orb DOES NOT HAVE A VEVO CHANNEL ON YOUTUBE. Orb maxs out at about 1.4mil for his highest viewed video! Now, orb's videos DO get virtual air play on CapNash's official youtube channel...where orb's highest viewed video got 1.8mil views. CapNash's youube channel also plays video of their other artists on the label....and amoung the capnash artists...orb ranks at #6 in most video views...behind eric church with 3.5 mil views...trace adkins with 3.2 mil views...luke bryan with 2.5 mil views...lady ant with 2.5 nil views and trace atkins with 1.9 mil views. So here again, a "tangible" reason...just another PR "deficiency" that clearly can be pointed to as to why...the orb is in such decline. He doesnt maximize his PR...nor does he wisely implement the tools that others clearly use to much more successful advantage!

What's also cool about that announcement is that it was released by Robb Potts, once a long time friend/business associate/cheerleader for Team Urban.

Keith had him sacked in 2006 after years of service because he had had the temerity to tell the press that the KUNK wedding he'd just attended was lovely.

Tara, FWIW, there is talk of readmissIons two MORE times, one relapse in 2001 and another sometime when he was with Nikki and entered Cirque Lodge.

Somebody on a previous thread said to go back into Lainie's archives to read up on the UN debacle. I thought that was a great idea, and just last night got to the archive detailing how Keith went to BFC but did not stay the full three months.

LindaMarie said...

Mikki - Tara

Keith went to rehab four times, the last being debatable. He went somewhere, not just sure it was Betty Ford, and he didn't stay for 90 days. Like I said, you can't go to rehab, get tattoos and fly around the world for Christmas holidays to be with Suzy Pigtails. The family visits you. Tara I agree that Kidman calls the shots and continues to do so. She has got something heavy hanging over his head and it is not just his "stuff". I always said Kidman will be his swan song.

Kidman won't be able to help him now. The music is sickening sweet and nobody wants to hear about her anymore. Other people are happily married, some to other famous people. They don't need to shout from the rafters. They know they love each other, no need to convince the world as the world doesn't matters. KUNK try so hard to convince the media that they are a happy family that I think it is them that needs to be reminded.

Fading Fan: Continue towards the light. You will see in time that this all a game. Somebody will lose. I have a feeling who, but I also think it doesn't matter to him right now whether this CD sells or not. The way it is being promoted, the 8 songs, unless two are very, very long and the fake out of the CD cover. Not to mention Rascal Flatts already have a hit with their lead off single off the new CD which drops the same day. Not a good move on Urban's part. Like I have said, timing is everything.

With some very note worthy exceptions I too still like his music and I still go to his shows.

I mentioned the two rehabs as those were the only two that Keith acknowledged and his addiction is a topic that I just don't like talking about.

I do think this is a throw away record by Keith. The Video is cheap and kinda weird if the song is about a woman why show pictures of yourself? And no pictures of the muse to push him on? Plus I do think he ripped off Your Song.

thanks for the link to the show it was just as I expected.

LindaMarie said...

Tara:

I am not making light of his addiction by no means. From someone who was in rehab many moons ago I just question where he was for 90 days and his behavior does not constitute someone who was.

This whole new record thing is weird. I believe you could be right. If he is indeed a free agent perhaps it is now time for him to buckle down and give us some real decent music. I understand being in love you want to write about it but what is coming from him since hooking up with Cornstalk is just pure nonsense. He has never been in a rush to get a video out for his songs, why the rush now? The whole video are just clips from his studio sessions in Monkeyville. Even the CD cover is strange. I get why she is there, buy why sit on the floor, picking your nails if you are all about getting closer to what you wanted for so long. It could have been done differently, tastefully but differently.

The saving grace for most of his subpar music is the fact that they are disguised live. I recently went to his show and like I had indicated a few threads prior, his guitar playing is just facsinating. You forget the song was sappy to begin with because his guitar solos are just flaming.

In time Fading Fan. The ugly truth will reveal itself. Until then just sit back and watch the train wreck. Once again timing is everything.

I don't know, I'm kindof over the whoel wife thing - they're married, this is all par for the course.

Havign said that, I think there was a bit of false advertising with these poll pictures. It’s pretty obviously only the comforter on the bed in the background and cropped head or not, you wouldn’t have missed the person in the bed in the background had she been there in the original poll pics, blurred out or not.

I agree it was deceptive and most likely deliberately but, then, it’s show biz folks.

I do think he looks great in these album cover pics though.

Obviously, the fans orb has remaining have no issue with his being associated with kidman...the most "vocal" at his monkey site believe it is in fact "awesome!" And obviously...if orb had placed photos of say... a dog and a cat on his facebook page and asked his fans to "give him their opinion" which they preferred for the cd cover...and he then simply placed a photo of a horse...the most vocal of his fans would have said..."awesome!" Clearly, my point in bringing all this stuff up is...that it is NOT very shrewd of orb to be continually that..."inconsistant"...it truly begins to "confuse" his remaining fansies! Now I've explained the whole cd cover "bait and switch" to death...but now take the cd track list issue. It is now becoming an issue with a few fansies over how many songs will be on orb's new cd. Now, clearly, my belief IS that the 8 songs listed at Amazon IS the entire song list of the cd. Many of the fansies are "speculating" that maybe the orb will add more songs later. Now again, I cant believe that Amazon.com COULD begin to advertise and take pre-orders on a 8 song cd for $9.98...and then simply ADD more songs to the cd...even if in fact it would be a "better" deal to the buyer...just as they COULDN'T advertise a 20 song cd for $9.98...and then simply remove say, 10 songs and send the buyer a 10 song cd. I think the cd will only have 8 songs. But some of his paid fansie site members ARE becoming "confused" over that! It's NOT very good customer service!

So PYIAS was rumored to be about the unattainable person and ended as a Baby Girl Kidman shout out. Go figure."

Well, F.I.N.E it wasnt a rumor...that came out of orb's mouth. The exact qoute was, “I’ve always loved songs about ‘the guy in love with the unattainable girl’, said Urban of “Put You In A Song. “And the idea that the only chance that this poor guy is ever going to have to get close to the object of his affection is to put her in a song, just struck me."

So, clearly the song IS NOT about mutt...who clearly has orb led around by the ring on his nose! And right there the song loses any resonance to the "middle aged married dude!" That "put a girl in a song to get her attention" is as old as the formation of the beginnings of "ROCK" orb wants to so badly incorporate to his stuff now. You know, from "Peggy Sue" to "Gloria" to "Roxanne"....to "My Sharona!" But that Garbage song is interesting F.I.N.E...how it encompasses your idea of unattainable relationship..when I thought about it...I immediately thought of Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here"....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-QCCz4mtd0E

...an especially telling lyric from this song DID in fact remind me of orb...this lyric...

"Did you exchange
A walk on part in the war,
For a lead role in a cage?"

There are of course many "meanings" of the song...but to me it always spoke of a sadness...of loss...of not being able to come together...

"How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl,
Year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have we found
The same old fears.
Wish you were here."

Now, clearly...THIS IS a "classic 70's" song that orb would definately believe would be a "Country" hit song today. Yes, the song DOES have a country vibe to it...the "tinny" and old fashioned sound at the start. BUt there is no way that orb could ever hope to reach this type of subtleness...the quiet emotion...only slightly building on it's own sense of despair...NO orb's gonna strum that axe ready made for a square dance. He simply wants to get your toes tappping...he simply wants it to be catchy and fluffy enough for the "country chart watch"...all the while his fansie's coo how "dreamy" he looks on the cover...with not a thought of what the lyrics mean...or how they truly speak to something besides his "frosted hightlights!" to wit...

"Another long summer's come and gone
I don't know why it always ends this way
The boardwalk's quiet and the carnival rides
Are as empty as my broken heart tonight"

"I got a job workin at the old park pier
And every summer now for 5 long years
I grease the gears, fix the lights, tighten bolts,
Straighten the tracks
And I count the days til you just might come back"

...yes, well... I'll give orb one thing...those lyrics sure do rhyme ... other than that they don't give me anything more to contemplate!

...speaking of sadness of an "unattainable person"...this post does strike me as pretty sad. I can read the disappointment...and the attempt to "cheer" his/herself up over the fact that there may only be 8 songs. Clearly trying to self justify that what ever they get...they WILL be satisfied! You know..."at least it's NOT just 5 or 6 songs." Added to the disappointment is that a few of these monkeys BELIEVE that orb said that there would at least be 11 songs. NOw I know WHY orb may have once claimed AT LEAST 11 songs...and now why it may only be 8 song...but clearly the monkeys are simply "confused"...they dare not "suspect" as to what may be the reality! Orb himself spelled it out...he only started writing and recording it 10 months ago in January. And he himself claimed last month that he was "about halfway finished"...and then capnash decided to drop the cd in November...and clearly orb COULDNT finish the other half of the cd in 3 months. So I wonder, how long will these monkeys...the last remaining...continue with these "confusing" contradictions...before they simply move on to some other country act? What if it turns out that orb IS out at capnash...and this next cd is a flop...and then what if he CANT land at another label...what if he tries to start his own...but he has troubles with that...and he cant release another cd for over 2 years...or 3 years? His subpar PR will REALLY begin to keep him down.

So I see they are rewriting history again. Remember he said he didn't call her for six months after meeting her. Only reason he did call, was because Ansel told him too. I wonder what he got for delivering Keith to her? Now we have she was unattainable to him and he had to fight for her. What a joke Kidman. No one is going to fight for you.

"So I see they are rewriting history again... Now we have she was unattainable to him and he had to fight for her."

It appears to me he had to clarify or re-write values to align with what he had chosen for his life. It's really a simple concept. The power guru Tony Robbins explains how this can be done. It doesn't surprise me with her father being in the "business" of the mind. Keith's values of yesteryear are not important any longer. There was too much conflict going on. He basically admitted to that when he stated was stalling on the pain CD so he went and got married first. Keith has also said himself the past is not relevant. He basically deleted what was holding him back and focused on what he had.

So in the process, Kidman has become his better life, his better half, his unattainable girl, etc. by design.

He's in dangerous territory as I see it because he only represents everything Baby Girl now. I believe she is a self absorbed control freak. And if he has perfectionist qualities he will never measure up. He will always fall short in her eyes. Not a good combination.

What I find telling is that he's still going on about not wanting to live without her. Possibly not literal but he did make that dedication. So I think the sadness of whatever or whoever is still there under it all, imo.

on a less sad note... i was laughing out loud at this.

just another exercise in re-aligning your values to find happiness.

i can get into pink floyd myself... two souls swimming in a fish bowl year after year... (very sad) i've just got that garbage song replaying in my head right now.

pyias sounds too happy and playful song. it's not a serious love song about someone you cannot have. it's either a futurist dreamy like he is know to write or a forbidden crush type, imo. the only way it could relate to Baby Girl Blue Eyed Kidman is if he wrote it back in the day before he cashed in on her.

I was thinking the CD was being pushed out to the shelves for Christmas. Easy cheap present whether it's really wanted or not. But I've had to re-think that with the comments about his contract ending at Capital.

We know, in 2005, he was literally on fire... He had a wonderful collection of soul bearing songs to market. The public had finally found HIM so could have been a bidding war. He has already maximized the profits from his earlier songs exhausting their shelf life. He has only promoted himself as Baby Girl's husband for the last four years so I see him as a huge financial risk to any company that takes him on.

Mentally he is in dangerous territory. His whole life evolves around someone who he believes saved him from that other life when in fact I think it was her that pushed him over the edge. He can't and will never be able to play in her sandbox. He is a perfectionist and look what is coming out this November. Does he really think this is going to cut it? He was a man on fire and if he left his label back in 2005 there wouldn't have been enough money to keep. He was just on the cusp. Was he looking down the barrel of marriage. Yes, but not by choice. He switched one addiction for another. He will never live p to her standards and her world. If this CD sells anything substantial I will be shocked. He had it all, I would understand that if he wanted to take some time off to spend with the woman he waited forever for I would buy that, but to end up in rehab just a mere three monnths after their fairytale wedding was very telling to me. She will always over shadow him. It will always be about her even though I feel he is lying big time. Keith is in trouble, both mentally and artistically.

Yes, F.I.N.E...the orb's PAYING fansie's have had to "re-align" alot of their own likes regarding the orb. They are simply kept WAY TOO in the dark over what is going on! Now again, take this "scoop" over at the Boot..

http://www.theboot.com/2010/10/11/keith-urban-get-closer-album-cover-track-list/

Keith Urban's 'Get Closer' Cover and Track List Unveiled

"In other Keith news, the track list has also been released for 'Get Closer,' the country superstar's eighth studio album. Only eight songs are listed at present, and there's no word yet on whether any bonus tracks will be added before the CD hits stores on November 12."

...as to no word "on whether any bonus tracks will be added"...one thing is for sure orb's PAYING fansies over at monkeyland WILL NOT receive any word if IT WAS THE CASE! Because even now, there is another new thread over at monkeyland wondering if there will only be 8 songs! Now as to the "VOTED" on cd cover photo...the boot also claims...

"Drum roll, please. The fans have spoken, and this alluring photo of Keith Urban and his beloved guitar is their choice for the singer's 'Get Closer' album cover. Votes were cast via The Boot, Facebook and Twitter to help the guitar slinger decide between this pic and a closeup shot of him in a woman's arms"

...and of course the boot article DOESNT mention the "bait and switch" done on the photos. No mutt in the pic posted on Facebook...now the "chosen" pic HAS mutt! Now, if you notice the posted "CHOSEN" pic on orb's Facebook page...in about 4 days only has 6,489 "likes"...so my only question is, will the "CHOSEN" pic even get as many "likes" as the LOSING photo...which had over 9000 votes!?

Laura anything that he does with his music is always about her. If it can't be about her, then she told him to record it. It has been that way since Pain came out. Everything he does or says is about Baby Girl.

Fading Fan like I told Laura everything is about her. So now he has to fit her in this song. So they will change the story on how they met and he will be the one after him, instead of her running after him. When he wouldn't have anything to do with her, she want to his people. She lined their pockets and they got her Keith signed sealed and deliver on a silver platter.

He is a multi talented man with a gift for creating wonderful songs and music.

I believe those days he had a muse that he cared deeply for and it was working for him.

NK entered and the muse exited here we are garbage, every year it gets worse. I believe since NK does not like country music she has been pushing him to produce what is new rather then what is him. So now she can eat it cause the both of them have slid to the basement in their careers.

Yeah, hoosier..earlier in the thread F.I.N.E just posted his/her MORE favored song on something "unattainable"...and so F.I.N.E posted the youtube video of "You look so Fine" by Garbage...and I posted my video of the same theme...Pink Floyd's "Wish you were here."
It's perfectly clear the reason for orb's decline in the quality...the weight...the substance of his...or more than likely, it is the music of his "co-writers!" And as I call it, the "inconsistancy" of his PR...and of his "image." The orb's stuff...is all bluff...and certainly not "mature" enuff! I agree with F.I.N.E who stated

"pyias sounds too happy and playful song. it's not a serious love song about someone you cannot have...."

..it DOEs sound like just a "subpar" excercise ...and the result is a superficial jingle. I still marvel that it TOOK 3 SONGWRITERS to come up with this single! I get the notion that it was chosen as the first single because it was finished so effortlessly and rather simply. But I dont hold much expectation that the other 7 songs will be anything of any more weight or substance

So if it is the case, I still find it HIGHLY dubious for Amazon.com to be advertising a 8 song cd for presales! Yeah, so the fansie may be treated to 4 more dittys of orb's brand of milquetoast and superficial blandness! Again, clearly orb's brain trust SHOULD have monkeyland fansies on the payroll for all the stuff they feed to each other when it's clear the "machine"is rather behind the curve. But as the monkeymod loves to "reprimand" the PAYING monkeys..."Dont engage in rumor or speculation" Well, if the monkey mod and the brain trust kept the PAYING monkeys up to date on info...and NOT leave the monkeys in a constant state of "confusion"...perhaps they wouldnt engage in "rumor and speculation!" Keith has an inherent conflict on his hands. On the one hand, he wants to be Bono or Willie Nelson. On the other, he insists on writing poppy, lightweight songs that would never be tolerated by either Bono or Nelson. Seems like Keith wants the respect given to a writer who shows real gravitas, but he seems unwilling to do the work. Even tho he's complained about how insubstantial his lyrics are, he keeps writing songs that are no better than Hallmark cards.

And talk about realignment, didn't he say something about how one has to learn to love what you have rather than yearn for what you can't get? Something like that that sounded like resignation.

A440 said...

It looks like Keith is resurrecting older songs to recycle on this album. I just caught up with the track listing. He's got Shut Out the Lights, circa 2005-06, about a big, fat, juicy argument with his partner that remains unresolved for the time being, and Without You, which might be a retread from his 1991 album.

If I'm correct, it shows him dredging the bottom of the barrel. He's been recording for how many months and THIS is the best he can do?

Or maybe he's deliberately giving CapNash the back of his hand...

The logic for the monkey who posted the emi link is...since emi canada IS a record label site...IT MUST BE CORRECT. Again for me...the site actually TAKING MONEY already for the cd WOULD BE privy to the correct and up to date info on this product. If Amazon.com ISNT selling a 8 song cd...I would think they would be open to charges of misleading! For if the 8 track listing turns out to be the case, it HELPS bolster my thought that the orb was SOOOO rushed to release it by capnash...he couldnt finish all the songs. Although my belief that the orb only had 11 months to finish it...and it DOES have 12 songs...and also considering that the orb's cd release prior to this one was after 2 years and 5 months later...the quality of the songs on this cd should be rather pathetic and sloppy! So, we will see...

Yeah, that is interesting Fading Fan...when the release date was announced last month and it would be THIS YEAR and not next year...as per orb's USUAL release schedule...I had speculated that considering the "covers" orb was doing this year...the Rolling Stones cover on jimmy fallon...after the Tennesse flood, orb covered The Beatles' "Help" at the telethon...and again, covering The Beatles' "With a little help from my Friends" at the CMAfest...I had wondered if orb would stuff a few covers on this cd or retreads...as A440 comments..

"It looks like Keith is resurrecting older songs to recycle on this album. I just caught up with the track listing. He's got Shut Out the Lights, circa 2005-06, about a big, fat, juicy argument with his partner that remains unresolved for the time being, and Without You, which might be a retread from his 1991 album."

So we shall see...

Turn out the lights has been around since 05. There is another one that is either a remake of a '91 song or new. And he sells better in Canada.

So what is with all the happy family sightings? Or I should say twitterings why can't anyone use a phone camera to get a shot of them?
So are they plants or not and why so many?

So an update on the "BENEFIT for orb"...

http://www.allaccess.com/net-news/archive/story/82093/we-re-all-for-the-hall-raises-nearly-450k-for-coun

'We're All For The Hall' Raises Nearly $450K For Country Music HOF

Well, just as I surmissed, this year's show WAS NOT the hot ticket event it was last year. I wonder HOW CLOSE did they actually get to "NEARLY $450K? So, $50k short of last year...so I assume the absence of last years elite performers...swifty, paisley, bentley, lady ant et al...DID have an effect on this year's gross. I guess the orb's taking the FIRST FULL HOUR of the show last year for himself and HIS band DID affect this years gross...so he only took half an hour THIS YEAR. I guess the whole "monkeyville scalpers" and "brokers' DID affect the sales of tickets THIS YEAR...so orb announced that this year he would donate his fansie site memberships to the cause! LAST YEAR orb got to broadcast the video live feed on his fansie site...this year he didnt! But I guess it wasnt enough to keep the enthusiam up for the show THIS YEAR ...to make it AS successful as last years. NOw this part of the article makes me laugh...

"The concert took place before a sold-out crowd of 14,000 at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on OCTOBER 5th.

Ha! Funny, last year they claimed the "orbfest" raised $500k to a "SOLD OUT" crowd of 14,000!

http://countrymusichalloffame.org/2009-keith-urban-benefit/

2009 Keith Urban "We're All for the Hall

"Crowned as “one of the greatest open-mike nights ever seen in Nashville” by host Keith Urban, an all-star concert featuring nine top country acts and four hours of non-stop hits drew countless standing ovations from a sold-out crowd of 14,000 at the city’s downtown Sommet Center—"

...yeah that is SOME impeccible accounting of the gross! LAST YEARS 14k sold out crowd raised $500k and THIS YEARS 14K sold out crowd raised $450...well, NEARLY $450?! So, were those special ticket packages priced extra high this year? Lets see, by may calculations...if you use the price of the regular priced tickets at $35...thats about 1450 UNSOLD TICS that would account for the $50k deficit this year over last years! Yeah, I figured they WOULD NEED to engage in a little..."FUZZY MATH" to try and make this year's "orbfest" look decent!

So, here is something...just to give a little example of how "confusing" things CAN become over at monkeyland...and those poor monkeymembers, who seem to be starved for any info. (surprisingly, I am becoming VERY sympathetic to the monkeymembers and what they have to put up with!)... Well, last month this interview was posted on a thread...

http://blogs.mcall.com/lehighvalleymusic/2010/09/keith-urban-talks-about-new-disc-career-future.html

Keith Urban talks about new disc, career future
Sept. 2 2010

...where orb stated...

Q- So are you still writing some songs, or you have the songs written and are just in the studio with them?

Orb- “Yeah, everything’s written. And actually, everything’s recorded. We’re now in the overdub stage.”

...now today, I notice this video blog entry at monkeyland...

http://www.keithurban.net/index.php?page=album_blog&b_id=20641

STUDIO SESSIONS:
FINISHING UP "GEORGIA WOODS"

...which is explained, is of orb recording in the studio last month...which since were about in mid Oct...this session is from MID SEPT. And in the video orb says "we've just finished the song "Georgia woods" and are now going to begin on a new one called "long hot summer" where he states..."WHICH WE HAVENT WRITTEN YET...JUST HAVE ENOUGH OF IT TO PLAY" So, in the interview posted on sept 2, he says EVERYTHING IS WRITTEN AND RECORDED...but in the video posted today... supposedly of recording in mid month sept...the lyric of one song isnt written? Well, I can certainly see why there WOULD be confusion over whether the cd is gonna have more than just 8 songs! So how MANY, you wonder...does orb have to STILL write and record? and recall at this same time period of early sept...he also said that he was just OVER half way through the cd. Makes you wonder which contradicting statements are true...and which aren't true!

maclen said...

...past posting...

...so, another track listing update...here is ANOTHER site claiming that the orb's cd will have 10 songs...

http://www.b93radio.com/blogs/everything-vanessa-b93/

"The track listing for Keith Urban's new album, Get Closer, has been finalized.

Here's the Get Closer track listing:

1) "Put You in a Song"
2) "You Gonna Fly"
3) "All for You"
4) "Long Hot Summer"
5) "Without You"
6) "Georgia Woods"
7) "Right On Back to You"
8) "Shut Out the Lights"
9) "Big Promises"
10) "The Luxury of Knowing"

...so, what is the tracklist? The 8 songs amazon.com is advertising...the 10 this site is claiming...OR the 12 the EMI canada site is showing? Is this new claim of 10 the correct listing? Was orb ONLY able to finish 10 of the 11... or 12... or 13 the monkeys thought orb originally claimed? Is orb still huddled in the studio...STILL writing and recording songs he claimed he had ALREADY finished writing and recorded in early Sept! Yeah, keeping them confused is orb's new mantra! But as I speculated, perhaps capnash rush releasing this cd makes that atmosphere inevitable!

Laughter123 said...

Not sure if I am doing this right...I confirmed with EMI Canada yesterday that there are 12 songs on the new cd....Amazon has it wrong!

"Not sure if I am doing this right...I confirmed with EMI Canada yesterday that there are 12 songs on the new cd....Amazon has it wrong!"

Well, I'm sure that MAY appease a few monkeys...or it may simply confuse them even more! But clearly, the point is the reason there is so much confusion over the simple track listing...is no doubt because orb's "brain trust" to this point has NO IDEA how many songs will be on this cd...hence all the erroneous and conflicting info flooding the nets. Amazon's 8 song listing has gone viral...every radio station website and country music site is citing amazon's 8 song listing...a few are claiming 10 songs...EMI canada 12. Again, considering orb is trying to sell to his fansies...the confusion IS NOT a very effective PR tool!

maclen said...

...so, just one more point on the confusion of the track listing of GET! Loser!...some may wonder on the importance or the relevence of that confusion. Basically, to put my interpretation of that, imagine a country music fan is listening to a country radio station or surfing the net...and hears or reads that orb has an upcoming cd release for Nov 16...and that they can pre-order the cd at Amazon.com. So they go the amazon.com to check it out...AND they see that only 8 songs are listed for the cd...they may actually be put off by that and decide NOT to order it. Sure, apologists may simply say that once the inevitable entire list... whatever it may be.... is posted...maybe a week later...or 2 weeks or even 3 weeks later...they'll be back to order. In orb's case, and recent flacid cd sales history...I know I wouldnt want to take that chance...me...a simple "JAFO"...but I guess orb's "brain trust" is willing to take that chance!
Now onto the "bait and switch" cd cover pic...well, I would certainly say at this point...it is clear that orb's choice for the cover photo is a dismal failure. Beyond the fact IT IS NOT the photo his Facebook followers voted for as their preference for the cover...their votes for orb's 3rd photo clearly shows it is not THEIR choice! A check over at orb's Facebook page shows that orb's 3rd pic posted 6 days ago has gotten only 6,538 likes, with 1,020 comments... while pic #1, the actual photo voted for...has gotten 22,000 likes and 3,397 comments. Now, while pic #1 has been posted 14 days now, I noted one day AFTER Pic #1 was posted, it already had 18,351 likes, and 2 days later had 21,132 likes! So IT IS clear that orb's final choice of the cover pic...IS in fact the LEAST preferred photo among orb's Facebook followers! As photo #2, the photo of a headless mutt behind orb with arm draped over his shoulder... after only one day, got 8,175 likes. So again, just to clarify, just like his cd sales...orb lost 15,000 facebook followers, who "liked" photo #1, and who then DIDNT like the different photo orb chose for the cover! That is simply terrible PR...and just ONE of many!

HA! Very humorous stuff at monkeyland today...

http://www.keithurban.net/forum/index.php?topic=40815.510

...seems tim mcgraw recently dropped a new single for his greatest hits cd coming out in late Nov. The song is called "Felt good on my Lips"...and here are a few comments from some monkeys...

treekabird
"My main station in Indy is not playing PYIAS at all, but I keep hearing Tim's new song! Yuck! Has anyone noticed it sounds like a cross between Video Killed the Radio Star by the Buggles and The Witch Doctor by Alvin and the Chipmunks? I get the Buggles stuck in my head everytime I hear Tim's song! I do like Tim, but this song is the pits!"

shan98429 posted...
"You are right, that is a good way to describe it! It is very weird and I do not care for it. My radio station seems to be playing it a lot though unfortunately! At least as much as PYIAS if not more."

max3348 post...
"First thing that came to my mind was "Three Faces of Eve"!"

Memaw66 posted...
"That is so right Sue Ann, when I first heard it my first thought was mutiple personalities, no constant thread running through that song at all, and so not the kind of song Tim has sung before with all the Beach Boy sounds!!

...Well, it seems Urban Myths IS NOT the only site you can get very SNARKY comments! HA! Wonder if any of these "snarky" commenters have been over here at Urban Myths to condemn us for being SOOOO mean to their precious "keithy?" Apparently, mcgraw is an open target...but orb is off limits! It's one thing to have your opinions...it's another to condemn others theirs...I mean...what are they? Jealous of mcgraw? Dont they have lives? To be razzing mcgraw like that!? I especially took note of the "with all the beach boys sounds" Seems that orb's anemic and bland jingles have his fansies prefering "The Bay City Rollers"... over "The Beach Boys!"

Isn't this whole thing a bait and switch? And since the CD is a product that will be offered for purchase isn't that illegal?

Laughter123 said...

The mystery has been solved...bulletin announced today that Target is selling Keith's cd excusively with 4 extra live songs...it is a deluxe version of the cd...the smaller version will be sold everywhere else...(8 songs)
Hmmm I wonder what version we will get in Canada?
