Keith Urban's PR for his new single via All for the Hall...

Plugging his single via Dolly and Charlie and Alan and Martina, and of course BFF John Mayer... Too bad the only music you can hear is "Putting Baby Girl in a Song 'cause She's Calling All the Shots".

Doesn't matter what he does with this song. It still is horrendous. But I guess that it the only way it might get heard. My station is not playing it at all. I hope they don't.

She still is calling the shots and it won't end until she says so.

Great video and they raised 450k for the Hall.

I do LOVE Nashville.

Get the feeling Keith is so uninspired if this is the best he can do? Willing to be my local radio station won't play it either LindaMarie.

She calls the shots in this game. When he grows a pair he will say it is over but not until then if ever. She isn't done with him. She could drag it out for ten years much like her marriage to Cruise but my guess this act won't survive ten years. Remember she needs an escort for Rabbit Hole in December. Little by little he will get his life back.

Choice: One has to be inspired in order to write great music. My guess, Cornstalks are not inspiring enough which leads me to believe that once again, Urban is a liar. Of course this is the best he can do. One must feel from the heart in order to put down on paper those feelings. If he wants to believe he married the love of his life, let him, because the vast majority doesn't.

They aren't playing the single in my area either. It sucks.

I am surprised we didn't see vampira on the tube blurb but he got Mayer on there and that might matter more.

The amount raised overall was less than last year- charities don't survive that way.

More about what a swell guy Keith is than about the Hall.

Ha! Yes...they raised $450k from a "sold out" crowd of 14k...LAST YEAR they raised $500k from a"sold out" crowd 14k also...so what gives? Did orb decide to take a $50k cut from the gross because he couldn't hawk his fansie site crap with a live video feed of the "orbfest" on his fansie site? Or could it be his "prima donna" behavior LAST YEAR kept the elite performers away? What? The Napalm "charm" couldnt get those bodies to the show!?
Now, as to the video, for some reason, with my ancient computer and OS...I cant watch it yet...will have to wait for it on youtube...but I'm sure I'm missing all the incredible "blandness" of the orb shilling!

...so, some interesting news and an some new info as to the tracklisting of GET! Loser!...

Keith Urban Teams With Target

"The Target version of "Get Closer" includes almost double the material, with four live tracks and three unreleased originals in addition to the album's original eight songs. The three unreleased tracks came from the "Get Closer" recording sessions."

...so again, another piece to the puzzle that points to orb's cd HAVING only 8 songs! Again, I would stand by MY contention that capnash rushed released the orb...to get this cd out and over with...and orb could ONLY get 8 measly songs recorded! Here orb tries to "sugar coat" the measly 8 song cd...

"In some ways it's all just one record but one is a shorter version, while the Target version is the full album," Urban says. "If people get the shorter version and love it, maybe they'll want to hear some more songs and head to Target."

...Ha! yeah the "full album" is simply padded with 4 live recordings...and 3 demos from the GET LOser! recording sessions! You know...songs he COULDNT finish in the 11 months he only had... or they are just a few "covers." So, as far as the monkeys are concerned...an orb "proclaimed" 12 to 13 track album means only 8 original songs...4 live recordings and 3 outtakes. I guess orb learned a lesson last year...when Prince ALMOST outsold orb cd sales...by selling them at Target stores...so orb is just desperate enough to try it himself? Now as to those fansies who were proclaiming that THERE BETTER be MORE than 8 songs on the cd...well, they can simply buy the TRUE 8 measley song cd...if not, they have to buy the MORE EXPENSIVE cd DELUXE version at Target! Way to once again play your fansies orb...and gouge them out of more money...for LESS QUALITY! HA!

LindaMarie said...

Well isn't that a fine how do you do?! He is going to sell this thing one way or another but how fair is that for his fans? Will he have the same version for his Monkeys or do they have to shell out more buckage for live versions? I am telling you, this whole charade is a big FU to all.

maclen said...

..past posted...

...so, you see the pattern once again...just as in the "bait and switch" cd cover pic...orb offering one thing...then giving something else. So, as my "deduction" clicked on...(it's all elementary, of course)...Amazon WOULD NOT advertise an 8 song cd for sale for $9.98 ...and then simply add songs...so, all the erroneous track listings coming out WERE from simple confusion. But in the end...orb has produced an 8 song cd! Orb simply informed his fansies via their "web chats" or whatever they call it...that the cd would have about 12 or 13 songs...well, apparently that is WRONG...the actual cd will only have 8 tracks for $9.98 plus tax...and the "deluxe" version will simply have a "padded" 15 tracks...which they CAN have... IF they shell out another 4 bucks...for 14 bucks plus tax! Orb's "reasoning" as to having a deluxe version sold at target is pretty inane...people who "BUY" the short version for 10 bucks...and like it...can then buy the deluxe version for the remaining 7 tracks? Yeah, sounds "logical" enough...PAY 14 BUCKS FOR THE OTHER 7 TRACKS ON THE DELUXE CD...AFTER ONLY PAYING 10 BUCKS FOR THE 8 TRACK short CD!? My mind just boggles at the crass exploitative tendency towards his fansies and the hackery of the orb!

Yes, LindaMarie...Imagine ALL those monkeys who have ALREADY pre-ordered the cd at Amazon.com...believing as the orb had said there would be about 12 or 13 tracks...and expecting that more tracks would be added...now learn that in order to get the other 7 tracks they'll have to shell out another 14 bucks at Target! Oh boy...orb knows how to play his poor fansies!

...So, in tonight's episode of "Insomniac Theater 3000: orb edition"..

...just a few observations...was perusing the nets...after the annoucement that orb would be releasing a "deluxe" version of his anemic 8 song cd...exclusively at Target...my immediate reaction was to think of last year and orb's very close battle of cd sales with Prince's "exclusively sold at Target stores only" cd...well I just noticed this little tidbit...

http://www.rttnews.com/Content/EntertainmentNews.aspx?Section=2&Id=1445646&SM=1

Keith Urban To Release Deluxe Get Closer At Target

"Urban is the latest in a string of artists putting out special Target versions of their albums. Taylor Swift's upcoming Speak Now is also set to have an expanded version sold at the retailer.

...ha! Yes...and the "child shall lead"...and the struggling hacks will follow!

Anyone notice the two recent polls here at Urban Myths? The previous poll..."Which CD Cover?"...an overwhelming majority of no doubt orb fansies voted 65 votes for "Keith"...you know the pic of orb BY HIMSELF! With only 12 votes for mutt AND jeff and 19 votes for "None of the above"...and then look at the most recent poll..."Will you buy 'Get Closer'?"...the fansies voted 43 votes "Of course!" So basically, even the fansies who come to this site to defend orb and vote at the polls here...22 of those fansies who voted for the "sit alone" pic...apparently ARE NOT going to buy GET! Loser! HAHA! Yes, strike another one off for the "PR savant" orb!

So, as I mentioned earlier this year...when the orb went "highly visible" with the covers...or as I called it...orb's PLUNDERING of 60's and 70's classic rock in a feeble attempt to give him some "cross over cred"...he's covered the Stones and the Beatles...to dusty springfield! Well, I just noticed over at monkeyland, a video of orb covering springsteen's "I'm on Fire"...at of all places, the gig with his BFF napalm! And I'm also hearing of a possible Santana cover on the new cd...probably the "padded" cd...then most recently, orb crashed a gig with rucker...you know...rucker of Hootie and the Blowfish fame...that's Hootie "16 mil sales of Cracked Rear View cd" and the Blowfish...and orb did a cover of Steve Miller Band's "The Joker" No matter how many covers of classic "rocker" staples orb attempts to mangle...he will never get that cred! For I also read... one of the songs on the new cd was co-written with Richard Marx...you know...Marx...the "shawn cassidy" of the 80's! So unfortunately for the orb..he already has that "bubble gum pop" stamped on his forehead...right below those "frosted highlights!

He has written with Marx before. Better Life was co written by Marx
and Marx was brought in when Defying Gravity was being recorded to write but nothing was used. I wonder if the song by Marx was another old one dug up for this record?

So he has got in bed with Target. Not surprised that the recent photo op in Nashville with wife and child were taken at Target on their private property parking lot.
And no he isn't the first singer to do this. Tay Tay Swift did it for the last record. Interesting the last time I was at Target I noticed Defying Gravity marked down to $6.99.

What the gang at Camp Urban has done is going back to the old days when Keith had a following that would buy 3 and 4 copies of his old records. Only they know those folks aren't around anymore so they put out a pre release Amazon blurb create an interest then announce the Target thing so now the devotes will have to buy 2 copies. Oh well so they sell six copies instead of three.

Boy, Rebecca...you certainly have a firm and unshakable grasp on...the obvious! CLEARLY orb IS IN the money making business...it surely aint in making quality music...and certainly not in the adequate publicizing of that pretty mediocre product! Your own rather "insubstantial" posting here may give people pause to believe you are even a part of that "business juggernaut'...orb's "brain trust!" You obviously have no qualms over how any business MAKES their $$$$$$. Hey, corporate execs give themselves multimillion dollar bonus' while they bankrupt the company, causing ALL other employees to lose their pensions...that just business...they grant themselves multi-million dollar bonus' right after voting to layoff 10, 15 or 20% of their workforce...and obviously you have NO qualms over orb...no doubt recently "counseled" by the crass exploiter of sick children at the Sydney's Children Hospital to simply shill her films...gouging his fansies of every buck he can, what with the "orbfest" scalping scheme and this "Im giving you a 12 track cd" in a "chat" to his fansies on his site...and scamming them with a paltry 8 track cd being hawked at amazon.com at only $9.98 for the first few weeks...with the fansie's clearly "confused" into believing there likly will be MORE tracks added...only to later hear that they WILL get more tracks...it they pay EVEN more $$$$$ for a COMPLETELY different cd at Target! Yeah, the clearly clueless fansies will bite...and get hooked...but that DOESNT mean that the orb ISNT one miserable douche for actually scamming his deluded fansies...or more to the point...the fansies he HAS LEFT! So no Rebecca, its NOT that simple...only your comments here are simple!

LindaMarie said...

Rebecca:

I know it is called marketing but it is a shame that a few fans will dish out some serious cash for a CD that hints at the same stuff from the prior two.

Urban said he didn't care how we got his music. Thank Got for I-Tunes because if there is anything substantial on this effort I can download.

maclen said...

...so...go, right now...to monkeyland. And on the home page...you WILL NOT find ANY info...NOTHING...regarding orb's new cd! Dig into all the site links...news..media...etc...and you WILL STILL NOT find any info on the new cd. The only place you'll find any info on the new cd is at the message boards...and it's all the PAYING members who are providing each other with info about the new cd. And as I've been highlighting the monkeys comments over here at UM the past week or so... and of their "confusion" over the new cd...their questions of whether the paltry 8 track cd listed at Amazon.com WAS actually the true tracklisting...or whether...as they were led to believe from orb himself...that there would be at least 12 or 13 tracks to the cd...NOT ONCE did the monkeymod bother to chip in info on the message board about that. When monkeymembers were posting the differnt web sites articles of tracklistings of the cd...one had 10 tracks...another from EMI canada showed 12 tracks total...NOT ONCE did the monkeymod bother to post any info on that point to clear up the confusion. And the "rumor and speculation" on the tracklisting continued...WITHOUT a typical monkeymod reprimand to not "post articles engaging in rumor or speculation!" Then yesterday when the annoucement came from Billboard that Target would be selling a exclusive "deluxe" cd of "8 original songs, 4 live tracks and 3 outtakes" did the monkeymembers FINALLY realize that the weeks old posting of a paltry 8 track cd ready for presale at Amazon WAS the official cd! And of course, it was the PAYING monkeymembers who posted and informed other monkeymembers to that fact! It surely WAS NOT the monkeymods...and surely NOT the ORB... ...who STILL HASNT given them any of that info on the monkeysite! And as the orb himself was quoted in that Target announcement...the monkeys who buy the paltry 8 track cd...but who also want the bonus tracks...can jsut go to Target...AND BUY the other cd! The reason THERE IS NO INFO regarding the new cd at monkeyland...is because they WANTED the monkeys to be IGNORANT of what the tracklisting of the cd would be...so that MORE OF THEM would be snared into first ordering the paltry 8 track cd at Amazon.com due to their "confusion" that it was the only option...and then announcing the OTHER cd sold at Target with "bonus tracks"...hoodwinking them into buying ANOTHER...slightly more expensive cd! Again, calculatingly and remorselessly conniving...but none the less reptilian and slimey! Yes, Rebecca simply calls it..."marketing"...and "it's that simple!" HA!

You're right Fading Fan, any monkey falling for the scam only have themselves to blame...just as those who railed at not being able to get tickets to the "orbfest" and blaming the "brokers"...but then giving in..and buying from brokers! But, as I mentioned before...having been reading the monkey's comments on the monkeyland scalping and the confusion over the cd tracklisting...I DID begin to feel symapathetic for those unfortunate monkeymembers! And I would hope, as you claimed Fading Fan, that those monkeys most assuredly becoming disenfranchised with their membership over at monkeyland...would come over here and just read all the illuminating points we are bringing up...and finally getting wise to the orb's rather shabby "marketing!"

Maybe some of you here should get a clue and realize that when you pre-order cds from Amazon you can cancel anytime before it's released. Your credit card isn't charged until the item ships.

This blog has no connection to the real world. Sad.

I think the point here is, after a couple of cycles watching this stuff, that orb and company banks on the fansies flocking with card in hand to buy it before they hear the "deeluxe version" is available elsewhere. We saw this with 4 and 2/3 Kids, remember? It was released as 4 and 2/3 Kids, and it wasn't 3 months and it was re-released as 6.312 kids. I remember this from work, I wondered then how many other albums had been released that way?
People buy this and pad that pocket twice.

Newsflash. . . the majority of the public are not very bright. I'm sorry to have to break it to you guys that way, but there isn't a nice way to say it. Most of the public will either forget they own the first one, or think the second one is different because of the different title, or most pathetic of them all, (imo) will buy the second release because of the "chance to meet" or the "bonus" offer.

Yes it is called Marketing, but companies are supposed to have mission statements, or corporate statements that spell out their commitments to their stakeholders, customers, and workers. Most of these statements also contain rules of ETHICS where things such as fraud, false advertising, and service to the client are addressed.
I think service to the client, in this case service to his monkeyfansies, has been, once again, thrown to the wolves.

All of us here can see what happens to these consumers over and over again. It is a shame that these consumers do not see, or refuse to see, they are being taken advantage of, for the almighty dollar.

Has anyone read Misery by Stephen King? She was his "number one fan". Every time I read that I think of that book. Shivers.

And Keith Urban is the only artist to ever do this??? This isn't new. This business is all about getting fans of an artist to part with their money but because it's Keith Urban doing it, then it's wrong. Most fans of an artist want to have their new music the day it comes out. Not just Keith's fans. Go to any fan site of an artist about to put out new music and the fans are eagerly awaiting the day the new music comes out. They to would buy inadvance the new CD if it was on Amazon. Personally, I don't like to buy my music that way. I actually like going into a store to buy it. Get it in my hand, so I'll be getting the Target version. The thing is even if this cd had been announced that it would only have 8 songs on it and the one at Target would have more there would still be fans that would buy both. There are music fans that have to have it all for their collections. I used to be like that with Bon Jovi and Duran Duran. Who did this sort of thing all the time. Different covers for different countries (but the same songs). Or added songs on one version over another. It's nothing new. It's always the same crap, different day around here. Keith gets crusified for doing what other artists do and have done.

You have a choice when you buy anything Fadingfan. No one has a gun to anyones head. I'm not whinning about anything just stating the facts. I don't know how long you were a fan of Keith's but his fan club has NEVER been the place to get the most up to date info on him. All of his fans know that. They act shocked when they get info from other sources first but they all know the deal. People continue to be members for 1reason, that slim chance that they will get a meet and great. That's the bottomline. It's just like the pre-sales everyone knows you don't get good seats from his fan club but there is always that hope that this time it will be different. It never is but people still join and rejoin year after year. No one is doing this blindly. They all know it. So don't say that Keith cared back in the day and now it's somehow different because this is how his fan club has always done business. Funny thing is Keith is actually more involved now with his fan club then he ever was in the past. Probably because he has to be to complete with other artists that are super involved in their clubs. I don't think Keith cares anymore or less then he did in the past.

LindaMarie, I agree with you. I think since the rehab incident Keith is totally into the game and getting just what he wants out of it. This is all done by design. Hes goals were fame and fortune. Hes getting that from his association with her. Her goals were to heighten her profile and increase her media coverage. She has gotten that. Its right out of the Cruise/Kidman playbook, in my opinion.

Nothing happens in this marriage by chance. It is all by design as you say. Keith had no choice since rehab to jump into the game. This marriage serves a purpose and one purpose only. However the purpose of this union has fallen by the wayside. He has the fame and fortune even though his fame is his association through her and his fortune is mostly through her. She has increased her media profile, but it has not been good and a lot of people are not buying the truly loved up couple crap. The Aussie Power Couple has fallen into a hole along with that epic.

It is the same marriage only this time Kidman is in the role of Cruise and Urban will be dumped just like she was. Again, it is all in the timing. If we post it, they will follw....

LindaMarie, I agree with what you say. Keith had no choice but to get into the game. She held all the cards at that point.

NK came out of the Cruise marriage with fame and wealth - not for a string of great films, but because she was his wife for 10 years. Fame by association. Thats all she needed to start out on her own at the top of the heap. And it seems that she has convinced Keith that she can do the same for him. Why else would he promote her at every opportunity?

NK is no Tom Cruise and has made many mistakes in trying to recreate a PR marriage. This union has run its course and the interest has faded away. They've actually become quite boring. All this (phoney) devotion coming from Keith does nothing but make him look foolish in my opinion. He won't come out of this on top the way NK did.

Yes MIKKI, that is exactly what it is, boring. Everytime KU opens his mouth with his canned adoration over and over again you can actually repeat it word for word. Don't you think it odd he is putting all that out and she is shutting up? During Australia it was she who did all the spewing!!
