A Chunk of the Truth about the Kidman/Urban Illusion

Some folks took the time to point out recently to one of the many responders to this blog the truth about this fantasy trip we are on with Keith Urban. Namely, that it is a fantasy. Most of us have our feet firmly planted on the ground. But there are a few who seem to be out in the nether regions and are lost. I am not talking about those who are warped or possibly ill. You know them. They are the ones that have a "personal" relationship with Keith because he squeezed their butt at a meet and greet, or he smiled at them on stage. I am not even talking about those very sad souls who believe they are married to him and have children with him and who stalk him. No, my concern is with, and the reason I write is, the woman or man who thinks that everything written about Keith and that wife of his is gospel.

You see this blind following particularly with her fans. There is one particular fan site that is so funny on the surface but after reading it for awhile you realize how sad it is. These people are living their lives through Nicole Kidman. Each new movie, each new article or interview, and it’s as if Kidman had spoken just to them. The sad part is that this isn't just a few but many people who feel the same way.

Sorry to blow this up for all of you living in the illusion, but Nicole Kidman doesn't care about you or your opinions. She hires bodyguards to protect herself from you and the only thing she wants is your money.

As for Keith, musicians are different. Of course, he is there to get adulation, that’s part of it. He goes out into the crowds - he is live. It is very “in the moment”, and a musician is playing to whatever is inside of the listener. Keith Urban doesn't know what you desire but perhaps something he is playing is touching you and affecting you. That is very intimate and dangerous. He isn't really asking you to come along as much as he is playing and it is touching you. Then you tell others and then it builds a following. That, my readers, is the power of music and when you are skilled as Keith you don't need to manipulate anyone.

Yet, we are all as good as the company we keep, and since 2005 things have changed a bit.

There has always been some speculation about plants from Camp Urban on fan sites. There are certain people who lead discussions toward a specific topic or away from others. There are also believed to be insiders who plant information in bits and pieces to create a demand for a show or CD or boost the ratings of a program that Keith will be on. I am fine with that. Tell me, “the fan” what is coming up. I always thought it was weird that a machinist and a beautician were able to go to all these shows all over the world and have inside information about tour dates months in advance, and yet post about how wonderful Keith and the wife are, as if they were normal fans? What I don't like is that there are now plants that seem to be having fan experiences to counter that which many of us know isn't true. They are creating a myth.

One thing about cruising all the fan sites is that not everyone has a great time. Not everything is hunky dory. A fan review generally is honest about the show. What has been appearing on some Keith sites is eyewitness reports of how wonderful everything is; how great the shows are; how they are filled to the rafters and sold out, and the thing that bugs me most -- that Keith is personally happy and well.

There is one poster who was at many of the shows writing glowing reviews. I am not talking about Green Bay or DC. I am talking about Australia and England and the US. This person even talked to Keith the day that he had the flu and had to say goodbye - perhaps forever - to Europe. What made this observer interested was that this poster happened to be in China when Keith and Kidman were there in 06. Happened to be? No, my readers, this person is paid to plant “all is well” hooey on Keith Urban fan sites.

And who pays her? Most investigations put this not at the feet of Camp Urban, but in the wacky manipulation superhighway created by Nicole Kidman and those she hires to protect her fame.

I am sure Kidman is not the only one that does this, but it’s painfully obvious that she doesn't get the world that Keith inhabits. For example, that shot of them at the 2006 Grammy’s with Keith dressed as Keith and in his element and Kidman dressed like what Vogue magazine would expect a rock and roll girlfriend to look like. She was out of place and she hasn't learned.

She is a shrewd manipulator of image but she hasn't figured out that what Keith does is touch your heart. He plays to your emotions. I guess you have to have some kind of emotional balance to understand this. It's why no one cares when she is at a show.

It’s not about her. It's about what we are getting that Keith is giving us. Keith's audience isn't that stupid. Some are a bit naive but so many are not. They can see his face and hear his voice and that’s when we understand. Plant all the glowing folks you want Kidman, we can pick them out and pick them apart. Going to see Keith has never been about you, your marriage or your drama, it’s about seeing one of the most talented musicians performing today reaching people through his art. Take some notes or just leave quietly…you won't be missed.

Great, as usual! As for the final comment...I personally vote for the "leave quietly".

Also, I think a "fan" of Keith's would be able to see by the lack of "spark" in his eyes that he's not as happy as the camps (you choose which one) would want the "fans" to believe.

I just hope the madness that is their marriage ends soon...and the REAL Keith Urban will come back!

How can people say he looks happy? He looks happy when he is on stage but that's the only time.Every picture I see of him and the sea hag he looks totally miserable. His eyes look dead and he looks like he can't stand being with her. They are the most mismatched looking couple around.I think the only reason they lasted this long was the fact that he spent 3 months in rehab instead of being stuck with her.I wish he would dump her bony ass and get back to the music.

i think part of it is he's too dang stubborn to dump her......he'll show the naysayers. is it worth it keith? being so miserable?

I have to also agree with the final paragraph of this blog. I love the performer Keith Urban, the musician that can make moments stand still, create memories that are indelible.

I've heard it all now! Your blog was truly priceless humor!!

It truly takes an absolutely juvenile naivete of the teenybopper mentality, with room filled with stuffed animal unicorns, precious moments posters and the stack of teenbeat magazines with the grinning posturing of zac efron and vanessa anne hudgens... to actually believe this marriage is anything but a weak and sorry excuse of a publicity failure. The stench of your typically textbook and cliched showbiz marriage, which I have no doubt will end up with the typically textbook and cliched showbiz divorce, followed by the mandatory, "we just grew apart because we never got to see each other."

... oh yes, back to my originally intended comment... which fittingly, pertains somewhat to my previous comment. Interesting, that even here at Urban Myths blog, we've probably seen a few of these "plants' or as i've called them before, "drive by commenters". Iritating as they are, they are in the end, pretty insignificant and not substantial at all. And as Ive noticed myself on other forums and message boards, these payed shills only aid in killing those fansites, with their constant posting of every article or picture or celeb announcement, that anyone can find for themselves, in mind numbing regularity, it kills the dicussion and free thought about the celebs on the site. 'They come to reflect the unimaginative and uncreative atmosphere of the dull and uninteresting celebs they're trying to build the fanbase for in the first place.

Geez, you really need to get a boyfriend or girlfriend for that matter!!

Well, I guess, wtc, Ill have to reduce myself to a level you can understand...."That's so funny, I forgot to laugh... I know you are but what am I?"... Is that better for you? Spare me waste of your limited thoughts and comments.

well doublewide, occasionally I'll get sidetracked from the main point, you know... hoping there would be just a little more effort put into the counterpoint of the disagreeing voice, you know? Beyond the usual, "and so's yer mother!"....cause....."skool wuz kool!, and debate is great, but discussion is like percussion... you should try and keep up with the beat.

It's great to put things out there, but at the same time it gives the nutty fans way too much credit!

The couple in question are nothing more than fanatics. They don't know a damn thing. They just have too much time on their hands to try and guess at stalking Keiths schedule.

Thats like her saying she's a "stylist" not a beautician HA!!

I guess because they live in California that sounds more fashionable. But, there is a huge difference between a "stylist" and a hair dresser. A stylist would know how to look and dress themselves and their husbands first.

And he's just a creepy, self consumed know-it-all, or rather who thinks he knows it all. But, whatever floats their canoe.

The nutters also give way too much credit to the skeptics in having a hand in these blogs.

The amazing thing about reading public posting areas is just how much information people actually get wrong and spread it as if they knew what they were talking about.

Not that any skeptic cares what they say, but if they can't even get it correct about who writes these blogs, how could they possibly have the intelligence to get away with being a "plant"!!

And by giving them so much credit, all your doing is encouraging them to babble on endlessly, as if people aren't nauseated by them enough already.

Great Blog!
I have to agree with the final paragraph as well-"leave quitely." Actually I don't care if she leaves quietly or not just as long as she leaves.

He's not happy and if NK were ever to look in the mirror, she'd see that she's not happy either regardless of what is printed or said on any site.

maclen-love your observations about the drive by commentators. You can always tell them by the personal attacks. They make it so easy.

The machinast & stylist are not plants. They are a childless couple with a lot of money, travel saavy, own their own businesses which allow them the opportunity to take off whenever they want and have managed to ingratiate themselves with some people in Keith's crew. Sounds like our blogger is a bit jealous of their escapades if you ask me. These two people have made friends round-the-world. Lucky them is what I say! Oh, and btw - these two are not always on the gushing side. When things are not right, they speak up. So your "plant" idea just doesn't hold water.

The conspiracy theory of "paid" plants on message boards is nothing less than preposterous. Foundation? Proof? Doubtful. Another one of the skeptics ruses to keep their own house a chattering away, especially since there's no news right now with Keithy-pooh on hiatus (oops, movie term - my bad!) from touring.

Every star has their own set of fanatical fans, we all know who Keith has, and now we are finding out who NK has. Meisha for one - who has traveled the world following NK and getting great pic's of her and providing countless hours of journals to read. This gal must be independently wealthy and a borderline stalker if you ask me. If she's paid by NK's team to do this stuff, that's pretty scary because there are others who would want to emulate that. Why set the tone for stalking? See why that scenario is preposterous?

This is one of the lessor blogs if you ask me. Sorry. Had really hoped to see something about Bella & Condom at Scientology camp.... at least that would've been funny!

maybe the blogger has more class than to make fun of 2 innocent children.....so this blog doesn't meet your lofty expectations huh? well sometimes the truth isn't funny.

yeah, banbotox, oh so easy to spot the lurkers, hit and run opiners, paid shills, plants...call them whatever you like...but still you see alot of the nonsense, none the less... and comically irritating.

"Sounds like our blogger is a bit jealous of their escapades if you ask me."
...So, got envy, much?

"Foundation? Proof? Doubtful."

one of my all time favs... First, try offering your own foundation, proof, over an online blog for your statements, or your identity?...before asking and, for some ridiculous reason, expecting any.

"This is one of the lessor blogs if you ask me. Sorry."

I assume thats IYHO? Then I'll just asume, in YHO, that would make you a "lesser commenter?" cause it really negates anything you try to get across...IMHO.

ROFL maclen.....just sitting here munchin on cheetohs and drinkin some big red soda, waiting for you to put this person in his/her place. you did not disappoint!

Actually it make sense. If you're going to have a stalker anyway-pay her and get the message and pictures out that YOU want to have out there. And you can send that person to follow your cheating husband, get photos to make sure he is where he should be. That way you don't have to waste a moment of your precious time on keeping his leash pulled tight. It's the perfect scenario.

maclen said...

Hey doublewide, just wondering, you ever tried those super red hot cheetos? My nephew and nieces love those things...

Right, so the paparratzis are not stalkers, because theyre doing it for money, but someone who is following celebs around, to get pictures for "journals"..must be independantly wealthy, and therefore a stalker... hard to follow that logic... not without foundation... proof...

banbotox said:
"Actually it make sense. If you're going to have a stalker anyway-pay her and get the message and pictures out that YOU want to have out there."

Now i think your on to something bantotox... celebs make money, papparatz make money, the only main sticking point to all this discussion is clearly, as you point out,... control.
Media want access...celebs want publicity, but on their terms, to their advantage, so all sorts of unending and distorted alliances are forged. Not too hard to imagine.

maclen said...

...again, not to hard to imagine, take this story as case in point...

So I'm just browsing the net, on a lazy sunday, a lazy labor day weekend... browsing a couple of movie sites i check out occasionally, maybe a movies out i might want to check out... and I see this film festival story, which is titled:
"Nicole Kidman movie a festival hit"...
and I'm intrigued, because, could it actually be true that a kidman movie is an actual hit? So when i start to read the article, the very first sentence is...."A NEW Nicole Kidman movie will be among films showcased this week at the Telluride Film Festival in Colorado." Her film WILL be among others?... you mean its not a hit yet, as implied in the title? So when i check the website of this story, its the Herald Sun..."Australias biggest-selling daily newspaper". So why would an australian paper try to imply something that in their own words, has not even happened yet? that her movie is a hit? Everybody in media, business, politics have their own bias, there apparent agendas and self interest reasons for what they may write...and some papparatz, tabloids and even fansites may even have agendas that are not up front, what they appear to be.

doublewide said...

nah doublewide, never tried the red hot cheetohs......i don't really eat them that much, i just say that for humor's sake. don't know if you were around when somebody posted something like "why don't you skeptics mosey on back to your doublewides blah blah"....i'd have to dig it up. so hence my name. they think if we like country music that we all live in trailers.

oh, and back to the subject at hand. well, well, well, an austrailian newspaper says she has a hit on her hands. imagine that

now, i may just have to try those red hot ones, now that you bring it up.

banbotox said...

The Order of Australia medal holder laying movie stink bombs? Good thing the Herald Sun puts out those sensational headlines. Have to keep things right with the world, for heaven's sake!
And certainly she has enough films on tap that one of them has to be average enough to call a hit!

maclen said...

Well from what I'm reading, her movie margot at the wedding got pretty ho hum buzz at telluride. ...But, if you want to have a laugh, go read the kidman new Vanity Fair thread at NKU...(by they way, where is the genius who said she is never on covers anymore! boy i wish...)

NICOLE LOSES TOMS BABY AT 23!...

DOES MOCK TOMKAT "BABY IN JACKET" PHOTO SHOT!

DOES NOT REGRET MARRIAGE TO TOM!

LOST TOM'S BABY AT TIME OF DIVORCE!

...boy she must be getting desperate... and I bet Urban is anxiously waiting at the very front of the line to get a issue of VF... to read how she really feels about.... tom!

hesaweiner said...

Since she's been with Keith, she's talked more about Tom than she has Keith. She needs to get over it. Tom don't want her nasty ass. If Keith were smart, he wouldn't either. He's obviously not that intelligent. I see Sucker written on his forehead!

doublewide said...

what a SKANK......

yeah, where is that lame brain that said she isn't on mag covers? good question maclen

and she is desperate.....and a liar to boot...boy, has fate ever dealt keith a rotten hand

Its been pretty apparent right from the very beginning of this "relationship", that she has no regard for urban, to continue to publicly proclaim her obsession with cruise. Whether its her personal feelings, or just a blatant attempt to court public sympathy for her failing career, any minimal or initial sympathy I had for urban is beginning to dwindle away in a growing suspicion that he is truly just a simple and unsophisticated emotional cameleon, content to blend in and fade away in the any given environment or situation she may wish him to occupy.

Can anyone tell me why when "the happy lovebirds walk hand in hand" she is looking at the ground like she's embarrassed and wants to disappear and he is two or three feet in front of her pulling her along like a stubborn two year old throwing a tantrum at the grocery store? When I walk hand in hand with someone we are side by side - not one several feet in front of the other.
