Benefit for Nashville tonight

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- WSMV-TV Channel 4 will broadcast Working 4 You: Flood Relief with Vince Gill & Friends on Thursday, May 6, in prime time from 7 to 10 p.m.

Other stars scheduled to appear include Keith Urban, Alison Krauss, Naomi Judd, Darius Rucker, Phil Vassar, Steve Wariner, Buddy Jewell, Lonestar, Bo Bice and Lee Roy Parnell.Nashville and the surrounding middle Tennessee communities have been devastated by floodwaters after the area received 15 inches of rain within a 48-hour time period. Thousands of middle Tennesseans have been evacuated from their homes with many losing everything to the flood. Many of the victims do not have flood insurance, and the demands on relief agencies are stretched to the limit.

“These are our friends and family; we always take care of our friends and family,” said Meredith Senior Vice President and WSMV-TV General Manager Elden Hale Jr. “It’s unfortunate that we’re called upon to do this again for our neighbors, but we are very proud to have the ability to reach out to so many people with Nashville’s flood relief telethon.”

All proceeds from Working 4 You: Flood Relief with Vince Gill & Friends will benefit The Salvation Army, The Red Cross and The Second Harvest Food Bank.

Channel 4 is unable to accommodate a live audience at the station. The only way to see the telethon is on Channel 4 and WSMV.com.

Note to Keith:  You really don't have to start EVERY conversation off with "My wife is out of town, BUT..."

Well, good for Gill...taking and getting the credit for his tireless work on behalf of the Hall! Orb just not "up" to take the credit, huh? He probably has another appointment to immediately fly back to Maui and finish off that Golf game with the other "off-half"! "Vince Gill and friends"...bet this was the original title of the "All for the Hall" benefit...before orb co-opted the benefit to highlight himself!

Keith sang two songs. I didn't see Vince ask any other artist to sing twice. Funny that, since they hate him so much there and with his career in Nashville being over and all. Keith also manned the phones. Keith doesn't need to take the credit for this anyone with eyes can see that Keith cares about Nashville.

So... Keith played a couple of songs & answered phones for donations. Not good enough, though, right?

Let's see... Brad Paisley, Tim Mcgraw and Faith Hill were on Andersoon Cooper tonight. But for PR reasons, right?

Yes, I get it...you see, these critters keep coming here to get the skeptics to "pat their heads" and to justify their fawning of the orb! Otherwise, they cannot worship unconditionally...they arent able to "wuv" him thoroughly or totally unless the skeptics (and this cynic here) say to them..."yes the orb is soooo fab...he is beyond even the most handsome ...the bomb of all country pickers...he dominates the world of all that is "homespun!" For they are not content with the wuvin' the other monkeylanders bestow on him at their little pristine, shallow and one dimensional monkeysite. I sense alot of little insecure moppets... looking for "justification"... HERE at Urban Myths! And I for one will not give my "stamp of approval"...I for one have no problem whatsoever NOT commenting at the monkeysite...or the addicts site...for I have my opinion and I'm content with it, no matter what. But these monkeys will never be content in THEIR opinion on the orb...never secure that a possible spread of "unpopular" talk or discontent among former monkeys wont begin to spread to other "insecure" monkeys that results in the orb's eventual demise on the whole scene! Well, dellusional monkeys, look at the orb's cd sales, his demise is upon you! Or otherwise they wouldnt feel the need to be here...and constantly "preaching" that "we just haven't seen the light!" or, "You can be "born again" if you are just willing!" It truly is that monumental a psychological addiction...one that has been going on in humankind since...well the original blogs...cave paintings and ancient hieroglyphics! Fine, have your opinions...but dont panhandle door to door like annoying jehovah witness' or hare krishna's...you are that annoying...so to this...

"So... Keith played a couple of songs & answered phones for donations. Not good enough, though, right?"

No it's not.
You want to ask another question...right?

"Let's see... Brad Paisley, Tim Mcgraw and Faith Hill were on Andersoon Cooper tonight. But for PR reasons, right?"

Yes, they were.
And you'll still need another shot at my approval, right? Yes, I've figured that.

So in the continueing "E-o'-L-N-M's"

...Ha! Leave it to swifty to "out PR" the orb+deadweight...

http://bigpondnews.com/articles/Entertainment/2010/05/07/Keith_Urban_donates_to_help_victims_459477.html

Keith Urban donates to help victims

"Keith Urban and wife Nicole Kidman have made a donation to help victims of the Nashville floods which have killed at least 29 people in Tennessee."

...seems the cat got orb tongue on the FULL exploit of his and dead weight's amount of donation! Here is how its done...

http://www.wiredprnews.com/2010/05/07/taylor-swift-makes-donation-for-nashville-flood_2010050710930.html

Taylor Swift makes donation for Nashville flood

"Country music superstar Taylor Swift is reportedly making a $500,000 donation in support of those affected by the massive flood in Nashville."

..but then swifty is quite accustomed to knocking orb out of the spotlight! She constantly does it in cd sales...award wins...clearly in fanbase!
But this...

http://ricksanchez.blogs.cnn.com/2010/05/04/keith-urban-i-may-have-lost-everything/

Keith Urban: I may have lost everything

...is old news already! OH NO! I hope the damage to orb's recording equipment doesnt effect the "quality"...or the "commercial viability" of orb's next cd! I'm sure they'll be a song dedicated to the flood...you know something thoughtful and profound...perhaps..."An ode to my Soggy Guitar"...or something as unforgettable as this...

"Baby come here next to me, I'll show you how good it can be
I'll breathe each breath you breathe
I can, pour out everthing I am"

...I"ll breathe each breath you breathe? What does that even mean? Is it like, "I"ll chew each bite you chew? Actually the thought of it just made me nauseous...I just imagined kidman's breathe must reek of tobacco tar and the toxic vapor of collagen! Well, this rather rudimentary and vague song chosen by orb to cover is pretty indicative of the orb's rather banal and simplistic...and very juvenile jingles! Yikes, actually just listened to a few secs of orb's next single...orb is especially laying on that "warbling twang" a little thick! Typically trying to overcompensate for the lack of personality or character!

Oh please! Brad Paisley does a good job of keeping himself out of the limelight. He did the interview with Cooper to raise awareness of the Flood disaster and the struggles his city is going through. If you honestly think he's doing it for PR reasons, well then that proves to me everything you say is ridiculous and false.

And what about Carrie Underwood? We haven't heard a word from her, have we? But you won't say anything about that. Cause it's all about Keith and how he's supposed to be Superman and save the city! Haha, wow. Keith has done more than a lot others have. What have you done?

Tara said...

Paisley did mention that he will be part of an even on GAC about the flood.
Faith and Tim also mentioned they are having an event towards the end of the month

Good for all of them- Jo Dee, Faith, Tim, Kenny, Brad, Vince and Amy and Keith- they are all out there using their fame for good.
It is PR for the city and the future.

And losing those guitars is a very big deal.

I am sure if I cared about Underwood I would be concerned but thats not what this blog is about is it?

And Kidman is on her way back to Nashville- good for her

and life goes on he is in NYC to tape Jimmy Fallon early next week and the new single, which he performed last night is released on Monday.

Draw your own conclusions.

Unknown said...

Well said, Tara.

Verity said...

Brad Paisley will be on the road soon and gone from Nashville. Should we draw our own conclusions about that Tara?

I've never been compelled to respond here because it hasn't been worth it. But I just can't believe the reaction to what has happened. It's crazy and bizarre. Keith donated, he sang twice, he manned phones, he spoke to the media to bring PR to the situation and of course by maclen's standards it's not enough. When they publicly donated the same amount Taylor did last night to the bushfires, it wasn't enough. He's critiqued for mentioning his wife. Excuse me but everyone knows who she is. It would be odd for him not to say something on her behalf. "the wife" is family. I don't know a more appropriate time to be talking about family then on a telethon trying to rebuild family's lives. All of you claim to be so offended but apparently not offended enough to stop paying attention. So that means you are here for the reason I always thought, to mercilessly criticize 3 people. Yes I include their daughter. That's your idea of entertainment when you've been proven wrong time after time. Naomi Judd says Keith is a neighbor even though some of you say he doesn't live where he says he does. Keith always says how proud he is Sunday Rose was born in Nashville, said it last night in front of tv cameras and a whole lot of stars and no one is calling him a liar.

The more you post insane comments like this the better off we'll all be. The more time goes by the more everyone can see it's just about animosity towards people who owe you nothing and have done nothing to you.

Well, my observance gets another example...a newby monkey...just "cant believe the reaction" to his/her idol orb! Cannot..."not" respond any longer...despite believing it hasnt been "worth it!" But must now preach to the "unenlightened"...must "explain" to the "unbelieving" that the orb is just the "sincerest" and most "generous" Yes, our "insane" comments" will be better off for you! No, your now here commenting because you're worried and insecure that "unflattering" comments about your boy orb will continue to tarnish his image and his popularity will continue to plumment...his cd sales will continue to decline and the awards will continue to ellude him. And despite all your little fansie lovespeak for the orb, he has fallen from that top tier of country hierarchy...replaced by swift, underwood and chesney. Yes, you can try to explain why the orb is so great...but the reality doesnt show that.

maclen, I'm guessing there are a lot of skeptics around the net for the fans to feel so compelled to defend these two. Surely this one site can't be enough to stir up that much anger. And if I remember correctly, the original point was how could Keith be on the golf course in Hawaii and in Nashville preparing to record at the same time.

To change the subject, are we going to see every frame of the movie Just Go With It before it ever comes out? Daily Mail has Kidman in yet another of her scenes in the film. Obviously she managed to increase her part from a two minute cameo to a small supporting role. Considering Aniston's string of flops is nearly as long as Kidman's this film won't be worth seeing either.

Sure of course, mikki, but I'm only addressing the fansies who are coming here to Urban Myths...and where ever else they may be also commenting...and under whatever different usernames they are using doesnt concern me at all. The original point of the previous blog entry was the juxaposition of orb and dead weight on the golf links as Tennessee...and the Opry...flooded. Now of course it was established by "elmo" that they were on the golf greens on Sunday...and then I pointed out that earliest reports had tennessee flooding the day before, on Saturday. Now whether orb was simply ignorant...or unconcerned..over flooding in Nashville occuring on Saturday...and orb grabbing a few holes the next day is open to all levels of interpretation. Now, the ensueing issues concern tweets...and recording. I posted an article of tweets by mcbride, chesney, reinert and paisley and then wondered if the orb had anything relevent to add...now I havent even bothered to check if orb ever posted anything...or more likely...what his twit paid hack posted on twitter...so anyone having that answer may enlighten all with that. And then I pointed out, that according to orb himself, in that CNN appearence, which some may interpret as orb trying to make up for what many here are accusing him of...being late to the party...orb himself stated he returned to Nashville on MOnday to resume recording...but found his equipment under water! Now many may accuse orb of, again, being ignorant...or simply unconcerned to the level of flooding in Tennessee! Which again, would explain why he was on CCN on tuesday... he was either ignorant or unconcerned to the level of flooding, and when he found he wouldnt be able to record...he then...and only then, ran to CNN to reveal that he "may have lost everything...and...oh yes...others may be worse off! Now, he may have played at the benefit...manned a phone...donated to the cause...but that has absolutely nothing to do with my, and the previous blogs point of what orb knew...and when he knew it! And so again, orb was either "ignorant" or simply "unconcerned" when flooding in Tennessee first occurred!

Maclen-I had never thought of the cavemen as bloggers, interesting thought.

Perhaps we should discuss that!

To change the subject, are we going to see every frame of the movie Just Go With It before it ever comes out?

Mikki-well, I don't know about EVERY frame, but, do I remember reading about her becoming BFF with the cast members of Nine during it's shooting as well? Boy, she sure can bond! Perhaps we should discuss that!

John Rich as a website:johnrich.com
that has a free download of a new song 'Lend a Hand' and a link to make donations. I heard him discuss it today on talk radio as I was driving between appointments. No, he did not discuss himself, no, all of the musicians played for free, and the download is free so I do not believe there is any PR attached to it. Do you know that no one from the federal government has been in the Volunteer State yet? That's 6 days?! Not that they need anyone, they are cleaning it up by themselves. The Opryland hotel will not reopen until December, and I saw a picture of someone with a canoe on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry. Perhaps we should discuss that!

Just saying. . . .

How on earth could you possibly know what someone you don't know is thinking in a picture you weren't in is thinking? You crazy physic you!!!!

Yes, you may be right...it may turn out to be a bigger role than originally reported. And I would imagine it is clearly because kidman may have nothing in line after this role! Now, remember this is a sandler flick...he's put Rob Schneider in many of his films! Kidman agreeing to humiliate herself ever more in this flick is not exactly a big concern to the film makers! And I imagine people are about as tired of another aniston RomCom as they are of another kate hudson RomCom!

abc said...

Laura, how do you "definitely" know what Keith is 'thinking'?

Unknown said...

You're right, I don't know what he's thinking. I shouldn't have said that. I meant that, in my opinion, I highly doubt Keith is questioning his faith because of something like this. These disasters happen all the time. And I'm pretty sure he mentioned the Lord on the Nashville Telethon the other night.

Okay, I'm not trying to be rude, but aren't you guys a little old to be wasting your time talking bad about people (you don't even know, btw) on the internet? I found this site on google because, being a big Keith Urban fan, I was looking him up. And I'm just sticking up for what I think is right. But still, I challenge you to give me some legit proof that what you all say about Keith is seriously the truth.

Anonymous said...

abc, the same way Laura knows that "only you" have a particular opinion.

maclen, NK has to have an actual role in a film in order to keep her place in the fame game. Once she can no longer get roles her fame fades away along with her career. Nine saved her in 09'. Rabbit Hole was suppose to keep her relevant in 2010. But instead shes had to get a bigger part in Just Go With It. Still, she has nothing coming out this year. Can't wait to see the next role this new manager gets for her. HA!

And to Nashville, surely we'll see their most famous star, the only one who paparazzi ever photograph there, use her starpower to help in the recovery effort. Once shes completed filming of course.

Urban Myths said...

Laura, have you looked at our archives? Since 2007 we have given you what you seek.

First and foremost, let's get something straight. Keith Urban is not the savior of Nashville. He sang one song more than the other artists. Does that really mean something? Did he make the telethon $1.5 million, and the remaining artists pulled in the rest of the money because they only performed one song? He is doing no more than the rest of the artists in Nashville. They ALL care about Nashville, so don't put him up on your little pedestals.

Anderson Cooper said it himself in his phone interview with Kenny. He was not aware of how bad things are in Tennessee and would let others know of the devastation the next day. He called on the power names in Nashville to get the word out. Tim and Faith showed Anderson the hardships in Nashville. They talked about their shock over the devastation around the whole area. It wasn't about their loss. Brad Paisley spoke about the damage of the Grand Ole Opry to President Obama. It wasn't about his loss, and he didn't explain where his wife was at the moment either.

That brings me to Keith's message to the people of Tennessee at the fundraiser. Did he really have to mention his wife first? Does he think those people who cannot return to their homes anymore were wondering where his wife is right now? Does he think those who have no other clothes but the ones on their back are wondering when his wife is returning to town? Nicole's presence and what she would have been wearing that night wasn't a priority for the people of Tennessee - the flood victims are Mr. Urban! Who cares about your wife during this crisis?

Anonymous said...

Well said blue sky. I think Keith is required to mention/promote his wife at every opportunity. And he does!

maclen said...

Well, about all the "over-abundance" of photos and coverage of the filming of this sandler pic. It does seem it all will be played out to the public long before it actually reaches theaters! And of course I cant help but notice a few hilarious images coming out...now take these photos...

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1274374/Nicole-Kidman-gives-rare-flash-bikini-body-daring-swimsuit-films-Maui-Jennifer-Aniston.html?ito=feeds-newsxml

Nicole Kidman gives rare flash of bikini body in cutaway swimsuit as she films poolside with Jennifer Aniston

...now...evidently, kidman either had a another quick boob job...or more than actually, she is wearing a "padded" swimsuit! Yes, clearly kidman is so frightened out of her empty-headed mind at the thought of being seen alongside model Brooklyn Decker along side a pool... she feels the need to stuff her bra..now that is no doubt far more hilarious than anything that is gonna be in this dismal film. Now, take this video of a "hula dance" given to ET...

http://www.theimproper.com/?p=7116

Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Aniston in Hula Face-Off (video)

...oh yeah, aniston and kidman have a "hula dance off" along side a bevy of some pretty "heavy set ladies"...and no doubt the yucks from "fat jokes" will come at the expense of these heavy set ladies! Well, so much for kidman's claim that she is not guilty, like all those OTHERS in Lalaland, who portray women in a less than flattering manner! But then that is just what I expected from a sandler flick.

IMO, the person here named ‘Jasfro’ appears to be a person who goes by MANY different names, throughout the internet (entertainment sites), made obvious by the repetitive and regular use of specific abusive language and the unusual guffaw “BAHAHAHAHA”, aggressive bullying and gang-like intimidation, demonising and what seems to be the systematic outing of members of the internet community on ‘his/her/its’ website/blog called Skewering the Skeptics:

http://skeweringtheskeptics.blogspot.com

‘His/her/its’ PRIMARY name is Skewer Mistress, but ‘he/she/it’ seemingly goes by the following names as well (with apologies to anyone mistakenly identified as being SM):

‘Eve’

‘Suck It Up Skeptics’
'Someone's an idiot if'
'GIMME SOME TRUTH'

This multi-headed person trawls and scours the various forums to find people to target and attack, generally being those who put forth ‘negative’ statements about Keith and/or Nicole Urban. Some of this can be found at JJ (any of the KUNK threads), where Urban Myths is often referred to by this person, for eg:

http://justjared.buzznet.com/2010/05/03/nicole-kidman-keith-urban-go-golfing/all-comments/#comments

http://justjared.buzznet.com/2010/04/26/nicole-kidman-sunday-hiking/all-comments/#comments

What gives this multi-split-personality away is ‘his/her/its’ repetitive use of the same abusive language and words (below) in describing the people that ‘he/she/it’ is excessively and unnaturally obsessed with, for who knows what reason: money, ego, site-flow, attention, addiction, animosity, loneliness?:

“too stupid” “freaks” “nasty” “haters” “jealous” “screwballs” “morons” “idiots” “sickos” “whacko” “jackass” “comical” “K unts” “losers” “nuts” “liars” “frauds” “ridiculous” “so sick” “sad” “desperate” “conspiracy theorists” “psychos” “nasty” “piss off” “shut up loser” “pffffff” “you all” “facts don’t lie” “skeptics”.

It is one thing to assert one’s opinion and one’s rights, but it is quite another to be viciously aggressive and hypocritical about it. That’s just not ok.

Dr Phil calls it: “THE RUDENESS EPIDEMIC”

There would have been a perfect movie role for Keith. He could have played "Shallow Hal" much better than Jack Black!

Thanks for posting the bikini article maclen. It looks like Nicole pulled a Pamela Anderson. Wasn't happy with the first boob job, so went back for more. She went under for surgery for two boob jobs - does she know how risky that is for a superficial procedure?

How shallow is this couple?

The donations that have come in so far - I have no problem with Taylor's $500K. Her income is not that of the Urbans. I don't believe Taylor has been ranked in Forbes or Fortune 500 like the Urbans have been. The Urbans are the richest in Nashville with the McGraws, and I would expect more from those two couples. Nissan gave $300K. Taylor's contribution beat a major car company.

No doubt, hoosier...the shut in addicts...the NKUsers are lapping up the typical hype about how kidman and aniston have "bonded" and have now become "BFFs!" I seem to recall hearing how kidman and the Nine co-stars had become very chummy and so close during filming...yeah, and fat lot of good it did for that film at the box office...or with the critics! The more that is shown of this cellar dwelling... and no doubt crass and juvenile film...the more likely it is that kidman will only be able to find work in bit parts in movies like "Paul Blart: Mall Cop"...or "The Hangover"...or maybe a revival of the "American Pie" gag-fest!

Jen Aniston Vs. Nicole Kidman! Who Looks Better In A Coconut Bra? Watch Them

"Regardless of who YOU think has the better bikini body, there’s one thing we can all agree on — Adam Sandler is super lucky to be working on a set with so many gorgeous women!"

...yeah...and the exact same thing was said about D-day lewis in Nine! And kidman cant help but be a part of being exploited as just another "body" in the harem that's competing for the dude's attention! So much for her hollow words of "woman empowerment!" But then a fizzled career is more than enough reason for her to throw out those supposedly solid standards! Stuffed bikini tops...a bright orange "greyless" wig to appear younger...the botox...lip injections...yeah kidman is one hell of a "role model" to woman! No doubt kidman will try to gravitate to james cameron's 3d film technology...just totally CGI kidman's entire role in a film...and her expressions. She already is practically a total phoney in films...even by Lalalands standards!

I've been pretty silent on this issue, but having survived a massive flood, I definitely understand how people feel when they're faced with the destruction of this magnitude. Many of these people have no insurance and have lost EVERYTHING.

I thought Keith's address on CNN was heartfelt and showed his sincere concern for all those involved.

Everyone expects the stars to step up because they're rich. Many of them have. We have to remember that they've lost alot in this, also. I think specifically about Keith and Brad P. They have Millions of dollars tied up in their road gear and guitars. Yes, they have lots of money, but this is a heck of a loss. Yet, they're all out there helping. Honestly, if I had lost alot of valuable property in a flood, I'd be whining. They are taking the focus OFF their personal losses in order to bring public attention to the catastrophic damage that regular people have suffered.

I don't think you could ask Keith to do much more than he has. He's willing to help physically with the clean up, he performed on the telethon, he manned the phones and I'm sure they've made a substantial financial contribution. Was it for PR? Seriously...I doubt that.

At some point, we have to acknowledge that all these stars are real life human beings. He has lost alot - yet, he was more than clear that his losses pale in comparison to those who have lost family members, livelihoods and homes. Keith has a heart. He may not live in the same world as you and I ... but he hasn't forgotten what it was like to live here.

The next thing will be how selfish he is to go ahead with commitments he has made to be on TV this coming week. The reality is, life goes on. Nashville needs Keith to bring country music to TV and to tour. They need Brad Paisley to carry on with his H2O tour concert dates. That city needs the industry to carry on ... the tourism to continue so that money is brought into the city and recovery can be financed. That's an important reality for Nashville.

CNN, and all cable nets... shill to "book" celebs during times of catastophies for the simple goal of "ratings"..just as celebs shill for news coverage booking for PR. Billion dollar "global encompassing" news corportations "do not need" celebs" to get the storie out here. Again, it just the "infotaiment" takeover of the news corps trolling for ratings from a incestuous group of the usual talking heads. Just as orb went on CNN for the "publicity" of appearing to be just like the "regular people"...the true citizens...who did not have the luxury of being in Maui playing golf...when truly, EVERYTHING they have was destroyed. It simply gave the orb a "I feel your pain" moment. I'd prefer CNN simply embed a news crew in Tennessee, on the ground...getting the story of regular people and THEIR life altering losses...and not bother with the gluttony that the orb's, or any country celebs "guitar collection" or his "car collection" got damaged by the flood.

Are they using their celebrity to get some attention for the cause? Yes. Does it look good for them and advance their reputations? Yes. Did they do it for that purpose? I honestly don't think so, but none of us know what is their motivation.

As far as CNN, it may be partially for the ratings, but there's alot of hi profile stuff out there for them to report. In fact, the attempted terrorist attack in Times Square and the oil disaster in the Gulf were both getting way more attention, and are higher profile than a little old disaster in Tennessee. I think that the stars said - look. This flood is horrendous and these people need help here! I think CNN responded to the celebs by bringing some badly needed attention to the disaster. This is just my opinion, though.

So, as I wait...as I know many of you are...in "anticipation" of the orb rolling up his sleeves, and getting knee high in tennesse flood waters...(no doubt at this very moment some paid hack is organizing a "country contingent"...which at some point will all descend onto the waters...for one quick and convient "one stop" shopping...of the photo ops! I mean, what is the point for the celebs who will no doubt "donate" money to the cause...if they cant announce it on national tv!? So...just saw this on the nets...

http://www.parade.com/celebrity/dont-miss-list/2010/05/10-jimmy-fallon-salutes-rolling-stones.html

Jimmy Fallon Salutes the Rolling Stones

...now first let's take a look at the story...

"Beginning tonight, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon will salute the re-release of the Rolling Stone’s album Exile on Main Street, which is regarded by many as one of the greatest albums in rock history. Jimmy’s guests will perform selected songs from the album each night."

Now onto the roster...tell me...which of these scheduled performers just doent seem to fit it?

" Green Day, Keith Urban, Sheryl Crow, Phish, Pearl Jam, and others will help Jimmy Fallon celebrate one of the longest-lasting and most amazing rock bands of all time."

Now of course, rockers Green day, phish, Pearl Jam...even sheryl crowe make sense...but, really...orb? Do I sense a little publicity opportunism on the part of orb...an attempt to "broaden his appeal" beyond his dwindling country fanbase? Was he gonna be on fallon's show...and it turns out to be "Rolling Stones" week...so he'll do a cover? again, is there even a past connection...a quote...anything from orb about being influenced or a fan of the stones? Now it does seem orb performed the stones "gimme shelter" with alicia keys at the "Earth day" concert in 2007...but clearly, it was keys choice of song. Now interesting, I did find some info on a "connection" between orb and the stones...but..NOT from the orb! Last year, in a review of orb's album, "Defying Sales", Thom Jurek for ALLMUSIC wrote, " He described the first two singles and the "I'm In" cover favorably, saying of "I'm In" that its backing vocals recalled The Rolling Stones..."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defying_Gravity_(Keith_Urban_album)

Now, also very interestingly...the orb's latest single off of Defying Sales released jsut last week is....yes you guessed it..."I'm IN!" So again, I sense a very desperate orb is trying to grasp at a little publicity opportunism in an attempt to jump start weak sales of his cd...by taking an impression by a reviewer that the song is "stones-eque" and now appearing on a "stones celebrating" tribute show! Clearly, for the fading orb...taking these obvious chances of alienating his current fansies...and trying to expand beyond them...he clearly has not choice!

Maclen if I have to read comments about KU being a better musician than Keith Richards, or a better front man than Mick I may very well lose my mind.

I'm just warning you that I've done pretty well so far keeping my temper in check, but I will not promise anything if the prevailing winds of idol worship blow the written word in the direction I foresee.

I'm actually thinking of not checking in for a few weeks just to save myself the spike in blood pressure.

Anyway, forewarned is forearmed, or foreprotected in your case, everyone may want to duck.

Keith has already covered the Stones, at Live 8. The selection was an idea by Keith's management when they (he and Keyes) met at a photo shoot. No wonder you make up scenarios....you don't know the real story!

The point of the week is to bring in different artists to sing covers. Good music is good music. And really, how would Keith know about the Fallon show plans unless the show's booking contacted him first. He's not a publicity tour for a new record or doing a ton of PR in NYC.

The fans are excited about this appearance. I haven't seen one person boo the fact he's singing something without twang.

Well, I say hoosier, any fansie appearing here to talk up the orb over the Stones...Let em have it! I seem to now be seeing the new tact that the orb is trying to move in! A few months ago it's announced orb will open up a few gigs for the 70's staple, The Eagles...and besides today's announcement of the orb on fallon's 60's gestated Rolling Stone's tribute...there is this news as well...

http://www.cmt.com/news/news-in-brief/1638823/keith-urban-will-join-marty-stuarts-late-night-jam-in-june.jhtml

Keith Urban Will Join Marty Stuart's Late Night Jam in June

Marty stuart...whom wiki describes as basically gestating in the 80's and finding success in the '90's.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marty_Stuart

...seems the fizzling of his past 2 albums...they of clearly "dwindling returns"...it seems clear orb has given up on poaching the teen and tween set from swift...and is now looking to the "past" in a desperate search for an meaningful audience! So, I do wonder what song off of the Stone's Exile on Main Street the orb will butcher on fallon' show in a few nights? I gotta review the song line up on the album to try and take a calculated "guess" at which he'll strangle!...just for giggles...

hoosierlady said...

I am just so thankful we have the new group of fans to point out when we don't know the facts and they have the real story. Or the story behind the story, or the meaning behind the pictures. What did we ever do without them?

Yes, the Eagles and the Dixie Chicks. Question is, does he think they are there for him, or vice versa?

"maclen the Jimmy Fallon appearance was announced weeks ago."

HA! Oh yeah, the fact that this was actually announced LAST MONTH negates my thoughts because...WHY? Has the orb given any indication of his love or influence by the Stones in the past month?

Verity said...
"Keith has already covered the Stones, at Live 8".

OH really? Because this site page here...

http://www.answers.com/topic/live-8-concert-philadelphia

...states that orb performed, "Days Go By" co-written by orb, "You'll Think of Me" written by Darrell Brown, Ty Lacy and Dennis Matkosky, "Another Day in Paradise" written by Phil Collins, and "Somebody Like You" co written by orb, at the Live 8 concert held on july 2, 2995. So evidently, "Verity", you must be confusing his cover of a stones song along side alicia keys at the "Live Earth" concert on july 7, 2007!

http://www.spinner.com/2007/07/07/keith-urban-alicia-keys-look-for-shelter/

Keith Urban, Alicia Keys Look for 'Shelter'

"In the most unlikely pairing of the day, Aussie country-rocker Keith Urban and soul songstress Alicia Keys teamed up to cover... the Rolling Stones? The two stars tackled the Stones classic 'Gimme Shelter' in front of the New York crowd. Keys told Bravo host Dave Holmes backstage, "It was a really spontaneous thing...bringing together people from supposedly two separate worlds."

So, according to Keys, the performance was a "spontaneous thing"...so I'll just ignore your nonsense, "Verity", about how, "The selection was an idea by Keith's management when they (he and Keyes) met at a photo shoot. So, just to clarify for you, "Verity"... orb and keys...performed the Stone's "Gimme Shelter" at "Live Earth" in 2007...and not at "Live 8" in 2005! And if you had read my comment more clearly only a few comments ago, you would have known that...

Maclen said...
"...Now it does seem orb performed the stones "gimme shelter" with alicia keys at the "Earth day" concert in 2007...

...and that it was as I mentioned, alicia keys who more than likely, as she stated, who "spontaneously" suggested the Stone's cover!

So, "Verity" who is now "making up scenarios?" So, on review... the orb covered the Stone's GImme Shelter with alicia keys at Live Earth in 2007...and not as you stated, at Live 8 in 2005. And orb did not cover the Stone's at 2005's Live 8 concert. And according to Alicia Keys, her performance of the Stone's cover "Gimme Shelter" at Live Earth in 2007, "It was a really spontaneous thing ... bringing together people from supposedly two separate worlds"...and not as you state, "The selection was an idea by Keith's management when they (he and Keyes) met at a photo shoot. Just because that is how it plays out in YOUR head...doesnt you know..actually make it true!

Ha! Yeah Hoosier, the real story! Clearly hoosier, "Verity" is a veritable "Fountain of Information!" And yes...orb covered the Stones at "Live 8" and HIS managment suggested the stone's cover!....NOT! Well, not according to Alicia Keys... at the time of the performance...you know, in 2005, and NOT in 2007! Now clearly, Ive made errors in my posts...but I doubt if I've made THAT many in one post!
Now as to the Eagles and dixie chicks...according to this article...

http://content.usatoday.com/communities/entertainment/post/2010/03/dixie-chicks-reunite-for-tour-with-eagles-keith-urban/1

Dixie Chicks reunite for tour with Eagles, Keith Urban

"...Check www.LiveNation.com for information and to see which dates will feature Keith Urban (he won't be at all of them).

...if true, it's obvious the orb is NOT the headliner! He's just touring "part time" in these gigs! He'll also be joining marty stuart's Late Night Jam...along with the Eagles and dixie chicks...both seperate gigs starting next month in june. So, apparently the orb is "hiring himself out" to any tour who will have him! OH oh, I was going to try and figure out what Stone's song the orb was going to sing, but watching fallon now...he revealed that the orb was going to butcher "Tumbling Dice'...HA! So orb is gonna sing the song that most recalls kidman!

"Tumbling Dice" lyrics:

'Cause all you women is low down gamblers,
Cheatin' like I don't know how,
But baby, baby, there's fever in the funk house now.
This low down bitchin' got my poor feet a itchin',

"Don't you see the time flashin' by.
Honey, got no money, I'm all sixes and sevens and nines.
Say now, baby, I'm the rank outsider,
You can be my partner in crime. But baby, I can't stay,
You got to roll me and call me the tumblin',

"Playin' the field ev'ry night. Baby, can't stay,
You got to roll me and call me the tumblin' (dice)"

...you think the orb is trying to say something with this song choice! Hilarious!

Well, that's something to look for, hoosier! Orb's extra mangling of the Stone's song is...well...extra ridiculous. Now as to the McCartney comment...as I recall, the Stone's Exile on Main Street was released in 1972... and Bread's "Guitar Man"...the song orb plagerized on "Til summer comes around"...was also released in 1972! So, '72 seems to be the relevant year! And although mccartney didnt release an album in '72, he did release the albums "Wild Life" in '71 and "Red Rose Speedway" and "Band on the Run" in '73. And I would say Mccartney's "Band on the Run" the most likely choice! Those would be the albums to look out for! But despite the highly eroneous "verity"...I'm sure the orb WILL butcher the song with his overly done and highly exaggerated "twang"
Although I haven't heard that kidman and orb were off to hong kong...her to shill watches and orb to play at a "special UN concert"..and no doubt it would be for UN big wigs and VIPs...kidman no doubt would arrange for orb to appear as kissing up to said UN big wigs and VIPs! And if it does turn out to be true...it fits in with "limo ambassador" kidman's MO...she doenst do anything for the UN unless she also has something to sell! Usually it's a film..but since she doesnt have much of those coming out anytime soon...she has to settle for watches! In her last appearance in DC last November, on behalf of the UN...she was shilling Nine...when she appeared at the UN to present a petition of signatures in 2008, she was shilling Australia...and when she treats the sick kids at the Sydney Hospital to an outing at the movies, it's to her opening films Happy Feet and Golden compass!

So, just checked out orb's cover of the Stone's "Tumbling Dice" on fallon's late night show on youtube...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhFWH9OUt-o

...then rewatced it on the show...and my initial, and then my ultimate reaction? A very straightforward and exact rendition of the original...with the tempo sped up a little...(cause you know, the orb really wants people to know that he can rock!) And the other reaction is that the orb has a WEAK voice. The 3 female back up singers constantly drowned the orb out whenever they sang...and more than once I do recall reading in a few of orb's live gig reviews that his voice was sometimes "hoarse" during the performances...and here you can hear his voice beginning to go "hoarse" at the tail end of this cover. And again, it's because he has a rather weak voice. So clearly, orb is obviously trying to troll for that "classic rock" audience...having, as I mentioned earlier...clearly lost out on the teen and tween crowd to swifty! That's why he opening a few gigs this summer for The Eagles...and now...this Rolling Stones cover performance. Well, why would the "classic rock" crowd go for orb's "pale, watered down version" when the Eagles and the Stones are still around? And why is it that orb is cleary bleeding his intitial "country" audience? Because he began to lack something for that initial country crowd...and so now he is looking to offer something to that "rocker" crowd...again, having flopped out with that "teen/tween crowd" with "Defying Sales." And I dont see how he achieves his latest mission...trying to rock out...you know...besides true and actual rockers like green day and Phish! So can I take it from all this, that his next cd, which he tried to get some work done in Nashville...(and recall, AFTER the devastating flood!)...be an ode to that "classic rock" sound and feel? Will there be a few other covers of past rockers? We shall have to wait and see!

I thought his performance last night was pretty damn good. I loved the big band with him, would love to see THAT out on tour. Clearly Sarah Buxton was having the time of her life. She even had the balls to put a pic on twitter yesterday of them all leaving on a jet plane (chartered she said) yesterday - and yes, NK was there.

Stones honkytonkin' rock is very much where Keith shines best. Here's to hoping his next album leans heavily in that direction. That sappy love shit I can't take anymore.

Maybe if you had been at the live taping you would have seen all the country music fans that were there as well as all the young fans of Keith's that were there. The audience was filled probably with about about 75% fans of Keith's and 25% fans of the show. If you listenned Keith got the loudest cheers and applause when his name was mentioned on the show along with the other guests. There were fans of Keith's there from Holland, Spain and Canada. In the US fans came from as far away as Texas but you know he has no fans left.
I got to speak with an employee of the show and was told that to date they haven't had all the people they've taken reservations for actually show up. On Monday, they let in 60 people who had showed on the day of for stand by. For Keith's performance well over 60 showed up for stand by and they could only accomodate 6 of them because Keith's fans did show up for him.
Every alert I've read of the show talks about being blown away by Keith performance. I think he did a great job. Everyone involved did.
Why does Keith have to sing just country music? Faith Hill can crossover, Shania Twain did. Elvis crossed how many genre's? It doesn't mean that's not where is heart is. Or that he doesn't care about country music. Hell, he even mentionned the flood in Nashville in the song. It shows his popularity that people want to hear him sing other genre's.
For a guy who's career is over, funny they gave him the biggest hit/best known song off Exile on Main Street to sing.

maclen said...

"For a guy who's career is over, funny they gave him the biggest hit/best known song off Exile on Main Street to sing."

Ha! The fact that the orb sang a Stone's cover of a song that went to #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts back in '72...(according to Wiki)...on a midnight talk show week long tribute...is certainly not proof that the orb's career is NOT over! No, the fact that the orb's current cd...the now year old "Defying Sales" sold a paltry 800k cds...as compared to the 2mil sold of his previous cd, "Whole crazy thing" is proof his career is over!

maclen said...

Boy...what a completly ridiculous thing to say! Cause EVERYBODY knows that it was only 25% fans of Orb and 75% fans of the show....and of those "60 people who had showed on the day of for stand by"...30 were there to actually see Evangeline Lilly...and another 20 were there to see keenan from SNL...and only 10 were there to actually see the orb!! And I know for a fact that the fan from Holland was not in fact from there, but was an immigrant who is now a naturalized citizen and living in NYC...and was there in fact to see Lilly...

....this sounds ridiculous, doesnt it? Well, that is the level of "Fansie Power!"

maclen, I noticed at this show, just as it is at the awards shows that when Urban's name is announced there are "screamers" in the audience. And I'm reminded of an old trick first used by Frank Sinatra when he was starting out, young girls were hired for that very purpose. Not saying thats whats going on with Urban. But I do have to ask, if he has such a huge fan base who show up in the audience whenever hes on TV, how come they don't buy his CD's??

Ha, I think it's funny how you are claiming that Keith's career is over. So "Defying Gravity" didn't sell as much as he wanted it to, so what? He'll bounce back. No biggie. He's a huge country star. He won a Grammy in January, won favorite male artist at the People's Choice Awards, and is nominated for 2 CMT awards this year.

And, by the way, I've heard from A LOT of people who saw the show last night who LOVED his cover of "Tumbling Dice" and thought he killed it! And aw, he even mentioned Nashville, too. He didn't have to, but he did.

Oh, but I'm sure you guys will make up some kind of crazy theory to make yourselves feel better.

Well mikki, I think the question is how big is orb's fanbase today? When I make claim his fanbase is diminishing, it is not based on just my "opinion"...but his cd sales. For it IS FACT...that in 2005, orb sold 4mil cds...in 2007 he sold 2mil cds...and in 2009 he then only sold 800k cds! And that IS an indication that he is no longer as popular as he once was. Now if that is still fine with his fansies...well that's their problem. But making a claim like "probably 75% were orb's fans and only 25% were fans of the show"...is pretty asinine! And again, "fansie's arriving from "Holland, Spain and Canada" to watch this show is not exactly a sign of commercial viablity...it's a fansie simply grasping at straws! But what I do whole heartedly agree with is these two comments by a few monkeylanders...and they seem to clearly imply why orb is no longer "AS POPULAR" with the country audience as he once was...quote from the monkey site under "Keith's next Album:

http://www.keithurban.net/forum/index.php?topic=38315.0

"I'm ready for something more country for sure! Grin I like Keith's "popish" stuff too but I personally love to hear him sing country more than anything. I doubt it will ever happen, but I'd actually love him to do an entire album of retro country. When Keith did the Marty Robbins medley, I thought his vocals were amazing - the best he's ever done! That's the style his voice is most suited to in my opinion but of course, I'm still happy hearing him sing anything at all! Cheesy No doubt I'll enjoy his new album regardless of what direction he takes it in."

..and...

"I hope Keith goes a little more country too! Was very excited when they posted he had a banjo in the studio with him the one day... really would like to hear some stuff more like "golden road", I've been digging GR so much lately, but lately I've been digging DG too!"

For clearly, orb started going down hill with the "Whole Crazy" cd in 2007...and then "defying Sales"- a very gag-inducing juvenile ode to kidman...who the fansies no doubt also had not much care for! But just as I surmissed his cd sales would be going south...based on recent developements, I too doubt orb will be getting back his supposed roots, country, as well!

"Fallon is hosting a Rolling Stones-themed week on the show, and Urban changed the lyrics in the last chorus of the Stone's classic to reflect the recent flood in Nashville..."There's a rain been coming down in Nashville, Tennessee," urban sang..."

OH yeah, orbs another "Dylan"... only more profound and deep!!! HA!
Orb was very much a "bland pale white bread" version of a true classic...and beleive me...my two cents...orb aint no "guitar hero"...he's a one dimensional "picker"...jangles like a "jingle"..no more...no less.

Imahick said...

I thought they (Keith and gang) did a good job covering a Stones tune. The background vocals drowned him out a few times...that's more a problem with whoever is controlling the sound and mix.

He rocked the song. The guitar solo was good. The ladies did a great job - Sara is a bit too "out there" at times, but generally, they all looked like they were having a good time.

I loved the interaction between Keith and the band ... especially the dude playing key board (from the Stones band).

I liked that he brought the floods up and made that a focus of the song at the end. He is doing everything he can to help Nashville. I read somewhere about Keith whining about losing his guitars - I have never heard that. When Sanchez tried to make it about Keith's losses, he turned it back to what regular people in Nashville were going thru.

It was a good show case for country artists - he covered a classic Stones tune very well. He brought some others from Nashville with him to have some national TV time. And he covered the Nashville flood!

I didn't see NK there and I didn't read about her being there. But then, I didn't want to. This was about Keith and a national TV appearance. It shouldn't be about his marriage.

Excuse me Maclen but were you there at the taping? Because I was. I know who Keith's fans are. The studio only holds 300 hudred people. We were all hanging out with each other while waiting for tickets in the morning and then again when waiting to get in. Then the warm up comic came out and talked to the audience for about a half hour, once we were in the studio. He asked all of us where we were from and why we were there. Who we came to see. So I wasn't "guestomating". The numbers were right there in front of me. I'm not grasping at anything. I know what I saw and heard but you put me and others down, that's what you do best when you've got nothing else.
Other then Taylor Swift and Rascal Flatts, no one is selling huge numbers. It's the way of the biz these days. I know it kills you but Keith is POPULAR.

So, let me get this straight, 75% of 300 is 225...so you spoke to 225 members of last nights fallon audience...while you all waited... and they all personally told you that they were there specifically to see orb? All 225 now... and not only say 200 people...because you know that would only make it 67%. Or when that warm up comic came out and "asked all of us where we were from and why we were there"...he actually got 225 audience members to answer that they were there to specifically see orb? Or... did you actually simply just count 225 people who were up on their feet and clapping while orb jingled? Or...did you read their expressions when orbs name was mentioned by fallon...or the announcer? OR...did you read every member's of the audience mind and came up with 225 of them who specifically came to see the orb? And you must also realize that Evangeline lilly and keenan thompson were also on the show, and so you are also claiming to that only 75 members of that audience were there to see them!? Lets see, so would that be only 40 for lilly and 35 people for thompson...well, so what are the numbers for them?
Zippy, your a "space cadet" You have a spacey knack of looking like you belong on the Montel williams show telling distraught and equally spacey folk looking to speak to their loved ones from the "Beyond the Grave!" Do you also read palms or tarot cards?

Ha! Back to some more kidman hilarity!

BEHOLD THE "BUNNY LINES"...oh how hilariously "ironic...

Botox erased wrinkles but may give you new ones, study finds

"While the toxin injection is effective at smoothing lines and wrinkles by paralyzing facial muscles, having some muscles frozen may cause others to work overtime - leading to more lines.
“Paralysis of a set of muscles might lead to recruitment of other muscle groups in an attempt to reproduce the conditioned activity being blocked - resulting in more prominent muscle activity in adjacent regions,” said Dr. David Becker, study author and assistant professor of dermatology at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York.
Often these lines appear across the bridge of the nose - the dreaded "bunny lines" seen on celebs like Nicole Kidman and Renee Zellweger. The bunny rabbit effect is so common that some doctors have taken to Botoxing the nose preemptively when treating other areas, as one dermatologist told Britain's Daily Mail"

...to wit...

...so with the "preventive measures" of pre botoxing the nose, how soon before the "Bunny Lines" on kidman soon disapear...along with what little "expression" kidman has left! And I just assumed prior to this article that "Bunny lines" were just in reference to her flighty fansies! So, see here...

then: no "Bunny Lines" Now: "Bunny Lines"...

...and now, only a few weeks of filming with aniston...kidman has the gossips railing at aniston...

...and more on those "big dumb lips...

http://trueslant.com/mikeharvkey/2010/05/11/big-dumb-glasses-and-other-important-lessons-from-the-80s/

"But probably the biggest way in which we got it wrong in the 80s was this: all our actresses started getting plastic surgery. Before long, previously pretty actresses at the top of their games started rocking a close cousin of the big dumb glasses look: big dumb lips. Only the big dumb lips have proven to be a hell of a lot harder to take off.""And suddenly we had a bunch of thin-lipped perfectly normal white girls trying to look ethnic, at whatever the cost, to their pocketbooks, their faces, their careers, their souls. We can’t all be Angelina Jolie, people.""And while former screen queens like Meg Ryan and Melanie Griffith, and slipping screen queens like Nicole Kidman race the clock with timebomb tissue tick, tick, ticking away, their sexy, seemingly natural counterparts, led by the likes of Mary-Louise Parker, Holly Hunter, Sigourney Weaver, and Katherine Bigelow, have climbed on top of their shoulders to stand tall, staring into the camera with the faces, and bodies, that god, and their personal trainers, gave them."

...slipping? I'd say she has competely fallen off the "reality" thing!

Thank you, Thank you,

I'd like to thank Maclen for all the hard work, he makes it look easy, pulling together these facts, knowing these stats and having these archive comments at the tip of his fingers, but it isn't, and we know it, but yet, he does it, day after day, without complaining, he's like the rock we build upon, so a big hoosier THANK YOU to the biggest skeptic of us all!!!!!

I was expecting this comment, it was actually a little mean of me to bait the fansie monkeybunnies that way. We all know I could have said BB King is a better guitarist than KU, and they would have said it was because Lucille is broken in. Eric Clapton is a better guitarist, that is because I am old and half deaf, Mark Knoppfler is his master must be because Keith's amp isn't working correctly, the list would be infinite. I am, however, a bit disappointed I didn't get feedback on the "falsetto yelp" I liked that. A lot.
I guess, really, all I have to say, is this:

Keith Richards is likely to snort Keith Urban some fine day.

maclen, I know how 123xyz, or as 345bucklemyshoe affectionately calls her "Markie", knows how many fans were there for Keith only! There are many "fanatics" who will go to Keith events, and they will make little signs to put on their purses or pieces of clothing which reflect their screen names from various fan message boards. This enables other fans to identify them - sort of liking carrying a red rose on a blind date! Can you imagine grown women doing this?

Well, hoosier...it is the highest form of compliment to receive it from someone who would just as deservedly receive them from me! But I've been sharpening this schtick for a few years now...everyone has hobbies! Now to "Keith vs "Keef"...I know what you mean...and orb's lead vocal on Fallon would not have been "drowned" out if that darn sound mixer has just done his job! When I first read that comment, I immediately thought of my fave Stone's song...'81s "Start Me UP"...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ed36UQX8kXQ

...and what I expecially love in this song is the "guitar play"...the strumming and jousting between "Keef" and ronny wood. The funky swirling and complexity of that musical jousting...that single "bent" note appearing at just the right moment... is miles beyond what I hear of orb's rather basic and mundane riffing! I mean, I'm sure today's teens would also say that Justin "leave it to" Bieber is a WAY better singer than say, that Elvis dude...whoever he was! It does get that ridiculous!

Yeah, blue sky, I understand that fans go to concerts decked out in pins or t-shirts...but surely, as I point out, 225 fans of the orb were "self identified" at the fallon show? But ex-why? didnt make that claim... the claim was he/she spoke to every one of the 300 at the show and he/she counted 75% of the crowd were there for the orb! And also claimed that the warm up comic spoke to every person in the audience and asked them who they were there for...and that 225 people answered for the orb! Clearly, I call out BS on a delluted fansie who is pulling numbers and percentages out of their...minds....and offering them as fact! Well not in here are they gonna play that game...they are just gonna get mocking and derision from me!

You know what Maclen, I've got one word for you, WHATEVER!!

For everyone else, I can tell you this. Keith fans were told almost a month before the show that Keith would be a part of the Rolling Stones tribute. Jimmy announced it on his show. The very next day it was on Keith's site for those who missed the announcement. Tickets were available that same day. They were gone by noon of that day, all 300 of them (actually 298 I read the sign that said seating capicity was 298. Sorry I rounded up the 2 extra seats. I didn't realize everything had to be so specific around here). I know they were gone by then because that's when I heard about it. I called and the tickets were gone. At the time tickets were still available for all the other nights of the Stones tribute. I was offered those tickets and declined them. It wasn't announced at that time that Evangline Lilly or Keenen Thompson would also be on the show. So their fans weren't able to get advance tickets for the show. Their fans wouldn't have known they were going to be on the show until a week ago when the tv listings go out.
I was in the stand by line. Which means a lot of standing around, waiting and nothing else to do but talk to the other people waiting. Do you want to know how many Evangline Lilly fans were there?
1, that's right I said 1. and his name is Mason, he's a senior at Hofsta University. Studying communications. He's a huge fan of EL. Met her 3 times already and he only found out she was going to be on the show the night before. I could go on about Mason if you'd like or the other people I met and spoke with. When you spend hours in an area with people you get to talking. I didn't talk to anyone who was there to see Kennen and I talked to a lot of people on Tuesday. As did my friend who was with me, so no I didn't talk to everyone in line but between my friend and I, I think we talked to just about everyone and the ones we missed, the warm up comic talked to. Obviously, you've never been to a talk show. Living where I do. I've been to Letterman, The View, Conan O'Brien, SNL for inside tapings as well as The Today show and GMA for their outside tapings. I've also been to Craig Ferguson in LA. The protocol is the same for them all. Going to these tapings involves a lot of waiting around, in an area where there is nothing to do. You can't leave because you will loose your place in line. So you end up spending a lot of time with these people. When there is a big guest on any of these shows, like Keith, the audience is usually made up of their fans. On the night when they have lessor known people etc, then it's usually just people who sent for tickets (like Letterman or SNL where you have to request the tickets 6 months inadvance) and got them not knowing or caring who the guests are going to be. That's were I'm sure the people who made up that 25% came from. They just happened to call that morning for tickets to see Jimmy because 1. they like Jimmy or 2 they were going to be in town and thought it would be fun to see a live taping.

Yes, Bluesky there are a lot and I do mean a lot of Keith fans who come to his shows/appearances decked out in Keith gear (T-shirts, sweatshirts, purses, totebags, photos etc. Some of the young ones even paint KU on their faces). They are definately easy to spot. I'm not one of those. I'm pretty sure Keith knows what he looks like, he doesn't need to look out and see his face across my chest. If you didn't know I was a Keith fan, you wouldn't know I was one.

Question 123xyz, if you standing in line, for hours and hours, and you can't leave your place in line because you will lose your place, then how is it you managed to mingle with all the other ticket holders - who also couldn't leave their place in line??? I mean, if I'm at the front of the line, how do I come in contact with the guy at the end of the line to engage in a conversation???

Or did you just have your friend hold your place in line while you took a survey of who was there to see Keith and the other guests???

Do you work? Does your job involve standing in line at talk shows? I think the point here is that while we are happy that you had sooooooo many friends in the line, and gee, we are just pleased as punch that there were 225.3333333 fok (fansokeith), (gee, it rhymes with what I'm thinking!) in the audience this wouldn't really have been a big deal if you wouldn't have picked it to pieces.

Can you and your monkeyrabbitpaws please hop on over to comment elsewhere? You are really seriously messing with our flow. I would just skip your comments, but it makes me feel rude.

Do any of you even read your responses before posting?? I mean really, talk about taking things literally. You all come off completely ridiculous. Are you still in grade school? Yes, I work. This was only one day. Once people established where they were in line, I could leave my friend to go and get something to drink or use the bathroom. She could do the same and leave me in line. You talk to people coming and going. In the bathroom, etc. Have none of you ever waited in line for anything?? I didn't pick anything apart except to say Keith had fans there. Overwhelmingly so. Obviously some of you can't handle that truth. Contrastly, what I've posted has been picked apart to the enth degree. BTW I'm not a bunny and have been around this forum and the board it came from since it's inception. Just because someone hasn't posted before doen't mean they are new. I remember the little "I hate Nicole Kidman" forum that you Maclen were posting on when we skeptics first took notice of you.
I believe this is a forum open to everyone. If you only want to have your opinion heard, bring it up with the monitor and go private. You don't want to respond to me, that's fine too. Then again, if the board went private no one but those already of the same mind would be able to read it and how would that help to get your message out??

@hoosierlady Normal? Uhm, sorry hun, there is nothing normal about this site (created to bash a married couple that none of you guys even know, knew, will know, or probably come close to). I'm guessing you all are grown - and considering that, there certainly is nothing normal about the crazy theories you guys come up (you guys have a very creative imagination) or your jealousy/hatred of Nicole Kidman for being married to Keith Urban (who, we all know, is gorgeous, talented, successful, and well, everything you wish you had but don't; and if you do, then you probably should stop wasting your time on here). Stop drooling over this happyily married man and go find yourself a man in ACTUAL LIFE. Who are we to say that they are not happy? WE DON'T LIVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEM. And whatever goes on between them, guess what? It's their life; they can live the way they freaking want to. Get over it.

Oh, and you can deny that you're jealous all you want, but we all know the truth. Hell, even I'm jealous! Nicole is one lucky bitch. He's hot as hell.

Ah yeah, the lick...very cool...so very 60's...and actually very subversive for the time! I'm sure the "society" at the time looked at it that way as well...probably had a "warning label" slapped over it on the album covers at some point in the 80's eh! Let it bleed? I say Let it Lick!

I find it funny that the normal ones have their panties in a twist over the current crop of fans for their "passion" in following Keith, wherever that may be (NY, LA, Cleveland, Whatever). Since when is acting superior "normal"? There once was a time when many of us did that, including the creator of this blog. We all fell under the KU spell for a period of time, did so willingly, formed friendships, woke up and moved on. I don't fault them for doing so, let them have their time in the KU sun, it will wain eventually.

And then there's maclen, who is not a fan and never was a fan of Keith yet just loves to tell anyone who is a fan that they don't know sh*t.

One of the things that has always pissed me off about this whole bunny skeptic thing is that if you are a skeptic you can't be a fan.
I am a fan. I like to watch the man perform. I am not a fan of his personal life and he chooses to flaunt it. Bunny folk didn't you like that you used to didn't know about his faults and failures? We got all that when he latched his wagon to her. The term that was first used was sideshow. It took away from the performance. Then the sideshow became a freak show.

I am a fan and I do really think he is one of the best guitar players out there. I really don't want to know what he eats for breakfast nor do I care if he calls me by name at a concert.

So, to the latest on the orb's current Promo...

http://blog.cmt.com/2010-05-14/keith-urban-you-and-bbq/

"I'm sure Keith Urban has played plenty of intimate concerts in his lifetime. Maybe you've even gone to one of them. But nothing could ever be quite this intimate. It's a private backyard barbecue and Keith's private concert for you and three friends (who are worthy of sharing the country love with) and a handful of other folks."

...boy, an intimate BBQ? Well apparently the orb is much much closer to appearing "at a local county fair near you" sooner than I'd even expected! Yes, and the BBQ sauce and the catchup are complimentary!
As for kidman, seems the lack of any recent "studio mandated" glut of photo ops involving kidman indicates her filming of her "best friend to aniston" bit role in the sandler flick is over. So that was a couple of weeks...that's just a few weeks short of time she spent filming the MIA and presumably mess that is Rabbit Hole, and is about the time spent filming her forgettable 10 to 15 min role in NINe. Well, it now seems probable that the start of the much anticipated Danish Girl is delayed.

http://www.thewrap.com/ind-column/mcgregor-blunt-going-salmon-fishing-hallstrom-17327

McGregor, Blunt Going 'Salmon Fishing' With Hallstrom

"I'm not sure what "Salmon Fishing" means for Hallstrom's next film, which was supposed to be the true-life tale "The Danish Girl," which stars Nicole Kidman as the first post-operative transsexual. Fellow Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow had been set to replace Charlize Theron as Kidman's artist wife, but her recent decision to drop out of the film may have further delayed the project, which was originally scheduled to start production later this month."

...yeah, well I am SURE, the film is DEAD...who is gonna pay to get this "kidman starrer" made...apparently no one...and who will now "co-star" in this dreck with kidman...surely...no one. Well, at least kidman surely has the time to attend the orb's "intimate BBQ!" She can flip the burgers...perhaps a new vocation...for surely it is no longer in films!

"One of the things that has always pissed me off about this whole bunny skeptic thing is that if you are a skeptic you can't be a fan."

I agree. I am a fan of his and a skeptic of their relationship. I don't like his wife. I didn't like her long before I even knew who Keith was. It would be hypocritical for me to like her now just because Keith married her. He chose her, I didn't. So I don't have to like her in order to be a fan of his. Think of couples you know in your own lives. You may like the husband and not the wife or the wife and not the husband. You don't have to like both. That's how I feel about KUNK. I do think their relationship over powers/ takes away from his career at times and that is a shame because he is a very talented musician in his own right. I'm not jealous of her nor do I want to be her but I also don't hate her and everything she does, just because she breathes. I am able for the most part to separate her from him and his career. There are times when he mentions her but that has dimminshed over the years and it takes up a few seconds in a 2 hour concert. I'm not going to let those few seconds to ruin my concert experience or my being a fan of Keiths.

Unknown said...

I second that ^. I don't like Nicole, either. I mean, I don't know her, but from the stories I've heard, she doesn't seem too pleasant. And it seems odd for someone like Keith to choose someone like her.

Anyways, like 123xyz said, I, too, can seperate her from him and his career.
