Well I have to say it is a cute video. Definitely not a Moosie girl one in it ! ((giggles))) Very refreshing even the blonde can not be taken for the Moose in her best day !! No way!! :D

Seems like it's endorsed by some biggies here.

I guess Moosie girl is just going to have to swallow the fact she is soooo over the hill!! ((giggles)))

HEY HEY were the Monkees!!!...

...post apocalyptic...

...so just noticed...this video was posted 3 days ago on Youtube and ONLY has 232 views? Yeah, the UNDERWHELMING power of orb's online power strikes again!

Yes maclen, I know it may not go very far. But ((gee)) it is cute and after all my dear it is summer! (((giggles))))

Hey - don't knock the Monkees.

Keith was the oldest person in the video- that is sad. I don't remember that song had a surf verse - I still don't hear it but you know I am older than several of the people and their ages combined so I could have just missed that part.

It will appeal to its target audience- thus it does not appeal to me- Keith's eyes look really big and I got frightened- don't watch this on large screen.

I did like the song
you will notice the word
did.....

Hatti said...

Awe Tara don't say that it is a good song. Heck there are so many dumb songs out there now. Look at TS....You're So Mean. Now come on let me get my lollipops out and we can have an all day sucker!! At twenty one in my generation you were all grown up!

The funny thing Moosie will make a deal with Target and he will play mini concerts for WM! ((giggles)))

The Monkees were a complete fabrication. They were actors "cast" as musicians for a tv show. Sure, they could sing a little, Nesmith and Tork could play guitar...but when it came out that they did not play on their hit songs...there was a MASSIVE effort by them to "defend" their "legitimacy"...despite as it turns out they did not. Their hits were written by professional songwriters...mostly the team of Boyce and Hart and a few by Neil Diamond. And I quite liken the orb to the Monkees in that regard...ironic he tags his minions "monkeys!" Orb is a very UN-prolific songwriter...I think in the 20 years since he released his first album, I counted about less than 20 songs orb has written solo. And as I also noted, orb had 13 different co-writers for his current cd. Being a complete utter NON fan...ever...of the orb...I find him too superficial and shallow. I find it laughable that even at this stage of his career...he still sells himself as "beefcake." It would surely be to a serious and more "thoughtful" musican a complete embarrassment to still be "noted" in concert reviews for his "frosted highlighted" hair...his "tight jeans" and "lean frame" causing middle aged ladies in the crowd too swoon... as if they were teens and tweens squealing with "bieber fever." Though in orb's case, I would refer to it as "monkey mange." And as is the facts of orb's declining cd buying fanbase and as I also believe his declining tour attendees...orb IS NOT picking up any more non fan converts. And I mainly attribute that to his superficial and shallow image.

maclen said...

...post correctively...

...so let me retract my previous comment on orb's Youtube impotence...which I still believe...but I just noticed it was posted today...NOT 3 days ago. I must have seen 3 days and not the 3 hours. Being as Ive been slightly distracted lately from my usual "orb crash watch"...I'm as they say, "behind my times." Still believe orb is an "online" dud...I wouldn't be surprised if orb is still the LEAST viewed youtube channel of the country acts. The last thing I want to do right now is give some overhyperventilating monkey an excuse to come out of the woodwork and whine I made the error! Ha!

Hatti said...

Yes maclen, I know it may not go very far. But ((gee)) it is cute and after all my dear it is summer! (((giggles))))

Well, actually Hatti you may have a point there that I could expand on. As I see, along with the orb's rather fluffy and one dimensional persona, there does seem to be alot of that..."it is what it is" and will, as Tara points out, "appeal to his target audience." Clearly, orb is at a point where he is simply aiming for the bare minimum. Why he has gone gung ho to suddenly uber please his live show fansies. He must realize he is in decline...so he is putting in alot of effort for the fanbase he has left. Now as to "converting" new recruits...his lack of complexity I say will hinder that.

Hatti said...

Gee maclen why don't you tell us how you really feel!! (((giggles)) Now you sound like I do about Moosie!! But Moosie deserves it she hurts people!! Hoping it will come out now that Rupie is in trouble.

Now I think he has written some very good songs maclen. On the past few CDs not so much but there is a reason for that. It is called not letting Moosie reap any harvest from him!!

I believe someday he will have another really good CD out. And really when it comes to country well tell me how deep is a truck,a can of beer drinking with a girl on a back dirt road!! Chicken and biscuits can just go so far.

Toby Keith I really like a lot but b/c he is out spoken and writes and sings the way it is never wins a d@mn thing.

So I guess what I'm saying is what is deep in country?? And today what is deep with Beiber, TS, or any of the others.

None of them can play a guitar like KU. Now that is the truth. He can play with the best of them.

So if we compare all of the country stars there are very few that are singing anything meaningful. Sugarland can make any song sound meaningful. But the songs Jennifer makes meaningful she didn't write.

BOORRRRRRING! As far as a comparative to his opening act's summer time song "Barefoot Blue Jean Night", Jake has released a more energetic video that you enjoy and have fun watching. I almost fell asleep during this one.

Actually back to the Monkees-
Both Tork and Nesmith were working musicians. Nesmith went by the name Michael Pilgrim and Tork played in folk bands and with his friend Stephen Stills- Davy Jones was in the London cast of Oliver in 1963-4
Micky Dolenz was Circus Boy on TV in the 50's- so they did have some talent. The music for the first year was coordinated by Don Kirshner who used Boyce and Hart, Carol King, Diamond and many others left from the Brill- what was discovered was that all four of the Monkees had musical talent- Micky could sing Davy too. However for the first 2 records Kirshner used studio musicians- Glen Campbell, Neil Young both played on some songs. As the demand to tour built
the four Monkees wanted to go out and become an actual group- they did and by late 67 Kirshner was out and the Monkees produced wrote and played on Headquarters then they toured with Jimi Hendrix being the opening act for a few shows. The frustration at the TV scripts and the lack of support for their musical pursuit led to a lot of strife and thus the movie Head was created to blow up the image- While they are called the prefab four they are also one of the most sited bands by many famous musicians as an inspiration. Eddie Van Halen, Several member of Metalica, Bon Jovi and Michael Stipe have cited them. Stipe even said in an interview that they were more important to him than the Beatles.

Back to Keith- what happens if this song doesn't get into the top 10?
And CMT 20 most important men in Country and Keith is #5. I remember back when the fans votes would have made him 1

As for Keith as a songwriter- there is a lot of stuff he hasn't released. I think the best song he has written by himself is I told you so, good lyrics and the music is experimental- something that Rolling Stone encouraged in their review of the pain CD- its too bad he got waylaid by rehab and Kidman to further that path.

maclen said...

Well, Hatti as I mentioned, I am and never was a fan. I have the luxury of not having any "past, present or future" allegiance to orb. I dont have the need to make any effort to find some kind of 'silver lining" to his career. I do not have a deep rooted "desire" that he gets free of the obvious ball and chain of a sham marriage and return to his past "glorified self" as I NEVER saw him as that in the first place. So just as his singles obviously have no effect on his mediocre cd sales...this single and now the video wont change much in my mind as it pertains to his declining career. So it makes no difference to me if it is fun or the song is catchy and a toe tapper. To me orb is a mediocre talent, and his decline simply verifies it to me...whether he's attached to kidman or not.

Hatti said...

If he wasn't waylaid by The Moose he would be a happy camper!! I hope someday soon he will be happy. Not just when he can get out on tour and be himself for awhile. :)

hoosierlady said...

Tara said "I told you so, good lyrics and the music is experimental- "

What makes that song, music or lyric experimental?

Tara said...

What makes I told you so different from most Keith songs is that first its a complete song - some of his songs maybe one verse and a complete chorus that is repeated over and over again. What really makes this song special is the use of percussion
and celtic overtones in the music. Yes, he isn't the first to use a drumline or Irish music but he used them both effectively in the song that built up to the one line that totally turns the song around in its meaning where he does say "but I told you so" and said with a snear.

There isn't a desire here to get him out of the marriage but its pretty obvious he can't multi task and compartmentalize and the career has suffered for it.

and now to the weirdest picture I have ever seen of Keith. Yep this one even surpasses Donatella meet and greet pose in London in 2006. In this months Vanity Fair is a picture of Keith and Fran Lebowitz- I think there may have been someone else there and it was cropped but she looks so uncomfortable with him and his stained suit at the Murdoch movie premiere. And Keith is just smiling away clearly out of his element.

hoosierlady said...

I will agree that writing more than one verse and an infinetly repeating chorus might be experimental for the orb.

As I was checking to see if he had in fact actually written I told you so, (he did) the interview said he wrote it using a banjo and a drum machine.

Lots of songwriters use drum machines, but monkeys have an over-inflated idea of what the orb is capable of. I just want everyone to touch down to earth and remember who you are speaking of, this is still Keith Urban, the same guy who sells himself as the barefoot poet boy, slaving away songwriting while pining for a lost love. Not! From what I have gathered this person was never up front with his monkees, not about always having a woman waiting at home while he entertained others on the side, not about substance abuse, not even about who wrote his material.

He was perfectly happy letting his fan base think the PR was the truth, and if it wasn't for blogspot such as this, I truly think you'd still have the hook, the line and the sinker firmly in place.

So, once again my suspicion is validated by this week's sales stock numbers...

http://www.roughstock.com/blog/august-17-2011-chart-report-luke-bryan-shakes-it-to-1

Jason Aldean My Kinda Party 35,687 1,695,522

Zac Brown Band You Get What You Give 17,971 1,122,860

Taylor Swift Speak Now 14,051 3,605,036

The Band Perry The Band Perry 12,022 702,785

Kenny Chesney Hemingway's Whiskey 8,400 916,270

Lady Anthebellum Need You Now 7,580 3,612,443

Rascal Flatts Nothing Like This 6,675 939,551

Sugarland The Incredible Machine 3,343 1,038,525

orb ??? ????

...orb once again DOES NOT MAKE this weeks list. I believe that is now 3 out of 4 weeks that orb does not make the list. The last cd sales are 2,401 cd sold, so I would assume orb's number is at about 2k now. Now take heed that this is at the mid point of orb's supposedly "very exciting" tour. Orb also is not included in the review of this weeks sales. NO mention of his just released video for his summer single. NOw you'll notice that Ive just now included The Band PErry's cd sales. I just noticed that Perry's cd WAS ALSO released last year in Oct when orb's cd came out...as was the Flatts cd. The Flatt's cd is now at 939,551...and the band Perry's is at 702,785 for a lead over orb of about 75k MORE cds. And what is significant to me of course is that the Band Perry will be OPENING for orb in a few months in Canada! So, chock up ANOTHER instance where orb's opening act will have also out sold him in cd sales!

Hoosier, let me offer something for the sake of argument:

Keith has never been up front about his lovers on the side, the one night stands and even his sexuality and the quiet, persistant questions about it. I agree with you here.

But he has spoken of his crack addiction, pre and post-Kidman, without prompting. He has spoken of it, written songs about it, and not hidden it away. Frankly, I find talk of it tedious. So must he, I suspect, as it seems to be nothing more at this point than yesterday's news. He looks to have it in hand. (No small feat, I'll give him credit for that.)

He's also spoken of how he prefers writing partners, so I find it unfair whenever he's taken to task for rarely being a solo composer. It's not his style or preference, so I'm willing to cut him slack there.

But he bullshits when it comes to his wonderous marriage and the perfection that is Kidman. That's what I find so irritating. No one--NO ONE--can produce such a perfect marriage, and that's where his credibility falters. Especially him with his history of stormy relationships. When asked if he and Kidman ever argue, he punted. "Sure," he said. "We're a passionate couple!"

He's straight up about certain aspects of his life, but he's tap dancing about others. I'm willing to give him credit where he's earned it, and to be skeptical when he hasn't.

Tara said...

This is a comment from Chelsey Handler in this months Esquire
"I don't want to hear Nicole Kidman talk about her new movie I do want to hear from Nicole Kidman's neighbor about what's going on with Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban when he is pretending not to drink."

He was asked about his sobriety in a couple of recent interviews and he said he prefers not to talk about it. You don't have to wonder do you?

Hatti said...

A440 yes what you say is true. Lets try this on for size. If you had certain stipulations in your contract with your employer that said, You will promote this product. You will convince everyone it is a wonderful product. You will make it believable.

Your job is to carry out this responsibility and be on call when you are needed just like a chauffeur. I guess you would have to say he has done a bang up job. So much so that we are sick to death of the dribble. We are sick to death of reading and seeing all the garbage.

We see his audiences holding their breath all through his show for fear he is going to mention those two dreaded words!! BG!!!!!! ((giggles))

So what I would say is....knowing KU has always worked hard at his job I guess he is working overtime being Moosie girl's lackey!!!!!!

Now the KU I knew kept his personal life as close to the vest as possible. The people he truly loved he kept behind the scene.

His use of drugs was the Mooses way of bringing him out and he tried to use it to get out of this when he found himself in way over his head.

I know she is a vile...insolent... filthy wretch. I know there is nothing between them at all!! I do know what Rupie would do to him in the media if he doesn't do exactly what he is told. Now that is the absolute truth.

TC still pays a lot of money to her to keep her away from him and his kids. He pays it so Rupie doesn't slander him. And yes TC has a lot of money but Rupie has more and power to boot. For some reason he does Moosie's bidding so she must have something over him too.

Now that his power is slipping we will see her curtain come down and it is a very dirty curtain indeed. From her dirty videos to her cousin PA incubator.

I hope KU will have the strength to tell the truth one day and I hope people will have the courage to print it!!!

hoosierlady said...

You are right, he is upfront about so much, it is hard to believe that he would misrepresent himself in anyway.

Using a drum machine to set the rhythym for his song is experimental, perhaps it was an experimental drum machine. I am glad he writes in partners, but it wasn't so long ago that most everyone commenting on this blog thought he wrote every word of every song. Maybe I dreamed it. Yes, I know, he can play his guitar while doing a backbend, that sure has never been done before either. I thought he had a bad back, no, my bad, he always represents himself in a truthful, honest way.

Perception is 90% of this "artist's" talent.

I'm going back to my corner now.

A440 said...

He was asked about his sobriety in a couple of recent interviews and he said he prefers not to talk about it. You don't have to wonder do you?

Holy shit. This I didn't know.

Jeez, I hope Handler is wrong.

Hatti said...

I don't think we have to worry about that. I think he is tired of having his life out there like his laundry hanging on the line, aired in public. We have dryers for our underwear he has no comment for his sobriety!!

Hatti said...

Hoosier his back was injured a couple years ago. Moosie girl tried to make it a big deal about him taking pain killers. She pumped it up much more than he did. So now I guess he is saying I'm fine or I couldn't do this.

I'm sure when she sees there is no more pretending you will hear all about his addictions again and I'm sure she will try to make it sound as if he is using and womanizing all of it. When in reality she is the womanizer and she continues to use drugs daily!!! Now that is the truth.

Just remember I said it first ok? So when it comes out you can say d@mn she was right on target!! ;)

Tara said...

I think the Handler comment is interesting because of her friendship with Aniston who made a move with Kidman and spent time with both Keith and Kidman then and when she was with Mayer.

He is right to shut about sobriety
he got burned in the past because he would say he was sober and it turned out he wasn't. Sobriety is something that is hour by hour minute by minute and its not something you can say well its been 4 weeks and everything is going to be fine. I just think its weird that interviewers are bringing it up again when it kinda was killed by the Nicole is my god talk by Keith.
As for womanizing - with the exception of some rumors last summer this hasn't been a factor for a very long time. I just figure he probably has a lot of porn to view in his part of the house.

Hatti said...

Yes Tara...Moosie girl brought to the public things about KU that are true and many that are lies!! She has made him look like he is the worst person under the sun and she is his savior!

Well Tara I know there is only one savior and as much as I would like to see her on a cross it would be made from the devil himself. She is a very bad person!!!

I think everytime he tries to break away she uses something over his head to keep him in line. Just like she did with TC. Well you can control a person for just so long and then no matter what the consequences they're going to bolt!!

I think Moosie girl tells the interviewers what to ask KU. She knows he is not promoting her at his shows so she wants everyone to know the savior is alive and well.

Maybe he is sick of living a lie!!!

As The Worm Turns there go the days of KU!! ((giggles)))

Yes. That's also Nicole whoring out her child. Something she swore, up-down-and-sideways, that she would never do.

I wonder if she ran this past Keith first. Or if he raised any objection.

So, finally...there is actual data...a few hard numbers on orb's current tour that can be analyzed and compared to orb's last full on tour in 2009. As orb's tour began, I had my eye on ANY indication that orb's tour numbers were...as I suspected as orb started this tour 6 months AFTER his album dropped...that he no longer had a "recording contract" with capnash...therefore undoubtibly had no "backup" for any costs of this tour...and the fact that NOT ONE elite country performer of the massive amount he had in 2009 would be opening for him in 2011, except the lone and relatively unknown owen...and that indication was the occasional review that were revealing very paltry attendence numbers to his shows. The numbers were basically in between 6k to 10k...with a few stand out numbers like the one in Nashville. But I felt the trend revealed a downward trend. So onto the numbers, as orb makes his FIRST appearence on Pollstar's top 20 grossing tours...

http://www.cnbc.com/id/44192131

Top 20 Concert Tours from Pollstar

17. (New) Keith Urban; $440,658; $54.57.

...so as I pointed out a few comments ago, orb is at the midpoint of his tour with 30+ gigs so far...and as Pollstar now reveals, orb is averaging $54 in ticket prices and averaging $440,000 gross per show. Now, a quick comparison to orb's tour in 2009, pollstar reveals...

http://www.pollstar.com/blogs/news/archive/2009/07/10/678304.aspx

...(you can download the pdf file for the chart at the bottom of the page)...that after only 21 shows, orb was averaging $65 for tickets and was grossing $638,869 average per show...so, clarified...

2009
average ticket prices- $65

2011
average ticket prices- $54

2009
average gross- $638,809

2011
average gross- $440,183

2009
shows- 21

2011
shows- 30+

Now as 2009 also reveals, orb's FINAL average tickets prices and average gross remained relatively similar to his "mid tour averages...orb's final totals in 2009 were $63 average tickets and $712,078 average gross. And in 2009 orb's tour grossed $42mil. If orb's mid tour numbers hold relatively true as well, his final tour gross this year MAY be only about $29mil...give or take a few mil! And that of course would be what I fully expected before orb even set off on this tour. All indications point to it...so we shall see.

maclen said...

Tara said...
"So the single has jumped into the top 10 and its all over the radio
perhaps putting the video out when the song is released might spurt some growth."

So, the single is doing "relatively" well... while his cd sales have clearly fallen to 2k a week...with about 625k sold in the past 10 months...and based on his current sales he will sell about 38k more cds by this years end...19 weeks...or 4 months...for a total of about 660k cds sold after being out for 1 yr and 2 months...and Pollstar revealing this week that orb is averaging $440k per gig at the mid point of his tour...down from his $638k average per gig in 2009 at the midpoint. So I wonder, in what area will orb gain in any "growth" due to his single and the video doing well for orb on the Country singles chart? Simply more spins and airplay? And, to what end? And that's a serious question.

A440 run past KU? That is an oxymoron. The Moose doesn't run anything past KU ever!!

maclen, I don't know if this can be answered, but how much of this downturn can be attributed to the economy? Are other acts doing better this year over last, or are they also showing lower numbers?

If nothing else, partially those numbers for Keith show poor booking choices. For example, he plays Biloxi but goes nowhere near South Florida.

Dumb.

Yes...once simply MY OWN conjecture prior to orb's tour start...now clearly a reality...

http://www.kansascity.com/2011/08/20/3088143/review-keith-urban-impressive.html

Review | Keith Urban impressive, familiar in latest KC concert

"Keith Urban came to Kansas City Friday night. So did a small legion of semi-trailers with his name emblazoned on them. It has typically been a big deal when Urban plays in Kansas City. His shows have been sure sell-outs, whether at Kemper Arena or the Sprint Center.

Friday’s show was his third at the Sprint Center. For the previous two, he brought some high-powered openers: Carrie Underwood in March 2008 and Taylor Swift in August 2009. Crowds at both of those shows were huge — at capacity or very close. That Swift show was so sold-out there was virtually no scalping going on outside the arena. It was a must-see event.

This time: not so much. The upper deck at the end opposite the stage was hidden by the black curtain; and there were clutches and rows of empty seats around the rest of the arena. His opener was Jake Owen, a guy with two well-received studio albums on his resume (and another due this week) — a rising star, but not an arena-packer like Underwood or Swift."

Just as I have surmissed...orb is NOT such a sellout attraction WITHOUT "swifty, underwood, lady ant"...etc bringing those sellout level bodies into the seats... that the orb JUST DOES NOT HAVE the appeal to attract.

hoosierlady said...

Do the concerts usually pick up steam and ticket sells improve as the season goes along McClen, or do they get slower, and generate less ticket sales?

Have the other bands, the ones in the top 3 noticed a significant drop in attendance from last year? Or say, 2007?

Thanks

"maclen, I don't know if this can be answered, but how much of this downturn can be attributed to the economy? Are other acts doing better this year over last, or are they also showing lower numbers?"

Well A440, a similar look at the numbers, as Ive done for orb's numbers from 2011 mid point compared to 2009 mid point would show how other acts are performing...

chesney-

2011-$72- 34 shows
2009-$67- 26 shows
2011 average gross- $1,415,152
2009 average gross- $1,300,420
2011 mid gross- $46mil
2009 mid gross- $32mil
2009 total gross- $71mil

swift

2011- $70- 18 shows
2009- $46- 17 shows
2011 average gross- $2,107,143
2009 average gross- $530,602
2011 mid gross- $29mil
2009 mid gross- $9mil
2009 total gross- $25mil

paisley

2011- $46- 22 shows
2009- $44- 31 shows
2011 average gross- $542,934
2009 average gross- $464,151
2011 mid gross- $11.9mil
2009 mid gross- $14.4 mil
2009 total gross- $35mil

Flatts

2011- $42- 24 shows
2009- $54- 24 shows
2011 avg gross- $383,333
2009 avg gross- $687,142
2011 mid gross- $9.2mil
2009 mid gross- $19.2mil
2009 total gross- $42mil

...so, basically...chesney has remained level to his 2009 numbers this year...swifty has exploded over her 2009 numbers...paisley has slipped a little...and it looks like the Flatts have slipped alot from their 2009 numbers, which IS reflected in their cd sales as well. What jumps out to me, is that orb's current number of $440k average gross per show is very close to swifty's 2009 avg gross of $530k...and that the total gross of orb's FINAL gross for this year's tour as I figured using that $440k number is about $29mil...and thats ALSO very similar to swifty's FINAL GROSS of $25mil for 2009. So, is the terrible ecomony responsible for paisley's and Flatts' declining numbers? Well, not having looked at their careers or the quality of their recent albums as orb's...I couldnt tell you. People will have to decide for themselves.

Well, I would surely attribute that to the "tedium factor' to orb's rather tedius and very unchanging show routines. As it's now the mid point...I would surely expect more walkouts EVEN earlier as his tour progresses...as people grow weary of the years old routines and gimmicks that have remained UNCHANGED since the start of orb's tour!

"Do the concerts usually pick up steam and ticket sells improve as the season goes along McClen, or do they get slower, and generate less ticket sales?
Have the other bands, the ones in the top 3 noticed a significant drop in attendance from last year? Or say, 2007?"

Well hoosier, as my previous comment includes the touring numbers for chesney, swift, paisley and flatts' comparisons between 2011 and 2009 touring numbers...chesney remains basically steady...swifty gained alot...paisley lost a little ground and flatts lost quite a bit more. Now, basically grosses improve over the second half of the tours, but it's a little tricky to figure out when you look at the pollstar gross charts...as I should have mentioned that they are mid YEAR reports....and the acts have different touring schedules and the amount of gigs they have mid year and end year are all gonna be different. For instance, chesney's difference is easy to figure out for 2009, as chesney played 26 shows in the mid year report...and he then played 26 gigs to the end of the year report for a total of 52 shows in 2009. In the first half, he grossed $32mil...and in the second half he grossed $39mil for a gain of $7mil in the second half of his tour. Now, orb's is a little trickier...in the 2009 mid year report he played only 21 shows...and in the second half he played 41 shows for a total of 62 shows. The first 21 shows orb grossed $13mil...the following 41 shows he grossed $29 mil. Now if you look into those numbers you will find that the orb grossed an average of 619k for 21 shows...and he grossed 707k for 41 shows. Which would indicate a slight uptick in gross for the second part of his tour. But how much you ask? Well if you look at the first half total of $13mil for 21 shows...and then the $29mil for 42 shows for the end of year totals...that's twice the number of shows than the first half, and just over double the gross by $3 mill... so basically orb ended up grossing $3 mil more in the second half than the first half using these numbers. So, using my hypothetical total gross number of $29mil using orb's current average gross per show of $440k...using those calculations...orb COULD gross as much as $32mil for this year. And again, that would still be less than the $42mil total of 2009. And as Ive highlighted, orb's 2009 numbers remained pretty constant. So I would not be surprised if that $440k average orb is now grossing per show is basically what orb will end up with in the second half of his touring schedule...give or take... of course...

Keith Urban gets close to his fans

"More than 10,000 people at CenturyLink Center Omaha watched Urban play for more than two hours on Saturday night."

...more than 10,000 people attended at CenturyLink center Omaha....WOOHOO!!

...total capacity at CenturyLink center Omaha for concerts...

-18,300 seats...D'OH!!

-comment brought to you courtesy of Homer Simpson...

...8,300 EMPTY seats...only 54% of capacity...that's "unpossible!"

...that comment brought to you courtesy of Ralph Wiggum....

I was in Omaha last night and the show is the same with the addition of two songs. It is an entertaining show and the stage eats up a lot of the seating space and he looks exhausted.

on another board there was a note
about Keith's mum talking trash about Kidman. From what I recall there was a rumor that the senior Urbans were not that impressed (this is before Thanksgiving 2005)
shortly after this happened there was a story in Life and Style about Mum being more of a hindrance than a help. Then poof everyone is all hunky dory for Thanksgiving in Nashville.

Sounds like touring revenue is actually up this year:

Yes, I recall reading that, music. Seems the reason is while less tickets are actually being sold...ticket prices for the top grossers has gone up. More acts are charging and getting more than $90 for tickets than last year, etc. Which does prove that people ARE willing to pay higher prices this year to see their favorite shows. So, it is relevent then that orb's price per tickets are down slightly as is his average gross. In fact, using orb's newly posted ticket prices and average gross per show on the pollstar weekly chart...orb is now averaging 8,011 people per show. And that is down from his mid year average of 9,792 in 2009. So how are the OTHER current top grossers attendence doing compared to their 2009 mid year attendance?

Swift

2011- 27,885 tickets per show

2009- 11,421 tix per show

chesney

2011- 21,323 tix per show

2009- 19,278 tix per show

orb

2011- 8,011 tix per show

2009- 9,792 tix per show

So of the top country grossers, swifty, chesney improved their mid year average tickets per show over their 2009 mid year numbers...except orb, who is suffering a decline in avg tix per show.

I went to the Columbus concert and quite a few people started leaving before or during the encore. I went to Cincinnati and hardly anyone left. I think it depends on the city. The same thing happens at all concerts, maybe not Taylor, I don't know about her, but it happens at all other concerts I go to.

What I do know it that everyone around me appeared to be having a blast. I was on the floor about 5 rows back and there was a large group of young guys (six or seven) that danced and sang all night. There was couple of guys in the stands that were dancing all night. What I've seen in the past were a lot of guys being "drug" their by their wives or girlfriends. I don't know what this says about his fanbase, just an observation I made. No one sat down except for 2 songs, that includes the floor, lower and upper sections.

FACT CHECK: Before you freak out and over analyze the Chelsea Handler comment, you should know she actually said that in 2007. Here's the link

Read like a joke to me.

But nothing is really a joke anymore, don't you know that, Maggie? Everything has been orchestrated, right down to a TV priest and fake babies.

This has become so ridiculous it isn't even fun anymore. Reading MaClen's stats and trying to spell his name without looking is the fun I am having these days.

What ever you do, do not ask how Leery Hatti knows her wealth of information, because she just does, that's all, and that should be good enough for all.

Hey hoosier...sorry I havent got to your reply about Canada...I sort of got preoccupied... As to misspelling my (user)name...no sweat..I'll answer to maclean...maclear...whatever. As to handler...she came on the scene over at E! with a couple of shows I think...before her latest incarnation. She of course came in as the mad rebel who would razz anyone and everyone...but I figure now that she's a best bud of aniston...and now wants to court the "elevated" set for her show...she no doubt had toned down her screechiness! Unless it's in regard to jolie of course...HA! And yes, the hyperbole is getting pretty heated. But to be clear, kidman is now an absolute "nonentity" to me, any future comments...besides this comment to you hoosier....will no longer come from me on her. She is over. She is WAY to easy a target...she can be razzed by anyone in their sleep!
And I'm glad SOMEONE besides me can get jazzed over the stats...the numbers...those dancing decimals and swinging commas. And to be honest, the chart I made up comparing the grosses of each of the country artists is as facinating to me as the pictures I once used to paint a million years ago! Although numbers do not lie...they also do not change...and although some may find that pretty boring...the fact that there at a every moment a different arrangement to them on the horizon is what makes it so facinating.

Hatti said...

yes hoosier it should be. Many posters seem to know what they say is the truth and I don't beat them up about how they know this or that. If it isn't true I will say no I'm sorry but that isn't the truth. I still don't beat them up.

There are a lot of people that believe what they read, I understand that. But you have to understand Moosie girl has a very powerful media mogul in her back pocket. So in that case you cannot believe what you read. Pics are manipulated to look like they are current when they are not.

I have been very open that I know KU personally, before he was bought and paid for. I know the real person not the music person. I have never said anything else but people don't want that to be true. Can't help it that is the way it is.

So when does the press tour start for his perfume??

maclen said...

Well, hoosier...as Ive stated before I dont buy it whenever a fansie would come onto the blog and claim personal knowledge of the orb...and just my own personal standards...I cannot buy it even from a commenter I may agree with on a majority of opionions. People can claim to know anything on a blog comment thread...but since they may not be able to independantly back it up with anything other than their own comments...there is NO POINT for me to debate it. Again, I'm sure people MAY have personal knowledge...but trying to "seperate the wheat from the chaff"... doesnt get you anywhere on a blog. It only gets you what just occured at the E! Negative thread...a "deletion" of a rash of pointless comments that didnt really settle anything in regard to the orb. Now of course, if someone HAD come onto these blogs...who claimed that they had personal knowledge of the orb...and revealed that the orb would soon "check himself into rehab" back in 2006...BEFORE he actually did it...then of course they would have some pretty impressive beleivability! I'll simply stick with offering my opinion on what is going on...which is why I dont comment as much as I used to...I only comment when orb actually does or say something worth commenting on. Orb's PR BS...that "last minute" habitat for humanity photo op...I see "elmo is god in our house" for some reason is plastered again on the innertubes...ALL is pointless and worthless promo that quite simply is not helping orb in cd sales or his tour. So why bother?

maclen said...

Tara said...
"oh its all a fun mix here

So when does the press tour start for his perfume??"

I think I got into this "stats and data" on orb's cd sales and now his tour grosses...PRECISELY because the orb's monkeys completely IGNORE THEM! Before monkeyland closed off their message boards...I noticed NO ONE...besides maybe one commenter once asked if orb's cd, defying sales had gone platinum yet. THEY DO extensively talk and discuss daily orb's singles on the country chart. And as Ive mentioned before, that does not guage orb's ACTUAL popularity with his "fanbase"...it simply deals with the wheeling and dealing between the musicians pr hacks and record companys with the radio stations they cater money and "access" to said musicians in payback for "spins." So orb's cd sales and tour attendence "numbers" which guages the response to his actual fanbase of paying customers...ARE THE devlopments that should be looked at to measure just how well the orb is doing. ANd NOT whether the fansie's enjoyed his show or like his cd...because of course that is already a given.

http://www.bclocalnews.com/entertainment/128279183.html

Keith Urban sells out Penticton concert

"If you were waiting to buy a ticket for the Keith Urban concert next month, you may have missed your chance.

South Okanangan Events Centre announced this week that the Sept. 24 show is now completely sold out. From the first day of sales, tickets sold quickly for the show, which features The Band Perry opening for the country superstar, generating expectations that the show would sell out, as the Brooks and Dunn concert did two years ago.""

So, orb SOLD OUT a venue? WOOOHOOOO!

...well, let's see... the article doesnt mention just HOW MANY tickets were sold in this Great White North venue...

per wiki...

Capacity-Concerts: 6,500

...DOOOOHHH!

...6,500? If nothing else...the orb is consistantly...well, consistant! I guess the orb was DESPERATE for a headline like this...seeing how this show IS a month away!
And then that begs the question..."Just how POPULAR are The Band Perry in Canada? HA!

Hatti said...

Well maclen..KU has always done very well in Canada. He loves the people and they return that feeling.

With Band Perry added to the equation it will be a good concert. But with that said he has been carrying 6,500 to 8,000 consistantly so this is no great feat!!

Tara said...

Keith is uber popular in Canada
(actually almost a rock start popular) is there no doubt why he is taking Kidman and the girls up there
for the few weeks he is there- good press lots of pictures. His songs rise very high in the charts and he sells out venues. I know its hard to stomach for some but he is quite successful to the north.

Has anyone else seen the campaign that Camp Urban has put out to get him nominated for the CMAs? Big ass add in the trades with the for your consideration
ETOY
Male vocalist
Video of the year
Song of the year
etc
I have never seen this push before
too bad its for Get Closer and Without you.

Well, if this IS the first time orb put out FYC ads...he MOST certainly is now aware of his obvious receding popularity in all areas...and this certainly smacks of desperation to a shameless proportion!

According to Lainey Kidman has pulled herself out of Toronto. Interesting will they all be there now? Well, as I previously mentioned...the band perry are evidently more popular in the states anyways. As my next comment shows...the Band Perry's album has now sold 716,083 copies...to the orb's 631,618. You can see how poorly orb is doing when his album is being OUTSOLD by another country act's debut album!

This week's stock numbers...

http://www.roughstock.com/blog/chart-news-august-24-country-dominates-as-luke-bryan-still-top-dawg-

Jason Aldean My Kinda Party 37,380 1,732,902

Zac Brown Band You Get What You Give 16,150 1,139,010

Taylor Swift Speak Now 13,202 3,618,238

The Band Perry The Band Perry 13,298 716,083

Kenny Chesney Hemingway's Whiskey 7,314 923,584

Lady Anthebellum Need You Now 8,395 3,620,838

Rascal Flatts Nothing Like This 7,130 946,681

Sugarland The Incredible Machine 4,116 1,042,641

orb Get Closer 3,382 631,618

...so another gain...of 1k. Yeah, might be more impressive if he were selling at least 13k or 14k. So his tour...combined with the new single...amounts to a gain of 1k sales bump..from 2k to 3k. And of course, after the past 7 months of this rather impotent sales bump...I will be repeating this till the end of the year...when orb's sales MAY reach a very lackluster 650k cds sold!

So, tonight...a little bit of my "numbers racket"...

...orbs second appearence in Pollstar's top grossing tours weekly report...

http://www.newstimes.com/entertainment/article/Top-20-Concert-Tours-from-Pollstar-2141116.php

15. (17) Keith Urban; $454,988; $53.61.

last week...

17. (New) Keith Urban; $440,658; $54.57.

..so orb's avg gross rose by 14k and his avg ticket price lowered by a dollar. Now in my "calculating" mind...the thought comes up, "What basically can we expect to see week to week in orb's avg tour numbers?" Now, applying orb's already settled numbers pattern from his 2009 tour...where orb was grossing $638,809 avg per show at the mid year report and then ended up grossing $712,078 avg per show...that is a difference of $83,269 per show in the second half...so taking that "established" pattern...if I apply that to orb's mid avg gross for this year so far...orb theoretically could be grossing $523,449 avg per show at the end of his tour this year as opposed to the $712,078 in 2009. And using the 63 shows orb played in 2009...that would be a total tour gross this year of $32mil. Which would be $10mil LESS in 2011 than in 2009. That's a pretty sizable decline...a fourth in fact. Another factor to consider is that in 2009 orb had only played 21 shows at the mid year report...and then played another 42 shows to get to that higher avg gross per show. Now as orb's monkey site reveals...orb ONLY has 25 shows left to the end of his tour this year...17 less than the half point in 2009. That could mean LESS time for orb to raise that avg gross. In 2009, orb's certainly BEST grossing tour year...in 21 gigs orb grossed $13mil...and also recall that orb IS grossing less per show this year. So again, all my calculations are theoretical...and simply based on orb's established past performance...so it will be very interesting to see the actual final numbers!

Hatti said...

It seems maclen that... over all... this is not a profitable year for KU!! It looks to me as if we can honestly say promoting Moosie girl these five long years has done nothing!! His career is in the dunny as her's is.

I think you will see a slight increase in numbers for Canada as we did last year and previous years. But it will never overcome the decline that is so obvious!!

Well, it will a LESS profitable year for the orb for sure, Hatti...that's why he's coming out with his own "fragrance"...to try and hide the stench of his decaying career!
So, Billboard now has a few more "indepth" data stats for me to eagerly chomp my teeth into!

http://www.billboard.com/events/hot-tours-bon-jovi-enrique-iglesias-keith-1005330472.story#/events/hot-tours-bon-jovi-enrique-iglesias-keith-1005330472.story

3 KEITH URBAN
$3,090,932
July 28-Aug. 16
Verizon Center, Washington, D.C. (1/0)
Arena at Gwinnett Center, Duluth, Ga. (2/0)
Bridgestone Arena, Nashville (1/1)
U.S. Bank Arena, Cincinnati (1/0)
Thompson-Boling Arena, Knoxville, Tenn. (1/0)
INTRUST Bank Arena, Wichita, Kan. (1/1)
60,783 (72,970)

...so taking that "indepth" look...lets see what we find, huh.

Orb grossed $3mil over 7 shows...

(quick notation: orb will end up with I believe about 60 shows this summer, give or take...7 shows divided into 60 gigs is 9...and 9 X $3,000,000 = $27mil..that's looks to be in the ballpark!)

...so 7 shows divided into $3mil is an average gross of $428,571 per show. That certainly correlates to Pollstar's data. Billboard reveals orb had sellouts in 2 shows, one in Nashville with 14k...not too surprising...and another sellout in Kansas with...get ready...5.4k...even for orb that is WAY LOW! So in review, 7 shows orb ONLY had 2 sellouts. Data also provided, in two shows at the Gwinnett center in Georgia on aug 4-5, orb attracted a total of 16,441 people. And so...2 divided into 16,441 = 8,220 per show. That also in on par with Pollstar's numbers. And for a total of 72,970 tickets available, 60,783 tickets sold. So look at #1 grosser Bon jovi...ALL shows sold out...#2 Enrique Iglesias....all shows sold out...#4 Katy Perry...ALL shows sold out. So of those top 4 grossers this week...WHICH ONE is not like the others!?

maclen said...

...post scripted...

...also wanted to highlight those two Gwinnett Center NON sellouts. Orb averaged 8k per show...it is worth pointing out that the Gwinnett center ONLY has a capacity of 13k...and orb couldnt sellout either show. That's a total of 10k tickets orb COULD NOT sell to this obviously dwindling fanbase. That is alway relevent to point out! More than likely, his fansie's WONT get his cd anywhere NEAR platinum...and his tour is now taking a nosedive.

Hatti said...

Yep...Seems to me that he may make a few bucks but his career is to hell in a handbasket!!!

Yet he may make more than Moosie girl with all her dumb movies this year!!! (((giggles))))

Maybe off subject but if there is any doubt about Keith's staying power in the music business you should have been in the Cajun Dome last night for his concert. The man performed & ENTERTAINED for 2 1/2 hours. There was never a quiet dull moment of the whole night. He hit every area of that place & nobody left until he was all done. He covered old stuff, new stuff & some other stuff but he played & sang the HECK out of every song. He interacted with the fans & the fans gave back to him. He deserves to be Entertainer of the Year. I had 2 friends with me & one has seen him twice like I have the other had never seen him in concert. Both of them said it was the BEST concert they had ever been to (one friend has been to a LOT of concerts by artists of different genres). He gives it all during his concerts. It's not just about him either, it's about the music. It's about that little space in time when he connects with those people who have taken time out to come see and hear him perform. It's like he could have gone on all night and nobody would have left. He interacted SOOOOOOOOO well with Jake Owens. It was really the absolute best concert I've been to.

So for those who are counting the days until he disappears I think you may have quite a wait. Who cares who he is married to, who cares if he sings love songs to her on stage (which he did NOT do last night-never mentioned her), who cares if some of his songs cross over to other genres the man has talent that just cannot be described. I know people who went that didn't even know his songs too well & they enjoyed the HECK out of the concert. Packed house & we were all singing, dancing & on our feet the entire time. Y'all I can't say enough about this man's talent. He has something that ONLY can come from a special place. It's in his blood, it's in his heart, he feels every note & his fans can tell

So, the latest orb concert review...

http://blogs.dallasobserver.com/dc9/2011/08/last_night_keith_urban.php

Last Night: Keith Urban at the American Airlines Center

...so is this actually EVEN more stale in person as it simply reads...

"He also performed a bit of "Silly Love Songs" as way of introduction to the song "Making Memories of Us."

"In classic Keith Urban style, he eventually came down into the audience to a small round stage. He performed several songs there, as it turned slowly in circles and then rose up above the crowd.

"Now who has the good seats?" he teased.

"Later in the concert, more audience interaction ensued. Urban invited two girls and a guy to come up on stage and sing the chorus of "Kiss a Girl".

"And when Urban sang "You Look Good in My Shirt," he stood right in the stands and actually gave his guitar to a girl in the audience who, from the looks of her when he handed it over, is likely still flipping out about it."

"Opening act Jake Owen joined Urban on stage and Urban led the crowd in singing Happy Birthday to him. The two of them then sang "Jack and Diane"

...and the "piece of resistance"...

"There are a lot of people here tonight who went through some really hard times," Urban said. "So, for whatever it took all of you to be here, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. God bless all of you."

...yes, MUST have been a rather paltry crowd if orb is "pandering" to the crowd about "hard times." So after 30+ shows of this exact tired routine and 20+ MORE...does this stuff get any riper? There is NO MENTION of the crowd size in this "review"...I wonder why?

"Critic's Notebook
Personal Bias: I'm an Urban fan and have seen him perform twice before.

...oh...no wonder there was no mention of the crowd size in the 21k max capacity American Airlines Center. But then orb DOESNT have much to brag about in regard to size these days! HA!

I stood with a friend at the ticket booth because she had somehow lost her ticket and needed it replaced. Thank goodness she had her I.D. and the credit card she used to buy it so it was replaced. The lines were long with people trying to get last minute tickets. They were told they could buy one ticket here and one there in the 300's sections but there were none available together and absolutely none left on the floor or in 100's and 200's sections.

So I would surmise the Dallas show was a sell out. I saw very, very few people leaving before the encore. Everyone was having such a good time they did not want it to end. But end it had to and Keith looked totally drained at the end. He gave us all he had to give and then some.

Well, as it seems that Idol's scotty mccreery's new cd is dominating orb's google news search...there seems to be an interesting little story...

http://www.theboot.com/2011/08/29/scotty-mccreery-keith-urban-song-the-ranch/

Scotty McCreery Album Will Include Song From Keith Urban

...well, that's pretty generous of orb...to use his so "prolific" songwriting talents to help out the newbie mccreery...orb will write a new song for mccreery's upcoming album...

""Keith Urban pitched a song my way, and it's one he did way back when he was part of the band called the Ranch. He's on tour right now so we don't know, but he said he might play guitar on the track."

HA! Yeah right! Orb CANT write HIS OWN SONGS FOR HIS OWN CD without an army of co-writers! So...pathetically orb is gonna throw a 14 year old song mccreery's way. No "extra" fuss or muss for the rather "unprolific songwriter" orb! I bet swifty WOULD have written a brand new song!

Personal Bias: I'm an Urban fan and have seen him perform twice before.

Well I have only seen him perform live 3 times & it's not because I didn't want to go more I work full time, have a family & I do have bills to pay. But I did drive from south Louisiana to Tennessee to see him perform at the Grand Ole Opry. I have all of his CD's, DVD's & I listen to his music every chance I get. I suggest his music to people who aren't normally country fans. It's not about going to EVERY concert it's about appreciating the music in any way you can. Yes there are many talented country musicians & I am a fan of many of them but I haven't gone to any of their concerts. Keith's concerts are worth making the extra effort to go to. His music will continue and so will he because of the talent, drive, and love he has for the it.

Not everyone here wants to see Keith Urban fail. I don't. I have been a fan for almost 20 years. What made me a skeptic is watching how his career grew in 2003. 04 and 05 only to be torpedoed by the involvement with Nicole Kidman. I am waiting for him to get to the level he was at
and I do believe he will when he sheds the succubus.

As for the Ranch song- it may be 14 years old but everything put out by the Ranch is so superior to Get Closer you end up saying what made this happen?

"I was at the Dallas show last night. There were no empty seats that I could see.

Oh well, that surely makes it official...the orb surely MUST have sold out the AAC in Dallas, right? Well, this says to the contrary...

http://www.theboot.com/2011/08/30/jake-owen-birthday-new-album-barefoot-blue-jean-night/

Jake Owen Celebrates His 30th Birthday 'Barefoot"

"The Florida native spent his birthday in Dallas with about 12,000 of his closest friends opening for Keith Urban Sunday night,..."

...so, taking into consideration that the AAC arena has a max capacity of 21k...and ALSO taking into consideration, as the fan above mentions that...

"The only totally empty sections I saw were behind the stage setup."

...which when you look at the venues website and the seating chart, about a third of the arena seats ARE NOT up for sale. So, quick calculations...a third of 21k is 7,000 seats... UNAVAILABLE for the Dallas show...which then leaves 14,000 tickets available. The Boot.com is claiming about 12,000 in attendence...so that then leaves about 2,000 unsold tickets...and therefore 2,000 seats WITHOUT people in them! Now, even I have had questionable doubts about the Boot's reporting...BUT I would take their independent reporting over a "fan" or even my own belief. Which so happens to be that orb is RARELY selling out his shows this summer. In other words, why would they report that orb's show had about 12k...when about 14k were more than likely available certainly in the massive 21k capacity AAC venue with about a third of the arena not available due to orb's "ferris wheel" stage setup and the configuration? So clearly, orb's Dallas show was, more than likely, NOT a sellout. As no posted review that I can see claims that show was a sellout.

Well, clearly my opinion is that from what I can see, orb is a very WEAK songwriter...and as I pointed out, he barely can write for his own cd without a boatload of co-conspirators! My comments were not to the quality of the songs then as compared to now...orb is simply too unimaginative and not very creative. It was very easy for him to "suggest" to mccreery to "cover" an old song of his than simply even "collaborating" with mccreery on a new song. And again, I doubt if orb has MANY songs in him anyways! Certainly orb's rather anemic album output bears that opinion out.

Hatti said...

Well now maclen...That really isn't true he has written a lot of songs. When he is inspired they just come falling out of his head!!

Since he has been... hog tied... road hard... and put up wet... he has needed slews of writers. 13 for just one song that had to do with The Moose!! ((giggles))

Of course now let's be truthful here... if I had to write a meaningful song about that wretch, I would need ((13 Wizards)) and just a little info? There aren't 13 Wizards to be found!! ((giggles)))

Yes he can still write good songs but why should he? To promote that media hound? I wouldn't want to be used..would you?? ;)

"Well now maclen...That really isn't true he has written a lot of songs. When he is inspired they just come falling out of his head!!"

Well Hatti, my measure of the orb's so called "songwriting" prowess is simply based on the songs he has been credited with penning, solo, since he released his first cd in 1991. And a count of orb's self penned ditties for the past 20 years comes to a total of 17 songs. Thats less than a song a year! When you look at say, "Put you in a song"...a song I mocked mercilessly when the lyrics were released...as being a pittance of "one verse and the chorus repeated 3 more times in a row"...is even more incredulous when you realize it was co-written by 3 whole writers. And then it is tricky to even wager how much imput DID the orb actually have in the final product. Did he contribute to any lyrics...did he simply work on the music? Hard to pinpoint. So, the only measure...17 songs in 20 years...not very prolific.

Puddy Tat said...

Well gosh...I guess all those ticket sellers should have checked with The Boot before telling all those ticket buyers that there was nothing left but one here and one there in the 300 sections. If they refused to sell 2,000 tickets, they probably don't work on commission.

blue sky said...

The articles at The Boot are supplied by the artists' record labels and are the same stories radio stations use for their news out of Nashville. I'm sure if there were 20,000 in the audience, it would be in the record label's best interest to say 20,000 versus 12,000. The number of seats that can't be used behind the stage are replaced by those on the floor.

So, you claim, in your own words... that "they could buy one ticket here and one there in the 300 sections"...and simply that NONE AVAILABLE TOGETHER...but you then claim to "surmise the Dallas show was a sellout?" Did you remain at the ticket booth until you were sure that the "one ticket here and there...but none available together" were ALL SOLD? See, the quandary here is "who's reporting on the Dallas attendence is MORE reliable, the boots.com or yours?" You admit that there WERE "one ticket here and there" available....just NONE TOGETHER...yet dont explain that you were still there to confirm your claim of surmissing the show was a sellout. HA! SO...I'll just surmise the show WAS NOT A SELLOUT by only two none sold tickets! One here...and one there! But...NONE WERE AVAILABLE TOGETHER! HA!

...so back to "reliabler" sources...Billboard reported on August 26...

http://www.billboard.com/events/hot-tours-bon-jovi-enrique-iglesias-keith-1005330472.story#/events/hot-tours-bon-jovi-enrique-iglesias-keith-1005330472.story

3 KEITH URBAN
$3,090,932
July 28-Aug. 16
Verizon Center, Washington, D.C. (1/0)
Arena at Gwinnett Center, Duluth, Ga. (2/0)
Bridgestone Arena, Nashville (1/1)
U.S. Bank Arena, Cincinnati (1/0)
Thompson-Boling Arena, Knoxville, Tenn. (1/0)
INTRUST Bank Arena, Wichita, Kan. (1/1)
60,783 (72,970)

...that in 7 shows spanning between july 28 to August 16 the orb sold out in only 2 venues and DID NOT sellout in 5 venues. The data also reveals that the orb sold 60,783 tickets out of 72,970 available tickets in the 7 shows highlighted. That's a total of 12,187 UNSOLD tickets in the 5 NON SELLOUT venues. And that, "coincidently" averages out to 2,437 UNSOLD tickets per NON SELLOUT SHOW. And that is REMARKABLY very similar to my own calculations on the orb's Dallas NON SELLOUT show...of 2000 UNSOLD TICKETS. But then again, perhaps Billboard did not have the luxury of having info from a fan in attendence at those 5 NON SELLOUT shows to reveal that "there were no empty seats...that they could see" to set them straight on the facts!
Clearly, the fansie's DONT CARE that the orb is selling out less venues this tour compared to his last one in 2009...or that he is selling less tickets per show...or grossing less per show. It's true...data from Billboard and Pollstar reveal the same thing...but they dont care... but obvioulsly some fans care that I am revealing those facts and dont like it...so they comment here obvious nonsense that his show in Dallas, they surmise WAS a sellout...despite their previous comment that they were at the ticket booth and "overheard" that they could "buy one ticket here and there..but NONE TOGETHER". Quite obviously, if tickets here and there were available...it most likely was not a sellout show! And again, that is NOT simply my opinion, that is Billboard's and Pollstar's data revealing that. My own bias IS NOT affecting those results.

Well Hattie, were clearly on different points...your talking mainly to "quality" due to his former "muse"...while I'm speaking to "quantity." In my mind, quantity speaks to orb's clear non "prolificness"... which I attribute to his unimagination and uncreativeness.

Add me to the 'stick a fork in it' club. I've been sitting back and watching the demise of anything resembling fun, honest, and/or skeptical. I'm not a "fansie", maclen. I'm an original skeptic who probably was on this board and blog before you ever found it. You have every right to post your facts and stats and Hatti, you're free to post whatever new "fact" you have about him, but let me tell you something; the original skeptics LOVED Keith Urban. We just didn't like that he seemed to be pulled into a relationship he really didn't want and we didn't like his choice (yes, CHOICE) of a wife. Maybe her presence has ruined his music for some but it hasn't for me. I still don't like her but I still think he's a great entertainer but apparently that makes me a fansie and not a skeptic anymore.

These boards have died because the extremist have taken over. I blame the MOD on E for that dead board. The day she made everybody choose a "side" was the day people like me couldn't post. Back in the day, actual conversations made it fun. Looking back at the archives, some of the banter and bickering was hilarious. Now if anybody says anything the least bit supportive of Keith, nazi Mimosa will direct them off the thread (hers, apparently) and not one person calls her on it. She tells everyone exactly what to believe and what it true and not true and what to think and who to ignore just like Verity does on the other thread. I'm surprised the big-wigs on E haven't noticed how much their message board has died in the last 2 years. And yes, I did confront her once NICELY and she threw it back in my face. No thanks.

This blog has become the same. The same 3 or 4 people are gun-ho on twisting and turning anything and everything to make him and her seems unsuccessful, unhappy, and unpopular. In REALITY, they are none of those things. Trying to talk to people who are DETERMINED to make that so is pointless and unfortunately, that's what's become of the skeptics. If you don't vocally consider him and his wife a loser in every way, shape or form, you're not welcome. You're called a "fansie" and apparently, you're opinion doesn't count.

Well, pat yourselves on the back. The bunnies didn't kill the skeptics. The skeptics killed themselves.

And Tara, I have to laugh when you say you don't want to see him fail. If you didn't, you wouldn't still be having conversations with those who are on a mission to do just that. You love to create speculation which is exactly what the TRUE skeptics hated to begin with.

I doubt this will be published because it's not skeptic enough but to whoever does read it and then deletes it, at least you'll know why it's so quiet in your world now-a-days. If I sound PO'd, I am. Seeing the way this turned out is like watching rats scurring for crumbs left by a once really fine restaurant.

...so as 'constant as the sun, moon hail and the snow...this weeks sales stock numbers! Excited?

http://www.roughstock.com/blog/august-31-2011-chart-news-pistol-annies-make-country-music-history

Jason Aldean My Kinda Party 29,054 1,761,956

Zac Brown Band You Get What You Give 12,963 1,151,973

Taylor Swift Speak Now 11,999 3,630,237

The Band Perry The Band Perry 12,388 728,471

Kenny Chesney Hemingway's Whiskey 7,087 930,671

Lady Anthebellum Need You Now
6,852 3,627,690

Rascal Flatts Nothing Like This 6,369 953,050

Sugarland The Incredible Machine ??? ????

orb Get Closer ??? ????

...so as orb once again falls off the top 25 list of country sales...just a few points to highlight..

-the Flatts, who released their album the very same day as orb...now lead orb's cd in sales by 320k cds...and at 953k cds sold, at their rate of sales, should reach platinum in about 8 weeks...or 2 months.

-the band perry, orb's upcoming Canadian tour openers, their cd which was released one month before orb's, I may have mistakenly claimed they came out the same month...has now sold 728,471 cds. That's 95k more than the orb's. At their rate of current sales, they should reach platinum in about 24 weeks...or about 6 months.

-chesney's cd, release on September 28, 2010, released 2 months prior to orb's...has now sold 930,671 cds. And at his rate of sales should reach platinum in about 10 weeks..or 2 and a half months.

-the orb's cd, released on oct 17 2010 has now sold about 633k...give or take as his numbers this week are not provided. At his rate of sales orb should reach platinum in 120 weeks...or 30 months! That's one year and 6 months...

...Now, every other artist...aldrean, swifty, zac brown, lady ant and sugarland are already at platinum sales. But orb's numbers are so unbeleiveably clear. But who knows...the RIAA MAY still give orb a platinum rating by mid year next year...when he may be set to release another cd...for about 700k sold...AND 300k shipped! HA!

Yeah, I'm not of the belief that once orb loses the "ball and chain"...he nessessarily gets his once thriving career back. He had his moment...and he blew it. If anything, he's simply branded himself as dull and boring and unimaginative as that old "ball and chain. What does he do after? Commemorate the pain and sadness of the broken marriage? I asked before his latest cd came out...what does the orb have to say, musically...besides his joy for his marriage and his family?

Well well...for a "DEAD" blog...this place sure got very busy! Oh no...this blog is now dominated by the "undead!"
So, Tara...that comment about the "roped off third" of arenas "replaced on the floor is very interesting. If true, that simply makes orb's lower attendence numbers even MORE telling. And I agree about the boot.com...as I mentioned before, they are simply "stenographers" for the artist's mouthpieces. And yeah, IF the show HAD BEEN a sellout...they most certainly would have touted it as such.
Now to the other comments...if you have a comment..make it...if you are "contradicted"...defend it. But DONT deny that this is NOT a struggle for the minds and hearts of the READERS! Ive said it before...I comment here to be read. If someone replys to my comments by addressing my (user)name...favorably...I will thank them in reply. If my comments are addressed by a commenter with a sarcastically toned..."spelling correction...I will invaritable reply, IF I'm in the mood... with a correction of a spelling error they have made...(that always hilariously happens!)...or a snidely accusing "get your facts straight!"...I will invaritably correct a facts error by the accuser! And yes, I support this blog...I am not a part blog owner...I am not a moderator. When it looked a few months ago that the other commmenters here may have all finally flown the coup...their interest in the orb waned...I made 3 or 4 straight comments myself, stating if I was the only commenter left...so be it! Because as I just said, I comment here to be read..NOT for replys to my comments.
If you cant abide by the E! threads rules and regulations and get yourselves banned...if you dont fit into the NEGATIVE or POSITIVE threads and dont like the tone or commenters here at Urban Myths...or if your own blogsites failed due to lack of interest or commentors...if there are less and less sites you can state your opinions without checks or contradiction... dont come complain to me. I cant give you the convictions of your own opinions. I cant give you the fortitude to weather the slings and arrows of your adversaries. If my pointing out that the orb's career is going downhill hurts your feelings...sorry, but that's what I think.

An original, true skeptic is one who finds both Kidman and Urban to have flaws. They are the ones who woke up and smelled the coffee and no longer believe Urban to be the barefoot poet and can admit he never was. They are the ones who know his new music can't be compared to the old. Then there are those who believe they are skeptics, but find all the fault with Kidman, and Urban does absolutely nothing wrong. They don't like the union because that means Urban is married. They will complain about the union and Kidman, yet they will continue to spend money on Urban's music and go to all the concerts that they can, while accepting this poor quality of music and truly believing he is better than ever. If you consider yourself an original, true skeptic, you are skeptical of KUNK period. You don't pick and choose what you like and dislike about them. If you still worship Urban, you aren't a skeptic at all. You are a fan, so don't trash his wife while putting money in their wallets. Your best place to hang out is Monkeyville.

Yes, that could be very telling, Tara. It would seem that the outlets for this...how should I refer to this "sect"... the "original" skeptics...who were orb fans who were simply upset when he hooked up with the ball and chain...BUT who nontheless still enjoy the orb's music and his shows...that the outlets for their version of the "truth" is dwindling? Banned from the E! threads apparently...I seem to recall that the "last orb fansie in the world" over at the E! POSITIVE thread just seemingly got banned for venturing into the NEGATIVE thread and defending orb "POSITIVELY"...and apparently having used two different usernames. Obviously this "sect"...is NOT content to remain, as per the rules and regulations of E!...to be positive in the POSITIVE thread...but feel the need to venture into that dark and harrowing land of the orb bashers and defend their idol. I believe that is the reason for this sudden pick up of orb defenders to this blog. Now of course....the NKUsers fansie site closed off their messsage board to public viewing last year...if it's not simply dead at this point as there are no news updates in the past 4 months. And it seems with the notices over there that even members may have problems signing in is not a very good indication of life over there! Then earlier this year...monkeyland closed off it's message board to public eyes. The two "anti urban myths and E! Negative thread" blogsites...the wretched "urbanmythsrevealed" and "skeweringtheskeptics"... the only two I was aware of...both puttered out after less than a year, I believe...although I recall a recent check that the "skewering" site had "made a comeback" in june...only now to be quiet the past two months. I suppose the only other place left for them is the JustJared comment section. I still get a kick out of checking it out...and seeing the negative comments "Hidden due to a low comment rating" and only having to click the "click here to see" link and....duh...reading them! HA! Yes...a rating of -28...like there are THAT MANY FANSIES still online!
Well, back to my main point...I suppose Urban Myths is the last place they can hope to express their opinions and defense of the orb. Well, all I have to say is, bring it on...until I get bored with you that is...

You make alot of good points, blue sky. There is alot of similarities with "skeptics" and religion. In that there are differing degrees of devotion and belief. Now when I first became aware of this blog, Urban Myths...I had been simply commenting on kidman at another site. So when I came here and read it...my impression of a skeptic was of a orb fan, who was NOT happy with his involvement with kidman and the hope that he would split with her. And in the past 4 years, ive seen all the differing "skeptics" you describe. And so therefore, in my mind, I am not a 'skeptic' as I was never an orb fan. I only heard about the orb when he hooked up with kidman. In my mind also, they are simply now two sides of a coin. Clearly, today I feel NO need to comment on kidman...I find it at this point, not needed. Now, ALL my attention is on revealing the orb to be falling in popularity...in his cd sales and tour grosses...and all the possible reasons for his decline.
So there ARE differing degrees to being a "skeptic'...as you point out...some like orb but not kidman...some no longer like orb or kidman. Now, me personally...if a commenter defends orb...to me they are an orb fansie...if they defend kidman they are a kidman fansie...simple in my mind. Now, to correctly define what a "true" skeptic is...it's alot like interpreting the bible...hard to find that "origin!"

Yes Hatti, that is more than likely true...clearly I believe it's all PR BS. But taking into account that for the past 6 years the orb has been virtually "wishy washy"and blander than bland. The reason his try at being the tween dream...what with his "frosted highlights"...tight pants and "shirt open down to the navel" schtick is not playing is that it's not convincing...and quite clearly the "domesticated dad and hubby" simply runs counter to his other "virtual" attempted persona of the "rock god" onstage he's playing on this tour. Even if he goes full rock-on on his next cd...he does not make it the "rock gods" front porch. The question would be...does he get back that fanbase he quite clearly has lost if he even goes back to what may be considered "country" by his former fans?

Whether it is a marriage of convenience or of love, it is a marriage that has created two daughters. Leave it lie.

I thought the issue was the music, and whether or not the music was good to begin with, are you a fan, or not, etc. etc. how you feel about the wifey, etc. etc.

I have been here for quite a while and remember starting my day here with coffee coming from my nose because some of it was so funny.

I MISS EVERYONE I want it back.

((giggles))) Well I guess before the Moose he was an unconventional county rock with some folk thrown in.

Now we all know Moosie girl didn't like country, not until Awfulstralia was being pumped up did she seem to change her mind. Well again so phoney like everything else in this relationship!! ;)

So I guess KU added a little more rock to the Pain album. What an appropriate name since he did feel the pain leaving the life he had to deal with the Moose.

And then more of the same in DG and now GC.

That is the telling part, these albums just drop more amd more to the bottom of the dunny!! Yet songs from his previous albums are still enjoyed by his audience!!

Maybe when all is said and done!!((One can only hope)) he will find his real country folk again and do it the way only he can!! ((giggles))

I just love being half a skeptic! ((giggles)))

Oh maclen you know it's ok to be half a skeptic on the NT thread as long as you don't defend KU too much! ((giggles)))

I do love a good debate! :D

So, the orb tour gross watch continues...

http://www.cnbc.com/id/44361080

Aug 19
17. (New) Keith Urban; $440,658; $54.57.

Aug 26
15. (17) Keith Urban; $454,988; $53.61.

Sept 1
16. (15) Keith Urban; $432,768; $53.03.

..so last week orb was up by $14k from the previous week and up two spots on the list...this week orb is down by $22k and down one spot on the list. Still hovering at that $400k gross and with only 21 shows left I doubt if orb has the momentum to raise that average significantly. The drop from the $600k average in 2009 to $400k this year clearly reveals less attendence...less sellouts...and yes...less interest in seeing the orb live. Certainly I DONT begrudge the fansie's who are going to his shows this year their enjoyment or pleasure at attending...I'm simply pointing out that there are LESS of them going. Just as there are less buying his cd. There is a "cause and effect" as to why its happening of course...and the fansie's should be concerned with it...for soon, as I have been chronicling, his cd sales continue to decline...his tour attencences begin to recede...at some point it will not be "worth" it for orb to put out another album or go out on tour.

Ok maclen...But now he is going to Canada and this part of the tour will go very well. His ticket sales will be up. So the average will be better by the end of this. Does that make sense? So we really won't know where he comes in until the end of this tour.

I don't believe it will be better than last year or the year before but maybe it won't be as bad as it looks right now.

Although maclen...I did say he was sabatoging his own career way before this tour started!! ;)

I like your thinking hoosierlady. Can't the same be said of the Cruise/Kidman marriage? Isabella and Connor weren't conceived naturally by Kidman either.

maclen...Like Grand Central Station! Oh wasn't that one of KU's train gigs?? (((giggles)))

maclen..I have found the more you tell the truth the more people will try to sock it to you. Talk about being around I've been around along time and this is just mind boggling to me!! ((giggles)))

Yes CP..I liked the open form myself where you could debate the pros and cons of this whole charade. But again people crossed the line and the thread was closed. People just can't seem to debate without getting angry. I personally don't understand that.

The only people that can cause me to get angry are people I love. So a bunch of strangers just don't cut it! :D

Blue Sky,

IMO absolutely. I personally feel if you want to find something about which to have a "lively discussion" our Nikkers, gives us plenty of fodder each and every time she leaves her dwelling place. There is no need to bring her children, adopted or otherwise into it.

May I also say, since we are on the subject, that I have been posting for years, and you guys know how I feel about the manipulation of the masses, the disingenuous behavior of all the plastic people in these positions. But, when it comes to the kids, whether they are being raised by nannies, or the "stars" (how ridiculous is that?) themselves, if the child was going to be raised in a place that was not a good environment and they were plucked out and taken into these people's homes. . . WHAT IS SO WRONG WITH THAT? While no, I do not think the plastic person needs additional acolades for the gesture, I do think that the baby will be raised with in a safe, warm home with a full stomach and a great education instead of the frightening alternative.

Thanks for asking!

Well what is wrong with it? When you manipulate a person into being your employee and then tie up children into it to make it look like a real relationship that is wrong.

A person should have the choice of whether their name should be linked with yours. And have a choice as to whether or not their name should be linked with children you acquire.

It doesn't matter to Moosie girl what the circumstances....she makes all the decisions. She acquired these children without KU being involved. He is just an employee!!

And talking about Bella and Connor TC and Katie have those children. Neither one of those children want anything to do with Moosie and visa/versa. So what good did it do for Moosie to be apart of their lives? Just to parade them around in the media to use them for her own purposes. As she uses KU and these children!!

I'm sorry but she is a self absorbed insane person. She has no feelings for anyone but herself. People like that do a lot of damage to others.

OK, let's get this clear.

You accuse me of personal attacks, yet you always feel the need to respond to my post.

One or the other. Either I get to respond to this, or do not respond to me, you cannot have it both ways.

Urban Myths, or mommy, whichever, do you need to moderate this? This is what is the problem as far as I am concerned.

Hatti said...

maclen.. On the NT board it's posted that KU has not paid royalties? Do you know how that works?

Hatti said...

Hoosierlady I have not attacked you.

I am stating the things that are wrong in this charade. I am attacking the method that Moosie girl is using to get her... PR...her red carpets...she is wrong to manipulate people's lives for her own selfish motives.

I understand you don't agree with me but as I have often said I have a right to state my view!!

hoosierlady said...

Fine, Hatti, then from this point forward you keep your opinions and I'll keep mine.

I am asking you nicely to leave me alone. I have a right to post here also. Everytime I post I do not need to re-read your "version" of events reposted to do nothing but incite me to madness.

All I am asking is for you to stop it. Comment on someone else, leave me alone. I am not a victim, but if I cannot post back to you without being made to seem like a monster, then it isn't fair.

Either you have to stop commenting on my posts, or I have to stop posting, it is as simple as that.

It isn't fair to me to have to put a muzzle on it for fear of hurting your feelings when you get to write roughshot over my opinions anytime you feel like it.

Its your call, I think you may need this forum more than I do.

Hatti said...

Hoosierlady...You don't have to worry about my feelings. We all post our feelings.

This forum is very fair. All our posts are reviewed before they are posted. So I guess that says neither of us are saying anything that is unacceptable.
