Kidman Needs New Material

This is the week where we will see if the Golden Compass will be a box office prize or another bomb. I can’t wait. During this lull in our Kidman/ Keith coverage I went browsing through that marvelous tool called Google. What did I learn? In the last twenty years Nicole Kidman has said a lot about her relationships.

Let's look at some of these statements about and from the tight faced Nicole Kidman.

"We are committed. I can't picture my life without him." as told to Liz Smith.

"He took my breath away- it was a chemical reaction."

"My mother said that we looked like two people who have always been looking for a best friend."

She was spotted dancing a very sexy dance for her husband.

They live quite simply: quiet dinners, trips to the gym, a movie night.

"I hope when I am 80 years old I am still married to this man."

"We vow to never be apart for more than three weeks."

"We are trying to find balance, but we are really just two gypsies."

"You have to go back to the simple things, holding hands, walking down the street, or spooning if you are lying in bed".

Wow, she is so committed! Maybe I was wrong about this whole Keith thing. Maybe it isn't arranged or fake or just not very believable. I was thinking about this as I was watching the video of Keith standing alone and sad at the London premiere of Golden Compass, while Kidman worked her way up the press line only to walk right into the theater not even caring where Keith was. Keith actually followed with his head down and a frown on his face a few minutes later.

As I read this stuff why am I getting a mixed message? Because while she is saying almost these same lines to reporters these days, these lines were actually said originally about her one true love, Tom Cruise. Yep, most of these lines were originally said in 1998 or 1999.

So what are we to believe? As some want to believe that Keith and Nicole have this wonderful love story, the reality is far more different. I wasn't wrong to think it was fake in July, 2005, nor is it any more real in December, 2007. Nicole has a movie to sell and if the movie isn't strong she tries to sell herself. I am not buying a ticket or her tales. How about you?

And Nicole, get some new material. This just doesn't it cut it any longer.

I realize the writers are on strike but good grief! Nicole, you are 40 years old. If you can't come up with and express an original thought you really are as worthless as you try to convince us you are not. Keith earns a pretty good living writing, maybe he could help you out if you would bother to give him the time of day.

Ain't love grand?? She sure makes a good case for it. She probably means every word of it too, even if she said it before - problem is it's throwaway language in that world that she lives in. Good for today, but when it's no longer convenient....

Of course, she never has said she stopped loving Tom. Will she say the same for Keith when that is over?

don't believe the lies said...

She's trying to make the old new again like her face. Little does she know one day it catches up with you and never really works. She's a has been who never was and I think/hope will soon go into hiding and free her hostage once she realizes he is no more use to her.

Hasn't she done alot of that two-faced talking?
Funny how easy it is to google her worthless drivel and it is not difficult to see how she will contradict herself depending on her agenda/mission.
Wonder why her highly paid staff cannot keep her mindless babbling straight? Maybe their eyes roll back into their heads when she starts talking-just like ours do.

Is her brain as frozen as her face? She can't think up an original sentence any more than she can work up a facial expression. That bull is about as beleivable as I'm all natural.I just use sunscreen and don't smoke.Or the classic I'm going to slow down my career to be a wife when I fall in love.Sorry Keith, looking at her movie schedule I don't think she's in love, looks like she signed up to make another 4-5 flops next year.Where does that leave you?Watching her strut half naked down a red carpet while she ignores you?

Yes, she is very one-dimensional, one note. She just doesnt have the imagination or creativity to change the script between husbands. I actually was surprised by the 3 week rule about the cruise marriage...and that certainly worked out for them, didn't it? Well, to be fair, this time around isnt it 2 weeks? That one week will make a HUGE difference! If it was even believable that is...

maclen, when we first heard about this limited amount of time away from each other it was two weeks...now suddenly it's three.
Just more BS.

And come to think about it banbotox, this whole "never apart more than xxx weeks" nonsense, isnt even that original... I recall when ex beatle Paul Mccartney's wife , Linda mccartney had died back in 1998, it was widely reported that they had never spent a day apart, (except for a 9 day period when mccartney got busted in Japan for poccesion of pot). And no doubt she'll use it again for the next husband, I'm sure,

Do you really think, even with her money, someone would be dumb enough to be Mr. Kidman number three?

Well, it certainly appears her luster is taking a beating... and it has rubbed off on urban... no grammy nom i see, another sign hes slipping. The lackluster golden compass looks to not even equal Narnia this weekend... rottentomatoes has it at 44% rotten the day before release. If compass does bomb, I expect the films she was developing to produce, to maybe be canceled, to which she will then explain it as being she decided to cancel them for the sake of the marriage...but its because she's such a poor box office draw.

Well, I will say that the GC box office problems are not entirely her fault - more probably due to the religious aspects, or should I say non-religious aspect of the film. Our country can't see past the nose on its' face when it comes to stuff like this. I'm sure that's why they blew off the premiere here, they didn't want to tempt the religious zealouts and have them come out enmasse to picket.

It's not like that in Europe. Europe is more civilized in that regard when it comes to religion. Funny, our country was established to escape religious persecution in England and now England and the rest of Europe have VERY separate church and state - to the point that a persons religion is so NOT part of a political campaign - and in our country political campaigns are so entrenched in how religious and faithful the candidate is that it determines the outcome of elections.

Talk about a turn of the tables.

Certainly, just as with Happy Feet, kidman is incidental to the success or failure of the film. But after the Invasion flop only a few months ago it doesnt help her image. If Compass is a flop, I doubt the next time any studio risks 180+ mill for a film, they'll think twice about paying her 10 to 15 mill, when they could just easily pay someone else for just a fraction of that. And the religious problems certainly affected the film, in that it intimidated the studio into trying to eliminate any religious themes in the film, which was a main point of the books. So they ended up with a pointless and meaningless film that clearly both sides of the debate are not very impressed by.

maclen, he is nominated! Best Male Country Vocal Performance for Stupid Boy.

I hear she has backed out of Lady from Shanghai in order to be with Keith more. Is that the real reason?

"maclen, he is nominated! Best Male Country Vocal Performance for Stupid Boy."

Ok, one nom... meanwhile I notice... the latest single, made it to #11 after about 14 wks.. slipping downward, at #15.... the latest GH release on the top 200, also made it to #11 after first week, down to #19 the next... on the country charts...debut at #4, a week later, down to #6... but he did "recieve" a grammy nod... not very effective water bailing on a sinking ship, I'd say.

maclen said...

Well, a clarification, should have wrote single down from #11 to #12, not #15... if anyone actually checks!

Notachance, thats what she said in an interview, but remember there are about 3 other films she has lined up... two I think she's supposed to produce... the How to marry a Millionaire, is one of them I think. And with the filming of Australia going over and her filming for the reader being delayed, more likely its just too many films is the reason... urban seems to be picking up the touring next year, and how many times has she been on tour with urban in Nov or Dec so far?

If he'd bothered to quit carrying her purse long enough to film a video to go with Everybody it might have done better.
