Questions for Keith Urban

Recently on Keith's website, he answered a number of "approved" questions. We at UM have a few of our own. Bet these won't get answered. Please feel free to add more!

1. What's up with the band.... rumors of contracts not renewed, etc.? Your peeps responded with a "tweet" about the "new" band page, which was the old band.

2. Is the band for hire when you need them, i.e. ACM's, Fairs & Festivals tour 2010, Crossroads...etc.?

3. Did your fan club get a chance for tickets/advance notice for The Ellen Show?

4. Did your fan club get a chance for tickets/advance notice for the Crossroads taping with John Mayer?

5. How is your Mum, Dad, and brother? Seen them lately?

6. How was that trip to New Zealand to visit the homeland during Christmas?

7. Why should the average Keith Urban fan shell out money when the fan club is really non-existent when it comes to perks?

8. Who actually benefits from fan club membership fees?

9. Why would anyone pay $100 for a ticket to see you at a fair?

10. Why would you buy a condo 20+ floors up, when you have a toddler, and sold a house because it didn't have enough yard for her?

11. How is the contractual marriage working out for you?

12. That extra Holiday time you were going to take in Australia and New Zealand, what was it, 2 weeks of free time?

13. The Stampedes, Fairs, Rodeos and Side Shows that you're doing for 2010, will that be just you and your Guitar?

14. Does the term 5 year contract mean anything to you?

15. Did your wife even remember her only son's birthday? Maybe send him a card? She was probably too busy trying to be seen at the Golden Globes to bother seeing him, but a card might have been nice.

16. Speaking of your step-children? How are they? Have you seen them lately?

17. How does your wife feel about the possible upcoming tour with John Mayer? Will she become "your savior" once again?

18. Why do you have two homes in Nashville?

19. How does your wife look in the morning when "It's Raining on Sunday"?

20. Does your Diary have an entry about George Clooney in it tonight?

As I see that photo of orb and clooney at the SAG's...it occurs to me that orb is getting some major schmoozing and networking with the lalaland crowd...it's just too bad the orb is in music... and not movies! But he can still look on the bright side...he may pick up some film score work! So, I take it from the questioned posed, there are issues or questions of orbs band and contracts...and will he have a band? Well, just as kidman is flailing in trying to revive her dead career, the orb's own poorly selling cd doesnt exactly give him a strong hand in his dealings. As I mentioned late last year, if orb does remain at CapNash and another cd results...it is simply because he took a lesser deal to continue. As to the "stepkids"...it is clear by now that there is no..."IS" there. Even "step mom" only discuss' there new baby, because basically that is all she is for, a PR talking point. They no longer have relationships with the ex's kids! And just finished watching the SAG awards...and Nine is going for a no hitter...once again going 0 for 2. My only question is, can Nine actually attain an 0-fer at the oscars...in nominations? But I would like to present the cast of Nine an award for "Most wooden and amateurishly stiff presenters at the SAGS."

Great questions. Definitely intriqued by what's happening with the band. We all know McHuge won't go anywhere. Chris R. would be really surprising, I know he worships (or worshipped anyway) the ground Keith walked on. Brad does other projects and maybe that's where he wants to be right now. Not sure about Jerry, but he does other projects as well. Now, if Nutter wanted to strike out on his own - I'd be all over that!

One question I would have asked is:

Keith, did you find out if Nicole is really a hermaphrodite the first night you made out?

Also, another question:
Keith - would you agree with this article that claims your old lady misses out on new jobs because of her frozen face? We do...

Yes, Choice I figure this article is in response to that story that kidman hired jolie's manager. Although Bel Ami was just recent, a role she no doubt missed out on...Monte Carlo was from at least 3 years ago that kidman was to "produce" and star in...and I wager it just fell through. And actually, that 3rd film...Monroe's Marry a millionare WAS monte carlo. Really, kidman being passed over for role probably really began with the valerie Plame biopic. She was "announced" as being "outed as Plame" in the news...the flakey director even gushed like a schoolboy at the thought of working with kidman...but when the film resurfaced last year as already finished...it was actually filmed with naomi watts as plame and not kidman! I'd figure the studio balked at kidman being in it...and not even over the "box office poison" that she surely is...because this plame biopic is truly NOT meant as a box office blockbuster...but as "vanity awards bait." And even in that regard kidman is also critical and awards poison! And dont forget the woody allen pic she was supposed to be in...for like 5 minutes...recall, we were warning woody to reconsider...and I guess he did! And of course all these roles were explained by inept team kidman as not going to kidman...for that old tired stand by..."scheduling conflicts!" I figure inept team kidman "leaked" the story that she was to be in these flicks...and when she got passed over...they simply claimed scheduling conflicts. The recent false report that kidman was to star with pattinson in Bel AMi is a perfect example...she considered the role..and passed on it...right...she has a recent longer list of films she will not turn out to be in, than films she has potentially to be in!

I think question #11 can be answered simply by looking at the photo of Keith and Clooney. Yeah, he can hang with the big stars! The better question is, is all her fame rubbing off on you Keith? Cause it sure doesn't show in your CD sales.

Great questions that you can believe "HE" will never answer personally.
Chris R is a great musician and I am sure he could get another job with MANY artists quite quickly. Brian Nutter is fantastic at playing guitar and singing!! Great performer too...again, he wouldn't have any difficulties. It would be a huge loss for KU though. We all know we can sum up KU's biggest problem in one word..NK! Maybe she won't renew her contract with KU when it's time to do so!!

Mikki - you mention Keith's CD sales, which have been less than impressive of late. Yet he won the People Choice Awards for best singer. Doesn't seem consistent to get that award while his latest album is a flop. Any thoughts on how he won that award then?

Choice,
Much like American Idol I would think. Popularity contest. And who was his conpetition?? It wasn't the best of the best as I remember it. I think the better gauge of how well hes doing is CD sales. Can't argue with the numbers.

My personal opinion, awards are overrated.

so blazing away...almost reluctantly into this E o' LAte Night MUsings...I'm tending to be adverse at attempting to chronologically restating the orbs decline. At the moment orb seems comfortably entrenched with playing gawking bystander at kidman's lalaland "prom" appearences...of which a "winningless" kidman's biggest media buzz seems to be her "darker" look! Well, of her hair anyways...at the recent SAG's...although actually, if you go back and review the pics of kidman at the Golden Globes the week prior, her hair had already taken a darker tone. Although I guess, her hair was overshadowed by her "poking floatation devices"...and i suppose the fact that kidman had "curls" at the SAG's put the hair story on the news cycle! But back to the orb...obviously, all set to go back on the road in a few months...clearly to continue support for a badly selling cd...and you would assume... working on his next album. But you gotta wonder...after the declining sales of whole crazy thing cd, which was released a year after he met kidman...and in which he landed in rehab 4 months after marrying kidman...clearly that cd was in reaction to that! And then the superficial and lightweight defying sales cd, again a total ode to kidman...and an even poorer performing cd...my final question is, what will orb have...in experiences...in inspiration...that's gonna result in an album that people will want to buy? How he met clooney and Co. at awards shows? More love songs for kidman? To his daughter? I guess what I'm wondering is what does the orb have in him that is beyond just more love songs to his wife and daughter? Or how he's working on being a better person? Or how life is simply a colorful rainbow now? Having never heard of the orb before he got involved with kidman, seems the orb has nothing else to offer but the same tired jingles and rather basic "boy meets girl, boy almost looses girl, boy and girl have baby...boy and girl buy a house...Etc"

Don't forget boy tries to cross over to rock. Boy has to settle for pop. Boy tires to cross over to pop.

Will boy be able to cross over to pop?

Rumor has it that Urban and Mayer had a blast taping their Crossroads segment and have admitted to possibly working on future projects together. I believe they will tour at some point this summer. Personally I can't stomach Mayer and Keith has gotten so fluffy in the heart that I pulled out my Bon Jovi records. However, as much as I dislike Urban's latest efforts I still hoping for music with some balls. Perhaps Mayer can help with that.

Funny Stuff, thank you!

Mayer-Balls-I just drew this mental picture that was most distressing

Ah yes maclen, shes reaching back in time to the red hair and a more youthful look. Will it help? Shes screaming, "hire me, PLEASE, will someone hire me!!" Other than Nine, no film offers since 07'. Not even an Indie. Can't even get funding for Rabbit Hole.

And when does Keith have time to work on a new album? He seems awfully busy escorting his "prom date" to one awards show after another.

Hoosierlady - if you want to see a picture of Mayer's balls, just find the one of him in the Borat bathing suit from his first cruise.

That wasn't what I had in mind but thanks for MAKING me laugh! After reading it back now - I can see clearly where I made the poor choice in words. What was I thinking! LOL!

So what will Kidman's new role be? That of the yearning once more for an inside child or that of the victim, my husband left me for a whole two days!

Keith doesn't need that much time to make a new record - by the sound of his latest efforts, it should take no time at all.

Yes, hoosier, that does beg to ponder...will the next mode for orb to be exacted...rap...ska...or raggae? As is brought up in the next blog...with the lainey described "douchey" mayer...what is orb going for next?
...to be continued...

No doubt kidman will make an effort to play musical wigs...although it seems kidman is having problems with The Danish Girl...I dont read much good news for the "still in post production" Rabbit Hole...as the music score was, and is in dispute if it ever got finished...5 or 6 months after principle photography was finished!

She was pictured leaving a fertility clinic yesterday while hubby was in Nashville earning a paycheck. Here we go fake baby #2 and I bet it will be a boy. Maybe Keith Jr.

I hope she has triplets! She wants it all after all; remember her gushing on Oprah how Daniel Day Lewis "has it all!" Funny, there is a line in 'bewitched' where Colin says "so what's this Daniel Day Lewis thing you've got going on?" What she doesn't realise is that DDL has TALENT (even tho his performance in Nine was panned). So, it would be jealousy/envy, of course ... even in Nine she says: "I want to be the man" ( - who has the muses fall in love with him). Art imitating life.

People have raved about how her inner monologue is so amazing (refering particularly to the scene of NK at the opera in Birth) that she can convey so much meaning without moving her face at all. Well, I maintain that it was the music that informed the emotion and the audience reads into the blank face whatever THEY are feeling, not NK - she doesn't feel anything except 'am I looking beautiful - at this angle?' Now, with the Rabbit Hole movie not having a score, means that a new musician must come in and see Nicole's 'blank' footage and try and instill the emotion into the film. Must be singularly uninspiring seeing nicole 'bare', without the trappings. Quite a challenge for someone right there.

Funny how the great directors seem to die after working with her: Kubrick, Minghella - maybe that's scaring the others away.
