Why I am not buying your record, Mr. Keith Urban

It's been a while, but UM received some mail today that is very important to share...

Dear Keith,

I want to start by saying that I am a fan. I own everything you have recorded. From the 1991 record to the Ranch to all the solo studio releases. I even have two copies of Be Here; one with the black and white cover; and one with the color cover. I have spent a lot of money on your music over the years, so it is with a heavy heart that I just can't bring myself to buy Get Closer. There is a phrase in television called ‘jumping the shark’. That is when a show is older and the creativity has run out, and the shows start getting far fetched. This happened with Happy Days the season that Fonzie literally jumped a shark. I bring this up because I believe you have jumped the shark with this new record. Who is this record for, Keith? Your wife or your fans? I ask that because when you remove the fantasy of the subject of the song, the song becomes quite boring. By telling the world all the songs are about your wife you have removed the listener from the song. That is a tragedy because it means the song has no other meaning beyond your definition. The appeal of art and music in particular, is that it must move the listener to relate to something in that song. The listener must find their own meaning. By telling everyone what each song means they are losing their own personal connection. Frankly, I am not interested in your personal life. I am interested in your art, but I don't want it defined for me.

Another reason I won't be buying this record is the cover. You lied to your fans by the selection of this cover. There is no glossing over that fact. You committed fraud. Harsh, yes, I know I am being quite harsh. But the fact remains that people who work for you, with your approval, used your Facebook page to conduct a survey with the promise that the results would be used in a certain manner. Then after the cover was selected a different cover was used. That is fraud. If you are going to mislead your fans this much then you need to know that so many of us are feeling a bit deceived. Lying and cheating may be a part of your world but they aren't a part of mine and the only way that I can take a stand is to not encourage the behavior to continue. If that means one less record sold, well maybe that doesn't amount to much, but I don't think I am alone. We will all see what the sales charts say. Until then I will sit this record out and hope you can return to being someone I can respect if you are lucky enough to get a chance to record again.

Your Fan

Bravo! My sentiments exactly.

I feel he doesn't care anymore. About his music, about his fans, even about his wife. There is something very odd with this whole thing. For someone who wore his heart on his sleeve, for some reason he is choking on it.

Timing is everything.

I agree with this Your Fan. I to cannot imagine whatever possessed KU to go on with his verbose lyrics toward Kidman. It is fulger and insensitive regarding his fans.

I believe the cover was a forced issue. The fans wanted KU to be on the cover alone. His benefactor/business partner disagreed and she won!! Well she won the round but lost a lot of money! I hope she is happy.

I for one thank you for your candid blog.

Keith I wont be buying "Get Closer" either. No way will that cover ever enter my home or car. How does it feel to know you lied to your fans. You said you wanted our opinion and when we gave it, you switched it, because we didn't want your wife on the cover. I hope this time you see that making it all about your wife is the wrong thing to do. People(fans) are sick of you shoving your wife in our faces.

Between the boring songs that his fans can no longer connect to and the betrayal to the fans when selecting the cover of album, all I can say is something isn't right, normal or healthy in his life. Gone are the songs about getting on a bike and driving down a highway or hitting a wall and dealing with difficulties in the real world. Come on Keith, if you went through real rehab and finally saw the light, be an inspiration for someone who is suffering with addiction problems and write about it. Kind of hard to be creative and write when you've got to constantly jump on couches.

I also find it very, very hard to believe that your marriage is perfect 24/7, but in the world your wife has created for you, you probably think so when she has used the good old Church of Scientology brainwashing on you. You say you found balance - I don't see it.

Yea, you may be able to tour when you want to soon, but it may be at Branson, a casino or back to honky-tonks where your pay will come from some pickle jar.

Yeah, Fading Fan...that he is doing it is pretty obvious. Now as to the why? Well, just imagine you've been an addict AND alcoholic for over the past 10 years...and you're suddenly in a very "high profile" marriage and you land youself in rehab...and recall...only 4 months after your so called "fairy tale" wedding...there is a very high "threat" of a VERY PUBLIC break up! But of course, the mutt WAS JUST as concerned that her "PR marriage" continue. But I have no doubt that the "threat" of public tarring WAS made! So, the orb's public proclaimation that mutt's "love" had suddenly "cured" him was the official talking point. Face it, even orb would be aware that the "addict and drunk" would LOSE the PR battle in this one! BUT, fansie's who ACTUALLY beleive that the orb is "cured" of his alcoholism and addictions should take heed and not be so naive...or simply self dellusional. Orb has been to rehab for his addictions twice...once in the late 90s...and then again, in 2007...thats about 10 YEARS LATER! It is just ridiculous to believe that orb has been "cured" of his addictions by the power of "love"...just because he's supposedly been sober the past 3 years. As the span of his two visits to rehab show, it can basically happen at ANY TIME!

maclen said...

It is very easy to feel duped by the orb...when he AND mutt have been trying to claim for the past 4 years that their "private relationship" was off limits...when the press would ask them about it. So now, when the orb is trying to sell his albums...by using EVERYTHING about his "private relationship" in EVERY press junket...there WILL be some who will claim they are simply being "two faced" about it...pun intended! But unfortunately for orb...it didnt work when he claimed it was "private"...and it wont work now that he wants to make it public. Every indication, from declining cd sales to the sham of the "photoshopped cd cover" Facebook scam, is that there isnt any more of an audience for it than there was 3 years ago.

I agree maclen!

Maclen, since we're trying to figure out if KU is still with Capitol Nashville, I checked on two other artists to see if they have started their own record labels. Kenny Chesney started his own in July 08', Blue Chair Records but is still with BNA Records (a subsidiary of Sony Music). And Brad Paisley started his own in November 09', Sea Gayle Music, but he too is still with Sony Music Nashville. So my question to you is, how does this benefit the artists? Does this have something to do with itunes or other internet sources of music? We know that CD sales are down across the board, so is this a way to help the artist increase their income?

I have never posted before - and probably never will again as you guys all know a lot more than I do - but that latter from "Your fan" expressed my feelings exactly. Maybe consider posting it on his facebook page? Presumably his people do read that? I think he should be told this.

"Maclen, since we're trying to figure out if KU is still with Capitol Nashville... So my question to you is, how does this benefit the artists?"

Well, mikki...that is interesting about chesney and paisley! Makes complete sense that orb would want to try and emulate them! Well, clearly the benefit of a musician having there own label of course is that THEY would receive MOST of the profits of the cds they sell. If they are not signed to a major recording company, who's contracts, which they have absolute control over since they would basically sign up and coming and as yet unproven musicians and bands...is probably 90% and probably OVER that going to the label and maybe 10 or probably LESS would go to the musician or band....and most assuredly, they also become indebted to the label via the "cross "collateralization" I mentioned before. So after a couple of years...musicians or bands who have had massive success... then want to have MORE control over the stuff they put out...plus they want more of the profits! Hence...the vanity labels. But it is very hard for them to be that successful for them... as in your cases of chesney and paisley, they obviously tried to start their own labels BUT are still signed to major labels. I figure orb will do the same thing...and as was suggested "Hit Red Records" is simply a temp "corporate entity" orb set up to help pay back his debt at capnash, so he can sign somewhere else. But when it comes down to the nitty gritty...for me...the main point would be IF orb was OUT at capnash. For that would simply be a conformation that orb was "let go" for his lousy cd sales!

Kaitlin: Good idea. I refused to believe he doesn't know what is going on and how his fans feel since he reads everything in sight and has even lied about his computer skills. We all know he knows his way around the internet pretty well. I wouldn't be surprised if he reads all the blogs about him.

I also refuse to believe he doesn't care enough about his craft to flush it down the toilet. There is a reason for all this mush and the odes to Queen Cornstalk. Remember Cruise in his undying adoration of Kidman kept talking her up before he filed papers? Is Keith pulling a Cruise? He knows darn well this CD will go straight to the trash bin. He also knows darn well that Rascal Flatts will blow him out of the way with the release of theirs on the same date. Is this the bomb that will blow this PR marriage into thin air? There is nothing heartfelt about these songs. They are written like they were passing love notes in junior high. We all know Keith is better than what he has been displaying in the past few CD's. Something is not just right in their happy la la land marriage. And something is not right with Keith and his changed attitude with gratitude and rehab. Something is amiss and I believe this train is well on its way to derailing.

kaitlin, Don't worry Keith will see this. Keith reads everything that is said about him on the internet, good or bad. I know he has said "I know nothing about computers",j ust another lie he has told his fans.

I for one don't think it was alcohol Keith went into "rehab" for. I think it was for drugs. His last show in CT at the end on the video screen it showed his people handing him a bottle of Champagne he took it and then the video screen went out. If he is an alcoholic then why does his own people give him alcohol? I wonder what else Keith has or will lie about.

Interesting Fading Fan, and notice that they aren't saying they don't like the song itself? They are saying that they are no longer wanting to hear that every song is about his wife. YLGIMS and MMOU were two of my favorites, but now he has to dedicate them and throw a dozen baby girls in the song, and I can no longer listen to them.

Basically fans are telling Keith to just shut up, leave the wife at home and sing already!

Nice to see a new face and all the rest of you. I can't disagree with
the letter.

I'll throw this out to discuss

Is it advantageous for Keith to put this record out to satisfy Cap Nash
perhaps pushing him to get product out there and then saving new material for a new start at a new label? I mean in the New York Times interview he did a year or so ago he said that he knew that Pain wasn't strong but he put it out. They pointed out it didn't have any #1 singles on it and he was like yeah I knew it had some problems. Do any of you think this just might be Keith giving Cap Nash the middle finger so that he can deliver better elsewhere.

Yes, welcome kaitlin...and I say, comment as often and when you feel like commenting! You dont need to be any kind of "expert" to simply express your opinion.

"Maclen, In your post you had said, "But I have no doubt that the "threat" of public tarring WAS made!" I can't help but wonder if a relapse happened 6+ months ago and threats were made in some form or another and this in turn allowed someone else to become ruler of his career or face the consequences....What's your take on that theory?"

Yeah, I agree with you Fading Fan, he HAS given over his career to kidman, right? She's on the cd cover, the title is about her...5 out of the 8 songs on the cd contain the word "you"...3 of the 4 preview songs released on itunes every week have "you" in the title...it is no surprise some of his Facebook fansies are getting fed up with it. And surely, the result...and the ONE thing a so called "creative artist" DOES NOT want to become...is one dimensional! Imagine if a sculptor only carved statues of the SAME person...or a painter painted the exact same landscape? A cd of songs for the same person...I would imagine after listening to 2 or 3 songs...they would probably want to move on to someone else...who perhaps writes songs about a myriad of topics. It doesnt take an "expert" to simply realize that, it just takes "common sense" which is build on personal experiences...which EVERYBODY posessess!

Keith Urban Will Plan Tour Around Nicole and Sunday Rose

...so how will monkeys feel when orb perhaps DOESNT appear at a venue close enough to them to go see him live? Again, perhaps they move to SOME OTHER country performer that does! And once gain, orb COULD simply "plan his tour around his family"...without making the point of promoting that fact in PR for the tour. I'm sure it will have "potential" fansies looking for far more "assessable" country performers? I almost get the "vibe" that orb is "paving" the way for a "break" in his career..but as the example...or actually... the NON example of "career breaks and/or retirements" from mutt...I wouldnt put much stock on that!

Tara said...

Yeah, Ive stated this cd could just be a "throw away"...and I think I recall you and some others...stating this cd COULD be the middle finger to capnash...and even to fanies who are NOT into his mutt worship! Hence his throwing mutt onto the cover and on the title...and the songs!

All:

Very interesting posts. I do believe Keith will be paving the way for a "break" even though he hinted at this massive tour for next year when he had his chat and now he is planning around the wife and child? Yes there is more than meets the eye.

He switched one addiction for another and that is her. He has convinced himself or resigned himself to the fact that this woman did not leave him when he pulled his usual tricks and therefore she must "love" him. Of course he is kidding himself. This marriage stunk of PR long before most figured out it was. Keith may have longed for that family he was always crying about but in reality he was scared to death of all that committment. Keith is in love with the ideas of love and marriage and family, but when it comes right down to it, he doesn't want it. Right now he is stuck in a situation that he didn't plan on being in for a while. This too shall pass.

With all his love and gratitude, again I ask, this is the best he can come up? The last CD's were childish at best. Nothing thought provking, not gut wrenching, nothing to the imagination. I can't listen to the music half the time without the walking stick popping in my head. For someone who was so private and his relationships were off limits, why all of a sudden this sweet talking it up of the Missus? I smell a big stink bomb!

I always thought his last CD's were big middle fingers to CapNash and to all those people who didn't believe in him ... after the Kidman hookup. They believed in him before. Since he sold his soul to the devil, they don't trust him or have little use for him.

Who knows, we may all have a nice Christmas surprise!

Re: Urbanalysis for Put You In A Song on the Billboard Chart

Radio seems to be loving the not-so-typical songs. Tim and Kenny are both dominating the charts so far with these two songs, both of which are different from the norm for country radio. PYIAS is great, but it's similar to a lot of stuff we've heard from Keith in the past.
Other "not-so-typical" songs that are doing well on the chart include Sugarland's "Stuck Like Glue" and The Band Perry's "If I Die Young."
Although this cannot be the full explanation for PYIAS' worse than expected performance so far, there does seem to be some weight to the argument that Keith's song is too much of the same, and country radio and its listeners want something unique.

Well, besides the typical monkey, "orb's song is GREAT...while all other songs are not-so-typical"...some pretty good points. Now simply replace "not-so-typical with this monkey's last point... "unique"...or perhaps more "intellectually stimulating"..."aurally challenging. Orb IS simply offering another catchy and fluffy toe tapper! A few recycled riffs and lyrics...his "summer" single for next year. So yeah, maybe country music fans ARE looking for music "not-so-typical"...and not music which is typical... which clearly orb IS offering!

I am so glad someone said exactly what I have been thinking. I must say, I have not liked any of the new songs from the album so far, and Without You really takes the cake. I find it a slap in the face to all his fans. Could he have been any more obvious that he no longer wants to be in the music business. I think you guys are right, he has traded one addiction for another, and unfortunately this addiction will eventually kill him. Maybe not physically, but definately professionally. It is very clear that nothing matters to him anymore except for her. I just find it very sad that he struggled for so long trying to make a name for himself in the US and he is going to throw that all away.
I also have a question. Where the heck are his pr people? doesn't he pay people to tell him what he should do career wise and advise against this kind of stuff? As for the ever loving wife, is she that oblivious as to what is going on? If she loves him that much and they are so secure in their relationship, soul mates so they say, don't you think she would tell him to write about something other than her? She is supposed to be this powerful business woman, why isn't she using her strength to build his career, not destroy it?

So, in this Edition of "Insomniac Theater 3000"...

...I want to go back to a topic I commented on back on sept 22 when orb's appearence on ABCs Extreme Makeover was first announced...where the topic of the show would be rebuilding the Lighthouse Christian School near Nashville. I pointed out how orb, having only the year before taken up the cause of the country hall of fame...in Nashville...literally taking credit for vince gill's YEARS of work for the Hall... and turning into the "Benefit for orb"...in a clear attempt to curry favor at the CMA awards which would be held a few weeks later. Then for the Extreme makeover show, orb would then be appearing on behalf of a Christian school NEARBY Nashville, which would be shown on Nov 7...only 3 days before the CMA awards...another clear exploitation of a charitable cause to curry favor for votes for the "Entertainer" award at the CMA's. I made a huge point of stating that the orb WAS WILLING TO EXPLOIT ANY CHARITY FOR HIS OWN PERSONAL GAIN! Well, then a hyperventilating fansie sockpuppet responded...

jasfro said...
"You can't see that ABC the network that airs Extreme Makeover is also the same network that's airing the CMA's? That's why there's cross-promotion in the press. Keith did not dictate when this show would air. The network has a programming schedule to put out they can use what's in the shows to get people to watch."

Well, courtesy of monkeyland...I now learn that the Lighthouse School charity near Nashville episode of Extreme Makeover...ON ABC... WILL NOT after all be shown on Nov. 7...only 3 days before the CMA's...ON ABC...you know, so ABC can capitalize on the "cross-promotion" for their broadcast of the CMA's...BUT...the christian school charity near Nashville episode of Extreme Makeover in which orb will appear...WILL BE BROADCAST INSTEAD ON NOV. 14...ONLY TWO DAYS BEFORE ORB'S CD DROPS!

http://tvbythenumbers.com/2010/10/28/abc-announces-november-sweeps-programming/70063

ABC Announces November Sweeps Programming

“Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” –“Lighthouse School/ Sweatt Family”
On September 10th, the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” designers teamed up with some of country music’s brightest stars (Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, and LeAnn Rhimes) to take the bull by the horns and deliver a new school to some deserving students. This episode of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” airs SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 14.

HA! Boy...isnt orb SOOOO lucky that ABC would pass up on that "cross-promotion" for their own other show on ABC...the CMA's...and instead promote orb and his new cd instead?! Yes, the Christian Lighthouse is just a tool to shill for the orb's cd...Isnt that so special!

I think it goes back to some of the things maclen said at the beginning of the year. In 09' KU had a new CD and a tour so he was able to keep the hype going. But this year, no tour. He played fairs and festivals mostly. So theres been very little hype and exposure this year. NK was apparently advised to step back from the "personal image", so very few family photos have come out this year. KU has done a lot of radio interviews and whatever else he can to generate publicity. But he is clearly not as visible this year without NK providing the photo ops. So, desparate for PR, he is heavily promoting NK and the marriage, particularly now with this new CD coming out, in an effort to get more media exposure. Just my opinion, but I think thats what she means to him. Fame by association.

Not sure whats going on with the new music, whether its an attempt to appeal to the younger fans or if NK is behind it. But it seems to be the money more than the music that interests KU. His tour was a financial success last year in spite of poor CD sales. Doesn't that tell you where his head is at?

"I just find it very sad that he struggled for so long trying to make a name for himself in the US and he is going to throw that all away."

First of all, welcome dolpin23, and what you say here is very important. All he wanted was fame and fortune, and the only way you can do that is to be born into it, do it yourself or marry into it. Obviously, he wasn't born into it. At some point in his life, he had to create his own fame. Money bags eventually came along, and he jumped on the gravy train. His name is now affiliated with Hollywood, and he has use of her mansions, yachts, luxury vehicles, and the multi-millions of dollars!

He doesn't need to make a name for himself anymore - he is a Kidman!

With regards to the music he is putting out - just remember - the Painful album was the sound of their marriage. DG was about his happiness and how much he is in love. GC is all about her. He has done three albums now that are based around her. I don't think he is holding onto the good stuff at all. That's a lot to risk on three albums if you know you aren't putting the good stuff out there.

rememberwhen said...

Wouldn't the ultimate jumping on the couch be, if Keith quit the music business for Baldy? I for one wish he would retire. Then watch her drop him like a hot potato. No way would she keep him around, what good is he to her then?

I can't wait to see how they spin the poor showing of this CD.

Hatti said...

I know people think Kidman is a smart and powerful business woman but I don't believe that is true. I think she has had some very smart people(probably TC's) watching out for her interests. I also think her self absorbtion gets in the way with THEIR good sense and she makes stupid decisions.

This CD is going down! We know it is b/c she is the topic and everyone is sick to death of her. But in her own narcissistic mind she believes everyone thinks this is the best thing since sliced bread cause she is so wonderful. NOT!!

Now the only thing I feel is going to happen here is that she will lose a lot of money if she backed him on this disaster.

I for one would be very happy to see that. I would love to see KU fall on his face with this just to drive the truth home. She is of no interest to most people out here. Her movies suck, she sucks, and she is BOP!!! ((giggles)))))

so, again courtesy of a helpful monkey...the lyrics to orb's next preview song....

http://www.keithurban.net/forum/index.php?topic=41929.0

You Gonna Fly
Yeah
One two three baby don’t think twice,
Just like that you got a brand new life,
Hop in this truck, we’ll run through the red lights.
Yeah, where you wanna go baby, name the town.
We could go up the north, we could head down south
Roll down the windows, with the radio loud.
Come on turn it up,
Yeah, start livin’ your life,
On the double leave your troubles behind
You and me, we’re gonna be alright.

Well here we are baby in the back of my bed
Sun’s going down, sky’s turning red
Stars coming out
, baby look at you now.
God knows how long, but it’s been a while,
Since I heard you laugh and I seen that smile,
Felt that kiss and I could get used to this.
Baby I could get used to this.

So, once again...the "cars, radio, roll down the windows and staring at the stars" themes are back.

Put you in a song

"I wanna put you in my car and drive
And turn you up loud, roll down all the windows and shout it out
I love this girl oh"

Long hot summer

"Wanna jump in my car Singing along with the radio, it’s such a beautiful sound"

Without you

"The fast cars, the guitars, they are all just second to,
this life this love that you and I have been dreamin of for so long"

Yes, orb's cd is clearly an "eclectic" mix of "cars, radios, rolling down the windows and starry nights!"

Its a publicity game Hatti. He needs to attach her name to his music for the hype and added PR. And right now, she is trying to get her career back on track and hoping to keep the oscar buzz going for Rabbit Hole, so she desparately needs the PR as well. NK is not a smart business woman. But she knows the media game. The problem is, its not working anymore. Theres no interest in these two. Their boring. No one cares about their "perfect marriage". Fans are looking for great music. Audiences are looking for a film performance worth seeing. KUNK aren't providing either. So, like many celebrities before them, they'll fade. We're already seeing it with the decline in PR surrounding them. He'll always find a place to perform. She'll always find a film to make. But this PR marriage has run its course. They've gotten all their going to get out of it. (IMO)

...so...this article not only confirms my "cars, radios, rolling down the window and staring at stars" rather basic motiff of orb's cd...it also confirms my other theory of capnash "rushing' orb to get this cd out...and sheds light on orb's postition at capnash....

http://www.billboard.com/features/keith-urban-the-billboard-cover-story-1004125608.story

Keith Urban: The Billboard Cover Story

"That kind of perfectionism could fray some nerves on the label side if Capitol wasn't already familiar with the routine. Urban typically works until the last minute with every album and was still playing with mixes on "Get Closer" during the weekend prior to the Monday deadline the label gave him to turn the album in.
"It's like school," Huff says. "If your test is on Monday, you're going to study Sunday night."
Way before that deadline, Capitol needed a single, and Urban brought in a couple of songs to consider. "He worked right up to the deadline, leaving Capitol and Borman Entertainment to market a project they couldn't hear in its entirety.

So, orb DID have a "rushed" deadline to finish this cd...which would explain the rather "basic" simple and repetitive "themes" of the songs on the cd! And the "up to the last minute" work on it left the label having to "promote it" without having heard the complete work? Its no wonder the single is struggling!
Now as to orb's contract...

"During the creation of "Get Closer," the tinkering extended to Urban's relationships with retailers and with Capitol. His contract with the label had expired, and Borman negotiated a new deal on his behalf while Urban proceeded in the studio. They turned down larger advances from some other companies to remain with Capitol in what Borman describes as a "nontraditional deal." There aren't any "360" elements in the package, he says, but it does emphasize mutual rewards for mutual success.
"Our objective was to continue to build the partnership that we had with Capitol Records all these years and to make sure that we all profited when we succeeded," Borman says."

So, I then take it that orb is no longer on capnash's roster...but remains attached to "Capitol" basically as a "distributor"...and with no "360" elements? "360" is where the label not only gets a cut of cd sales grosses...but also percentages of other musician monetary revenues... Concert revenue
Merchandise sales Endorsement deals. So Capitol WILL NOT get percentages of that from orb any longer...BUT surely, orb also no longer gets promo back up from the label! Which again, would explain why orb's single is not doing so great on the country chart...and why, most assuredly, his cd will also probably be his worst selling cd to date! How long will this "new deal" last if that is the case!

so reading the article very eye opening...
yeah Keith is the tortured artist
but Boreman has been behind the scenes making deals and not traditional deals

is it just my opinion or is he in trouble?

Yes mikki I totally agree. I think they are just feeding off a dead horse. Two old crows!!! ((giggles))))

Oh well, I have thought Kidman was dead in the water five long years ago when she attached herself to a country bumpkin and left the lights of HW. Guess we all live and learn. The question is, HAS SHE LEARNED??

I really don't think she is bright enough to know when to cut her losses. I believe till she is down for the count she will keep her claws in for the ride!! Well it's not like she doesn't deserve it!! ((giggles))

Yes, this quote says it all...

"Our objective was to continue to build the partnership that we had with Capitol Records all these years and to make sure that we all profited when we succeeded," Borman says."

Yeah, your right Tara, that "nontraditional deal" is very interesting. BUt other than "there are NO "360" elements to it"...not much details. So from what I understand from this article...orb's "brain trust" negotiated a new deal with Capitol...where Capitol no longer supports orb's product with that possible "cross-collateralization"...so the label WILL NOT get a cut of orb's tour grossess...merchandising, etc...but they also WILL NO longer finance or work to promote those orb endeavers. So, basically, as I mentioned before, orb will provide the cd...and Capitol will distribute. I gather Capitol will continue to gather the lions share of the cd sales profits...of what there is...and simply not get a cut of orb's tour and merch...etc? Now, why would orb "turn down" LARGER advances from other labels...IF in fact there were any...to remain at Capitol...for LESS? I KNEW Capitol would offer orb less, if he was to remain at Capitol. When the Whole crazy cd sold alot less than Be Here, 3 years ago I FIGURED orb, if he stayed at Capnash,...IT WOULD BE FOR ALOT LESS than what he previously had in his contract! This confirms orb was satisfied to remain for less... and of course, NOT be in a strong position to get a "better" deal anywhere else! Yes, the spin IS he turned down alot more to stay...I certainly dont buy that PR BS...if he stayed with Capitol for LESS...its clearly because he COULDNT get MORE anywhere else. Because, realistically, orb COULDNT get a "NO 360 deal" at another label...and I'm sure Capitol is just happy not to have to spent as much on orb, what with his dwindling cd sales. They can simply keep orb on... basically, ON THE CHEAP! And if I'm correct on orb's dwindling cd sales...I'm sure this new..."NON TRADITIONAL" deal orb got with CApitol...it doesnt last beyond one album at a time!

Tara said...

I can't see that man turning down a big offer. So yep he took what he could get- looks like the Keith Urban endless tour begins in 2011

rememberwhen said...

This new contract is really bad for Keith. If CapNash isn't going to make money or give him any, how is he going to tour? Verizon and KC Masterpiece only pay so much. I don't see a big tour and all the extras coming next year. Unless Nicole pays for it. I guess she will, if she needs him for her pr. Look for him to start playing "Thank You" in the shows now and lots of Baby Girls.

Once again, he surrendered! There's the writing on the wall - he isn't in demand as his fans want to believe. CapNash didn't offer the world to him to stay, and apparently no one was knocking on the door with a better offer!

Yes, for me the mention of the "360 effects" regarding orb's "new non-traditional" deal with capitol..."NO LONGER being in effect" simply confirms for me what I had been speculating...which were basically my "gut reactions" due to not being aware of ANY of the specific "intricacies" of orb's deal with capnash. Last year, after orb's Defying sales was released, and then orb launched his full tour in support of the cd...AND THEN immediately orb was out ON TOUR again this year, with the weak sales of the cd, my gut reaction of course was simply..."orb needs to get out on tour to help recoup capnash's funding of orb's weak selling cd, the promo...and now as it turns out...capnash's surely funding of his his tour. The "360" effect, which is NOW confirmed to have been part of orb's contract with capnash...shows capnash got a percentage of orbs tour. Now, this next cd, MAY simply be to pay off orb's no doubt "debt" to capnash, and in exchange, orb signs a new, non "360 effects...where orb will not get a percentage of his concert grosses being taken by capnash! But also, now that capnash will NOT be taking a share of that gross...they dont have to fund it any longer as well! So, now we will see just how well orb's upcoming cd...and as far as the monkey's are concerned, his first single, will sell with this "new non-traditional" deal!

maclen said...

blue sky said...
"Once again, he surrendered! There's the writing on the wall - he isn't in demand as his fans want to believe."

Yes, blue sky...that very true. As this article ALSO confirms my other hypothisis that this album WAS rush released...

"the Monday deadline the label gave him to turn the album in.
"It's like school," Huff says. "If your test is on Monday, you're going to study Sunday night."

...capnash ordered a deadline...orb rushed to meet it. Now, of course a reason being that their old contract was due to end...but I have no doubt IF orb was "stronger" he could have negotiated more time. Recall, swifty claims she took two year to write and record her album...the one that just sold one million in it's first week! But, orb being in such a weak postition...he surely couldnt threaten to walk...I have no doubt there WAS NOWHERE FOR ORB TO GO! So he rushed to have a cd ready...he settled for a "non-traditional" contract...which I simply feel is orb turns in a album...capnash or capitol puts it out...without any the the traditional back up for the product or it's promo...since the label will no longer take a piece of the profits it was getting in the old contract. That means orb will have to do that himself. Again, we'll have to see how the cd sells!

FadingFan, have to disagree with you. I think this is all about PR for BOTH their careers. Neither wants to retire or they would. They certainly have enough money. I also think that they have become good friends in this arrangement and both are getting just what they want out of it. It won't end any time soon. Theres no down side for NK. Why give it up?

Yeah, could be Urban Myths! But what I want to know, does orb's aussie accent sound extra thick on this clip? You dont think this clip would happen to be from an interview orb gave to an aussie radio show I've been reading about posted over at monkeyland? Was he juicing up his accent just for the locals?
Yeah, again orb's "domestic bliss" is of little concern to me...this so called "fairy tale marriage" will continue till it all falls apart at whatever point that it evenually does! But, as I maintained for years...it is NOT a winner as it pertains to his career. Again, orb playing up his "personal relationship" with his wife does not charge up his fansies... who DO get charged up by his "frosted highlights" and "open shirt to his naval" The "ball and chain" is just an unwanted distraction to them!

FadingFan, KU obviously doesn't feel that good music is the key to success. Hype, exposure and the media - NK's formula - is the key. And you can't argue that since being with her, he has had plenty of press and has been considered one of the top artists in Nashville in spite of the type of music hes putting out. Hes always one of the top five nominated for major awards. Hes has successful tours (due to the other artists on the bill). All with a decline in CD sales and no increase in his fan base. Not bad. He gets his name out there and hes getting the wealth he wanted.

In my opinion, NK was about to face problems in her career which is why she needed a husband to increase her media exposure to keep it all going. Keith and Sunday provided that until the end of 08'. But her downfall was inevitable. Not only because of her facial procedures but because of her string of flops year after year.

Its not a lasting formula for either of them. As we're seeing now. But its very obvious how they use each other and manipulate the media to try to hype their careers.

To your last point, who knows how KU feels about love. He certainly never committed to the other women he professed to love. If this is an open marriage or a business arrangement where his private life is his own (as some believe) that may be very satisfying to him.

In this edition of "Insomniac Theater 3000"...

...so as the countdowns to the release of orb's next cd on Nov. 16...I thought I would re-visit what I believe is a very important promotional tool...and what I truly feel is a reasonable gauge to what the "regular" buying public are more apt to be "looking" into when it comes to their country music consumerism! So back on Sept. 25 I posted the youtube channel viewing totals for the top country performers...and of which orb was of course in last place in views of his channel and videos. So, since orb's cd will mainly have competition from Rascal flatts cd which is also dropping on the 16th of Nov. So here are the updated Youtube channel views and video views totals for the past 2 months...

Orb

Sept 26

channel views- 618,339 total views.

Total upload views- 9,429,016 views

Nov. 5

Channel views- 661,478 views

Total upload views- 9,868,353 views

Rascal flatts

Sept. 26

Channel views- 840,583 views

Total upload views- 46,692,951 views

Nov. 5

Channel views- 911,742 views

Total upload views- 50,193,718 views

...so the total views, for the past 2 months for each country performer

Orb

Channel views= 43,139 views

Total upload views= 439,337 views

Rascal flatts

Channel views= 71,160 views

Total upload views= 3,500,767

Yes, that total video views is A MASSIVE mismatch isnt it?! Again, orb's videos received 439k views in the last two months...BUT... Rascal flatts videos recieved 3 MILLION MORE VIEWS THAN ORB'S VIDEOS! Now, of course, we will plainly see on Nov 16 whether my little "promotional gauge' here is any reasonable indicator. Of course, to bolster my point, I will point out once again that swifty gets the MOST views of her videos on youtube AND she also sells the most cds as well. Another set of numbers I have submitted in the past were the total of cds rascal and orb's PREVIOUS cds had sold in their first week. And those numbers are:

Orb- 171k cds sold.

Rascal flatts- 351k cds sold

Now as for their current singles videos for their new albums...the numbers are...

orb
Put you in a song= 54,335 views
4-1/2 weeks

Rascal flatts
Why Wait= 135,128 views
7-1/2 weeks

Now, of course ONE thing I can predict with almost complete certainty is...orb WILL NOT have the #1 album on Billboard the week after the cd is released into stores as he did last year! Just a list of the most recognizable performers also dropping cds on nov 16....kid rock, nelly, ironically, bryan adams....bruce springsteen, rihanna, Pink, james blunt and not insignificantly, the tv show, Glee xmas album as well.

There is something dramatically wrong with this picture. I get he may actually love her, convinced himself he does because right now it is easier to stay with what you got than to do it all over again. He has actually learned to love what he has. It works.

The music is crap. I didn't think I would or could honestly say this CD could be worse than the last two. I believe the Painful ablum is better than what he has put out since getting all better in rehab.

My take. I don't believe any of it. It is way too perfect, way to simple, way over his head in perfect love. Alot of artists are married, some write songs about their spouses but they also have other passions in life. Now his passion is driving a car. One thing I noted about him driving around, he indicated that is the last place where you have total isolation. Hmmm...

This "marriagte" has run its course. Nobody cares about them, (why are we here some may ask - because it is fun!) Even the die hards are sick of it. It is not even about the music anymore but because it isn't. You can tell it was a rush job. I used to wait anxiously for new music. Think I will pass on this garbage.

I do believe he is sabotaging his career on purpose. He is way better than what he is putting out there. He can't be serious and think this is his best. He loves the adoration from his fans, I can't understand why he would jeopardize that. If his dwindling fan base can't handle the new stuff, what about selling out his shows, awards, the like? Something is coming down the pike. I can smell it.

"What you're looking at is the difference between an evolving young adult and a content adult," says his manager, Borman Entertainment founder Gary Borman. "He's constantly evolving and changing, but he's arrived at a place where his life is balanced and it's giving him what he needs. Therefore he is comfortable speaking about it. When you're not clear on who or what you are and you're in search [of that], it's really hard to talk about."

Hmm, it's giving him what he needs - does that mean all the luxury items he could ever dream of at his disposal? So back then, he couldn't talk about his previous relationships because he valued his private life. If he wasn't getting out of those relationships what he needed, why did he shack up and propose to those women? Oh that's right - he needed to eat and a roof over his head. I'm sure Niki's boys love hearing this crap after he shacked up and proposed to their mom while accepting him into their family.

He has no clue what love really means. Yep, I smell a gold digger!

I don't know, it sounds like a contract to me. Please tell me that a person that is so image conscious is going to be ok with the man she is suppose to be married to just run around openly. Now I know this is just a charade it's so phoney you can't put your mind to believe anything else. All the spouting KU does just makes it all the more unbelieveable. But an open marriage? Oh yes, just do what you want but don't get caught. Not possible he don't have that kind of privacy any longer. Someone would just love to get a pic. Or would love to spill the beans like JJ's trashy conquests. No one keeps things quiet anymore.

Look at what Kidman had to do to keep pics of whatever she was doing in the park. She had her henchman beat the crap out of those guys even with their cameras running. She didn't care just as long as she got all the pics back! She kicked that one pap herself and stole the guy's camera. She also paid millions to keep it out of the mags. I personally believe she was adjusting her rubber belly, others believe she was having fun with her trainer. Whatever, she didn't want it out there and she did whatever to make sure it stayed quiet.

So the way I see it she wants him to spout this crap and he is being paid well to ruin his career. When he doesn't have a career for her to market she will fire his arse!!! It is just that simple this is business as usual with this old HW broad!!

I understand what you're saying Fading Fan, but that went out the the baby bath water. Once she decided to acquire that child she has been pushing the perfect marriage. Well my dear, you can't have it both ways. An open marriage is not by any means a perfect one. It means you are looking for another perfect romance cause it's not happening with what you got.

Her phrase as far as I can remember the garbage was, "Its the infidelity of the mind that is unforgivable not the infidelity of the body." Now please, she knew when she hogged tied him that she was not going to keep him on a leash he had better things to do. So just incase he strayed she had it covered. Well, that was a long time ago. Now she has built up this perfect marriage and family relationship and he is stuffing it down her throat and everyone elses!! I don't know if she is aware of how this is not going well for her but it sure isn't going well for him! I believe he is going to sink his career and therefore her only positive PR. So when she doesn't see the worth for paying a high maintenance fee for a has been she is going to cut her losses. It's inevitable, her own people will counsel her to do just that!!

It bothers me that Keith does not sing about reality, anymore. Country music is supposed to be about real life; it's relateable music. It gets harder and harder to relate to Keith's music, because not everyone has found there soulmate or has the perfect love life (By the way, I am positive he exaggerates his). There are broken hearts out there, people searching for a way, needing advice or comfort in song maybe, and he no longer provides that. He sings of the kind of love that everyone wishes they had, but is impossible to get. NO love is perfect. No life is perfect.

I do agree that it seems he is no longer about the music and more about her, and that's sad, but it is HEARTLESS for you to wish heartbreak on him (her leaving him, him becoming unsuccessful). That is not right and although I agree with a lot of the things you all are saying I do NOT agree with that. I am a better person than that, and I only wish him peace and happiness with NK. If he truly loves her, that is. If not, then I hope he finds his true heart, slips out of this situation and realizes she is no good for him before it is too late.

So in this edition of "Insomniac Theater 3000...

so I was perusing the innertubes...and as the CMA's are coming up this wed...I figured I'd google them...and I came upon this live blog of last years cma's at a site called TVrecapSite.com. It's a snarky and humorous little piece...although no name given to the blogger...a woman...as you will see. Here are a few choice and interesting quotes...

http://tvrecapsite.com/country-music-award/

Country Music Award!!!

"Alright peeps my new fav show, Modern Family, is being pre-empted this week by the Country Music Awards, can you say BITTER!!! I’ll try not to be to cynical when blogging about some of this years winners and the DAYUM you should have looked in the mirror before you left your house, and let’s face it we’re talking CMAs there are gonna be a lot of bad outfits and poorly fitting cowboy hats."

"Taylor Swift kicked off the show singing her Joe Jonas bashing song Forever and Always. I love Taylor. Her songs are fun… ok here’s the BUT!! Sweetie CANNOT Dance!!! It’s kind of painful to watch her attempt at movement."

"Miranda Lambert was next up with a performance of her new man bashing single White Liar. This girl knows how to write a man bashing song!!! This song is no Gunpowder and Lead but it does get the foot tapping. And yes people this sistah listens to country music!!!"

"Carrie Underwood performs that song that I really don’t like, Cowboy Casanova. The performance was interesting. She tried channeling her inner Burlesque, what that has to do with the song I really couldn’t tell ya, but she did it well."

"Daughtry and Vince Gill came together for the next performance. So I’ve seen Chris Daughtry, Kellie Pickler, and Carrie Underwood. It’s like an AI reunion…Simon where you at??? The Gill/Daughtry collaboration Tennessee Lights well it was very NICE!!! Vince, you need to give Wynonna some pointers on aging well."

So, again...snarky...humorous and slightly irreverant...not unlike what you might read here on this blog. BUT...not so much when she gets to orb...

"Ketih Urban performed next. This girl gave up her obsession with Tim McGraw temporarily for Mr. Nicole Kidman. There’s something so extremely sexy about this man that makes no sense!!! The way he holds his guitar and his delicious Australian accent. I might have to forget about obsessing about Tim again. Ohh HELL I’ll just drool over both of these country studs!!!"

So...orb is extremely sexy...that makes no sense? It's sexy...how he holds his guitar? And his aussie accent is "delicious?" She'll "drool over those country studs? Well...we surely have a ripe candidate for membership at monkeyland here dont we! Monkeys...sign her up...STAT! But...but of course the one main issue that is missing here is ANY mention whatsoever...of orb's actual musical performance or even which song orb sang! Orb could have just been standing there reading the phonebook for all this woman was aware of. Now, I have no doubt this woman is now a certified paying member of monkeyland...and I also have no doubt her first action as a paying member was to buy a few posters to slap on her walls and a few t-shirts with the orb on them she could wear to bed and let her imagination just take her away! BUT... what I'm also pretty sure of is by her reaction to orb's appearence at a MUSIC award show...she hasnt bothered to order any of the orb's music cds...you know, what orb actually releases and makes his living at! It's all "frosted highlights" and 'phallic guitar" poses. You know, like this one...

...just wanted to add...I just got through watching a skit on SNL...where Facebook Founder Mark Zuckerberg was satired on "Weekend Update"...and when the film, "The Social Network" came out bascially calling zuckeberg a "scheming backstabber accused of stealing the idea for Facebook." So they razzed zuckerberg in the skit for going on oprah and donating $100 million dollars to assist schools in Newart...only to counter the bad press he got from the movie! And then I recalled how orb had just recently visited Facebook headquarters and how zuckerberg got his picture taken with orb and then posted it on his Facebook page? Yeah, I thought...how perfect is that...orb associating with the "image impaired" zuckerberg! It reminded me of orb's "cozying up" to the massively "image damaged" and "confederate D!@#" and "hood passed... napalm! And now add the "zuckered" zuckerberg of struggling image impaired lunkheads to orb impeccible public aquantances! So what's next? Is orb's "brain trust" gonna have orb appear...oh...maybe on some tv show in the near future...with I dont know...that "double" adulterous and "two unions" homewreaker LeAnn Rimes...oh wait...

http://www.rttnews.com/ArticleView.aspx?id=1422599

Been a while. I've been reading this blog daily but just haven't commented. OK I'm going to put it like this (JMO). I am a HUGE New Orleans Saints fan & have been for over 25 years. I'm Cajun born & bred & will be until I'm dead. I've been to the SuperDome MANY times for years & watched my Saints lose practically every game. I NEVER EVER wore a paper bag or stopped being a fan just because they were losing for years. Oh, by the way they won the SuperBowl last year for the first time in the franchise's history. Took a while but I NEVER gave up.

Now compare that to me being a Keith Urban fan since he first came onto the scene in the U.S. in country music. Sure I was there when he was at the top & everything he sang went to #1. Do I always expect that, of course not. Do I have to dissect every little bit of his personal life to be a fan or enjoy his music. Heck no. I am a fan (through the good, the bad and the ugly). Unless he commits a federal offense or actually acts like an *** toward somebody personally I am a Keith Urban fan for life. Do I put him on a pedestal or worship him. I definitely say NOT. He is a human being with flaws & imperfections. Can I judge his relationship with his wife by what I hear or read. NOT at all. Should his personal life make a difference to me---ONLY if he does something undeniably horrible to his wife, child, her family or his family. Don't think that is in Keith(again JMO). OK now to his music--------he plays, writes and sings -it's not rocket science or anything that will change civilization as we know it. It's a past time of mine, it's country music, it's something I can take or leave-it doesn't make me or break me. What Keith Lionel Urban & Nicole Mary Kidman-Urban do in their lives has no bearing on me one way or the other. The make music and act. Nothing I need or can't live without. They & ONLY they know what goes on in their marriage, their careers and in their personal lives. It really is nothing to me one way or the other. If you think his music is suffering due to his wife, fine your opinion. If you don't want to spend your hard earned money on his music or her movies, fine your choice. But really it's not that all consuming in the scheme of things.

JUST MY LITTLE OLD OPINION & my take on things. I will get this new CD and I will give Keith's music the benefit of the doubt. Heven forbid if I was judged by one time span of my career or by one product of my work. Guys life is too short & personally what Keith & Nicole do really doesn't do a thing for me one way or the other. I will continue to be a SAINTS fan until death as well as a Keith Urban fan (bearing anything unconceivable). Take care & just enjoy that you can rnjoy what you choose.

But for some reason she got into I have to be married before TC and then it was or ELSE!!! Well why should she/he/or anyone think the American public are all stupid. We saw what it really was and witnessed the dramatic falsehood it turned out to be!! I for one will not believe it was anything but that ever!!

Well, apparently Amazon.com has samples of the 4 remaining songs on orb's rather lackluster 8 song cd. You can peruse them here...

http://www.amazon.com/Get-Closer-Keith-Urban/dp/B004259BMM/ref=ntt_mus_ep_dpt_1

...here are the selected sample lyrics of the remaining 4 songs...

All for You
You changed by life,
you changed by ways,
I don't even recognize myself these days.
It must be a reflection of you,
only you.

Georgia Woods
"That you cast on me
with your kiss
It's like I've lost control
of my senses.
This is not like me
to give in so easily."

Right on Back to You
"The rains coming down
hard tonight.
I pull the car over
now I'm sitting alone on the side of the roadside"

Shut out the light
"What are we trying to achieve, baby
what are we trying to win
I said the same thing 3 hours ago
now I'm saying it again
And I know you and I well enough
to know neither one of us
is giving in.
Well, baby I love you
and I wont go to bed angry"

Yeah, definately the remaining songs on this skimpy cd sound like filler...with "All for you" truly sounding like a demo recording...yeah the Beatles description of that sound fits it...its' "plastic soul!" Now again, will be interesting to see how potential buyers will react to the theme of the cd. His absolute "ode to kidman" Will they really be that interested in orb's mundane dediction to his marriage?

The facts "revealed" are soooo fasinating..."He turned 43 this year...his marriage celebrated its 4th anniversary...his kid turned two years....WOW! His accomplishments are remarkable! Oh and guess what...he never could "accept" love before...now he's 100 percent in...ZZZZzzzzz....
For me, the most relevent qoute...

"And Keith Urban entered a recording studio to sing a new collection of mostly sunny love songs.

(dont you mean "Silly Love Songs...orb actually mentions McCartney's "Silly Love Songs" later in this article...we get it)

"It was challenging," Urban said in October, "but I had a lot of faith that my job at that time was to make a record."

Yeah, I AM aware this cd was "just a job to make this record" for orb...it was a command from capnash to just rush it out ASAP. It's a throw away. And orb's very simple theme was "sunny love songs"...just like you know who...because orb hasnt the creativity or the imagination to have ANY other themes to draw on other than love songs...driving in his pickup...singing to the radio...parking by the lake and watching the stars at night...ZZZZZzzzz.

So in this edition of "Insomniac Theater 3000...

...so a notion hit me regarding this issue of orb jumping into the Target "deluxe" version of cds that seems to be the rage right now. No doubt orb is jumping into it because swifty does it...and he has to follow whatever she does in a vain attempt to try and keep up. Also, I think it got orb's attention last year when Prince, only selling HIS cd at Target stores, ALMOST outsold orb's cd last year...and finally, orb's new "non-traditional" contract with capitol no doubt has orb's "brain trust" experimenting with these new fangled sales techniques! Now again, swifty offers a standard cd with 14 songs and a "deluxe" cd exlusive to Target...but from what I see, her standard cd contains ALL 14 songs that the deluxe version has...and also has 3 bonus tracks with videos. Now Rascal Flatts, who's cd drops the same day as orb...also have a standard cd...and a "deluxe" version, only it sells exlusively at Walmart. Now RF's standard cd has 11 songs...and the "enhanced" version from what I can see will ALSO contain the 11 songs of the standard cd...with bonus video. So basically, what I'm getting at is that both swifty and RF's standard and deluxe version cds are pretty much identical when it comes to the original music...ie: if you buy the standard or the deluxe cd...you'll get all the original music. And that IS NOT the case with orb's standard and deluxe versions of his cd! The two versions are extremely different...the standard cd ONLY contains 8 original songs. The deluxe version has those 8 songs...PLUS it has 3 more original songs not available in the standard cd...and it contains 4 live songs. So that begs the question, "why would anyone, ESPECIALLY a diehard fansie"... WANT to buy orb's standard 8 song cd? For, if they did, they WOULDNT be getting all the original songs available! They would then have to buy the deluxe version as well, just to get those 3 original songs! Which of course is what the orb wants...he said so! But I imagine alot of his fans will simply buy the deluxe cd...AND leave alot of the standard cds sitting in the bins at Target AND other outlets! So I can see the orb, in a pretty inept move by his "brain trust" really "splitting" the sales of his cd by putting out two diverse versions of the cd. Are they actually going to ship out say, 500k standard cds to outlets...AND 500k deluxe cds? OR do they simply ship out 500k of half standard and half deluxe. cds...and many standard cds remain on the store shelfs? NO WAY does capnash actually ship out a million cds to store outlets expecting orb will sell them all! AGain, well just have to wait and see...

What a bunch of horse puckers!! Please that Tennesean article is atrocious!!!! I'm sorry but KU has lost his mind!! He has gone to the funny farm without moving a foot!!!

This is exactly what tells you it is soooooooooo phoney!!

Sure he has had a few very personal relationships. And the ones that meant alot to the dear boy never got talked about.

But this, (my private life) has caused flap jaw all of a sudden. For months now we have heard nothing but this dribble. If I didn't dislike Kidman before I certainly do now.

I wonder what it costs to brainwash a person?? I guess we now know where he was for those 30 days that he was missing. Well when you are drinking and snorting whatever at the sametime your mind is open to suggestion (enforcement of strong suggestion) he must have had a time of it cause he is completely off his gord!!!!!!!

Please will someone put us out of our misery!!! This is just interminable I don't ever want to hear that woman's name again. Even if it meant great gossip I just can't listen. When I think she is going to be in a movie I won't even watch the trailer no less pay to see anything she is in.

When KU is out on tour and is singing his little heart out, I hold my breath and cringe thinking any minute he is going to open his big mouth about BBG and I am ready to turn him off!!! What a shame!! I know he is getting paid big bucks but Lord it is not worth losing the one thing that was his and his alone.

He don't have a career any longer let's be honest here. He killed it when he started working overtime for her!!!

I guess we could say seven years ago he was human now he is Kidman's robot!! YUCK !!!!

Yes F.I.N.E, I am the kind of person that when I see something so outrageous I go off!! I'm glad I gave FF a good chuckle at least there is still some humor to this.

I think it's more like a total shock for me to read the lyrics of these songs and then read what he spews in those articles. It is disturbing to me also. I really believe he is destroying his career. He is never going to do anything with that label. You can't look for new talent when the new talent think your a has been!!

A kept robot! And what does that say for Big Baby Girl!! Well it says she better be happy with him cause she isn't going to find anything better.

Her reputation is that she bought him because she was desperate!! Well now she can be stuck with a liablity for the rest of her days. They can sit there finally staring at each other 24/7 since nobody else will be interested. What a pair of jerks!!

She wanted adoration, well she got it till everyone is sick to death of her!! And sick to death of him for spewing all this garbage!!

How much is enough?? I think one day he is going to call a radio station and find a disconnected number!! Between the slathering of BBQ sauce and all this, she made me what I am today a BBQ entertainer.

I can see it now, for just $42.95 Keith Urban will play at your BBQ between the hours of 3 to 5 pm. He can't stay any later cause he has to make sure he is home to draw his exfamous wife's bath.

Way to go KU, you finally made it, a personal cabanna boy!!!

"maclen, I think AFY sums it up completely."

Yeah, Hatti...this cd, I think will ultimately sink based on this VERY one dimensional theme.
So back to it...seems this is what was meant by "stripped down" promo from capnash regarding this album...

http://www.countryweekly.com/keith_urban_get_closer_defying_gravity_platinum/news/5222

Keith Celebrates New Music, Platinum Album

"Keith Urban treated members of the radio and records industry to an advance listen of tunes from his upcoming album, Get Closer, yesterday (Nov. 8) at the Hard Rock Cafe in Nashville. With the Country Music Association Awards taking place on Nov. 10, Nashville is a hotbed of activity."

Typical orb "brain trust" strategy...PR the albums to "members of the radio and records industry"...I know how the monkeys themselves ARE SO concerned how the singles do on the "radio spins"
based country chart...and as for the "platinum" award...which Ive commented on before... HOW CONVIENT IT IS to get the platinum award only a few weeks before this album is to drop! Seems the sales numbers were only updated a few weeks before that as being at only 890k cds sold...and then capnash "ships" out 100k cd...and "poof" the cd goes platinum! Only one year and 7 months later...and in time for PR for his cd! WOW that's just so serpendipidous! I bet it must be actually embarrassing for the orb that just a week after swifty sells a million cds in one week...orb is JUST celebrating selling 1 mill cds...in almost 2 years time! And speaking of swifty...who you may recall, set upon a whirlwind of PR the week prior her cd dropping...seems what or where exactly the orb is PR-ing his cd is a mystery. THere is nothing over at monkeyland previewing any appearences for the orb...besides the CMA's tommorrow and the Extreme Makeover show on sunday. NOw, a search over at Rascal Flatts website, I was able to find these major promotional appearences in prior to RF's cd also dropping on Nov 16...

Nov. 15- Letterman show
Nov. 15 Ellen show
Nov. 15 CMT Invitation only
Nov. 16 NBC Today Show
Nov. 17 Jimmy Fallon Show'
Nov. 29 Abc CMA Country Christmas

If orb is appearing anywhere of note, as typical...it will be a mystery up until the last minute!

http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2010/11/09/keith-urban-goes-for-total-media-domination/

Q-You’ve taken some flack from your fans for the seemingly better and longer version of the album only being available at Target. What do you say to that?

orb-It’s not uncommon for artists to find someone to partner with them. That’s just the nature of where we are today in the music business."

Yeah...what an "emotionless"..."unempathetic" and rather "passionateless" answer from the orb dismissing his fansies! It's all about "business"... what his fansies may or may not think of it is irrelevent to him! Not unlike what his answer would also be about the whole "photoshopped" bait and switch Facebook poll on the cover pic! His fansie's will GET what he gives them, and they better like it! Ha! yeah, well we shall how many..."Like it"...

FF, I could understand her paying him a fee for being her escort. But all the rest that transpired was so outlandish that very few people could digest the hogwash!! Ok, so we discounted the hogwash. It wasn't to bad we had periods of nausea but then it would die down.

After Daytona just about two years ago it started, all this adoration. Miles of it to the point that if I were Kidman I would want to stick a sock in his big mouth. The more he talks the less people believe and the more sick they become.

(((((Now))))) he is sinking his career. He put up those covers for his fans to vote on. Not only did his fans vote, but actually the few she has, I believe, voted also. It was obvious most voted for him to be on the cover alone. The numbers were very clear. So who made the decision to ignore the results and go with the unpopular covers. Did he do that? Or did she pull rank and say, "I don't care I want the cover I want"!!!! Is she digging into deep pockets for this CD? Is all this redundancy her doing? Is she promoting the CD for all this regurgitation? Will she have all the control? Therefore we have to be subjected to the overbearing flapping gums of the most grateful!! Oh please!!! I would be most grateful never to hear one more word about BBG!!!

Sorry, I was going to post one liners but all my one liners got strung together!! Please forgive me for being so verbose. I will try to do better moving forward!! ((giggles))))

Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley and Keith Urban Rehearse for CMA Awards

" Want a preview of the CMA Awards? Keith Urban provided fans with just that when he Tweeted a picture of rehearsals on Tuesday.
Urban and the show's co-hosts, Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, will perform the opening number at the show Wednesday, which airs live on ABC (8 pm. ET)."

Apparently, it was decided that the show's hosts...you know, underwood and paisley...would open the show with a performance. Orb no doubt...BEGGED...PLEADED...to be allowed to play backup...and immediately ran to twitter to post a rehearsal pic...yeah yeah orb...you ARE STILL sooo relevant!
So, the CMA's are tommorrow...so what's the buzz out on the "virual streets"...

CMA Awards Predictions: Who Will Win on Country's Big Night?

ENTERTAINER:
"Look for Lady Antebellum to become the first vocal group to win the CMA's top prize since the Dixie Chicks back in 2000."

Male Vocalist
" (Blake Shelton's profile high with voters lately, so he is a favorite to pull off his first CMA win this year."

http://www.theboot.com/2010/11/09/cma-awards-predictions-2010/

CMA Awards Predictions

Entertainer of the Year: In a category with several newcomers that may have surprised some people, there is an artist whose time has come. Brad Paisley has been building towards this moment for the last few years, and we believe strongly that 2010 will be the 'Year of the Brad.'

Male Vocalist of the Year: "The CMA nominations are such a surprise mix of new and established artists this year, it is difficult to truly guess how the pulse of the votership may be beating. For this category, The Boot is going to go out on a limb for another first-time vocalist winner: Dierks Bentley. Dierks is an artist who released solid music in 2010, including the daring 'Up on the Ridge'"

http://www.the9513.com/the-44th-annual-cma-awards-predictions/

Entertainer of the Year:
Will/Should win: Brad Paisley

Male Vocalist of the Year:
Will win: Brad Paisley
Should win: Dierks Bentley

...and the rest...the consensus by other online predictions for Entertainer and Male vocalist seems to be either vet paisley or newbies Lady Ant or Bentley. Orb's very weak Defying Sales had NOTHING in contention in the MUSIC catagories. Of course, this orb is a "long shot" could be a "dark horse" story...that the entertainment industry just LOVES. But of course my prediction is no love for orb. Chesney's smoked orb's live tour last year, and swifty is still smoking everyone in cd sales...BUT...they werent ever nom'd in the Entertainer catagory...so really, take all this "best" of country music in stride. So it's basically, lets either reward the vet who's turn it is..or let's acknowledge the future of country with the newbie...just as they did last year giving swifty Entertainer. But you gotta figure it will really sting for orb to be shut out this year...as it is plainly obvious that orb REALLY covets the CMA Entertainer title...the "benefit for orb" and the "Almost" charity show on Extreme Makeover moved a week later to shill orb's new cd" instead are clear evidence!

maclen, your right. Keith has become VERY one dimensional. He has reduced it all to NK and the marriage. In my opinion, hes doing it deliberately believing that anytime he mentions her its PR for him and it hypes him in the press. And that in turn, is whats kept his career going since hooking up with her. As you've said in the past, he peeked in 04'-05'. Since then, its not his music or a huge fan base thats kept his career going. Its the high profile marriage thats provided the "hype and exposure". And he'll need that more than ever without the support of Capitol. So really, its no suprise that hes kicked it up a notch and hes milking it for all its worth!

Is it just me or does it look like Keith has been visiting NK's plastic surgeon?

Let's keep adding to the predictions:

http://www.roughstock.com/blog/2010-cma-awards-picks-predictions

Male Vocalist of the Year

Will Win: Blake Shelton (in an upset)

Should Win: Brad Paisley

Entertainer of the Year

Will Win: Brad Paisley

Should Win: Zac Brown Band

(All they could say about Urban was that he puts on a fantastic show. Everybody else had radio and album success.)

http://www.norwichbulletin.com/entertainment/x1471833986/Jimmy-Lane-This-year-s-CMA-predictions-are-in

And this guy apparently has a successful rate of predicting the CMAs in the past:

Spoiler alert! Don’t read this column if you want to be surprised when the envelopes are opened at the 2010 CMA Awards. I have an uncanny ability to predict who the winners will be. If you don’t believe me, just ask my partner Shelly Martinez who always loses the annual bet. She has bought me many a breakfast sandwich. The show will air on Nov. 10 on CBS.

For Entertainer of the Year it should be a horse race between Brad Paisley and Lady Antebellum. There is no question that Lady Antebellum is the big story for 2010 and they will win the most awards but the most coveted of them all is going to Paisley. Paisley had the biggest tour and sold out Gillette Stadium. Lady A was just an opening act for Tim McGraw most of the year. They could very well win this award next year.

Paisley has won Male Vocalist of the year for the past four years. This will be his fifth.

Notice nothing mentioned about Urban in the EOTY prediction?

Here's more:

Entertainer of the Year

Should Win:

Miranda Lambert – Kevin
Brad Paisley
Keith Urban
Zac Brown Band – Leeann, Dan, Tara

Will Win:

Lady Antebellum
Miranda Lambert – Tara
Brad Paisley – Kevin, Leeann, Dan
Keith Urban
Zac Brown Band

Absolutely no votes for Urban!

Male Vocalist of the Year

Should Win:

Dierks Bentley – Kevin, Leeann, Dan, Tara
Brad Paisley
Blake Shelton
George Strait
Keith Urban

Will Win:

Dierks Bentley – Kevin, Dan
Brad Paisley – Leeann, Tara
Blake Shelton

maclen, Can a lot of money alter the outcome of the awards?

I've been doing a little study over this past year and have come to the conclusion that when KU goes overboard with praise for his moose it seems it's something that isn't fan driven.

I believe when he feels he has really won something fair and square he omits the praise. It's not many times but it has happened.

The only song I feel is true that brings me to the light side of KU is YGF. This gives me the same feeling as BL. LHS is another that does not reflect his moose as far as I can see. I will listen to GW this one I haven't heard yet.

As far as purchasing this CD? I will not put one penny in the moose's cavernous. Not one!!! As far as I'm concerned the old moose should retire and put her dead looking body on her cattle stud in Oz!!!! He may as well be the stable boy there for all the good he is now!!!!

I just promoted him from Cabanna boy to cleaning out the stables. Well, if he is drawing bathes for the moose anything is a step up!! ((giggles)))

Hatti said...
"maclen, Can a lot of money alter the outcome of the awards?"

I dont believe money plays very much in award shows...unlike say radio...where it is clear the "payola' from the labels is what gets the spins and plays...something the monkey's THEMSELVES readily acknowledge! Networks are concerned with viewership...that's why they WOULD begin to now highlight the "younger" performers who do get more views of their online videos and sell most cds. EVERY network is aiming for that most lucrative demographic of "18 to 35 aged viewers."

Kidman was not present there...if you look at this getty image...

...you can clearly see it is not kidman. As you'll recall, she DID attend with orb last year. So again, it begs to question a previous post of mine regarding paltrow actually performing this year at the CMA's. Will kidman attend or NOT attend this years CMA's because of the presence of paltrow? Again, would be interesting to see which it is.

maclen: "Will kidman attend or NOT attend this years CMA's because of the presence of paltrow?" It's a wonder how paltrow got this role since she like NK is unpopular and hasn't had a hit for a long, long time (with exception of Iron Man but she stars as a sidekick.) Many people wondered how she'd remained a star with no hits. Then this movie involving country music world occurs, but what were the odds she could star in it? Paltrow was said to be so incensed after that mishap with NK...maybe this was paltrow's way of giving NK comeuppance for snubbing her. It certainly gave paltrow the opportunities to hubnob with the best of that world NKKU are trying to thrive in. Wonder how hard she had to try to get that role...how many "gratuities" she had to give out. What investors in the right mind would've agreed to produce a film starring her...she's the other box office poison. NK better watch out, paltrow in thick with the top tier of that world, the ultimate goal is hers...she had joined the popular clique in the very world NKKU are trying to thrive...she could snub you! (meow.....)

Yeah, smorgas91 and Hatti, mutt WAS there...seems she couldnt pass up the "network telecast" awards. Am just watching the start of the telecast...I bet mutt is really green that "lalaland's" paltrow is being fawned over by underwood and paisley at the start of the show! So, having just checked with the live blogging of the awards... yes...orb was shut out. All that "benefit for orb" self shilling...in the name of the so called "all for the hall"...was for naught once again. I'm just wondering...with paisley now having taken the "Entertainer" at last...will that officially mean the END of his and orb's being nominated for that award again next year? Well, hopefully so. Orb DOESNT deserve the nomination EVERY YEAR! So, the "decline" is clear and PRESENT...no more noms for THE MUSIC...and now, orb's lost both of his "obligatory" noms...I would expect NO NOMS next year...but with the "politics" of irrationality that permiates the entertainer industry...I wouldnt be surprised.

maclen said...

...so...just got through watching orb performing his "teen beat" single on the CMA's. Isnt the 40-something orb embarrassed to be up there...in his "strategically torn" pants with key chain flopping around... and t-shirt"...with his 'frosted highlighted" bangs dancing over his face... prancing around like some 14 year old teen playing air guitar in the mirror? Now, after the very poignant song from swifty...and the very "theatrical" performance from sugarland...orb comes out with his really goofy version of Kurt Cobain! And as the certified Beatlemaniac...dont think I missed the VERY "Yellow Submarine-esque back ground orb was swishing to! ORB IS SOOOO DERIVATIVE!

Yeah mikki, for me the music is everything...and with his complete lack of "music" noms, it just proves orb HAS been coasting on these obligatory noms. As I mentioned last night, wouldnt be surprised now that paisley has taken Entertainer, he ISNT nominated again next year, BUT orb has been nominated for the past 5 years...since he took the award! I would gather the reason IS his "frosted highlights!"

Fading Fan said...
"Maclen, loved the description you gave of his appearance and performance, however, I have to say I was a little relieved not to see him in one of the plaid shirts that he has been wearing for 2 years now."

Yeah, FF... it seemed to me that orb seemed "extra" wired in his performance. Thought he looked extra silly how he was constantly squating down and pumping his left leg! And a funny comment I read over at monkeyland about his shirt. A monkey pointed out how the shirt orb was wearing during the opening number by underwood and paisley...orb was wearing the SAME shirt he was wearing in the pic of rehearsals he posted on twitter! Your comment on the plaid shirt he's basically worn for the past two years...besides being a huge indication of orb's very "unimaginative" and "un-creative" stage presence...it could also be a remnant of his "Addicted" days...where he would no doubt fall asleep in his clothing...only to just wear them the next few days!

No Fading Fan, I'm not buying it. This is the comment on the pictures from the web site you shared. First off, I'm not seeing her showing any affection towards him, and the obvious answer is because the camera is on them. She wants the world to know that she is adored by this man. Did you ever think the oh so private Keith Urban would act like this in front of a photographer or basically the paparazzi? She's nothing but a manipulator.

i actually loved the video during his performance.

as much excitement as he would like to PROJECT ONTO HIS WIFE with this song--it just ain't working for me. i'm not HEARING HER in this song. i AM HEARING HIS EXCITEMENT and that's it. it's a shout out, yes, this is a couch jumping song; but, this song doesn't turn me off so much like some of his past odes to her.

what i'm trying to say is i don't think the excitement i'm hearing was "inspired" by HER in a real sense. so he is suppose to be in the car daydreaming about his unattainable wife, lol. i think writing with sarah is what inspired all these car and radio songs so really this song is a reflection his writing relationship with sarah. it's pretty convoluted, i know... but that's what i'm getting out of this, totally!

yes, i think he is excited (or wants to be excited) to be with nick because he thinks she is a catch and he believes she saved him so he's indebted to her. i just don't think she thrills him and inspires him on a deeper level like a MUSE would. i think their relationship is pretty superficial and boring together. i think they are just a staple for each other to hold on to.

ok i'm done ranting and rambling... i think there is some deliberate PROJECTION going on...

Sorry, FF, I'm not buying it. These pix were posed.

Show me this kind of affection when KUNK believe themselves to be alone -- as in no cameras around anywhere -- and THEN you'll have me convinced.

But these were posed for a pap waving a camera.

blue sky, it was not just a stupid statement about Sunday, it was KEITH'S quip that Kidman rephrased...and killed. Keith has said that Sunday will probably say "G'day, y'all." A cute enough quip. Kidman had to butcher it by breaking it into two.

More proof that she's useless without a script.

On another note: Why did Keith rub Kidman's belly during the broadcast? Is he pulling a Kidman in subtly hinting about a possible pregnancy?

I always get a kick...and always love to exposed this kind of inside pundit pure and blatant shilling in the guise of "insightful analysis!" Case in point... from "American songwriter"...

http://www.americansongwriter.com/2010/11/keith-urban-and-target/

What All Artists Can Learn From Keith Urban And Target

...SO...wise and thoughful sages'...what should artist's learn from orb and target, precisely?

"In a move that recalls what Taylor Swift did with the deluxe version of Speak Now, which is being sold exclusively at Target, Keith Urban will also partner with the mega-store for the November 15 release of his new album, Get Closer."

"Urban is also reaching out to fans in another interactive way. In a move akin to a Taylor Swift tactic, Urban has stayed in touch with fans by posting video blogs on his website throughout the recording process of the album."

(...yes, artist's SHOULD learn from orb...simply...BE LIKE SWIFTY...)

"While the Target play is largely an attempt to boost physical CD sales at the store (and Target.com), the campaign around Get Closer also leverages social media. Each day leading up to the November 16 album release, Urban and Target will post new tracks on their Facebook pages."

(seems that this article neglects to mention the itunes song previews each week...that swifty engaged for her "million selling in one week cd")

and the article also mentions the Guitar Center songwriter contest...so as the article concludes...

"If there’s something that artists big and small can learn from these models, it’s that the new distribution model is that there isn’t “one” distribution model. One reason Swift’s record did as well as it did, aside from it’s musical merits, is that it was so omnipresent during release week. As we learned from Swift’s million-seller, distribution has to be innovative, and no marketing idea should be turned down on principal, alone."

But as we all saw when orb "tried to be like swifty" with the totally "poppy" whole crazy cd...orb cannot pull it off as successfully! Orb's clearly now trying "PR on the cheap"... trying NOW to get with the new media...when his "least views" Youtube channel shows...orb aint down with the "youts" of today!

I thought of that too, but she let her roots go grey when she was blonde in the first trimester. She's been dying it red steadily now. I think she is really pushing medical issues if she has another one.

Well dearies, let me first say that I think he has taken some method acting lessons. I'm sure he pulled those pics from some place in his history of relationships that were as close to real as KU is capable of.

Let me also say it cost her alot of money to try to convince the whole world she was(as they say in Oz) up the Duff!!!

She has never nor will she ever have a child like a normal person. I believe traney is absolutely without any apparatis to have a child. In fact both of them are without the capability.

I think all this lovey dovey stuff is due to the large cavernous that has put a label in the dear boy's hands. Everytime she pays for something he has to make sure she gets what she wants in return.

This time she is throwing good money after good money !! That label will never be productive and she is going to pay upkeep till she gets sick of delving into her backup piggy bank.

This really aged adolescent in 40's likes to apply suggestive, drop hints, coy hidden messages about his inner thoughts to people (yeah, like using N on his guitar when they were dating, ad nauseum about his marriage, love for her, etc.) My guess is if he openly rubbed her tummy in full view of PR circus, that was intentional, don't think was due to her not feeling well, there is some message here, people... ...so, just an update on the orb's first single...of course from the standpoint of the monkeys themselves.

http://www.keithurban.net/forum/index.php?topic=40815.975

Urbanalysis for Put You In A Song on the Billboard Chart

...well, basically the "urbananalyst" is very concerned the single is, not very surprising, struggling. Evidently the "urbananalyst' made a complete week by week "projection' of how the single might perform...based on, as he/she explained at the start of the thread, by the consensus of the chart performances of orb's past 7 singles. So, after 8 weeks orb's single is at #14...the "urbananalyst" projection was it would be at #11. Now, based on orb's mediabase's below average weekly gains...the "urbananalyst also predicts the orb may stay at #14 for next week as well. Now at this point, I have no reason whatsoever to doubt this "urbananalyst"...he clearly has "sources" at Mediabase and the Billboard chart compilers. And he clearly expected orb, if his single was "performing" as his past singles had on the Billboard charts... he expected orb's song to be into the top 10 at #8 at the time of orb's cd release on Nov 16. Last week, the "urbananalyst had to downgrade HIS prediction that orb's single would make it to #1 from 99.9% to 60% probability. This week he's surmising that the single MUST do alot better in the future to at "least keep the top 5 as a respectable goal" for the single. Of course the monkeys are stumped...they DONT understand WHY that may be...they ARE calling in and requesting, they say...and basically are blaming Capnash's 'movers and shakers" for not "supporting" the single...(payola!)
But, of course, as a simple...and "unaffected" observer...I can point to a plethera of probable reasons! It could be the case of orb's clearly "shrinking" fanbase...not being able to sustain the usual "robocalling" support for call ins and requests. And it being clearly evident that the "shrinking" fanbase began immediately AFTER he hooked up with kidman...most fansie's were not that into kidman. And the fact that orb has decided, to mystifying logic...to actually and premediatedly "dedicating"... and proclaimed his cd is for and about kidman. All the songs, as the youtube video Fading fan posted above... orb proclaims..."there all infused by my wife here." And as to the precise reason the single IS curently struggling...as the news finally is confirmed...that as orb's contract with capnash was ending...orb's "brain trust" negotiated a "non-traditional" contract...you know...with no "360 effects"...therefore the label get NO cuts of orbs live show or merch and etc....and therefore are LESS apt to SUPPORT orb's single...no doubt letting orb handle his own "extra curricular" PR!

Your right hoosierlady. The belly rubbing is all about PR. As the story goes, NK wanted a second child at the beginning of 09' and Keith said "NO WAY". Her film career was completely stalled at that point because of Australia. Another child would give her a reason to be taking time off. Doubt shes planning another child now. Shes focused on another oscar nomination for Rabbit Hole. And the HBO movie starts filming in February 2011 (I think). If there is going to be another child it will be when NK needs an excuse for not having any film offers. JMO.

Hatti said...

Exactly mikki, also it takes a lot of planning to find a person that is saying she doesn't have one on staff willing.

You remember how ridiculous it was with this child. Moosie girl saying one date and her mother giving another. Then all of a sudden rushing into the so called labor and delivery and still being quite late compared to the child's real birthday.

It is not easy to try to milk as much PR as you can get and not have anyone notice how false it all is.

Of course that was the PR that cost her big bucks when she was caught on tape!!!

Now she has RH, Trespass, and then she is suppose to do an HBO movie and a Theatre gig!!! Who has time for six months of a rubber belly!!!!

Hatti said...

In reference to the video Fading Fan posted, he said all the songs were infused by his wife. All the songs Keith? Hmm, I didn't know you wrote all the songs on this album.

With regard to the Extreme Makeover question, so once again, he doesn't get his hands dirty to help someone out. He brought the family into the studio. Okay, that's exciting for about 15 minutes. Not impressed - considering he was in the studio working on an album anyway. What was I thinking? The family should have been thrilled because he is Nicole Kidman's husband.

On AA4 comment "That would make Sunday all of six months old."
Will guess this one if she wanted to go for baby #2 (assuming she did have baby #1--haha), it's not a far fetched notion for women in 40's to pop as many as they can while they can and it is possible for them to start thinking about the next one soon. She has said (if you could believe anything that pops in her head, afterall apparently doesn't use filters) many times about being blessed to have her baby #1 in her 40's so is aware about her biological clock (gotta keep up that she could conceive.) One thing is certain though, as she does gibberish, best not to give credibility to anything she utters as come next time she opens her mouth, something else will come out.

Ha! Yes, EVEN the songs NOT co-written by orb are now "infused" by kidman! Not sure if independant song writers Pahanish (Without You), Brust, Lucas and Johnson (You Gonna Fly) would be TOO happy to hear that! No doubt they had OTHER inspirations for those songs. But of course, orb NEEDED help...ALOT Of HELP...to come up with his "ode to kidman!" Of the 5 songs on his rather pathetic 8 song cd...that orb "co-wrote"...orb needed 5...count em' 5 different co-writers to write them. That doesn't indicate any type of true "inspiration!" That indicates to me a rather "workmanlike" and VERY uninspired hack. No "tunesmith" is the orb! Although not "workmanlike' enough for orb to pick up a hammer in support for the Christian school nearby Nashville...just another "partnership' in name only for the PR!

Yes, that site overhaul occured just today, Fading Fan. As you may have noticed, my comment posted last night was about the "urbananalysis' of orb's single at the monkeysite. Now today, I cannot get into their message board! So, am I correct in believing that now, ONLY paying or registered members can log into the forum! Ha! If so, then my mercilous mocking of the monkeymembers "despair" over the anemic performance of his single over here ...just may have forced the monkeys to "shut down" the "Public" viewing of their forum...JUST as the NKuseless forum was "shut down" to prying eyes when mutts career was shot and I was gleefully posting their disenchanted comments over her terrible film choices! So if true, again, it's a knee jerk and boneheaded move on the monkey's "brain trust'...for just as I pointed out when the NKuseless shut off their forum to prying eyes BUT their members, it not just keeps the "critical" eyes of mockers like me from their forums...but to any other interested eyes who may want to learn of the orb! Yes, IT IS SO SMART to keep the "views" of orb's fawnsite relegated to ONLY his shrinking and dwingling fansies! But then the orb would like to keep the true reality of his pathetic music and image from that critical eye...and keep all the focus on his "frosted highlights!"

Yeah, I have the same problem A440. It may be we have older outdated operating systems. I use an older Firefox. When I tried using another older version of Internet Explorer, was able to get to the message board, but when I click on a thread, it tells me I must be signed in to view that page! Perhaps other mythbusters with up to date operating systems...who are NOT monkeymembers...can inform us if THEY CAN view the monkeymembers message board! If NOT...you are right Hatti, the monkeys have now rather pathetically, "sheltered" the monkeymembers disapointing comments away from "critical' eyes! And IT IS an admission by the orb's "brain trust" that his career is headed into embarrassing decline...if he was actually doing GREAT...as they always insist...they wouldnt feel the knee jerk need to hide the monkeymembers comments from public...and critical comments like mine here! So, just to reiterate, IF the comments have been sequestered to "private eyes only"...then they have admitted to orb's CLEAR decline! HA!

Thanks for the info, Urban Myths...of course, I'm not at all surprised! But, when I was still commenting on kidman earlier this year...and was commenting on the NKuseless' more and more disenchanted comments on her...ie: "Nine" had been a complete flop...everyone in lalaland it seems...and paltrow had dropped out of her "Danish Girl" film...she signed up to do the sandler flick...they were NOT happy campers! So, they shut down public view of their message board...and of course, I have NOT been back to the NKUseless site. I forsee the same with monkeyland...who is going to want to pay to simply continue to read the forum? I forsee many many more simply skipping the site than joining. As to the orb's Promo schedule...yes you wont find it on the home page...BUT...you may have found it in the message board..which apparently... you CANT see unless your a member! AH, GREAT PR, monkeymods! Well, so far, two appearences on morning shows...the aforementioned Extreme makeover exploitiation of charity to sell his cd...and Oprah! Yes..oprah MAY be great at selling books...but her film and album influence I would say HAS NOT been as stellar...can anyone say, "Australia and Nine!" Then theres the half time show at a football game...HA!...yeah, orb's "frosted highlights" and his goofy prancing should be a HUGE hit with the predominately male audience of a football game!

...ps...another word on orb's lackluster single...it seems his numbers on mediabase...

http://www.mediabase.com/mmrweb/insideradio/charts.asp?format=11&showtop

...which are what the monkeys worship...have GONE DOWN in the past few days...NOT UP! It's at positive 124 spins today...yesterday it was at 177 spins and the day before it was at 188 spins. Those monkeymembers must be positively "plotzing" right now!

No doubt a big part of the reason the monkeymods decided to lock up the message board was orb's very embarrassing impersonation of a "love sick high school nerd" who cannot stop talking about his new girlfriend! From the fake facebook poll for the cd cover...the proclamation in every interview of his "dedication" to her. The fact that the first single from this hastily thrown together and therefore "throw away" cd is struggling on the monkey's own last and only gauge of orbs "success"... the country charts...is surely a HUGE warning indicator that the orb is in decline. And surely that is also why they have "tucked tailed and ran" away from prying eyes...and hid themselves in their own little pathetic cocoon of blind orb worship! In this edition of "Insomniac Theater 3000...

...I wanted to go back to the topic of orb promo for his cd which drops in 3 days. When the rumor that orb's contract with capnash was over...and presumably, he would be "free" of any ties to labels...it turns out his contract WAS due to end, BUT that his "brain trust" had negotiated another, as the "brain trust" explained...a "non-traditional" contract...with an expressed..."no 360 elements"...which is the label no longer gets cuts of orb's touring, merchandising, etc...which I of course interpreted as "the label" WOULD NOT be supplying orb with much "PR back up." When the label gets "360" cuts of orbs extra curricular earnings, the label acts pretty much like another "manager" to the performer. So of course the label would be ACTIVE in getting orb "WORK"..."opportunities"...again, "promotional backup." But now that orb seems to be "on his own" in this NEW non traditional contract...it seems his PR looks pretty thin! So, as the article UM posted of orb PR next week, he ...

"will arrive in New York City on Tuesday, Nov. 16, just prior to his Today Show appearance on Wednesday, Nov. 17. He'll appear on CBS' The Early Show on Nov. 18 and will be in Chicago to tape his performance on The Oprah Winfrey Show that same day."

...and then...it seems NOT MUCH ELSE in national exposure. I checked out the schedule of next weeks talk shows, night and daytime shows...

http://www.interbridge.com/lineups.html

...you will see several music performers who have a cd dropping next tues the 16th...Nelly on ellen dengeneres and the tonight show on the 16th and the Jimmy kimmel show on the 17th. Rascal flatts on letterman on the 15th and the jimmy fallon show on the 17th. Kid rock will be on the Ellen show and the Conan o'brien show on the 17th. Rhianna will be on letterman on the 16th. Swifty herself will be on the Tonight show on Nov 22nd. BUT... if you check that entire schedule webpage...you WILL NOT find orb on any of those shows next week! It seems orb will only be in New york on the Today show and the Early show...and then in chicago to tape oprah's show, which wont be shown till late in the month! Orb no doubt thinks he will be able to "build" PR over the later month I guess...AND NOT strike when the opportunity is HOTTEST...that first week his cd comes out! So, basically, orb's PR is being played..."on the cheap" of course no doubt, because of nessessity! But then orb WAS always good at not striking when the going was best!

I agree. This is all too one-sided. You can tell as she is looking directly into the camera that she is completely acting. They also don't even hold hands in recent pictures by the paps. This "love, adoration and worshiping" is all going in one direction. How long can a person, especially an addict, go without getting it back before they finally snap? He says he's never felt a love like this before, but I'm not buying that at all - unless he is talking about vintage gifts. He's the one that adjusts his concert schedule to fit her needs, but does she do the same for him? No.

Again we are sick to death of them!! His PR is getting to be just as overkill as her's was and is!!!

"Here are 2 of the 3 bonus tracks on the deluxe version, "Big Promises" and "Luxury of Knowing."
You guys can judge for yourself. I'm gonna keep my mouth shut!"

Yes, Fading Fan, just as I expected when the cd's tracklisting was confirmed...the "standard" cd would only be 8 tracks...and the deluxe would simply have 3 "outtakes" included. These two of 3 "filler" songs...sound precisely like what they are..."outtakes!" They sound like first run demos. Very bland and not very remarkable 'ditties"...plus the "live" recorded versions I'd say most likely the fansies already have...it's certainly not something for buyers to get overy excited by the "deluxe"cd version.

Big Promises? Does that include the porn star and Amanda? Is that supposed to be a combination of rap and country??? Don't like it.

Luxury of Knowing - can handle it although he seems to sing out of his range at times. Remind me - was this the song that was speculated to be about Laura?

The way it's going if I were her I would cut my losses and run. To be attached to a lunatic right at this time with her movie coming out and the other things she is suppose to be doing I wouldn't want a raving has been sitting on my coat tails. But then again I still have a brain!!! I haven't fried it on prescription drugs and alcohol!! And no I'm not talking about KU at this moment!!

Yes...so I have to give the monkeys some credit...for knowing precisely WHEN to take their little fansie site "underground." Seems orb's single is once again beginning to sink in their oh so precious "mediabase" spins. orb's 'spins" today is again DOWN to only +64 spins...and spins means points...and points means MORE audience...etc. I get a feeling that the past two weeks flailing... and then momentary recovery is in it's last gasps for the single!

HA! This is fun-nay! So...to anyone wondering how the "private" and NEW monkeyland site layout may be working out for some of the monkeys? Well, since the monkey site is locked to all but paying and registered members...and I cant get my daily "giggle" fix at the "urbananalysis" thread of orb's single...I'd figured I'd simply google away at some OTHER commentors on these innertubes. Well, I found these...at a site where one of the "urbananalysts" writes for...they started a new thread simply for the orb, by request...

New Artist Forum for Keith Urban

Joseph commented...
"I've had some requests today to make a new forum for artists (more specifically, Keith Urban). So, here you go! Feel free to discuss anything and everything you want about Keith!?

...and here are a couple of the first few comments...

Urbangirl13 posts...
"This is great. I was hoping you would start a place here that we can post. Do you know if Jon Solo will be posting his Urbananlysis thread here? I really don't like the new Monkeyville format. A person shouldn't have to work to figure out how to post and I don't like that all the old threads are gone. Hopefully others besides me will find their way here. Maybe you could post a message there about this thread!!!"

sueanny replies...
"I am here! I hate what they did to us over there. I am so hopeful Jon will come here and help with BB (I can't stop calling you that sorry) in helping us survive this. Actually if they wanted to do something to help us and change the message board, they should have asked you all for help. This is so user friendly. Thank you so much guys!

sueanny posts again..
"Hi I am still here and if they will let me I will post them here. I have tried to post a few things tonight over there, I just keep getting a white screen. I am super angry at them right now. They are all thrilled with the new site, (mods and management) well does anyone care about what we the hard working long time fans want? I want my MV community back.
I will be here as long as they let me! I look forward to Jon and BB's input here and I know it is way easier and more friendly.
I can't thank them enough!"

...and a few more commenters are joining in! What EXACTLY did those monkeymods DO to the site! Were they so concerned with clamping down on "prying eyes" they idiotically rushed to place the new format...THAT DOES NOT LET LONG TIME MEMBERS POST!? Nice play, Shakespeares!!

"Maclen, I almost (I did say almost) feel sorry for them. I haven't been back over there since I checked when my membership expired and seen the picture swap. That seems to be a common theme lately (picture swap)!!! Well, like I said before, I would be curious to see numbers showing how many long-time fans will not be back."

Yeah, Fading Fan I know what you mean...last month during the whole "monkeyscalping' debacle for the "Benefit for orb"...I really DID begin to sympathize with the monkey-members who posted that they COULDNT get tickets! Made my indignation over what orb's "brain trust and monkeymods do to the members even more pointed! And yes, as of today, many more members are finding their way over to the Country Chart Talk forums. Ive been clearly pointing out for years now, the immense and complex hypothesis' that orb's "brain trust" just DOES NOT understand the "new media!" So, if any monkeymembers reading this comment...AND CAN'T post any longer over at the "new" monkeyland...you can post at this forum regarding orb's single's chart watch...

Keith Urban - "Put You In A Song"

...where many monkeys are now already commenting! One thing I have to give these monkeys CREDIT for... is their interest in orb's ACTUAL MUSIC...and not just his "frosted highlights" and "shirt open down to this navel!"

Best thing for Keith is a total re-invention of himself. Ditch any connection to her, return with a new look and some truly good rock songs. Get a ghostwriter if you need, Keith. I am sure Eric Clapton might help you out if you pay him enough. Stop mentioning Latex face as your inspiration every chance you get. Your fans don't want to know about her. Read up about her popularity first before singing her praises.

Who is it that said "timing is everything"? This seems simple to me. Capitol is out, NK is in. If she is (financially) backing Keith, then there are certain conditions. Doesn't that explain why he has been professing his undying love and devotion, and why he has dedicated this entire CD to her? And doesn't it also explain why she is on the cover and also the new poses of him hanging all over her?? If shes invested in a new label, shes getting her money's worth in PR with Keith making it all about her. And she needs positive PR now because Rabbit Hole is her best shot at getting her career back. So, his CD comes out in the middle of November, he promotes her in every interview about the new music. In December, Rabbit Hole comes out in limited release. What she needs the most is an audience. She has lost favor in Hollywood. Shes no longer the Queen of OZ. So it appears that this "Nashville sweethearts" game their playing is to win over the country fans. Keith gets his label, NK gets her second oscar and their right back on top!!! Will it work? Well, it hasn't so far...

I think while Kidman is out doing her PR for Rabbit Hole she should be more than a little concerned over the black hole her husband seems to be falling into.

LindaMarie said...

I was the one that said timing is everything.

Tara: Kidman is not concerned about the black hole that he will eventually be falling into once this CD's numbers come out. I am sure she wishes he would fall into it. She is not one bit concerned about him. This is business as usual for her and for him it is his association through him that he has become a household name.

All this lovey-dovey, mushy cushy, fluffernutte will come to end shortly. She is just interest in the fact that she got him to walk down the isle and he only wants what is in her bank account. There is no love here, it is all for show. I had friends who attended the CMA's. Keith left alone after the show. He got in his car and went to wherever alone. It is all crap. She watched them during the show, they didn't talk to each other, look at each other. Only when they KNEW the cameras were coming their way did they put on the act. Most of the time Keith was not sitting with her, Ansel was.

Timing my friends, timing.
