Ah yes...orb CLEARLY just LIMPED to his last TV performance before his "MUCH NEEDED" throat surgery! Despite his dying career not helped much from his hackneyed and slight "cracking yodel" singing style...his blandness... and the obvious milquetoast perceived personality and patently obvious pr gimmicks will not make a very happy crimble for the orb's holiday break. His obvious BAD ACTING scores him NO points with the masses he clearly could not rustle up on tour last summer...and no perceived "quality" album he may be able to scrape together...because of his dubious and faltering qualities...will be able to get him that much desired audience again!

HAPPY FESTIVUS everybody!

So, at last...the final tour numbers from Pollstar are in...let's see how the orb ACTUALLY did...

http://www.pollstarpro.com/charts/2011YearEndTop25NorthAmericanTours.pdf

2011
#25

2009
#16

2011
Total Gross: $27.3mil

2009
Total Gross: $42.7mil

2011
Avg tix price: $57.96

2009
Avg tix price: $63.27

2011
Avg tickets: 8,551

2009
Avg tickers: 11,255

2011
Total Tickets: 470,325

2009
Total Tickets: 675,278

2011
Avg gross: $495,678

2009
Avg gross: $712,078

2011
Cities/shows: 55/57

2009
Cities/shows: 60/67

...so, orb fell from the #16 top tour in 2009 to #25 in 2011...and of course, ALL other numbers fell as well. Orb grossed $15.4 million LESS this summer than in 2009...his avg ticket price fell $5.31...his avg tickets sold fell by 2704...his total tickets sold were 204,953 LESS this summer than in 2009...and his average gross was $216,400 LESS this summer than in 2009! Certainly, $27.3mil was LESS than what I was projecting as I followed orb's weekly average numbers...I projected maybe $30mil...so of course, naturally orb underachieved MY expectations! And surely, I also believe by the time orb can manage to get ANOTHER tour off the ground...no doubt in 2 years time...enthusiam for the orb will be EVEN lower...with less of an audience...for it is clear that orb's numbers continue to fall in ALL areas now.

For whatever it's worth I wish Keith & those he loves nothing but the very best in 2012 & beyond. The man isn't perfect. He's made mistakes & I'm sure isn't finished making them but I truly believe he is a better person today than he was when he started out in this "business". He has talent & will continue to have talent no matter what the $$$$ say. Who he chooses to spend his life with is his business, what she does with her career is her business, what they do together is their business. I am a fan of Keith Urban's music & as long as he puts out music & continues to entertain, as he did at the concerts I went to, I will continue to be a fan. He gave 150% & nobody left feeling cheated. All actors, musicians, entertainers careers go up & down. It's the nature of the business. Not to be critical but a young country female singer who is supposedly the entertainer of the year can't even keep a note when she sings live but her career is off the charts-so go figure. It is what it is & it will be what it will be. Even if Keith ends up playing casinos & local small events I'll be a fan because the talent he has only comes from one place. He can't fake it, he can't trick us into thinking he can sing when he can't like some performers. Keith has paid his dues more than enough, he moved halfway across the world to pursue his dream & I believe he's given us some wonderful music to enjoy. When you come down to it IT IS ABOUT THE MUSIC & nothing else. Keith Urban is a musician through & through. It's a part of him that he will never lose no matter what. Sure I like other country artists & other artists in general, but his concerts are the ones I've paid my hard earned money to see because I KNEW I would be entertained beyond belief, would get my money's worth & would have a GREAT time from start to finish AND I DID! Yes Keith will always have gossip surrounding his life & how he lives it but that's his concern & God's concern. In this time when there is so much negative everywhere I'm happy that his music can bring a little positive into this world. All I can say is keep making great music Keith no matter what the charts say or the account books say. Your talent is unique & you have touched people's lives with your music.

Well if he wanted to take himself down for what ever reason he did a very good job!! ((giggles))))

So I guess it will cost the Moosie girl a lot of money to try to hype him up to HW's expectations! ((giggles)))

I just love it when Moosie has to spend her money!! :)

OMG - has everyone seen the poster for the Paperboy yet?
look at Dlisted for today I almost didn't recognize Kidman

Joy- I still go see Keith and I enjoy his shows. But he also tries to sell the public this ideal marriage and family and love story
that has so many holes in it you can drive a truck through it.
I don't know how he lives with himself I always thought he had integrity and in his music for whatever it is he does. He is married to a diva with images issues and age issues. She got her chance because of minor talent and who she was married to- she hasn't been able to stay viable in her profession and her issues have dragged her current husband down This marriage will eventually end and I think that is when Keith Urban will shine.
But I am a dreamer!

Although I make NO pretense at all of highlighting the orb's declining and faltering "product" popularity to "help" his fans see the precarious and tenuous route his career is taking...and all indications point to ALL areas declining...it would nontheless serve as a cautionary barometer that SHOULD be of concern to his fans! Put more simply...if the "manufacturer" of one of your favorite products "goes out of business"...you are forced to switch to ANOTHER product. And as I just highlighted, orb's 2011 tour grossed less by OVER 60% of his last full tour in 2009. I expect his next tour to gross EVEN LESS. Although orb's previous cd, "Defying sales" was in fact "certified" Platinum by the RIAA...it was for "sales AND SHIPMENTS" of a million sales...but based on the actual numbers of sales at the time of the cert...it most likely ONLY actually sold about 900k. ORb's current cd is at 680k...and will be lucky to make 700k. And what with orb's shut out of even a nomination at the Grammys...his PAST remaining sure thing award...orb will be WITHOUT a major award win for this year. And the fact that I have been maintaining for at least the past 3 years that orb is in decline in all indicators...AND he IS declining in all areas...certainly tells me that he WILL continue to decline in the future. And that means that at some point it will not be worth it to orb to put out another cd or go out on tour. Because it will no doubt come to point at some point...where he will not make any money releasing a cd or going out on tour...and in fact will simply cost him money. And that will be the point when he does not release anther cd or goes on tour. He will then no doubt announce he is "taking a break"...perhaps due to "exhaustion"...or their standby of "taking time out to spend with the family" nonsense. But I guess the hardcore fans will no doubt be satisfied with catching orb at their local county fair doing his "greatest hits." I find that his hardcore fans ARE NOT very demanding when it comes to "imaginative, creative or original" music.

so apparently in this economic downturn while people are struggling to pay bills someone got himself a new Rolls royce-
why does the phrase eurotrash come to mind?

Hatti said...

Tara..there was a little blurp in the CW that said KU had his surgery in Nash!! Maybe HER Rolls is to detract from that. Not many people saw it. My friend told me about it I hadn't stumbled upon it myself.

Now she put out that whole big Boston thing that was alot of crap. It was in an article that Marx said he was with him but I don't believe Marx put that out himself. You know Moosie girl has a way with the media. ;)

Believe me that Rolls is in her driveway not his!! He has not provided any future red carpets for next year. So he don't get any presents. ((giggles)))

I could have swore I posted this yesterday...but I guess not. So I'll post it again...

I noticed this comment on their forum section on the orb over at Country Chart Talk...

http://countrycharttalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=209&start=900

...from an obvious orb fan. It seems to foretell of some MORE bad news for the orb. Heres the comment...

"I saw your post and had to comment, because there are going to be some changes coming to the chart but not because of Rascal Flatts. The following was from the Billboard Country Update on Monday:"

Quote:
Meanwhile, we are continuing to analyze test charts in preparation for the launch of Billboard’s first comprehensive country singles chart, driven by radio audience, paid digital downloads and streaming data...

I am not sure what I think of this at all. I know Jon and Zazie won't be happy...it sounds like the chart as we know it will change completely. Since the early 90's the chart has been monitored by the Nielsen SoundScan company and of course it is just an audience-based radio chart. But now it sounds like they want to incorporate digital sales and streaming data (YouTube, Vevo views, etc) and the country chart will become like the Hot 100--sales and airplay combined.

...now as I've LONG maintained...the orb's monkeys ONLY had singles on the Billboard Country song chart as their LAST and only bright spot regarding the orb's obviously dwindling career. The monkey's ignored his falling cd sales...and no doubt ignore the orb's recent gross decline of his just ended tour. But they hailed orb for his singles success on the BB song chart. But evidently, if this change to BB's country song chart is true, the orb will see no more love from that either! As I posted a few months ago...orb's singles sales, digital or otherwis, are as anemic as his cd sales...and as I've also noted, orb's Youtube channel is the LEAST viewed of the top tier country acts. With that country song chart being based on simple "airplay"...and with the obvious "pay to play"...the payola...the monkeys could still hope the orb would be able to play along with the "you scratch my back..." shenanigans! Well, just as the changes to the Grammys country categories last year most definitely resulted in orb NOT even getting a nomination this year...the changes to Billboard's Country song chart will NO DOUBT have the same result with orb's continued success with #1 songs. With these possible changes...orb's "HIT" songs will no longer just be a question of "opinion"... but will be more of a result of sales and social media. And since orb is very mediocre at both sales and social media...those once regular "#1 hits" will NO LONGER be such a bright spot for the orb's monkeys...and will no longer be a "promo" pitch for orb! And as Ive also maintained...that is why orb will no doubt focus on his standing in OZ...since his standing in the US will continue to fall even lower as he gets passed NOT just by the other acts...but by the ever changing and solidifying guages of real success...and that's product movement...and not some fansie's opinions!

The only way his music career can rebound, is by removing the albatross completely from it.
