Like a Grizzly... it's time for Nicole Kidman to hibernate...

If she were smart she would go away and be quiet and not draw attention to herself. The problem is… she is not smart. We have all noticed how utterly uneducated and flighty Kidman is in her interviews. Perhaps she is trying to make up for her lack of formal education, but she starts with those pithy descriptive phrases and instead of looking self educated she just looks silly.

She is not smart, at all. It is becoming more and more obvious that without the hand and handling of Tom Cruise and his people Kidman can't keep a career of her own. Tom and company must have really worked to find her good projects and to keep her in the news. Kidman on her own has had little success in finding good projects. Her selection kills are not helping her as an actress. To grow and show dimension, Kidman must have popular and critical features, and she has had neither. Dogville, Fur and Margot at the Wedding were unsuccessful. Kidman got mixed reviews. Her try at popular films, such as Invasion, Bewitched, and Stepford Wives… and now Australia, have all gone down the chute.

When Kidman was part of the Cruise team, she made Moulin Rouge!, To Die For, and was even part of the Batman genre. She was on a career climb. Kidman, during the Cruise years, got the first scripts for The Hours and The Others (and OMG! An Oscar!). Cruise knew what was good for Kidman. Kidman on her own leaves it up to whimsy and look where she is…box office poison.

It is time for Nicole Kidman to go away for awhile. As Tom Cruise mounts a comeback that looks like it is going to be successful, Kidman gets in the media, not for her work, but her personal life. Everything she has done in the last three years has been either a copy of or a challenge to what Cruise has done. Now I know that saying about a scorned woman, but this is too much.

Kidman should retreat for the next year and create an interest in herself as an actress. How will she do that? Perhaps she should call Tom; he might have a suggestion or two.

What will Kidman do? She will either take on the role of being Mrs. Keith Urban or devote her energies to her daughter and her marriage; or she will find another way to get attention for herself as an actress. I believe she will go on the stage either in New York or London. I can't see Kidman being just Keith's wife. That is so restrictive and for the biggest narcissist of all - self defeating. She is an artist after all. Will she go on the road with Keith? I would bet she will be seen. but people don't buy her as Keith's wife and she comes off as a snob and bitchy. As she is loathed in Nashville, think about how she will come off in Omaha. No, look to Tom Cruise and his family to pick up the leads for what Kidman will do next. I just bet Broadway is where she will head. Keith will be happy about that, as it’s only a few hours from anywhere in the country when he will be summoned for a photo op.

Certainly, Urban Myths, she does seem to need increasingly a "gimmick" nowadays to try to keep herself relevent.
The fact that she "revealed" her baby so blantantly in europe after Australia flopped in the US is just another instance of that fact. I for one, believe that she will be desperate to get out another product long before her next film, Nine, is scheduled to premiere next Dec. I look for a quick, indie... easy to stamp out film, in her long list of potential projects...certainly not a kidman "produced" potential product. But, certainly another film set will be in her future next year...and I dont expect her to take that time and devote more time for her "family"...despite the hints she may have given at the start of promo for Australia...once the film was released and it was a certified flop, she quickly reversed that impression and proclaimed she was NOT going to retire...of course after the onslaught of critisism this time around, the rational and wise choice would be to take time off and try and regroup...retool your old and rusting Pr machine...but I dont give kidman the benefit of that doubt...

She would do well to spend 6 months doing Broadway - if Broadway could take her for that long. Can NK even really work that hard? I mean really, curtain calls 6 days a week? She might actually learn some humility and by extension of that maybe, just maybe, the acting might actually start to emerge from her.

I know she did "stage" before, but that was a short-lived, in London, and only for the shock value of it. No, she needs a real part and one where she isn't allowed to be the diva.

Ha! Speaking of her " retirment" flip flops...I just saw this article...

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/film/starsandstories/3795312/Nicole-Kidman-Making-more-films-just-doesnt-interest-me.html

Nicole Kidman: 'Making more films just doesn't interest me'

"Kidman, too, has nothing planned now that she has finished a two-week stint filming a small role in the musical Nine, and she is not seeking any more work.

"I have to say I'm not that interested in making films any more," she said. "I know I'm not meant to say that, but that's where it is for me now.
"I'm 41 years old and very happy being in Tennessee with my baby and with my husband. I obviously have creative blood in me and it needs to come out in some way but I just don't have that burning desire any more.
"I'm not saying I'm never going to work again, but I'm at peace with whatever happens, which is a nice place to be at this stage of my life."

Seems I'm undecided if it's even a real interview...or perhaps it just the "superstitious" part of me to even allow an ounce of belief that she would actually consider retiring or not be interested in the "hollywood game" she has been a desperate and voracious player. On the one hand, it does have her usual wishy washy " I may, or I may not... "I'm content to just be just a wife and mum in tennessee"... while signing up to 2 or 3 more film projects. Again, its the only source ive seen so far...but of course, you have to wonder, and I know I do, if it's jsut another calculated plant from inept team kidman to attempt to "stroke the waters" and build some buzz-worthy news items that doesnt have the harsh critisism of her, the film's performance or this huge Aussie blowup over the didgeridoo...which again, I failed to mention is just another indication of kdiman's tone deafness to a potential PR embarrassment..especially after having made a film which claims to try and "honor" the people you have inadvertantly or more than likely, ignorantly, may have insulted. One point on this whole didgeradoo issue may be that it may very well be just a ridiculous and outdated tradition which is more than likely based in sexism...of course...but again, when the baz apparently has so one dimensionally and has so carelessly disregarded many of the "realities of the indiginous peoples of Australia, simply to make a garish, flamboyant and loud hollywood spectacle...you might think he might have learned about this tradition. But seeing as the baz didnt do too much research into that part of his film, I'm not that surprised.

She would do well I think to go away for a while, perhaps a long while. Maybe with a little break from all of this acting and so called glamorous stuff, she may regain some of what ever drew her to this occupation. Because for the last 5-6 years I have not been able to figure out why she is still here doing anything. Which to me just clraifies how the rest of the country feels. Apparently most are just not interested in what Nicole Kidman has to bring. I think the picture she has tried to paint is so far out of touch with reality, that most of what she wants us to believe is so out of the ball park that we just cannot in anyway comprehend such calculation by any one human being. It just has to be a bigger task for us to even think through. It is quite apprent that she sees only the picture she wants to protray. Too bad we see the very sad life of an aging actress. An aging hollywood actress who apparently has put everything into the way she looks. So much so that she has altered her orginal look to the extent she does not even resemble her former self. Which by the way was way better than what we see know. I think that just screams physcotherapy to me. Anyone that vain that would alter their looks so much they look nothing like their former self, has to need some sort of help. JMO

stillhopefull said...

On another sad note, she could have possibly lead the way with the transformation of an actress approaching middle age and embracing whatever that may bring for them, however they look. But, with all of the alterations she has done to her face along with the botox, it just screams "The only way to stay on top is with botox and any other enhancements that make people think you may be younger that what you are." As a middle aged women, this really makes my heart hurt....I really have a hard time with somebody, anybody thinking that they must alter their looks in order to suceed. Seems like a sad day to me that someone in thier 40's is still struggleing with thier looks and how they may look to someone else and what effect that has on their life. Which most people know is that it does not have a whole lot to do w/ anything. The most important thing is that everyone feel good about themselves and be proud of what God has provided in their life. Sad to say, that is why we have Nicole Kidman...she has not been altered with some life changing event that would send her to the road of change. The road she is on, is that of the same...I challange you Nicole, to be a better person than you have been. Stop the botox, stop what ever other man made challenges have been brought to you. Abide in God, do what is right and you will be praised and rewarded. Until then, I'm sorry to say that you will suffer.

I don't know but I think when Cruise left her it threw her into a big abyss of insecurity. I don't think she did too much to her looks when they were together but after the divorce she did alter herself quite a bit. I doubt her self esteem has little to do with her current husband as he has already cheated on her and that didn't affect her too much but she sure seems preoccupied with aging doesn't she?

Hello fellow Hoosierlady--Intersting article and as usual with her, strange. So they had some bad luck while filming Moulin Rouge, but Autralia? Sounds as though Baz is using this as an excuse to NEVER have to associate himself with her again.
I find it odd that there are so many blogs about this woman, 99% of which are all negative and are all about her odd behavior. I think she provides a lot of entertainment....not through her horrific acting, but through her strange public behavior, and as someone said earlier, her uneducated comments. If we see this odd behavior in public, can you even imagine what she is like in private?
From all the web sites, it appears this instrument she blew into is making big news. Now when she doesn't coneive another child, she will say it was all due to blowing into that instrument.
She is quite entertaining, in a train wreck sort of way. So sad.
Let's hope that KU has overoome his inital infatuation with her and is off finding his creative spark once again and comes out in 2009 with a great CD and we can all forget about her and enjoy him again! Does ANYONE really believe that she is going to stay on this farm in Nashville, raise goats, turkeys, a child, make cheese, and have a vegetable garden, that SHE tends too? Maybe a staff to do it all, but never her....you know she never can be in the sun, therefore, no gardening.

hoosierlady said...

But, Lightsourceyoga, all the Kidman women garden. And you know she grows massive zucchini.

I'm afraid we are going to have to wait for her to grow weary of him. This could take awhile. Especially with her career, how shall I say it, in transition? (Yes, we Hoosier women can turn a phrase), but it is gratifying to know that most blogs are negative. For awhile I thought I was the only one seeing what I saw, actually, it was Maclen that said, "welcome to the dark side", and I knew I was alright.

What I hope is that he can just ignore the circumstance, (maybe while she's on the road), and write from pleasant past experiences with whomever.

But, as I have mentioned before, it may be a Yoko thing, in which case, we all just better get used to the mediocre music and the half-hearted performances, because it's pretty obvious that his drive is on hiatus, perhaps it's because of no inspiration, but it could be because he's just simply a man that's (I'm so sorry, all you guys out there) whipped. You know how they are, and with the history of addiction. . . you know he fits the profile of one that's easy pickings for the slaughter of female manipulation.

Well, as I wrote here a couple of days ago, I've been commenting on blogs about the very real decline of kidman's career since 2006... and in that time she's made 6 films...and it's finally being acknowledged in the industry media seriously now. And here is jeffrey wells quoting kidman in that article where kidman talks of no longer having the desire to make films, which is the same article where the baz is quoted as saying he and kidman will no longer work together...

http://hollywood-elsewhere.com/2008/12/not_entirely_he.php

Not Entirely Her Idea

...and yeah, lightsource, choice, hoosierlady and stillhopefull... this talk for kidman and the bazz is certainly not "their" idea of how they were going to react to the films performance. The public has definately given them the clear message...which is "not interested." The bazz's words are hardly worth taking note... since at his pace of movie making, his next film wont be out for at least another 7 years...but kidman's quotes are pretty much not believeable for one moment. I certainly believe she couldnt do...and has no desire to do anything else. She needs the public attention...she craves it to much... and certainly she's probably made commitments that are binding to simply walk away just like that. I wouldnt believe it for one moment.

I was just going back in KU time to how things used to be and I wanted to come in and ask you girls....

Who here remembers that audio of Keith in his pissed girly voice when those guys decided to follow him home that one day?

I really miss those days.

Isnt there a place we can get the old stuff?

Unknown said...

oh Maclen, I remember it like it was yesterday. Right before the pic of the bike ride outing, the comment of her choice to retire.

What made her think this would help her retire on top?? Keith WAS on top at the time, but he's just running on fumes now!!

What on Earth are they planning to deliver to Nashville? The baby helped Keith 'earn' permanent roots to a city he's been dieing to conquer for NUMEROUS years, but Aus still saw him as a no good Kiwi sheep shagger instead of the auss bloke he WANTS everyone to see. Through it all, he's KIWI. He doesnt "shear" his sheep. Nope he wants them all to himself.

This is my take on why Baz will never work with Nicole again. Guys, don't forget to vote on whether Nicole should retire or not. Results will be sent to her Agent in Nashville:

Lisa, I think we've all been commenting since that overtly and planned bike ride that it was all just calculated PR attempts to keep her name in the press...the wedding...the vanity fair "revelations" cover piece... the pregnancy...to the last ditch efforts of exploiting her baby in the last days of Australia's promo...of which is also now being brought out by someone outside of Urban Myths...here...

http://www.ahlanlive.com/9138-is-nicole-finished

Is Nicole finished?

"Sunday rose as publicity stunt?
As she tries in vain to garner media attention for Australia, Nicole has been parading her daughter Sunday Rose on the publicity trail for the movie. Snappers in Paris were allowed unprecedented access to the once-sheltered tot, and industry-watchers are questioning her motives."

...you know news stories are bringing up the Facebook campaign... the nameless threads on Facebook, of seeing and not being fooled by the stunts of inept team kidman...but more and more I'm seeing things that could come right off of the Urban myths blogs and comment threads that are now being mentioned in more and more online news articles..and I of course am in the belief that my and our opinions of kidman for the past few years are now being debated more and more... and I for one believe at least the debate is definately going in our stated direction.

You know Maclen, I think the media rely on NK Journey, Forehead and Urban Myth Blogs to get a real sense of how the public feel about these so-called stars. I mean journalists have one point of view, but the public are the ones they are most interested in. If they can't fool us, they can't sell movie tickets, magazines or posters. Does anybody here still have a bedroom wall full of Kidman or Britney posters? I thought not.

PS. Dont forget to vote, so we can go ahead and organise the retirement home details for Gran:

And whereas I dont know if the facebook threads are as indepth as UM, forehead and NK's journey in analysis of kidman's inept PR failure to connect to a meaningful fanbase...since I am not signed on at Facebook...(perhaps someone who is on Facebook can give us a better idea of those threads beyond just the titles)... I think that could reveal if these staples of kidman analysis is actually coming from facebook...or our little gaggle of insightful blogs?

I haven't joined any Kidman bashing groups on Facebook. They are similar to other groups though where Facebook members can join, and then add comments. I must have a closer look to see if there is any reference to the Blogs.

BTW - I'm still a bit frazzled by the Baz statement today. I'm wondering why he felt he needed to do that because he is bringing more bad vibes to the Australia movie. I could be reading between the lines, but I wonder if all the bad press on Nic has made him finally open his eyes. Notice that's how the media have been trying to paint it? Cheers, Choice

Just how much more melodramatic can you get? They can't work together again because of the life changing events that happen when they do. Give me a break! Life happens no matter who you work with.

And Bazzy? How old is he? 10?

I read yesterday that her part in "Nine" is being labeled as small. No top billing for her I guess - better for the movie that way.

Imahick said...

I certainly got the feeling Bazzy was trying to distance himself from Kidman. Too late...

As far as the public perception...it's not just here on UM or on Forehead or Journey that you can read the less than favorable opinion about NK. Just read the comments after an article or on the gossip sites. People are on to her.

She'd be wise to go home to Tennessee and take care of her turkeys and zucchini and goats for a year or so, and let this settle down.

So, the SAG awards noms fell today...and I recalled reading this article a couple of days ago...

http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2008/12/17/2448806.htm?section=entertainment

Australia desperate for SAG nominations

"Like prize fighters beaten up and knocked down for 11 rounds, Nicole Kidman, Hugh Jackman, Baz Luhrmann and their epic Australia have one more round to impress Oscar voters."

...and, well, Australia was shut out of any SAG noms this morning...It has been, as I was saying before the movie even came out that Fox, the bazz and kidman and jackman were simply over doing the hype on so many levels, to an obviously unreasonable and outlandish level that the result was almost certainly on par with what we are now seeing in the media coverage of this film...and yes, again, I can only restate...they only have themselves to blame. Yes, the baz was trying to lower expectations... but it was juxaposed to all the proclamations that it was going to be "bigger than Titanic"...its going to be an "Australian Gone With the Wind"...its "The Wizard from Down Under"... who couldnt tell it would fall short on some level?

Well, actually choice, I signed up on facebook last night just to check out those kidman blogs...and I really think it has been basically overblown... I checked out the first 6 pages with about 10 blogs per...and out of about 60 blogs I only counted about 7 or 8 that were anti kidman...while the other 50+ were pro kidman gushing blogs. So these articles which started the "Facebook hates kidman" were simply some overzealous and overly sensitive kidman defenders trying to rally sympathy for her...for I certainly dont believe the notion of the original articles that all of Facebook are evil kidman haters...nor did I see any proof that Facebook users were as one article stated... "Hateful bullies."

Kidman, post-Australia, is "retiring."

I wonder how 20th Century-Fox, or better yet, the rest of the studios, are taking this news. Even if Kidman ever retracted her statements seriously, the studios might hold her to it. Her dance card will be completely empty.

Which begs the question if Kidman truly retires, whither goest Keith? He's going to have that prima donna on his hands 24/7 - and she'll be unemployed and frantic for attention.

Can Keith survive Kidman's retirement?

Hi HoosierLady ...
You're right, she does belong to us but the Aborigines have barricaded our airports now and won't let her in. They don't forgive easily over the didgeridoo incident.

You know, Christmas just won't be the same this year without bumping into Nicole and Keith at Bondi Beach. What about her new 1,000 acre estate that she bought outside of Sydney? Looks like that will be empty. Some poor family could have had their holidays there if she'd given more notice.

Hi Maclen ...
Good analysis of Facebook. I wonder when Facebook's bubble will burst? It overtook My Space apparently. Is there any "Keith, shut-up and sing" groups yet on there?

Back to yesterday's buzz, I still can't quite believe what Baz the Buz has done about disassociating himself from Nicole. Why he felt the need to even say anything at all (not that we really mind). Actually, when I saw him interviewed last month on local TV, he came across as an idiot. Nicole seems to be getting alot of the crap for the flop, he should take some too. For example, why doesn't he say:
"Fox are having a hard time marketing my film because it has no real genre. Audiences like to know what they are getting themselves into. Also, I should have insisted on a 'NO BOTOX' policy on set. I have signed Cate for my next film."

So simple!

Lurhmann rushes from 'Australia' to 'Gatsby'

"A lot of reviewers like 'Australia.' And we're making people cry; I know because they write to us," he said. "But there are those that don't get it. A lot of the film scientists don't get it. And it's not just that that they don't get it, but they hate it and they hate me, and they think I'm the black hole of cinema. They say, 'He shouldn't have made it, and he should die.'"

... yeah, seems the failure of his latest mishmash of aussie fairytale scribblings has sent him into a lashing out fit...he sounds exactly like the delluded and pathetic juvenile whiners and appologist NKUsers... "I know Australia is great because some people wrote me letters telling me it made them cry!" So now the baz is gonna redo The Great Gatsby...oh hurrah!... yeah, I'm sure this head basket case of juvenile neurosis and teen angst... this champion of personal persecution will surely bring back the golden age of the silver screen... but only, as it surely must be the case in his pathetic mind...the "cool" kids will only allow him to attain it...

Was there a conclusion to the blind item about the thrown statue?

I remember on the E channel once, I saw a story on NK. She goes through these terrible outbursts when things dont go her way. She must just be combusting by now?!

I havent seen Aus, but what do you guys think about this... it should have been centered around the young boy with the use of well known celebs? Maybe things would have turned out better. It's the only way a movie can make it if it's got Nk in it. Keep her low and on the outside, ya know?

realitycheck said...

Sorry everyone but I am not AWOL or Keith Urban. I think the fact that I have posted here while Keith was onstage during a concert is proof enough. I've had confirmation in the last few weeks, via my job, of what's going on here at Umyths. The company I work for has a message board for the general public. And on it there are posters who don't like the company's current policies and post their dislike on a daily basis. There are also posters on the same board that don't have problems with us and post to help other members with any online issues. The message boards are not my department but I was informed over lunch as to what is going on there. And it's the same intimidation tactics and the same B.S. happening here. Group A is accusing Group B of being representatives of our company when in fact they are not. They just don't agree with the Group A naysayers and don't have a problem saying so. So I've discovered what's happening here is more commonplace than I thought. Funny how when one group isn't left with an argument they resort to such childish behavior.

And let me nip this in the bud. No, I don't work for anyone or any company associated with Keith Urban or Nicole Kidman. The fact I have to say this outright is ridiculous. But I just know if I don't someone here will say, or at least insinuate, that I do.

BTW, I have not been without power. I see some of you have had fantasies of me eating peanut butter out of a jar by candlelight and pining over NK, but I don't live in one of the storm-hit areas, thank goodness. I do however have a friend in NH who is without power, as we speak, and has been for several days now.

I haven't been posting here because I consider my real, actual, everyday life to be more important than this blog. Sorry, but that's just the way it is. I can tell I haven't missed much anyway. If I post I post, if I don't I don't. The question is why do some of you care? You've told me I'm so wrong about everything and I should just go away. It seems you all are bothered I haven't been around...

Ah Reality Check. It's more that we kinda get used to having you around. Even though you stand up for Nic, and that is your right, we are all adults at the end of the day. Like you, I try to avoid personally attacking any posters on this Board. One thing though, I do notice people keep referring to you as female, but for some reason I get the feeling you are male. Any chance you could clear that up?

"I see some of you have had fantasies of me eating peanut butter out of a jar by candlelight"

It wasnt peanut butter...but ok.

And as far as your life being "too important" than this blog, that never stopped you before.

I dont care just wondered why you seemed to go AWOL when Keith did.

That's a good point, Lisa. Both AWOL at the same time.

I was just checking the Poll results, and it is now 63% who want Nicole to retire. Seems like the NK worshippers are agreeing now?

Do you think Baz has voted?

Well, as it seems as Urban Myths states in the blog, kidman has apparently gone into winter hybernation... and with Nine apparently wrapped, and kidman's role, according to a recent report is a small one...only two weeks of shooting worth...she is perhaps mulling that option choice. And surely as jackman is grateful that he has Wolverine in the horizon to look forward to, and as the baz has apparently already turned the page on his already gone cold corpse that is Australia...although he has made a point to make clear that the cadaver of a film he looks back on was simply not understood by the quote, "film scientists," he has deemed it nessesary to leak the info of his supposed next project already. Also making it a point to assure what little or whatever following he has left, that it will be ready for mass consumption in a relatively short, and for him that may mean 3 or 4 years.... period of time. So what is kidmans likely next move...take a break, a real break...as many may not be aware of, there was actually a period of a year and 4 months that a kidman film was not released into theaters. After the release and failure of Bewitched on june of 2005, her next movie wasnt released until oct of 2006, that being fur...but of course that exile from the movie screen was offset by the warmth of the film set bright lights as she then came back in 2007 with not just one...not two...but three films. Certainly I dont believe she will take a break, but one can keep their fingers crossed.

...ps...

...as I just proof read my last comment, and reading the words "winter hybernation"..I was reminded of her charitable "endeavers" the past 2 winters... in dec of last year and also in 2006, she "treated" the child patients of the Sydney Children's Hospital to a showing of her just released films...(and to a showing of that outing to the paparatz)... she also made a point of visiting the children at the sydney hospital on the eve of her wedding to the orb...posing with the children for the paparatz...So, is this years visit a no go because her film is already a flop to bother with these kids? She still has 11 days to keep this recent tradition alive! Which again begs me to question, as I did when kidman so cynically and so very disgustingly self servingly appeared at a UN press conference for a campain against violence towards woman..."penciled in after appearences on letterman and regis and kelly (lee)".... whilst shilling for Australia. And that question is, does this woman engage in any of her so called passionate charitable works only when she has a movie to plug? As was just announced a few weeks ago...

http://news.guide-bulgaria.com/SC/Plovdiv/Plovdiv-city/Plovdiv/News.aspx?5635=Nicole_Kidman_may_visit_Plovdiv_as_UN_ambassador_of_goodwill

Nicole Kidman may visit Plovdiv as UN ambassador of goodwill

...so as you may want to note the heading...she MAY visit...I guess it all depends on whether she can have a movie ready for the summer of 09, and she can just so easily make a pit stop in Bulgaria...after she shills on letterman and regis and kelly (lee) that is...

...so ends another of my late night rants!...

Hasn't she taken the show to Eastern Block countries before? I realize the natural lighting in the former Soviet Republic would favor her skin tone, but that isn't a reason to revisit the same region.

Weren't we promised 2 more movies? The one with Naomi and the one where Nicole is Dusty Springfield? Surely she will do these, I assumed these are Indie films, the ones she loves. It's December, I can't even start my garden seeds until March. She needs to get herself out there and keep doing what she does so I have fodder!

RC doesn't understand that we worry. She needs to just let us know she's OK every now and then.

I think most of us are just doing this for fun. I'm pretty sure we all have lives. These people get paid millions of dollars to stick themselves in the public eye. There has been public discussion of "celebrity", if you will, since the world began.

Since being named an honorary UN ambassador almost 3 years ago...she's only made a one day visit to Kosovo. Everything else since then has been hosting a benefit banquet for UN bigwigs with the "red carpet" rollout...telephone conference webcast appearences to the UN from LA from another movie set...having her name "attached" to that UN organized "End violence against Woman" online petition and recent appearence at the press conference I referenced in my last comment...all which are unashamedly included on her charitable resume!

I'd like to take a poll of UM commenters...serious now...(not really!)
... a show of hands... how many of you do not, repeat, DO NOT have lives they need to live other than commenting on this blog? It's hilarious...with a capital hil...As I can recall...very annoyingly and very ignoringly so... I seem to recall such a glut of comments in past blogs just prior to kidmans film Australia being released...from NKUsers, in defense of kidman latest film...go back and check out the comments on the blog of...

Thankful that Turkey is Finally Here! And Flying!

..the desperate rebuttals.. the pathetic "copying and pasting" of entire positive reviews of Australia in the comments...now going into the 3rd week and the certification and certainly the endless media thrashing of an genuine Thanksgiving Turkey that is Australia...these same NKUsers suddenly discover they have more important things, such as there lives...they need to get back to other than simply comment on such a pointless blog! Hilarious! Well I for one, who missed them not one iota...am at least impressed that the Urban Myths blog can help them realize what is truly important in their lives... and staying in the current spirit, it may be a actual online version of "A Christmas Tale"... and I certainly hope for them...they can really find that "It's a Wonderful Life!"

...and so staying in that spirit, I would like to wish everyone a very "Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!"

It must be so hard being Connor Kidman-Cruise. So glad I'm not adopted (well hope I'm not!):

http://nicole-kidman-journey.blogspot.com/2008/12/connor-were-all-too-busy-for-you.html

maclen said...

Well, I have seen a few stories knocking the fact that cruise didnt make it to premiere of Seven Pounds, which his kid connor has a small part...although I'm pretty sure connor himself wasnt at the premiere either. I of course havent read anything anywhere that kidman wasnt there...but then I expect that the media are just aware the she is not involved in connors or bella's life, that they havent even bothered to even get a quote from kidman about connor's first movie role. But also seeing that kidman for certain has dug a hole and crawled into, out of sight...there are still repercussions form the failure of Australia...I saw this story...

http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/celebs-left-all-at-sea-by-potty-interpretation-of-bylaws/2008/12/21/1229794246602.html

...The story tells of a current resident..."...one Pier 6/7 resident is being pursued by the strata committee for removing tiles on his balcony and installing pot plants in their place, a breach of the building's bylaws that could land him in the Consumer Traders and Tenancy Tribunal facing a fine of up to $5000." But it also seems kidman who was a former resident at Pier 6/7 apartment block at Walsh Bay...and as the article quotes...
"In spite of a ban on non-residents using the Pier 6/7 marina, the actor's $4.5 million boat, Hokulani, remains moored there almost 12 months after she moved out." Of course the fact that celebs get preferencial treatment is not my point...but the fact that this story is even out there is a sign of her "out of favor" status. I doubt this type of story would have come out of the previous reverent and sympathetic pundits only a few years ago.

Maclen -
Interesting story. Yet another asset of Kidman's that rarely gets used. A boat! Add the homestead and Darling Point home, and you wonder why she just doesn't give the money to charity rather than buy things that just sit around.

I notice the Aussie journalists are enjoying any opportunity to get stuck into her of late. Perhaps they are getting back at her for all the Diva antics she displays when in Sydney.
