I've been trying to find a bad concert review. Granted, I have a full life, and I haven't given this a lot of time, but I did look over my morning coffee, and. . .

I can't find one.

Imachick from the last post was dead on. They are manipulation masters. Do all musicians do this? Probably, but to this level? What I would like to know, because I am not a fan, is, was he like this before he married her, or is this learned behaviour?

I have a friend who has been to the last couple of shows and said he just keeps getting better and better

I agree that all the reviews of his recent shows are very good and that includes reviews from skeptics. I think that he's very focused and working hard to make this tour successful. NK needs to let him do that without distraction.

As far as media manipulation, I think the degree by which he is playing that game is much greater now. Keith was like other country artists prior to NK. He did interviews when he was promoting an album or tour, he did the occasional TV spot to push his music and otherwise, he wasn't in the press. He lived a life outside of the business and we didn't know what he was up to. When he did promote his music, it was direct and nothing appeared manipulated.

Since NK, that has changed and it seems like he is playing the game, just like the Hollywood stars do. I don't think we'd have heard him talking about AI for a month in all his interviews before the announcement that he's actually performing on it, in years gone by.

That's part of the change some have noted in Keith since he and NK have gotten together. It seems like the honest straight forward sincere Keith is replaced by the dude who plays the game.

Is Nicole with him? No mentions of her in the audience or seen backstage or on the bus.

So, you honestly think that the BN, (b4 NK) Keith was genuine, not just a "good 'ole country boy" act?

I have wondered if that wasn't the act, and this isn't the real Keith?

Again, I didn't know who this guy was until 2004, when I began my current career. The only reason I have ever heard his music is my son's girlfriend.

She is such a master at her PR craft, (even though she apparently slept through a few lessons regarding lady like behaviour), my assumption was they "found each other" as two manipulative peas in a pod, so to speak, after the same solid gold, diamond studded, no matters but us brass ring.

please! he's in the music "business." he marketed himself pre-nk, but he wasn't getting the same press. he manipulates the media and it's not a bad thing according to some of you. pictures of he and sunday surface the day before his tour kicks off and it's just happenstance according to some of you. if only the skeptics held keith to the same standards they hold nk.

I'm not saying that he didn't present an image to the fans. I think all artists do that. But I think there was less manipulation.

I think that he did the interviews / TV spots etc. to promote his music ... not his fame and celebrity status. Now, I think it's as much about celebrity and fame as it is about his music.

I have only known about KU for 2 years, so I don't know what he was like before NK, but I'm sure he's changed.

I was at both Mohegan Sun shows, and he put on two wonderful performances and gave his all, as usual. He is an outstanding performer, although I agree with all of you that he does repeat the same comments at each and every show! As for an entertainer, though, he is excellent!!! I've been to my share of concerts over the past 30 years, and his are very entertaining! From the second he gets on stage until he's finished, he gives 100%.

He did not mention the wife at either show, and luckily he did not dedicate any song to her. Although at the end of the show, there were credits running on the big screens, and a recording of "Thank You" was playing. I'm sure she made him do that!!

As for the "You'll Think of Me" videos, he just showed some clips of the homemade videos at the beginning of the song, and then went into his usual, amazing, heartfelt song. Whether he's feeling it or not at the end of the song, it still gets you every time.

I didn't know if the wife was there, but I found out afterwards that she was. I hated the fact that we were in the same building - although she was probably doing something else and not even realizing he was putting on a show!!

Hey frankie...Glad the shows were good. I've heard nothing but good reviews for all his shows so far.

How did you find out that NK was with him at Mohegan Sun? Was it a couple of fans who told you, or was there something official?

frankie said...

Imachick - I had read somewhere that she was at Mohegan Sun, but I can't remember where I saw it. So, actually she might not even have been there if no one really saw her!! Maybe she had someone write it, so people would think she was there and supporting her husband! If she was there, though, I'm sure she was sleeping during the show, or not paying any attention to the fact that he was performing!

Thanks! I appreciate your response. I am glad that he put on a good show, even if NK was there. Maybe he's over the obsession with her and is able to focus again.

That certainly is a very unobjective... and non subjective point...is kidman "on tour" with the orb as of yet... or not? And considering that it was a pre touring promo story that the orb was "refitting the tour bus" to accommidate his big ol' happy family...it is relevent whether she and baby are on it. And certainly, it is a fact that the industry pundits are vastly more interested in what kidman is up to as opposed to the orb...if kidman and co. were in fact "on tour" with the orb...you would read about it. But of course, I certainly expect a couple of token appearances by kidman to a few of his gigs...that has been her usual pattern...but I dont expect that kidman and co will be "on tour" with the orb.

So, an update on the orb's youtube mash up fan videos...

http://www.youtube.com/user/kuyoullthinkofme

...I see that it is still stalled at a paltry 38 videos submitted...one of the longest posted videos of 2 weeks having 907 views...virally speaking, not a very potent strain of online contagian. And kidman seems to be having rather a bland ride on the news cycle front...a so over last week rehash from her inept team slamming the press for her slamming of cruise...

http://www.entertainmentandshowbiz.com/nicole-kidman-kidmans-rep-slams-writer-for-fabricating-comments-2009051816058

...and she finally sold her darling point house at a 30% markdown of the original asking price...

http://www.theage.com.au/lifestyle/people/kidman-sells-house-at-discount-20090516-b6pg.html

...and as the buzz from the Nine movie trailer dissapates...and the word of her next film...the one with a total of 6 fracken producers...2 different financial backers no ones ever heard of...and a certain bleak future of trying to be hawked on the Canne indie movie market...I'd say this films best option is to collapse over a peddle lying in it's path...rather than risk not even making it to "straight to dvd" and floundering in some agents botton desk drawer...will kidman even bother to show up on the orb's tour path before she's back onto the movie set to continue her only life purpose?

getaholdofurself, it was not lost on a lot of skeptics that Keith trotted his daughter out the day before leaving on tour.

Maybe, just maybe he wanted some serious daddy-daughter time with her before leaving. Well, that's plausible, but not probable. That could have been accomplished at home.

Honestly, who brings a baby to "an office building," as it was described in the press blurbs. Not a Daddy & Me, not the pediatrician, but an office building.

Those who believe it a coincidence are kidding themselves.
