Just a note to Keith & Nicole...

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Urban,

Please quit using your daughter as a prop to take the attention off whatever is wrong in your private/public lives. We understand Keith, that the outcome of the CMA's were not what you expected and now you are on to the next part of the year, which is really a wind down of the tour and this CD. Nicole, we are hearing that if there is a weak part in Nine, it is your replacement performance for Catherine Zeta-Jones. And you have had some questionable incidents in public lately. However, is that really cause for both of you to take your little girl out in public as much as you did recently? No. She doesn’t appear to like the attention. Are the paps scaring her? Let her live her life in private, please. Both of you have said you want her privacy, yet you have no regard for it. You are fully capable of staying hidden when you choose to do so. She is not Suri. You don’t have to prove anything with her. Keith, if you are going to talk about her, could you at least get the script straight? She’s been to Oz already.

Now it’s being spouted that she was baptized on your little vacay to Italy. How convenient; just in time to promote Nine. Did you fly all the grandparents and nieces and nephews in for the ceremony? Usually Catholic baptisms are performed in the family’s church, with necessary preparations completed by the Godparents. How nice that your superstardom allows you the freedom to disregard “your” Church’s teachings and protocols.

Your daughter has done nothing to deserve being shilled for your careers.

Happy Holidays!

I just happened to catch the great Meryl Streep on The View today, promoting Mama Mia - (we get USA shows 6 months after the event) - and she made it clear that actors who choose to go into the industry choose to make their lives public, and thus open to public scrutiny and debate, HOWEVER, their children DON'T have the choice and she feels that actors' children should be kept away from the cameras until such time as THEY choose to go into a public life, if ever they do ... do we recall seeing ANY pictures of any of Meryl's children when they were young? ... in fact two of them are now in the entertainment industry and have we even then seen pictures of them? No, because Meryl has true dignity and doesn't titillate the press and the public; she doesn't need to because she has REAL talent and real class! (And still looks and sounds great without any artificial help, apart from good grooming).

Yeah, I would say that this latest PR juant has been the worst for kidman yet! And considering that Nine finally previewed to critics and pundits on the weekend of Novemver 13...and when kidman was papped attending a "business" meeting in NYC on monday morning on the 16th...it would explain her later late night drunken and stumbling appearance! The news for kidman was NOT at all good... for kidman! Which certainly would explain her very lame AMA "notice the baby bump" performance on the red carpet! And as I've highlighted in the past, despite kidman's "crocodile tears' over the paps getting a photo of her precious baby...she doesnt seem to be having any issues with posing with her baby now...when she has a movie to promote! Nor, apparently, does the orb have any issues with exploiting his daughter in his "promo shills"..."she sings...she dances...she can now sing and play Mozart's "Le nozze di Figaro" by heart ...at 16 months! Yes, the shilling has now reached ridiculous proportions...and of course, their "PR baby" is now a large part of it!

Of course Keith knows Sunday has been to Oz already. It's the LA Times blogger who got the facts wrong! Check out this video clip as to what Keith said EXACTLY. I can hear ".. this is the first time we have been able to take her to Australia for Christmas...")
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4nUe4UDocE

As usual, your fact-checking is woefully deficient.

Yes, what *exactly* was the purpose of schlepping Sunday into the Plaza Hotel? Past all those paps?

Surely she could have stayed in the Village apartment or a mid-town hotel with her nanny. But to see Keith parading her in front of paps so she can make an appearance at a biz luncheon does indeed reduce her to the level of a prop.

Yes...aint it peculiar how the orb seems to be papped with the baby more often "lately"...and is now so readily discussing his "private" moments at home with his daughter...after his cd sold a medicre 500-600k copies...and his "so called" dynamo... out of this world concert tour...or his massively self-centered Benefit for KEITH URBAN...didnt nab him "coveted" Entertainer at the CMA's...or how kidman, who claims she doesnt discuss her relationship with orb beyond that they are "together"...just before she then describes a plethora of descriptive adjectives...of her relationship with orb!...just as her career is now reduced to scrounging up independent funds for her "run and patch together" weepy indie personal flicks...and her small role in the supposed "awards' baiting musical seems to be "minor, acting wise and vocally disappointing!"

According to my calculations, as of today the LHJ has only sold 2% of the total merchandised in my territory, gee, maybe it's the picture on the cover?

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Happy Thanksgiving to all...

And let's go ahead and bring the CDAN post over here...

Nicole Kidman Not Pregnant!!!!!

Holy crap, who comes up with this stuff. Did I fall asleep on Sunday and just wake up now? US Weekly is reporting that Nicole Kidman's rep is saying Nicole is not pregnant. Did anyone here think she was? I have read and read and I haven't seen anyone say she was. This is all a set up job by the ass kissers at US Weekly because they probably want some exclusive pictures of the family during Thanksgiving or something.

According to US, the rumor started because Nicole had the audacity to take pictures on the red carpet holding her stomach with her hands. In what was a planned move for sure. Anyway that led to speculation she was pregnant which her rep denied today. OK, I don't remember anyone saying she was pregnant. Were you speculating she was pregnant? I think that is what she wanted people to say and then she would respond. The thing is I don't think anyone cares what Nicole does and they sure don't like to imagine her having sex despite what she may think. I am still not entirely convinced that Sunday Rose was not immaculately conceived or grown for nine months elsewhere and showed up one day in Nicole's arms.

So, if you have been on pins and needles all week about Nicole's pregnancy, she isn't and please get a life.

Yes, Urban Myths, that posting at crazy days sure does outline the rather lameness of inept team kidman's "pre manufactured" PR buzz...doesnt it? As I noted the pretty lame news coverage of kidman's "Am I expecting" poses at the AMA's...being basically overshadowed by kate hudson's "dress problems"...jlo falling while performing... adam lambert's contoversial performance...then suddenly, kidman releases a denial...now there are a rash of online news stories...on the denial! So, basically, kidman started the rumor...then her inept team send out the denials for a story that hardly got any traction, just to "goose the news!?? LAME!

...so, during a google search I found this article...

http://goldderby.latimes.com/awards_goldderby/2009/11/oscars-update-movies-entertainment-news.html

Oscars update: Mysterious 'Nine' and 'Lovely Bones' finally debut; Sandra Bullock ambushes derby fillies

"Mystery also surrounds the derby fate of "Nine" after it received mixed responses at early screenings. Audiences went wild for it at SAG nom com Q&As. But was that largely because they were blinded by the star wattage in attendance, including past Oscar champs Daniel Day-Lewis, Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Judi Dench and Marion Cotillard? Lou Lumenick of the New York Post witnessed so much negativity at a different industry screening he attended that he removed "Nine" entirely from his list of potential best-picture nominees at The Envelope's Buzzmeter.
Overall, it has received mostly enthusiastic reax. However, many industry pros are quick to add, "It's no 'Chicago.' " Translation: It will be nominated for best picture, but it won't win. "For a movie this well pedigreed not to get a nomination, something would have to have gone terribly wrong," insists Lane Brown of New York Magazine's Vulture blog.
Again, I reiterate that the Weinstein Co.'s best hope for a best-pic victory is "Inglourious Basterds," but no one believes me. Just wait till Golden Globe and DGA noms come out, you naysayers!"

Clearly, until reviewers can start to post reviews, these hints and peeks at reactions will be mixed. As for the film? With this years best picture Oscar noms upped to 10 fraken films...what film isnt gonna get a nom! Based on the clip of kidman "singing" her song in the film...I do expect mediocre reviews for her performance. Clearly, kidman's lack of any awards buzz shows she will not be getting any oscar love once again this year! As this other column mentions...

http://incontention.com/?p=17799

‘Nine’ gets big response from SAG

"Rob Marshall’s hotly anticipated movie musical adaptation “Nine” played before a jam-packed SAG Nominating Committee crowd at the Pacific Design Center Wednesday night, and judging by the response, we’ve got a real player on our hands.
Of course, one can never tell with these things. Especially SAG Nom Comm, which tends to be a bit, shall we say, star-drunk when it comes to these seasonal screenings. The evening’s Q&A boasted most of the cast — Daniel Day-Lewis, Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson, Judi Dench, Penelope Cruz and Marion Cotillard — so it was inevitable that standing ovations would occur.
"The biggest closing credit ovations, by my ear, in order of, I don’t know, loudness: Sophia Loren, Judi Dench, Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz and Nicole Kidman.

Clearly, kidman is the weakest link in the film!

timtam; yummy Ozzie Choccie biccies ... you must be a young Australian, and probably a member of the Urban-Kidman clan given your raw emotional sensitivity toward people making statements about Kidman that you don’t accept, (nor seem to be able to discuss or dispute rationally and objectively) ... or you are a rare ‘our Nic’ fan given I met not one in all my time in Oz! anyhow ... Let me respond to some of your “comments”:

“The skeptics are mind readers and psychics! All-seeing and all-knowing! Forget common sense.” I am not a ‘skeptic’ ‘mind reader’ nor lacking common sense. I AM ‘all-seeing’ and perhaps a little ‘psychic’ - i do use my hunches and gut feel which are just other descriptions for reading beyond the superficial and also body language. If I am wrong sometimes, I welcome DISCUSSION, being the whole point of this blog (read its name!)- however, I do not appreciate being randomly insulted as part of a generalised group; shoved into a basket by you.

“Why are you nailing him and Nicole to the wall for offences you create out of pure imagination?” Speaking for myself, which is all I can, I comment on comments and actions that are made and recorded in public by the very public Urbans and in particular, I point out the inconsistencies and galling incongruencies. I did not make a comment re the Ozzie trip, so please do NOT accuse me of things I do not do! I worked in advertising and wrote theses at Psychology College so am well aware of the need for accuracy when quoting + with referencing. As for opinion: every person is allowed theirs, whether wrong or right - as I have told you before; that’s democracy! And it’s open for sane + adult debate!

“Interesting since the skeptics think they see things more intelligently” - no crime in that - “and don't take anything at face value.” - uhh, that’s all we have!! - “You've forgotten that doesn't mean you can discredit everything a person does unless it makes them look bad.” Again, timtam, look at the title of the blog: Urban MYTHS - this is discussion about the myth being spun around the Urbans and discussing when it seems so, having had enough of being treated as having NO intelligence by the fickle PR machinery! If mistakes are made, correct them without becoming offensive to commenters: we are not the public figures that choose to put themselves up there for whatever they are going to get!

“Are you in a secret contest to see who can outdo each others rumours?” the simple answer, timtam, is NO. We each have our own views, sometimes they overlap and in my own case, I do NOT base my views on ‘rumours’ - I base them on words that come directly out of Nicole Kidman’s pumped up mouth and I point out the glaring inconsistencies; call them what you will.

“I don't think any of you really know how utterly ridiculous you sound.” Speak for yourself! “You believe everything negative from the same sites where you say it's a lie when it's positive. You've got nothing to support your argument but ill will towards a marriage.” Absolute generalised crap, timtam. You are making sweeping statements to a group of people without backing yourself up with specifics. Give me ONE example from my posts, please! My ill-will is toward an incongruent fictionalised glossed-up public figure creating a dangerous iconic role-model for young girls out there; who acts in violation of what she says her feminist mother trained her to be and acts contrary to what she herself says (that is on record!).

”My own words tell me there's no reason to post here any more. I've had enough.” Your call! “You're hopeless cases” - that’s an insult, tim tam!! - do you mean in terms of being swayed by you?? “I can read the other blog (?) where even if you don't agree with the opinion, the facts are there.” Well, kindly give me your facts - in terms of the things I have said that you don’t agree with. Thank-you!!

The more I think about it the more crazy do I think is the following statement by Nicole. Without quoting her exact words, she said that she had no (real) life before she met Keith (and I presume after Tom) and would lose herself in work, running from one film set to another ... she said she dreamt of a family life in the future and when she got together with Keith, he "gave her a life, gave her a home", which she now calls her 'real life' ... then she tells us that her mother taught her how to find her own place in the world without being defined by relationships with boys (men) ... her mom must be cringing! To see that her daughter is turning out to be everything she didn't want! In particular mom's aversion to Barbie!

A point I wish to make with regard to urban babies. She said in her recent ET or E interview (the one I quoted recently, I forget which) in response to the interviewer asking her if she wants more kids; she says "I'm open to anything" and has pretty much said elsewhere that she and Keith were 'trying' and are 'open to it' ... now, with being signed up for Danish Girl, there is no way she can get pregnant in the next year at least. If she is playing games with it all, I find it all rather distasteful and childish, quite honestly. It is this ditziness that really irritates me. Just very cheap PR.

so, as the celeb promo for Nine concludes it's week of personal appearances...for a film of course, originally scheduled to come out YESTERDAY...and the usual promo pick up from all the fawning and brownnosing infotainment shows... and of course the online media outlets...like this one...

http://www.hitfix.com/articles/2009-10-18-angelina-jolie-s-tourist-ready-to-travel

Nicole Kidman speaks on 'Nine,' 'The Danish Girl,' women in Hollywood

...so, as kidman comes off her recent role in a film where she is one female role of 7 women...all SUBSERVIENT to the ONEmale lead role in the entire flick...she laments the lack of complex roles for women...

"“The way [Guido’s] describing it -- to be specific in that scene -- obviously that [man’s] role sounds far more riveting than all of the other things things he’s presenting to me. In Hollywood,” Kidman says at a press event in New York, ”roles are better for men.”

(...yes they are...but as kidman herself is quoted as saying...this is the role she just couldnt pass on...in fact, it was a role she supposedly "came out of retirement to do! Now she is complaining, after her recent "hollywood hurts women...but I dont" testimony that d-day has the better role? And also, ironically, says this in this article...

"The 42-year-old actress mentioned there are exceptions to the rules in Hollywood, or even a rewriting of the rules: she cited Angelina Jolie’s role in the 2008 action film “Wanted,” which was a part originally penned for a man. “I wish they’d do that more often,” Kidman says."

...well, they jsut did do it again...and again with jolie...and also in another ironic twist in a film tom cruise was considering doing!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7555679.stm

Jolie 'to take Cruise movie role'

..so the "crocodile teary" kidman takes a role she "cant pass up"...one female role in a glut of seven other females to the one male lead in Nine, and now whines "she wants the "male lead?" Well, the truth of the matter is...jolie is about the only female any studio will rewrite an "originally male" lead script for a action spy thriller! The only way kidman with her dead and buried career is gonna play a "male" meant for role is to do it herself...and of course, that is precisely what she it attempting to do, because the reality is, no studio is gonna give her one!

maclen said...

...ps...

...also notice that kidman and orb recently attended a "Cancer fundraiser" on Nov 20

http://med.stanford.edu/ism/2009/november/kidman.html

Kidman, Urban help raise funds for women's cancer program at Stanford

...again a very worthy cause...but again... I cant help but be disgusted that kidman would choose to be so "charitable" at the moment she is shilling another film! So lets review...kidman agrees to tesify at a congressional hearing in late OCTOBER...the 22nd to be exact...as the PR blitz begins for the originally late NOVEMBER debut of Nine...even has a trip to kenya sceduled in early NOVEMBER...the first week in the month her new film WAS to have come out....(but didnt end up going because her previously mentioned testimony was a such a washout and embarrassment!)...now she just did a Cancer fundraiser in mid NOVEMBER... the same week her film WAS to have come out! Anyone else notice the pattern? Well, there is still about 4 days left in NOVEMBER...the month her film WAS to have come out...is there any other charitable event pre-planned to shill this forsaken film? Now, are any more now planned for DECEMBER...now that it is set to debut on the 18th of DECEMBER and going wide on christmas? I wouldn't be surprised all if there were!

maclen said...

...pps...

...almost forgot to mention that Pre-taped CNN Heroes awards...the awards show to honor "real life" heroes! Just noticed it was playing now on CNN...the day after...kidman's movie WAS to have opened on Nov. 25th! All the PR scheduling for a film...magazines spreads...talk shows...interviews...and apparently for kidman...that also includes "charitable deeds" for the sake of her trashed career! I take comfort in knowing that all of kidman's exploitation of the unfortunate or mistreated... for the sake of her career is all in vain!

abc said...

This is certainly a good cause though I am doubtful about whether the attention of Nicole’s presence and Keith’s being the entertainer for the luncheon will attract the kind of attention that results in funds in the coffers ... the article says that “The event is expected to raise $250,000” ... I would be really interested in following up to see how much was raised and if that would in fact be higher than the cost of the luncheon itself.
“Kidman spoke passionately on the issue of women’s health” ... (which as she has said is ‘not for herself but for her child’) ...
“Kidman ... serves as the Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations Development Fund for Women, which has the goals of ... promoting gender equality” ... (yet goes on to elevate the importance of woman above man, clearly trying to position herself as THE most important person, in her usual self-absorbed way) ...
“I think that was the pivotal point in my life because I was about to lose — or thought I would lose — THE MOST IMPORTANT PERSON IN MY FAMILY, THE HEARTBEAT of my family,” Kidman (said).
Wonder what her father feels about that? I think it is an insult to men unless they have no balls.

abc said...

I think her comment that only men have good roles in Hollywood is insanely ridiculous!! There may not be as many good roles for women as for men but that is a different thought entirely. And the women that are quietly doing great work are not hogging the spotlight as she does, desperate to get attention for everything she does, thinks, wishes wadawadawada ...

perhaps, Nicole, men are "the most important persons and the 'heartbeat' of Hollywood"? just teasing!

maclen said...

Well, abc it is very apparent and obvious that kidman is now trying to lower expectations for her small role in the film... as I speculated going back to the "business meeting" photos resulting in the late night "sloshed and stumbling" photos, which were no doubt caused by the news of her negative...or at least "disappointing" reaction to her performance from the screening to critics! so, beside all the usual pandering promo of having pizza on set...with strawberrys...or that she "secretly" had her baby baptized in Italy...there is also now..."she CANT sing, She CANTdance...she's whining that d-day's role is the role she now would want...even though she started off the promo for the film claiming that her's was "too great a role to pass up"...Now she is apparently whining about how all her "dancing" scenes were cut from the film:

http://www.showbizspy.com/article/195464/nicole-kidman-my-dance-scenes-were-cut-from-nine.html

Nicole Kidman: ‘My Dance Scenes Were Cut From Nine’

Its very clear, kidman now regrets agreeing to such a small role in the film. Now that the talk is Weinco is gonna push Cotillard for best actress...

http://hollywood-elsewhere.com/2009/11/cotillards_peak.php

Cotillard's Peak

"The Weinstein Co. is pushing Marion Cotillard's Nine performance in the Best Actress category. She has the meatiest, hurting-est role among the Nine women -- i.e., the betrayed wife of Daniel Day Lewis's Guido."

...and in every Oscar buzz site...pen cruz is speculated to nab a supporting nod...or even sophia loren! I get the feeling she agreed to a 'small role hoping she could maybe sneak a little positive buzz... or even steal the film...ala tom cruise in "Tropical Thunder. But that didnt seem to happen in this film...so now she is just floundering...

Anonymous said...

Kidman better get use to the small, bit parts. At least here in the US. Her leading roles ended with the Invasion in 07'. Since then it seems Hollywood has stopped taking her calls. It doesn't appear that shes getting any film offers (or we would surely know!) She has no choice but to milk Nine for all its worth. Thats all shes got.

...cletus got to dress himself! Blue jeans, brown plaid shirt and leather jacket...tan suede workman boots?!... orb got to get his "teen rebel" freak on! Now...juxaposed to last years Aria's when he attended with "mommy"...

http://www.thefashionpolice.net/2007/10/nicole-kidman-p.html

... frilly white shirt...black dress pants...the tuxedo "monkey" coat...shiney gloss black boots...no doubt "spit shined" polished till kidman could see her reflection in them! Clearly, being with kidman... he had to "classy up" his look...while kidman flashed her boney lily white bared ass to all the masses in attendance! So, back to this years awards...I must retract a previous statement I made...that kidman was just "bad luck" for orb at award shows...cletus has now convinced me that he can lose out on awards all on his own!

Yes, mikki, it's no surprise to me that her next film will be a "self financed" patched together indie...as is her attempted next film. Although clearly kidman is trying to claim that it is her "choice" to only do films that she's "passionate about! Yeah, she'll turn down that $17mil film payday to do these $10mil indies! The fact is, she wont be offered any more $17mil payday roles...or have the opportunity to be in a $250mil golden compass or $130mil Australia. Her days of "highest paid actress in hollywood" are over...being as last year she was then rated the "Most overpaid actor in all hollywood!" Even bff murdoch wont finance...or even distribute her films since Australia!

HA! yes Urban Myths...I'm sensing the whiff of another arranged photo op from inept team kidman! The "Seasonal X-mas version!" Only notice not only is kidman even "smiling for the pap"...the cletus is all into it with the smile... and a wave! Recall when it was noticed that the orb used to appear embarrassed and uncomfortable in these obvious kidman photo ops? So, in this edition of "Late Night Musings"...just a few observances...

first up...the orb...I just noticed it in his photos at this years Arias...and again here...the companian piece to Urban Myths posting of kidman and orb "shopping" at Home Depot...

http://www.sassyqarla.com/2009/11/keith-urban-touches-down-in-lax.html

Keith Urban Touches Down in LAX!

...now, of course it was no doubt a regular feature during the orb's live gigs...but is that "lounge lizard...greazy club hopping open shirt look to the naval" at anytime actually "appealing" to you female fansies? Yeah I realize the reason is the orb's new chest tattoo...of what was it...an amoeba...a black sea urchin? It's apparently a gift from his "baby girl" for his baby...girl? Again, does any woman in the 21st century believe this rather gouche look from the '70's disco era in anyway appealing? I mean, all that's missing is the bling...a couple of gold chains...a medallion...a huge gold clock?

...second is this article I just saw...pertaining to kidman and all the strawberry pizza she ate in Italy...

http://showbizandstyle.inquirer.net/entertainment/entertainment/view/20091127-238857/I-envy-myselfSophia-Loren

‘I envy myself’–Sophia Loren

"The actresses said you were maternal to them, asking them to eat all the time.

"They never ate (laughter). Never. I was the only one who was eating."

...and coming from Loren...from the bygone lalaland era when woman were "healthy' and "substantial" as compared to todays "walking clothes hanger"...that says it all!

I believe they will take a commercial flight so that Nicole will can promote her film, no, be an ambassador while she is dancing to Keith's music as Sunday helps decorate the room of an abused Kenyan battered, cancer ridden woman's hut, while organizing a small indie film about the plight of sex changing pandas in India, all done on or before the December 15th date, of course for no particular reason, other than the goodness of their hearts, because they are on a journey, an incredibly hard, raw, tough, exposed, journey. OOPS, I forgot, they will also have Sunday re-baptised in the waterfall in Kenya while they are over there and have authentic African pizza, not to worry, the man with the camera is just a cousin that happens to work for JJ.

Hope that clears up any confusion.

maclen said...

Well, hoosier...I believe about half of those speculative events have an even chance of occuring!
So to continue on my Nine promo theme...this morning the notion of how do the other actors in the film fare with their songs...so I found this video of kate hudson's entire song...just the song, not the scene from the film...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMIt8dhh4pg

...well, let's just put it, hudson is NOT a pro singer either...but the song is not exactly an "undifficult song to sing...she sounds alot like kidman, but with a crisper and far more confident voice. Then I wondered about the other songs from the film and so I went to the channel the hudson song was posted by...one "Cinematically"...the youtube channel is here...

http://www.youtube.com/user/Cinematically

...now look at the couple of videos from the film yet posted... they have fergie's "Be Italian"...cotillard's "Take It All"...hudson's "Cinema Italiano"...and the song..."Unusual Way"...by...Griffith Frank?? Doesnt kidman sing that song in the film? Then Cinematically has 3 favorites... "Take It All w/ Marion Cotillard & Daniel Day-Lewis"...the short clip, "A Call from the Vatican Penelope Cruz"...and "My Husband makes movies - Marion Cotillard" And again, just one perusal of kidman's performance of Unusual Way in that short clip on Oprah posted on youtube clearly shows...kidman's singing does not seem to make the grade.

Well I thought surely, at the Nine offical website, they'd have clips of the musical performances..but the official website is pretty pathetic...a simple cast picture with fergie singing "Be Italian" and a link to the trailer...no film clips...no song clips? Yes, if they had the goods they would be flaunting them...this seems like they are holding it under wraps till the film limps to it inevitable fate!

7. THE INVASION

* Release date: August 17, 2007

* Estimated cost: $80 million

* Domestic gross: $15.1 million

Nicole Kidman couldn't have started the decade any hotter, scoring with "Moulin Rouge," "The Others" and "The Hours." But after 2002, her career went cold in the U.S. ("Stepford Wives," "Bewitched," "Australia" and "The Golden Compass"); it's as if the actress was abducted by some sort of soul-draining body snatcher. But wait, isn't that what she's fighting in "The Invasion," Hollywood's latest remake of the 1956 film "Invasion of the Body Snatchers"? This time around, the eerie premise, based on a novel by Jack Finney, failed to catch fire. The Wachowski brothers' second unit director, James McTeigue, was called in to shoot additional scenes written by the "Matrix" whiz kids after original director Oliver Hirschbiegel was sent packing, having filmed the bulk of the movie. In an omen of things to come, Kidman suffered an on-set fender-bender during the reshoots. When the film arrived in theaters more than a year late, Kidman's regal bearing took another dent.
