Oh Keith, quit it, just stop...

During every show and every interview, Keith Kidman tells the tale of how Nicole Kidman saved him. Saved him from what, and why? It makes me cringe, and sends chills up and down my spine that this man who has really been through his own hell, and has gotten through it, then says it's because of her that he is where he is. Does the man not realize it’s because of his own desire, his own willingness to make changes, that he is where he is? She wasn't next to him at Betty Ford was she? I believe there were only three documented visits. Keith was even amazed she showed up at all. Huh? She is your wife and whether the marriage is real or not, why wouldn't she be there every chance she could? I am pissed she wasn't there more often, but not really surprised she wasn't. She did take the press so we could see her educating Keith about the ducks. She seems to have checked out of this marriage shortly after the honeymoon. Instead of being an active part in the relationship she is a reactor.

"Oh poor me! He is a drunk and a druggie and he isn't the man I bought." No, Nicole, he is a very human being who actually did have a real life. It wasn't all rainbows and butterflies; it was about being afraid and lonely and working hard to get somewhere, and looking for someone to meet his needs, and getting to the top of his field and being a success on his own. I haven't a clue as to what those demons are that bring Keith Urban down from time to time but they are there. He and his doctors are probably the only ones that know, but whatever it was that happened at the Betty Ford Center was his work, his journey. He was the one who stayed and stayed.

I think he is putting himself down when he says “I wouldn't be here without her”. Keith, you are here because of YOU, not because of her. That kind of faith is not sustainable. Considering who you are, saying this about it makes me wonder why…

I think another good point about this marriage is why would kidman willingly and knowingly become involved with a addict/alcoholic? After having made it overwhelmingly clear that the split with cruise had such a "traumatic and soul changing" effect on her,why would she get involved with urban. Now I know apologist may say, well, you cant decide who you fall in love with... but i just say thats sentimental mush, if your a lucid , clear thinking adult, you wouldnt get involved with someone else's issues... unless you wanted them to become your issues. As I'll often use Dr Drew pinski ideas of relationships, that usually seems the case. I agree with Urban Myths post, Kidman loves to be the "wronged one', "the put upon one" who heroicly overcomes the adversary and somehow comes out looking noble. and it looks like urban will have to be constantly apologizing to her, for having the very issues she will now use to help her image.

I agree maclen. I keep asking myself the question-
Why would someone get this involved with a person who has addiction issues that are so close to the surface? But then I remember that she is not normal.
If you spend ANY time learning about addiction, you learn not to take on the addicts problems. The addict has to fix them for all of this to work. But then again maybe she doesn't want the recovery to work.
Keith is learning how to fix his problems...HE is doing all the work for his recovery as he should be.
Instead of Keith thanking her...seems like she should be apologizing to us.

Nk receved public sympathy when she divorced TC, so this is what she is going to get when this marriage is over.

NK will still be in the tabloids and KU will appear to be sad;y the one who stole her happiness.

I agree with you honest about the sympathy. She never received such acclaim until cruise dumped her, then she was proclaimed "the actress of her generation"... and she never stopped milking the split, even as late as last year, when she was obviously engaged to urban, she still had to proclaim her everlasting love for cruise, and yada yada yada. But I think she's made a mistake with urban, because, as she probably cant realize, the roles are reversed. When this marriage crumbles, and it will, maybe not next week, or next month, ultimatly i believe it will fail for all the reasons ive expained, and poor urban will probably end up back in rehab, career in shambles and she will be off to her next movie set, making another insignificant movie, and believe me, her time in the spotlight will be long over.
And you make a good point banbotox, urban has to do it for himself, and this marriage to kidman looks like a bad move. On the one hand, he says his addictions have nothing to do with her, yet he's giving, as Urban Myths says in this blog, kidman all the credit for his successes. But of course, we'll just have to wait and see if that is correct.

A lot of musicians say they couldn't have done it without their spouse, why can't Keith?

Sadly, I think his self confidence and self esteem are so low that he BELIEVES she saved him...that without her, he couldn't be filling arenas and having career success. And NK is more than happy to have him worhsip her and pay tribute to her like this. When this whole thing implodes (as I believe it will) she will come come out of it smelling like a rose. Keith will feel like he can't survive on his own and at that point, I would be concerned about relapse. I hope I'm wrong.

As far as NK getting into a relationship with an alcoholic with a history of cocaine addiction...I agree it was a bad choice. As a mother, I would never allow myself to get into such a relationship. However, that has never been NK's priority. I am surprised ... given how all important her career is ... that she did it. I think she must have weighed the risk benefit of it, and realized that she could use that history to get the sympathy support again. She is the ultimate victim.

I think it's funny that Richie Sambora is currently in rehab and we have yet to see a Photo of him strolling the grounds - yet Little Miss Private Kidman made sure to have herself photographed with Keith while he was at Betty Ford.

She's a cretin.
