Kidman is Buying the Press...

So, Perez Hilton got an inside tip from Camp Kidman that the fetus has a penis. We heard that it was a girl and in the long run it doesn't matter, as long as it is healthy. But what is disturbing is that Hilton, who has been a long time Kidman thorn seems to have been purchased. Are we naive to think that Mario was on some kind of pedestal that he was untouchable?

No, the man is self made and has cut deals before and we all know that his reputation is dwindling in gossip circles. What is so incredible is how blatant the blurb was. No snarky comment, no nothing. Well, well, well. Just like a certain photo web site, Hilton will learn that once it is known the pockets are filled with Kidman’s green you become untrustworthy and suspect.

When you read a gossip column or go to a site what are you looking for? I look for something that sounds unusual. I look for something that strikes me as familiar so that I can relate to the subject at hand. That seems like it’s a conflicting search. It is not, it’s building on the information we already have.

Speaking of information, Keith released You Look Good in My Shirt as his latest single. They said it is tied into the release of the Live DVD, but since that isn't due out until September or October, it’s doubtful that is true. What is true, however, is that Keith needs something fresh and new on the radio. The song is six years old, but unless you are a long time Keith fan, the rerecorded version will sound new on the radio. It’s a fun song too; it’s a bit sad for all of us long time Keith fans remembering how sexy he used to be, but until he wakes up and faces reality we are stuck. Stuck with a nice summer song that will bomb like nobody's business.

I was traveling around various country music sites and I was amazed at how many shots are never seen by the public. On one site I found a number of pictures of Keith and Kidman with various bigwigs. From the CMA’s there was the picture of Kidman and Keith with the head of the MTV networks. At every awards show there always seems to be a shot of Kidman talking to the President of Capitol Nashville. Wonder what that conversation was about?

Considering it was Kidman, it wasn't very deep. Keith however seems very much into impressing these people either by flaunting the movie star wife or by looking like he is humbled by these encounters. Note to Keith: the ass is on the other end and you need to kiss that to salvage respect in the industry. But business is business, be it showing off for the bosses or the buying off a gossip maven.

If Keith is loaning Clarence to a museum he's done with music. The muse is gone and not expected to return. (Maybe it's also for safe keeping so Nic doesn't throw it during one of her tantrums and destroy it.) The bike he's loaning is the newest purchase he wrecked out on the ACM charity bike ride after being hounded with questions about him and Nic. Interesting he's getting items he loves so much out of the house before the baby comes.

I dont read Perez so i wont comment on that part of the blog. But an American friend provided me with a link to hear the new version of YLGIMS at it sounds fantastic. As a fan i cant complain although i will if its not available to download here in Australia!

Yeah, I'd say no one is immune when they crave attention in lalaland...even when they start out trying to knock down the platitudes that the top rung wrap themselves in once they've made it. But once even that first taste of infamy is in question, they all scurry to wheel and deal themselves back into the game. There's only one way to climb the levels of successful celebritydom, and that's to play ball when the ball is offered, and not by biting the hand that will feed you when the nessessity continually pops up. And I do believe for sure that kidman has exhausted all her usual hands at remaining relevant...magazine cover pieces with the so called "sensational" revelations...the superficial talk show circuit... the movie festival, the movie premieres and awards show appearances...all have failed to give her a hit, which it all boils down to in the end. So we see a conserted effort to saturate the "new" media, and leaks and plants to internet gossip sites. I wouldnt be surprised if next kidman is doing interviews for internet movie sites, which is what drives the buzz for mainly comics and sci fi movies right now... but really, she has no where else where she hasnt failed already.

ok what's the story with the bike. Was anyone hurt? Did he wreck himself peeling off in a fury since it had something to do with being asked questions about Nic??

Well UMyths the problem with your research methods, if you want to call them that, is that they so short-sighted. What you are missing is the bigger picture...how Perez treats celebs in general and how he's treated Nicole outside of this latest blog entry.

Perez has three categories of celebs on his blog. The first is the ones that can do no wrong in his eyes. They run the gamut from Dita von Teese to Gloria Estefan to, for the most part, Angelina Jolie. Then theres the celebs he hates. These will include people like Victoria Beckham, Avril Lavigne, Mischa Barton, Kirsten Dunst, and for the most part Jennifer Aniston. It takes alot to get Perez to give Aniston even a morsel of a compliment. The only way to ensure landing in this category is you do or say something anti-gay or anti-Hispanic.

Then theres the rest of Hollywood...the celebs that, depending on which way the wind blows that day, get a thumbs up or thumbs down from Perez. Nicole Kidman falls into that category. Some would say that Perez is a little schizo when it comes to he praises and who he disses. But to be fair Perez takes the criticism. He himself has said that he gives it out but he's willing to take it. And the fact that he allows the public to comment on his blog, unlike other sites...*cough* laineygossip *cough* is commendable. As commendable as you can be in the gossip biz anyway.

Lets take a look at the blog entries for NK over the past month starting with the most recent.

"Its A"...05/28 blog about what the sex of the baby is. No slam on the actress.

"Due In 6 Weeks" 5/23 This is a negative. Compares her pregnancy to Nicole Ritchie's who is at least a full 6 inches shorter, which makes the whole thing a bit silly. Is it a slow gossip day?

"Mommy Glow"...5/18 Positive...likes her look because he thinks she's currently botox free

"On Cloud Nine"...5/15 no slam or positive...just a mention

"Hello Botox"...5/13 negative blog, says Nicole and Christian Slater resemble each other.

"Lonely Mothers Day"...5/11 negative...perpetuating rumor Nicole's kids hate her and taking NK's quote out of context. Has brought this up on more than one blog entry.

"How Do We Say This"...5/7 negative, really about Charlize but slams Nicole in the process.

"Bye Bye Nicole"...5/6 story about Nicole being replaced for Chanel ad...does not use the word "dumped" like so many other sites, does not slam her for her work with them.

"Mushy Sucks"...5/5 mention re Jamie Fawcett trial but no slam

"Nicole's Gone Bi"...5/01 an obvious reference to the bi rumors, Perez says he wants to see film even though Nicole in it.

"Who is this"...04/28 Nicole looks better to Perez, referring to alleged Botox use, she needs to "keep it up" and praises her creating awareness for Unifem. Writes the words "so pretty" over the pic used.

So as you can see he easily switches from praise to slam not only from week to week but within the same post. He even uses the same pic from the "Is she really due" entry for the "Mommy Glow" entry.

Umyths its obvious this most recent entry of yours stems from your displeasure that Perez had the audacity not to slam Nicole in announcing the sex. That he didn't call the baby "fetus", didn't say how bad a mother you think she is, or comment on how mismatched you think KUNK is as a couple. He says nothing negative...he must have been paid off. But looking at whats he's said over the past month he's all over the place when it comes to Nicole.

Waving the "free speech flag" while railing against Perez for not furthering your cause is very hypocritical. Perez doesnt give a damn about Nicole or most of the other celebs hes writes about. He does it because he's making a good living. And he was never on a mission to ruin the image of a Nicole either, unlike yourself. Do i think what he does is noble or good? Absolutely not. But Ive seen far worse posted by the average anonymous person on message boards and blogs regarding tons of celebrities...including Nicole.

So Umyths next time you want a blog to do your dirty work, call on Lainey. I'm sure she'll be happy to oblige.

Review: Keith Urban, “You Look Good In My Shirt”

In an unconventional move, Keith Urban has chosen to release a song from his second album, Golden Road, rather than a new song from an upcoming album. While people could easily go back and listen to the original version that already exists on that CD, Urban is, apparently, giving us the chance to hear this fan favorite on the radio as well. Nevertheless, “You Look Good In My Shirt” is a catchy, up-tempo song that possesses just the right energy and Urban charisma to cause people to crank up their stereos.

A couple reconnects by spending the night together after a break up for an unknown reason. While he admits that he cannot guarantee that their differences won’t resurface at some point, he does not regret that she has spent the night: “Well now I’m not saying that we solved overnight/Every way that we went wrong/Oh, but what I’m seeing I’d sure love seeing/Every morning from now on/And maybe it’s a little too early/To know if this is gonna work/All I know is you’re sure looking good in my shirt.”

Okay, it’s a silly song, but one that I’m happy to add to my playlist.

"Over the years it ("Shirt") has always played like a hit song," said Urban. "That, combined with numerous requests from both fans and radio about why it was never a single, inspired us to get back into the studio and re-record the song."

Well researched answer RC.

UM - do you really think that Shirt will NOT do well? I happen to think it's a slam-dunk, and that IS the reason for doing this. I think it's pretty much a guaranteed hit for him and will keep him relevant until the DVD - and support the DVD. There are quite a few other opportunities to spin off of it as well. That song is a marketing persons windfall. I am saddened that it has to come to this, but I certainly understand the business behind it.

doublewide said...

not bad research RC. i give you that. (but if one of us skeptics spends time doing that we have no life), and all we do is look up info on the internet to try and prove a point.

as for releasing YLGIMS at this time IMO only smacks of desperation to get something on the radio. maybe that's gonna be the new trend. i sure hope not.

don't believe the lies said...

I did like this song...years ago. Seems like a desperate attempt from a desperate man. How sad would it be if this song actually did good on the radio from an album that is so old? It's quite odd to release this as his next single. Maybe he realizes his latest album is crap.

For a blog so irrelevant as some claim it is, it sure keeps them at their keyboards for a long time.

While others release NEW material, he releases remakes of old stuff.

Why not just release the LIVE cut off the upcoming DVD if that's really what they're promoting? Nah, didn't think so.

Good luck KOM, you're gonna need it.

It should probably do very well on the charts, but it won't be number 1 and even if it lands in the top three that still means he has lost his momentum - Country Radio is aware that Keith needs a hit; Capitol Nashville is VERY aware Keith needs a hit; this is his best chance, but depending on where the public is in regards to Keith it has quite the fight. Will you buy or download a new version of Shirt? I won't.

Berry Hill said...

I prefer the Golden Road version of "Shirt"-- better yet the old Keith Urban live version with the faster tempo-- the new version sounds like something a desperate Keith Kidman would do-- and he did.

On an unrelated but relevant note-- Entertainment Tonight is reporting Angie had the twins in France.

Certainly the mindless monkeylander's would dance for joy and exhaust a month's worth of smiley face and hyperventilating emoticons...(in fact the frothing faithful have been hilariously reprimanded for abusing the poor emoticon over at monkeyland, ...;-P....) if the orb were even to release a cover of "Tiptoe Through the Tulips"...falsetto, ukulele and all... so their personal opinion is irrelevant. And whether the recycled song does fine, or ok or passable is certainly beside the point, and certainly misses the point of the consensus of this blog... that the orbs latest stuff is subpar and lackluster... and the fact that he would actually give in and admit his new stuff probably sucks as well by having to dig up one of his own fossils is certainly not a very good reason for the blind rejoicing. Self parody is a sure sign of realization that the game is over, and the future fortells of mediocrity.

Well noone answered my question

When I found out about the re-release of YLGIMS, I fig'd it was just an easy shot to stay afloat while he is away being "daddy".

After this morning's news on the loan of Clarence, I actually thought maybe he will resurface later with a whole new look. he seems to be trying to get back in country's graces after the whole rock thing didnt happen so well.

Seems like something the whole KU would do.

Just sayin'

I'll repeat what I've said for months. If he's going to re-record old material it should have been done for the GH project. Had he taken the time to put even 2 new songs on the GH album that would have given him singles to draw on until the "new album comes out in 2009". Obviously the remake and the cover aren't going to cut it. Yet again too little too late Keith.

I've had Golden Road for many years - I won't be buying the new single. I wonder how long it will take him to release a video to go with it? The Everybody video came out months after the single was released. If he releases both about the same time it would greatly help. If all he does for a video is release the dvd footage - from the old dvd already out or the "new dvd coming soon" (that's been "coming soon" for months) it should already be done and ready to go.

The song is a shitty....I didnt buy the Greatest Hit record cause I already own all the songs and have mixed them to make my own GH which IMO is far better than his....so I wont buy this version of Shirt.....waste of time and money IMO.....why didnt he record that piece of crap Sunshine and put it out there.....I can only hope it's cause he realized it was a piece of crap song.
Give us something new, give us soemthing worth listening too....I dont see it going #1 I know I wont be requesting it there are far better songs on the radio right now.
Hey RC.....dont you have anything better to do with your time?! You have to be getting paid to post here cause why else would you continue to waste your time?

shirt would have been perfect for the gh album, which i didn't buy because it was a poor effort, imo. as you said, if keith had put two new songs or even two unreleased favorites (a la dierks) on the album, it could have tied him over. it's a shame he didn't put a little more thought into it.

as for the new version of shirt, i agree with berry hill. i prefer the original from golden road.

notachance said...

I just listened a few times to the new version - is there something different about it?

What makes anyone prefer the GH version over this one? Are there really musical differences that account for that? Or is it jaded views causing it? Is it just because Keith is not viewed as the sexy guy he once was? The song is about sex and one thing is for sure, nothing he has done in the past two years has had sex written all over it.

Maybe only us long-time fans will feel anything different, and all the newcomers will not notice a thing and eat it up.

Thanks to the posters who acknowledged my research. However, writing these responses doesn't take me long. Ive read Perez for months so i know his patterns, who he likes and who he doesn't. It took me 10 minutes maybe to go through the NK blogs and type up the list. If having ten minutes means you have no life well then none of us do, because i'm certain all of us here take 10 minutes out of our day to read KUNK related info on the net if not to post at various places as well.

The new YLGIMS is great...its as if he is singing it live and thats what makes it different and some say better than the original. I like them both. Its also got some sass which hasn't been present in the past few single releases. It is to be expected that any single released by Keith that doesn't reach #1 would been seen by Umyths as a failure and "bomb like nobody's business". But what this blog fails to realize is that KU still has the fan loyalty and the opportunity to release more singles despite the fact he hasn't had a recent #1. I am sure he knows that he is fortunate to be with a record company that was in a state of flux early in his solo career, has a history of not micromanaging the albums, and the popular country artist roster of which he is a part of did not get cut in the 2007 restructuring of Capitol Music. I think this was an excellent choice especially since Raise The Barn could never be released as a single.

RC: did you really expect to come across as a genius to openly admit having Perez on mental speed dial??

And you have a hard time with US being at Urban Myths??

nahhhh, not buying it. i don't think capitol is happy at all right now with his lack of interest in his music. IMO, still desperation on keith's part to have at least something on radio.

the new version is ok.....but i liked the one on GR better.

and even I don't go to perez hilton's sight. only if i see a link somewhere. now if he gets softer on NK, as maclen said, his credibility concerning her is going to be in serious question.

There was no wreck. Just more exaggeration. Keith was riding his newer CHOPPER, the one with the long extended front, during the rally. He hit some gravel on the road's shoulder and skidded a bit but that was it. He didn't fall or have to dump it. He was able to correct himself. He did not peel off after being asked about Nicole. This ride was in May 2006. The bike he is LOANING to the exhibit was purchased in August 2006 at the Sturgis Rally that he played at. It's the aqua colored one I'm sure you've seen in photos.

I happen to like the newer version of Shirt. If you can't hear a difference, you're not listening. I know my DJ's are thrilled with it. This has always been one of their favorites. He's using it in part for promotion for his concert DVD.

Funny, it seems she has dueling media leaking outlets now bickering over her leaks...as anthony fawcett, of lawsuit and expletive target fame, has entered the news cycle critisizing hilton's "exclusive" on the kids gender. Hilarious, it seems fawcett may be throwing a hissy fit as he suffers professional jealousy that hilton got the inside tip instead him...typical when you metaphorically, "get into bed" with differing agents of media "insemination". But as I mentioned before, when she begins to switch over to the newer media in an attempt to revive her dead career, alot of those old sources are going to scream before those bridges fully burn.

why the need to ask maclen? It was all right there in my post. Why would she be any better than Umyths in telling it the way it is. Or are all of you just looking for the answer you want to hear?

maclen said...

So, doublewide, just some late night musings... this regurgitated song, from what...6 years ago... just got me to thinking, so who was the orb hooked up with at the time, who he obviously wrote this plundered song for. It just seems obvious besides trying to rejuvinate his shot music career with a song from an earlier and far more creative period... BK...(before kidman)...but it also seems he believes this song written about some other woman who is not his currently self proclaimed savour and betrothed, would be preferable to anything current and mediocre about this current ball and chain. It seems pretty telling that he would feel the need to resurrect an obvious past emotional feeling and captured moment not currently his present emotional feeling or moment, which it seems he's lacking, to revisit and bring a much needed sense of achievement. So I say again, not a good sigh for his future prospects.
