Don't blame me, I am an actress...

How many times have we heard Nicole Kidman say that the work is much more important to her than the box office? Many times… and why? Because with her track record Kidman can't really say anything else; all does not look well for the Australia epic. Baz has yet to release the film to the studio for final production. There are rumors that the studio wanted a more uplifting ending (SPOILER), what with Hugh dying and all.Yes, this could be a big huge stinker. One telltale sign will be if critics don't get access to the film before it is released. If that doesn't happen, then BOOM! With this disaster simmering what does our Nicole do? She announces that she has signed on to produce and star in another movie.

It is a strategy she has used before. If you will recall just before the Invasion, Kidman announced her role in the epic and her other jobs that were upcoming. You remember her remake of How to Marry a Millionaire, a film that still hasn't been made. Yes, Kidman wants you to know she is still viable as an actress even if her films continue to be bombs. Luckily her divorce made her a very wealthy woman who can create work for herself, because it is looking as if this may be the only way she will find work.

A couple of other tidbits:

We will have a review of Sweet Thing very soon.

We have been asking ourselves why none of Keith Urban's fan outlets were told he was having a #1 party recently; it's strange that of the six or seven people still active in Monkeyville they wouldn't have been told that the party was going on and that it was open to the public. It seems that Echo did have some fans there, but they were there to see Nicole Kidman. You can tell that by looking at the footage; all those young women standing with Kidman for pictures - while Keith was on the sidelines alone with his wineglass at a party that was supposed to be about him. He should be used to that by now, shouldn’t he?

The endless promotion of the epic continues, and now is being brought front and center to the country music world. Kidman and Hugh Jackman will be presenting an award at the CMA’s on Wednesday night. We knew it would happen sooner or later, and what better time than to promote her make-it or break-it movie?

Jackman and kidman to present at the cma's? Boy, I didnt know they were "THAT HUGE" in country music... Do you think they'll burst out in song? Maybe do a version of "She's a little bit country, He's a little bit rock and roll? But the big question is whether kidman will wear overalls...or simply wear bluejeans and cowboy boots on the red carpet... she may even wear one of the orbs "rhinestone cowboy" shirts from his old days! Well, this is the surest sign of just how desperate they are over this movie...when kidman is forced to depend on the orb's territory for PR opportunities... and also dont forget, kidman is to be "honored" for her pathetic work for the UN...by who else? Glamour magazine...you know, she asked that people sign UNIFEM’s online campaign Say NO to Violence against Women... and yeah, that took such a tireless and selfless effort. Boy, using UN charity work...pathetic charity work, to shill for your next film... yes, stay classy kidman...

Nicole didn't announce anything. It was rumored many places but it was never confirmed by her or her people that the Millionaire movie was really happening. As far I can see neither she or Charlize or the director or any of their people have confirmed this new project. These rumors of films have been swirling around Nicole for years. What can actually get made and what cant has far more to do with the studio climate, funding, the economy and so forth rather than Nicole because most people see her as a asset, a real actress. There's also rumors of Charlize starring in a new Tom Cruise pic. That hasn't been confirmed either. I think you are jumping on the bandwagon way too early here.

#1 song parties thrown by the songwriting associations aren't normally open to the public. Those women there were some connected locals who knew it was happening. Of course pics of Nicole are going to be published. One things for sure...you keep saying Nicole has no fans but reality keeps showing otherwise. Also,I never ever got an email in advance saying Keith was having a #1 party. It happened and if we heard about it, we heard about it.

Continue insinuating that Keith is drinking Umyths. Most see right through your tactics.

And a big FYI, Nicole's character in Moulin Rouge! dies and that movie was a success.

I wouldn't count on "Australia" to fail. I also wouldn't count on a Jackman/Kidman presenting team to happen either.

Continue insinuating that Nicole can act Reality Check. Most see right theough your tatics.

Moulin Rouge was probabably a sucess BECAUSE Kidman's charecter dies.

If they don't want Australia to fail they should kill Kidman instead of Hugh.Maybe if they kill her off within the first 5 minutes it might stand a small chance.

I hope you are right about the CMA'S It's going to be bad enough putting up with Carrie Underwood for 2 hours, without having to look at the Pez dispenser shilling Australia.

SO Nicole is becoming a star in the country music scene too - but only by association! The woman clearly likes to be seen:

Choice kidman is desperate, this film is an obvious flop in the making... all the signs are there... this report that the studio forced baz to change the ending from sad to happy supports my belief that the test screenings were negative for the film...despite the insisting of the yaysayers, the reshoots were obviously called to film this supposed "happy" ending... and not, as insinuated by leaks from jackman that these supposedly "delayed" shoots of principle photography were because kidman was with child and could no longer shoot riding scenes... this is supported by reports and photos at the time of the reshoots...of kidman shooting in "indoor" studios..while photos of jackman and NOT of kidman...but her riding double on horseback were ever released...no doubt the bulk of these reshoots were of jackman's and kidman's "happy ending".... and not the orignal ending... of "jack"man "freezing to death" on the aussie outback! Well, there goes the titanic connection anyways...but they still got gone with the wind...and wizard of OZ... out of Africa... pearl harbor...

Poor Baz doesn't get to release the ending he wanted. I love the way they stated that the re-shoots were part of post production, rather than the true story i.e. that test audiences didn't like the movie. Now the truth is coming out. What is stranger is how Baz has been editing it right up to the last minute, claiming that he is a perfectionist etc etc - but the truth is, the film needed major reworking following those poor screen tests. Plus, I don't think teenagers will want to sit through almost three hours of a film about the old days. The only positive thing out of this movie is that Baz is trying to help the Aussie film industry - but, all the money is surely from overseas investors so how does that help? I still the think the remake of E.T. will do better.

Well, folks here we go....

http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=663547

"Kidman reveals intimate snap of Sunday Rose"

...and who is surprised that she revealed it on the Opry winfrey show shilling for her new movie?
Who would have ever thought that she would exploit her Pr baby to try and sell her film? She wanted to keep her precious little "joey" private? Not when you have another flop on your hands and your desperate for positive attention...

maclen said...

...ps...

AND! Who is surprised by who else is in the picture? I'll give you only one guess...

timtam said...

A mother and her babe. What a horrible thing!

I'm rolling my eyes big time at that question, in case you can't see it through your computer screen!

banbotox said...

Only one guess maclen? C'mon now...
Hmmm, so can I safely guess that it probably isn't the baby daddy right? Shame...

Only 25 more days until the opening of Australia and no ending yet...just saying.

Pity Keith can't go anywhere in Nashville now without kidman holding his leash even a #1 party.

Too bad the folks that made that song #1 weren't invited but who cares about them? They are not as nearly as important as kidman. She certainly has enough money to buy Keith all the #1s he could ever want.

cricket said...

The babe isn't a horrible thing timtam but the "mother" sure as hell is.

No the pops wasnt allowed in for that photo shoot...not important enough to her...Now my current question is... will "the photo" make the PR rounds with kidman? Will she whip it out at every tv inteview...you know... on GMA...tonight show...letterman? It is now obvious, as I stated before that kidman intended all along to exploit her PR baby for her career...she couldnt get her price for the baby pic from any magazine... to which she could have helped out a worthy charity... and she couldnt simply release a photo to the press, as she did with her wedding photo... no, she saved the baby pic until Nov., when her movie is coming out, ultimately to simply exploit it for her movie. What class...

maclen said...

So does anyone recall this?

http://www.parade.com/celebrity/2008/10/nicole-kidman-tears-of-joy

...From a interview kidman gave to Parade Magazine...perhaps you may not recall since this article came out waaaaayyyyyy back in Nov. 2, of 2008...8 whole days ago... quote:

“People say, ‘Oh, it would be so much easier if you’d just let them get a photo of her.’ And I can’t. I’m like, ‘I don’t want to. I want her to stay out of that.’ Maybe that will wane as she gets bigger, and I’ll be easier with it. But for now, I’m still keeping her in a bubble.”

...so, I guess the Oprah Winfrey Show, her live audience...and oprah's millions of viewers is part of kidman's baby's "bubble"...but let's try and be fair... I'm sure kidman's baby has gotten bigger in the last 8 days...

OK...my take on things. They may be way out there, but here it goes...I think Keith Urban entered Betty Ford for what ever amount of time that truley was and came out another human being. Wether that is a better human being than before is still up for discussion. I believe he entered rehab to avoid humiliation for his indiscressions. Which is what happanened....then some how while in rehab he figured the best way to deal with this hand of cards dealt to him was to to join them. It is completely odvious to me that he has become the trophy husband as paid for and is full-filling the contract accordingly. No other possibility can fit this mold, other than the one Kidman has forged out. Keith is so much second fiddle to all of this is, it is not even funny. The sadest part though, he seems to have fallen in a comfortable spot of being Mr. Nicole Kidman. His artistic ability seems to be lost.
How truley sad it is for Keith Urban fans...I think he has fanished! Maybe one day he'll find the happiness that can bring back the artistic Keith Urban who can make that wonderful music that he is capable of doing. Maybe that is the path Sunday Rose is to help with....only time will tell. For it certainly is not Nicole Kidman, that has already proven a hinderance rather than anything else.

Well, it's very telling when even an aussie site is calling kidman out over insisting that she would keep her baby "in a bubble" over public photos of her kid....

http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2008/11/11/1226318635756.html

"Nicole Kidman has broken a pledge not to show her baby girl to the world by flashing a photo of Sunday Rose during an interview with US talk show host Oprah Winfrey."

Over at Nicole Kidman's Journey, choice commented that is looked heavily contrived with oprah, convientiently getting to the point where she is asked about it and that she just "happens to have a photo in her purse" as if it was not planned all along to reveal the kid...and it then occurred to me that certainly kidman needed to make a splash on Oprah...kidman has to counter the cruise-ster...who you'll recall famously jumped on oprah's couch to proclain his love for katie holmes...kidman needs that publicity very desperately right now...

WOW--I rarely post, but do read often. I couldn't help but to watch Oprah Monday to see NK, I was hoping KU would show up......but oh no, this again is all about her.
So why would I post now? That woman seriously looked like a clown, and I mean that literally. It was shocking. High Definition TV really shows everything. For those who saw her, I am sure you know what I am talking about. Red/orange hair, with grey in it, blood shot eyes, BRIGHT RED blush and HUGE HUGE overfilled BRIGHT RED lips. And it got worse, to continue the color explosion, she had on a deep purple velvet looking jacket, with gold buttons, gold hoop earrings, a yellow/gold top, and pale purple (or something close to that) skin tight pants, and spike heels.
I also noticed the tip of her hose appeared dented or the shape was off someway.
She is slowly showing the signs of becoming a plastic surgery freak. I did notice a couple of times she lifted her eyebrows and there were a few wrinkles that appeared on her forehead. WOW.....she is strange looking.
I can't even begin to discuss her behavior or the coincidence of someone backstage who just happened to have access to her wallet, how dumb does she think we are?
One comment though..Hugh Jackman brought those cookies from Australia for the audience. She couldn't be outdone, so she brought GooGoo bars, which you can buy in any gas station in the south. She is not a native and I doubt spends any time in Nashville, HOW FAKE!!
One last thing, when Hugh Jackman came out, I noticed she didn't even bother to stand up. Isn't that polite that everyone stands when another guest comes out? I guess the queen feels she needs to remain on her throne.
WOW--what a mess.

Lightsourceyoga, kidman's bizarre physical appearance notwithstanding... lainey has a funny post this morning on kidman's grossly swollen lips...her public behavior also leaves alot be desired. She is so gawky and self conscious... I imagine the audience of say the Oprah show, is constantly cringing at her awkward pretenses... I read that when kidman was showing oprah the photo, she was supposedly "unaware" that the camera's were on...so she embarressingly just had to show the audience... and the cameras... yeah, that's believable! It's part of the reason she is not successfully popular...she does not emote any believeable warmth or genuine interest in her films.

Thank you, Music.
How much must you love a person? Why do people allow people to treat them so? I understand low/no self esteem, but with the setting and achieving of each short term tangible goal, (such as living to breath another day), we grow stronger, more equipped to face the next.

One breath, one step, one note, one tear, one yawn, one scream, this is how we go on. But you have to go on. Nothing stays the same, everything changes, gets old, gets better, becomes different, it's not all bad.

Why?

I'm so glad I'm who I am. I think I'll go count every wrinkle and line I have. I may even take a glance at the rear view in the mirror, (no, not without my clothes, are you crazy?). We must remember, with all they have, they have nothing at all.

It's very, very sad.

realitycheck said...

maclen that is incorrect. They had come back from commercial and Nicole had forgotten they were back taping. It was after the baby pic was already shown.

Keith took the photo that was shown. I'm glad they aren't as tacky as other celeb couples to do a silly photo shoot. Personal photos like the one Nicole showed are ones you can treasure for a lifetime. That photo was a nice way to give the audience what they wanted without the full monty. Ive seen stars go on Oprah and have the kids pics put up life-size on the screen behind them. What happened with Nicole's appearance is no different or more exploitative than any other stars.

lightsource, maybe someone should tell Hugh that my local movie theater here in the States sells Tim Tims as a premium item. You can buy them in the US but many people don't know about them. So I guess Hugh didn't do a good enough job of bringing over something rare enough LOL And Goo Goo bars are divine. You can't fault anyone for bringing them. Who cares if they are sold in gas stations. Wanna make a bet those Tim Tams are sold in convenience stores/gas stations in Oz?

So... over at the official CMA website they've confirmed that jackman and kidman in fact will be crashing the ceremony in a desperate attempt to save their Thanksgiving "turkey"... and once again..did'nt realize kidman was sopopular or "into" country music...outside of course of damaging the orbs country music career through marriage and a personality corrosion of blandness...or for that fact, she was ever that into Broadway society before she presented at the Tony awards a few years ago. Well, not of course if you dont clearly understand that kidman simply presented at the Tonys to get out of appearing at the movie premiere of her obvious clunker stepford wives, which was held on the same day! And believe me, Austrailia is in absolute chaos and headed for utter disaster, wallowing in a sea of negative and directionless bad buzz ... I imagine the attempts by the studio to try and find any... and every... possible venue, no matter how out of place or totally unrelated, for jackman and kidman to try and sell this mess of a film.

Interesting? Hardly. Just a news agency trying to make an eye-catching headline. The first pics were weeks ago. And if we want to get technical the real first pics were her completely covered up.

And on a side note, how anyone could think "Sweet Thing" was about Sunday is just baffling. It's clearly about romantic love. It's not in the vein of Amy Grant's "Baby Baby" where the lyrics could be interpreted in two different ways. "When I picked you up on our first date baby..." "Climbed inside and slid on over to the other side..." How could that possibly be a father talking about his daughter?

not anon said...

Choice - I loved this line from the article

Kidman initially showed Winfrey a photo of baby Sunday taken by Urban. She initially seemed to want to show it only to Winfrey, before candidly allowing the talk show host to present it to the audience and the cameras.

Please - she knew what she was doing - why in the world would she pull a picture out in front of the entire audience and then only show the big O? That would be just plan bad manners. If she thought she was on break and not filming - she had the opportunity to politely refuse or just simply said she didn't have a photo with her to show.

So here, the baz addresses the latest big issue about his movie...

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/files/2008/11/baz-luhrmann.html

* Addressing reports that the ending had to be changed due to a poor response from test audiences...
* "What's interesting is I wrote, I think, six endings in all the drafts I did, shot three, and I ended up concluding the film in a way in which I—probably more than anyone—least expected. And there is a death in the ending of the film, by the way—it's a bit of a twist and I won't give it away... And, incidentally, the two endings, by the way, tested completely the same essentially, you know? They really did in the numbers. But I came up with a third ending, and the ending that I've created about the film came from a place of a response, actually, to the thing that I wanted the movie to be—the important, big idea of the movie—how to amplify that big idea. And, essentially, that's, as the little boy says, "The rain will fall. The grass grows green. And life begins again." And that idea—that in a world that is so full of fear, and things are falling down, and people are somewhat concerned— Sending a movie out there that can leave people with a sense that, despite it all, you can go back to Faraway Downs, or that you can go on, and a sense of hope, is something I really felt personally I wanted the movie to give out... But I think the big story is how the actual ending I came up with—which is quite unusual, it's not easy to say it's 'the happy one' or 'the death one'—it's something quite surprising. And it found itself, really."

...no wonder kidman considers this guy to be her cinematic "soul mate"...rambling incoherantly.. around, and then back again... in a jumbled mess of ideas... so what I can make out in this jumbled mess of an answer.quote: "...I ended up concluding the film in a way in which I—probably more than anyone—least expected." Translated... the studio forced him to change his ending....BUT...he starts off by stating..."What's interesting is I wrote, I think, six endings in all the drafts I did, shot three..." Which he tries to insinuate he had a ending that the studio, and not he, eventually decide on...but later he says..."the two endings, by the way, tested completely the same essentially, you know? They really did in the numbers. But I came up with a third ending..." Is that so baz? You first say you shot 3... but then say that only 2...a sad and happy ending tested equally well, but the studio still wasnt satisfied...and you came up with a third ending? That is quite the linquistic maneuvering and somersaulting to simply admit the studio forced you to change the ending to a happy one! Oh yeah, people will buy that...Also baz claims there IS a death in the ending... but its a twist!...ohhhhh the suspense!...Way to try and salvage a film with bad buzz bazz!...but its not jackman apparently, the studio decided that...but also apparently, the studio doesnt give a damn who else in the film dies? Hilarious....So in conclusion...if this movie...in which the baz also confirms will be about 2 1/2 to 3 hours long...( fans, dont forget to bring your NO DOZE...) is even close to as meandering and as incoherant as this very lame answer... I see a certain flop.

No mistake. Nicole hands Oprah the photo pic facing the audience and says nothing about only her seeing it. I do think it was intentional for the photo shown not to be a head-on shot or with the eyes open. Any article saying it could have been a "mistake" is completely wrong IMO. And as far as I know Nicole hasn't said she didn't mean to show the audience either.
