Kidman's Awards Campaign

It all starts this week.

We are now heading into the big awards season. The critical awards are being announced this week. Will Kidman get one? Probably not. The award that Kidman has the best chance at is the Golden Globe. The Foreign Press loves her and she has won the Globe three times. Kidman is a star, as opposed to Portman  being an actress and Annette Benning isn't even in the same category; she is in the comedy category. As for Mr. Oscar? Hard to say.

If Rabbit Hole gets in the top three in next week's box office Kidman will get her nomination. But given the tragic circumstances in Arizona, people are looking to escape reality and the subject of the death of a child is not something most want to see dramatized. Another factor that will play is the girl from True Grit. Many see her as a spoiler and the nomination that could be sacrificed is Kidman's.

This is highly political, this awards thing. If you get nominations you get work and you get better pay. If you win it is even bigger. Kidman needs the nomination. At her age and where her box office numbers are, she can't coast too many more years on her past glory. Kidman is playing a fine game. Lots of press that appeals to the public. Happy family, sex filled marriage to a desirable man; that man in turn giving her credit for his existence for the last five years. Kidman talking about her craft, her art. Kidman, the woman, talking about her life, even her past. She wants this. But dear Nicole you don't stand a chance. Sorry, but new Hollywood in the form of Portman, Eisenberg, Bale and Amy Adams have arrived. It is their time. But bigger than even that is one Annette Benning, three time nominee married to a Hollywood legend, Warren Beatty; sister-in-law to another legend. Oscar loves to award those who have been ignored in the past. Add to that one of the best roles for a woman in her forties in years and I think we have a winner. According to Rodger Friedman, Beatty is calling in a lot of favors and Benning is playing the best game around. Nicole, you aren't married to the biggest star in the world anymore; Oscar has to look at your work and while you may get a nomination maybe it isn't the best performance. So prepare to see a lot of shots of Nicole and Keith all dolled up at many functions in the next six weeks (as evidenced in the above photo); and going home with nothing, maybe not even with each other.

On another note: It has been several weeks since the flooding in Oz started, and the town that Keith Urban grew up has now been evacuated. Enough said about that.

I bet Keith would really love to bend down to kiss his wife. Between the high heels and the hair hiked up to Jesus, Keith really does look like a little boy next to his wife. He looks natural intimate-wise with this woman, but it appears his wife wants a piece of the action!

She wants any award so bad, she can taste it. Portman, Eisenberg, Bale, Adams AND Benning are by far deserving of these awards because they can act in every movie they have been in. Let's compare flops, shall we?

Yeah, I agree Urban Myths, the Arizona incident DOES change alot of perceptions drastically. Personally, I feel it does doom sarah palin's hope of a political future. And like palin, kidman is simply an empty vessel in which every conceivable PR smoke and mirrors has been tried in order to make them something which they are clearly NOT. As to her "campaign"...that photo of mutt and jeff at the Carole Bayer Sager function is just totally ridiculous. Kidman looks like she's trying to "mount" sager and ride her horseback...and orb is straining to get into photo op position that he's practically stepping on her foot! Again, the stench of sheer desperation is seething out of every image! This appearence would seem to be a reaction to Bening, as Urban Myths mentions in the blog post...kidman wanting to get a little "old school" cred from Sager! But again, I maintain this is simply kidman's LAST GASP...there is absolutely no other buzz for her film...not for Picture, not for director...not for supporting cast. Kidman is simply in the race in a clearly "unspectacular" year in female leads. And by all accounts she IS the 5th...and could likely be knocked out by a dark horse.

Rabbit Hole isn't even opening in a 50 mile area near my home.

Keith looks like he had a session with Dr Botox too.

I haven't seen it in my travels, my route takes me in a radius of about 120 miles in all directions from my home.

Boy, another "blockbuster' from Blossom.... a tired remake? VERY impressive!
Just remembered that Rabbit Hole is to expand it's theater count...so went to box office mojo to check out the "expansion"...

http://boxofficemojo.com/schedule/

...RH to expand...to 100 theaters?...again, impressive...a WHOLE extra 60 theaters! Nothing like being able to play in the big time huh? OR CLEARLY NOT! pathetic.

Urban Myths, I about choked when I seen that!! The longer this goes on, the more speechless I become! I'm literally at a loss for words except for 2...Insanely pathetic!!!

On a lighter note, just for fun, does anyone have any 2011 predictions for KUNK they would like to share???

Hatti said...

Yes I have a prediction.....Moosie girl will fall on her face again. She will blame her failing husband for not being famous enough to keep her afloat.

And KU liked kissing a small brunette so much that he is now trying out for a movie role opposite? Yes a small brunette!!! ((giggles)))

After all Moosie girl spent days in a tub with a strange man during EWS, why not KU finding a tub with a cute ((SHORT)) brunette and weeks of retakes!! ((giggles)))

Nick looks ridiculous manhandling this artist for a piece of the action.

It's pretty obvious that the artist isn't into her yet she's still hovering, seizing, and banging on her, lol.

How creepy.

So, late last night during a commercial break of Letterman, I begin to flip throught the channels and I happen on the Critics Choice Awards on VH1. And you'll just NEVER guess what happened! It was a SHOCKER of SHOCKERS...Natalie Portman took best actress! Who could have guessed! I'm rather certain mutt IS resigned to that reality. Of course, in her acception speech, portman was eloquent, witty, relaxed and very well spoken...imagine the rambling and incoherance of a kidman acception speech as she stammers on about "how her ART is important?!
So, the single nom...and with the "expanding" Rabbit Hole basically dropping out of site...still waiting for Box office mojo to update the friday box office grosses...isnt helping in kidman's "campaign' Just for comparison, Black Swan cost 13 mill to make, and has now grossed just over 60 mil at the box office...so far. Now Black Swan MAY not take Best Picture at the Oscars...but at least IT DOES have box office success...something I can CERTAINLY claim will NOT BE the case with Rabbit Hole!

Rabbit Hole seems to be at it's all time daily low average.

I'm so happy NP is getting the accalades that is due her. I think her performance was top notch!!

On the other had when you put RH and BS side by side it is obvious NP our acted NK by miles.

I hope the GG and the Oscars will see it the same way. It is time Moosie girl retires before she take her clothes off. (EWWWWW))))

I love Lainey-between the two of them. . .

Well maclen, it was truly pleasant to see the right actress win. NP deserves the award. And again a lovely acceptance speech. Now on to the Oscars.

I guess Moosie girl can zipper up her pocket book and go home!!!

Not even Ruppie will be able to help. There is just to much competition and well deserved talent. She just don't have what it takes. Never did really!! ;)

Crikey, it's like stumbling onto a freak show attraction when you muddle yourself into it...to wit...

...as I mentioned earlier, it's only a matter of time when her LIPS become the center of the next rash of mockery. But kidman alway made it soooo easy! But seriously....she's MAKING A COMEBACK?

Nicole did not go home empty handed at the Golden Globe Awards today. We were also there to hand out our own, hee hee:

Didn't get a chance to see the GG last night, but came across this interview on the red carpet.

Well, is she finally learning to cook or is she ????

Also, let us not forget when RH flops that it's KU fault. Afterall, he was the one who pushed her to do the film!!!

Yes Hatti, these things are pretty predictable. BUT, there is no doubt, as I mentioned previously even if Black Swan doesnt take best picture at the Oscars...the film is a huge box office success already.
Now, as for last night, Lainey puts it exactly as I see it...

Globes Same Old: Nicole Kidman

"Anyway, Nicole was relatively quiet last night, non?
I mean she tried to do the same cutesy loved up action with Keith Urban on the carpet but… it was like she came and went. We hardly talked about her last night during all the fist pumping squealing over the other crazy sh-t that was going down. I suppose that’s a good thing.
Remember when I wrote about post-TIFF buzz, and how many producers were saying that Nicole’s face has taken her out of consideration for so many scripts now that it hardly moves? Unless she drives her own projects, she’s not getting many calls. So she’s driving a new project.

It’s a remake of a movie called Love and Pain and the Whole Damn Thing. Also, Keith put out an album in 2006 called Love, Pain, and The Whole Crazy Thing. If not for Natalie Portman, this would be some hall of fame Fontrum. But Ms Portman, she just raised the bar on Fontrum to a whole new level.

...Yeah, that says it all.

Oh yeah, saw this last night...jsut as I predicted last thread, the shameless exploitation of the "unfortantes" for personal gain continues...

Nicole Kidman lauds Aussie flood spirit

"NICOLE Kidman yesterday hailed the Aussie spirit in the aftermath of the Queensland floods.

"It's the amazing spirit of people when something like this hits," she said, speaking on the red carpet at the Golden Globe awards."

"Every day we followed it and we were seeking it out."

...oh yeah, you "followed it EVERYDAY"...but waited for the red carpet of a "celebrate the celebs day" to mention it? It gives me a HUGE rush that you DIDNT get recognized for an award...trying to shill for it on the backs of the unfortunates! I suppose she WONT mention the aussie victims again UNTIL the next lousy film she is in for about 5 minutes is released next month!

FF, anything that goes wrong is everyone's fault but her's. This will be a killer, she put alot of money into that film she backed Lionsgate and it is not going anywhere. She is more popular abroad then here and she couldn't cut it. It is soooooo over. The HBO movie will not do any better than this.

KU will be holding the proverbial bag. He suggested this movie? NOT but he will be blamed. He created a sham of a CD and dedicated it to her and she will blame her fall from GG grace on that as well. He is now dedicating his Pain ablum to her movie? OH good KU kill another one why don't you!! B/c when it doesn't work it will be his fault again.

Well really it is his fault!! Let's be truthful about it. He created the worst CD he has ever put out and dedicated it to the worst actress ever put out. Why should it work?? Well it did work the CD and Moosie girl were made for each other.

Keep going KU, she will be laughed out of the business with her country bumpkin hubby from the backwoods of Queenie!!! Two no talents that were made for each other as well!!(((giggles))))

You may as well hang up your guitar and be her hand maiden you sure fit the part !!!
