It's Keith's fault that he is where he is

Before we even start debating that point, I will say this and be quite clear about it. We wouldn't be here writing this, there would be no such thing as skeptics, had Nicole Kidman not pursued Keith Urban at G’Day LA in January 2005. Remember she got the brush off from him. She went that extra step and went after him over a period of time even though he was in a relationship. Always remember Kidman started this entire thing.

That being said, Keith is at fault for giving in to the fame bug. It’s not like it isn't something he was never intimate with before. This is the man who posed for Playgirl, who painted his toe nails gold and who had some enhancing dental and possible facial work done. He knew what a stylist was and he knew how to work a room. Yes, he wanted to be famous, but Keith really does differ from Kidman. While she sought recognition for her work and played a complex game of putting herself in films that would garner notice and critical acclaim, she also used her personal life to get famous.

She didn't have enough talent to warrant consideration until she became Mrs. Tom Cruise. Keith Urban never had to date anyone to be famous. Some of you right now are differing with me. Saying that you didn't know him before Kidman hooked in to him. In the music community he was well known – he was nominated for a Grammy for an instrumental track on his first solo record. In country music, after a lot of hard work on his part, he was gaining the momentum to be a contender and to be on the track to being a country legend.

Keith always had the ability and he knew that. In a recent book on the business he talked about getting his publishing deal so that he could make money while playing because he knew once people saw him that they would like the music. He knew later on that he would have to keep them, and he said he has refined his writing habits to do that. I would disagree. His songs are not all dogs, but he has, and can do better. Kidman has seen that as she ages she is going from the young “with it” girl to a sad specimen of her past. While Keith may be in the doldrums right now, there is hope he will get out of this phase and live up to the early promise he had. Kidman can't come back.

The choice is his. Right now he isn't showing that he is interested, or is he? Let’s face it; she must be a nightmare to live with. Has he been too distracted? Time will tell, but this writer thinks he still has a career left in him.

It is a shame that Keith hasn't done more with his career. A few years ago (before Nicole) he could have surpassed Kenny, Tim, Toby etc. Which is where I thought he was going after his CMA EOTY win. Sadly the opposite happened. I still remember his acceptance speech as I'm sure everyone else does. So humble, sincere, honest and happy. Where did that guy go? He's definetly NOT the same guy. THAT guy I thought was going to rule the country music world, and should have.

I have seen Keith recently and while he was good it just wasn't the same. There was still that "something" missing that only Keith Urban has. He was by far one of the best performers I had ever seen. Yeah he still kicks ass at guitar, sounded ok and interacted with the crowd a little but something was just not there like it use to be. It makes me sad that being with someone can change a person so much.

I do hope that Keith finds that thing that is missing eventually. Whether he's married to the skankbag or someone else one day. It helped make him who he was.

I think of Garth, who set his career aside for his personal life. Every time I see him perform, there is a FIRE. He has passion for his wife and family, and there is support there for his career and to continue his passion for music. Keith, on the other hand, doesn't show the spark that he once did. Nicole doesn't support him, nor by her own words does she even understand what he does. When she attends an awards show, it's for HER not for him. It's sad. When there is love and passion and things are happy at home, it will show in your professional life. I speak from experience. I too believe that Keith has a career left. But to get back to the passion, he needs to lose the extra baggage.

A) Who here has first-hand knowledge that she pursued him while he was in a "relationship"?

B) If I recall after that meeting at the G'Day thing Keith said in an interview that he would be interested in her but she was engaged. Tells me there was a connection made....

C) Didn't Keith say he was going to take a year off after winning EOTY? Even before NK was in the picture?

Keith and Nikkers - it will never last.

nota,
A. I can give you second hand knowledge (from several Nashville friends at the time) that he was dating someone else up until June or July, I forget which now, and was "soon seen making headlines with NK". Some Nashvilleians just assumed he was on the rebound, hanging out with her, and would soon bore of her and move on. Unfortunately it didn't happen. At least it hasn't yet. Only Keith & Nic really know how obsessively she pursued him but she does have a reputation for going after what she wants relentlessly. Maybe Zoe can confirm "first hand" personally.

B. She WAS engaged. She admitted so herself later (unless that leak was another lie for publicity). As I remember right after the first meeting both said it was NOT love at first sight and then changed it later to it being a cosmic connection.

C. Keith said he was going to take time off from touring with a few gigs here and there (no specific time period given) to write and record the next album. Instead, he made headlines with her, fell off the wagon, got married, went to rehab, and released a sub-par album compared to what he is capable of (not necessarily in that order).

It's pretty clear despite the continued debate about how and why it happened, the reality is the orb has slipped... in popularity and cd sales. He will never get back to the point where he was, as I call it, BK... I dont really see him coming up with music that will take him back to that point... it certainly hasnt been seen since. Wishful thinking may give comfort to his remaining fans...the fact is no one, not the orbs former fans or kidman's paltry audience of a long list of movie flops, is going to buy anything this celeb couple has to sell.

I have to disagree with you....I have been around for many years, and I've seen the many sides to Keith and trust me there are many. I enjoy his music as a whole, there are some songs (that piece of crap Sunshine he did at the Ryman a few weeks back comes to mind) that I wouldnt buy, that is the beauty of legal downloads....if I dont like the whole cd I can just buy the songs I want....I will still listen to something he puts out because I am still holding out hope he'll show me yet another side of him, one that lives up to the potential he has. That is my disappointment with him, he is not living up to what he could be and he's letting what he worked so hard for slip away from him. I presonally think he is so out of touch with reality that he doesnt realize the way things have gone down hill.
As for her....I never had feelings one way or another towards her before....knew who she was but didnt have an interest in anything about her one way or the other. I didnt like her, and I didnt not like her. What I have seen since she's hooked herself into Keith I dont like.
Also I cant give first hand but I can say I was told as well when he met Nicole he was in a relationship. She has confirmed she was as well and she was even engaged, and as for the time off he never said a year he said his tour schedule would be limited so he could work on the record. Hopefully he learned he makes a better record when he's on the road.

A. The author of the blog knew he was in a relationship. But since that will never be good enough for you, Ted C also wrote in the Awful Truth in the fall of 2005 that Keith never called her back because he was with someone.

B. He didn't say he was interested in her; he said he met her. The interviewer was trying to get him all hot and bothered about her
and Keith wouldn't take the bait; he said he thought she was engaged or something.

C. No, he never said that in public; he said that he could change things a bit and not tour as much and devote time to recording a great new record. But not that he was going to quit working.

Right after the photo was published in July 2005, the first photo, there was a press release stating that Keith had broken up with Niki Taylor - even though they had been apart for a year.
That came from Kidman because she knew that Keith's fans knew he was dating someone. Taylor wasn't that person.

This is a "nothing" blog to fill up space once again. All this is obvious to the skeptics and at the same time is incorrect to the supporters. I don't get the hub-bub over who pursued who. Many times its one person who does the pursuing. Love at first sight to me isn't real. I think lust at first sight is, or infatuation at first sight. And people confuse them with love. Something thats a cosmic connection is special and doesn't happen often with anyone you meet, of the opposite sex or not.

As for the engagement, Nicole revealed she had been engaged in the past but not to who. This was long after Keith and Nic got together. At the time of G'Day LA there were rumors making mainstream news that Nicole was engaged to Stephen Bing. This was never confirmed by anyone, but thats why Keith said that to Blair Garner. If he had any interest he would never say it on air. Personally i think Nicole was never engaged to Bing, but was engaged to Lenny Kravitz.

Umyths, you have no clue whether that press release was from Kidman. Just more speculation.

inittowinit, i feel sorry for Trisha. She is so talented, much more so that Garth IMO. And we all know she wouldn't have gotten to sing on the ACM's without it being a duo which is a shame. She is living under his shadow. Maybe she's okay with it but i feel bad for her.

Love the blog. I have felt for a long time that Keith could get back to the level he was at in 2005, if he can focus on his career long enough. I agree that he has what it takes to be the top dog in country music...but that takes alot of effort. Right now, he is putting that effort into painting NK's toe nails and holding her purse, instead of his music.

It's obvious he still loves to play, but it is going to take more than touring and playing the same songs to fill a stadium or get consistent #1's on the radio.

And if any one decides to tell me he doesn't want to focus on his career, I get that. It's obvious. But you know what? Most people are able to have a personal life AND a career. For Keith ... his career appears to be his hobby these days. I want to see a man committed to his music ... you know, the stuff that's like breathing to him.

And as far as him announcing he was taking alot of time off in 2006 ... sure he announced it. But he announced that AFTER he and NK were engaged in Oct 05. It was all about NK even back then. He had the world by the tail and he gave it up to hold her purse and chase her around the world. It's a waste.

Yeah, my take is that first fame is very very difficult to attain. There are many more who are no doubt even far more talented, charasmatic or deserving than the orb who have not been as lucky to hit the big time. And it is far far easier to botch that first fame and let it slip away with missed opportunities and lackluster performance. What I'm saying is that the orb may put out the greatest album of recorded music the world has ever heard, and it is not guarenteed that it will sell 20 million copies...as it is not guarenteed that a terrible and embarrassing album may sell 20 million copies. I believe he has missed his best opportunity to be a lasting or as successful musican because the odds are now against him. As history shows, even far more successful musicians have fallen into the downward spiral never to recover... I believe the orb in his current tragectory is doomed to be one of them to spiral away.

I don't understand this whining. "It's Keith's fault"..etc.

Listen, everyone here acts like Keith owes you something. As if he should explain and apologize to you for his actions and his decisions, and live his life the way you decide. That's insane.

He does NOT owe you anything. He is an artist. If or when he creates something new is up to him. If that fact disappoints you that's too bad.

The fact that you are his fans does not give you the right to try to pressure him to perform or create the way you want him to, and that is EXACTLY what this site is all about.

This is something you simply cannot and will not ever understand.

Just like you do he is living his own life. He doesn't create blogs and tell you what to do, who you should marry, where you should live, what to wear and how to do your job. He doesn't start hating your spouses and blame them for your failure to live up to his demands on you.

This is ridiculous. Since there is so much complaining I don't understand why you don't move on. He has, you should too. lol

I have no doubt he will stay married to Nicole. He will have one or more kids and be more of a family man. That is his choice to make, not yours.

First of all, you're wrong if you think that all the people posting here believe we are going to influence Keith's decisions. He's a big boy and I doubt, based on my observations, that he does anything because of what his fans think. I even doubt he follows the advice of his management people or the label.

But does he owe me anything? That's an interesting question. For most artists, there is a special relationship between the artist and his fans. In country music, it is a much more personal relationship, normally.

So ... it's up to Keith to decide whether he "owes" his fans anything for their devotion ... for spending their money on his music and his concerts ... for voting for him in the fan voted awards ... for joining his fan club ... for calling in to get his music on the radio or doing the various projects to get him noticed and expand his fan base.

I think he does owe the fans something ... but it is, in the end, up to Keith to decide if he appreciates his fans and owes them something in return for all they do.

I read all the time ... oh look all that Keith does for his fans. You see, I love the man's live shows. He's brilliant and even if it's the same show over and over, there's something that is very special about him as an entertainer. But when he does put on a show, I am more and more convinced that this is NOT about the fans. It's all about Keith and getting his adoration fix. He NEEDS to perform.

He doesn't owe me an explanation regarding why he married NK. I don't like how she has influenced his career, but that is besides the point. His personal life is his decision. All I ask is that he keep it private and not let it constantly creep into his stage presence and his public life. I rejoice when I read an interview that is ABOUT HIS MUSIC and not about his extraordinary wife who saved him. She overshadows him at every function they attend...and every article about him, includes NK.

Frankly, I do think he owes me something. How about some decent seats in the pre-sales...if NOTHING else? Sorry...for me, it's about his music. That's what he owes me. He owes me a good show if I spend my hard earned money to attend. He owes me his best effort in his next CD. He owes me something for that money I may spend as a member of his fan club. He should be grateful to me (and all his fans) for his career success and his financial security,(well...maybe Tommy's money is his primary nest egg now!) because it is his fans that have given that to him.

The one thing I'll say about Keith ... although I don't think that he really thinks alot about his fans, is that he is always gracious and sweet when he meets a fan. Some artists are not. So, I think on a one on one basis he is kind and likely grateful. However, this is lacking for his fan base as a whole. There are some minor improvements in the fan club in the last year, but over all, there is a lack of personal attention and, yes, I think he owes that.

For over ten years I've helped that man get to where he WAS. He was a nobody when I first saw him....nobody had a clue who he was and nobody cared because he was too different for where country music was at that time. Im not alone there are countless others who were there then and for whatever reason are still here now. He does owe me and those other people something, as well as his current fans and that is something you clearly will never understand.
It comes with being an "artist."
If you want to make it in this world as an "artist" than you will cater to what your audience wants otherwise you will loose that audience....Keith was doing just fine catering to his audience until she walked into his life. He changed for her and that is as clear as water to many of us.
You're right he doesnt tell me what to do or how to do it or when to do, but then again he's not paying me to live my life. I and everyone else are paying him for a service everytime we buy something he puts out.....the service sucks and many people have already taken their business elsewhere....if it continues to suck, then he's going to loose the business he had built.
Your fooling your self if you dont think he listens to Nicole or his mgmt....he listens to them to much....he needs to go back to the drawing board, and go back to what had built him the momentum he had going into 2005.
You are entitled to your opinion Karolyn....but this clearly isnt a place where most people will a gree with you. We do feel owed something and that is the service we've been paying for. It's business.

Yeah your right, wastedemotion... it's a simple business issue... if you're offering a product many people want, you'll be successful, and if you no longer offer what they want, you'll go out of business. The orbs remaining fans may overlook his dwindling sales and returns and comfort themselves with the belief that he will find his past success with this next single..or possibly a new album next year... but as I always say, you ignore the signs of the rust and corrosion by wearing "rose colored glasses" at your own peril.

...BULLETIN.....BULLETIN....BULLETIN......

Kent Brockman: We interupt out regularly scheduled programing to bring you this special announcement... we take you now to maclen, our "global" correspondant...

Maclen: "Yes, thanks Kent...I am standing here in the middle of the internet blog, Urban Myths, and I have it on very good authority that the Hollywood movie, "Australia" starring that emaculate and sterling actress Nicole Kidman and that wolf guy from X-men, which is due for release on August 13, 2008 will in fact not be a flop because it is "beautiful" and "has elements". This reliable source also tells me "It is a love story" and a "romance". It is an "adventure story"... "with war elements"...and oh yes, "and for the most part it is set in the Australian outback". This reliable source has also informed me that it was like Titanic... but also like "Gone with the Wind... and so is absolutely sure "those images alone will seduce many."

Kent Brockman: Maclen, what else has this reliable source revealed to you, that the kidman devoted can take heart in this being a smashing success for the talented, yet stunningly beautiful Nicole Kidman?

Maclen: Well Kent, this source has revealed to me that the movie "Australia" will in fact not flop at the box office because it will be saved by the "Markets in Asia", as I was to learn Asia has a huge film market... in which they also sell fresh octopus and a wide variety of "Scrimps"..as well as having a wide meat variety such as Bull and Buloney...

Kent Brockman: Maclen, is that in reference to the Boulogne-Billancourt, a suburb of Paris?

Maclen: No Kent, as in the salted cured meat baloney... it's great with a little mustard on a ritz cracker, if your ever feeling a little peckish...

Kent Brockman: Yes...well any other important information you were able to obtain from your reliable source, Maclen?

Maclen: Affirmative Kent, the last parting bit of info I recieved from this reliable source was a very cryptic, "Istanbul is situated in Turkey". Which threw me for a loop, initially, but I was sure in the whole scheme of things in the Nicole Kidman world, it most certainly and definately says it all, Kent.

Kent Brockman: And what exactly does it say, Maclen?

Maclen: (after long pause)....I have no idea, Kent.

Kent Brockman: Well, It has become evident in the past few moments with this very important news bulletin, that the devoted fans of Nicole Kidman can all rejoice, and feel relieved that her new upcoming film "Australia" will in fact not be a box office failure ... all thanks to the Asian markets... and to paraphrase..."Istanbul is situated in Turkey."... Indeed. We now return you to our regularly scheduled programming.

I wish Keith Urban peace and contentment. I do believe that underneath his possible pandering and
addiction issues he is still a musician of staggering
talent ( solo from "Nobody Drinks Alone" anyone.. or a host of many other things, some of them not in the too distant past.) He is in a vanilla phase... more likely than not influenced by the dogma of 12 step program and the prospect of fatherhood. I wouldn't be surprised if he takes a crack at gospel before too long. But I have faith that , even if it takes five years or something emotionally devastating happens to him ( hope not really.. ) he will be back on form. And if not... well he isn't what he was but he's still an amazing performer. It's just that he's capable of so much more.

Karolyn said...

"I and everyone else are paying him for a service everytime we buy something he puts out.....the service sucks and many people have"

He's not running a car cleaning business. He's a human being who performs, and as such he cannot always stay the same.

There are many who prefer his new music, and there are many who don't. Accept it and stop whining. My advice to you is to stop paying for his "services" if you feel you don't get what you came for. Very simple.

If I buy a piece of art I don't start a hate page if that same artist makes something new I don't like. I focus on the things I DO like. I realize that he does not owe me a thing and I'm grateful for the good experiences he gave me.

"already taken their business elsewhere....if it continues to suck, then he's going to loose the business he had built."

If you believe an artist is evolving in the wrong direction you have to accept that. You don't have to like it, but accept it, since he is not "yours", no matter how many dreams you have had about him. Wake up.

Keith doesn't live for you. He does NOT owe you anything, and you are NOT entitled to decide how he should live his life and what kind of music he should make.

As I said, this is something you will never understand.

You have no right to bully, to harass, to slander, to ridicule someone. It is just wrong, and it is destructive and also self-destructive, since you will gain absolutely nothing, just lose time, energy and peace of mind.

Accept that Keith is not part of your family, not your husband, not your brother, not someone who promised you eternal fidelity, and even if he had done that he IS allowed to fail, just like you are.

If he has failed in your eyes, focus on someone whose music you like more instead of trashing someone who really did give you something valuable and precious at one point.

"Your fooling your self if you dont think he listens to Nicole or his mgmt....he listens to them to much....he needs to go back to the drawing board, and go back to what had built him the momentum he had going into 2005."

Again, what he "needs" is NOT for you to decide. He does not owe you anything. If he listens to people in his family, and to those who are close to him, that is up to HIM.

Maybe he does not WANT to go back to 2005. Ever thought about that? I bet you didn't. You do not know him. His wants and needs are not for his fans to decide.

"You are entitled to your opinion Karolyn....but this clearly isnt a place where most people will a gree with you. We do feel owed something and that is the service we've been paying for. It's business."

I think you really need to let go of your delusional sense of entitlement. It accomplishes absolutely nothing.

I know that you mean well deep down, but enough is enough, I think.

A final note, art will never be just business. If you cannot understand the difference it is rather sad.

maclen said...

Boy..... does it also seem to you fellow urban mythbusters, that the kidman kooks seem to have spent alot of time on the couch...(No... not as in jumping on..) but in an almost analytical search for oneness and balance within ones own being... and a search for clarity in an unjust and unrighteous world almost forces the devout... or shall I say piously reverent, to cast themselves out into that dark and evil land we dare to call the blogosphere... and attempt to impart their well wishing and high mindfulness. For as someone so wise and so just has just proclaimed..."I know that you mean well deep down, but enough is enough, I think."... we must all now lay down our.......keyboards.... and ponder... and reflect upon the injustice and misconduct of our misdirected straightforwardness and unwarrented cynicism of they who are so richly deserving and unselfishly giving...And as I now repent, and so unashamedly and as undeservingly as I can, brothers and sisters... I proclaim that we must all stand together as one, for when that glorious day of salvation is finally upon us....we must all run out to our nearest movie theater to ensure that "Australia" is a hit at the box office!!! And we must all call our local radio stations now and request that the new single, "You look good in my shirt" is played nonstop until each and every living soul on the planet has heard it.... For I tell you brothers and sisters..."As God is my witness, as God is my witness they're not going to lick me! I'm going to live through this and when it's all over, I'll never be hungry again! No, nor any of my folk. If I have to lie, steal, cheat or kill! As God is my witness, I'll never be hungry again!" .....and i'll make sure to guarentee that...."I"m the king of the world!!!!!!!

Holy crap, Karolyn. You are one of the most self righteous people I've come across. It obviously gives you a sense of superiority, which you articulate so well. But man, you are annoying in your self proclaimed "truth". LOL

You don't get it, because you are blinded by the glow off the forehead of your goddess, Kidman.

Karolyn said: "You have no right to bully, to harass, to slander, to ridicule someone. It is just wrong, and it is destructive and also self-destructive, since you will gain absolutely nothing, just lose time, energy and peace of mind"

First of all, it's ludicrous to think that a blog is going to have any influence on what Keith thinks or does. You have a grandiose sense of your own influence. None of us are in this to "harass or ridicule or slander" Keith.

Second of all, this is a blog. Get hold of yourself Karolyn. Take a big breath and exhale. It's just a place where people express opinions and given this one is based in North America, we do have the right to speak our minds. Perhaps in Australia, (I'm assuming that's where you are from) you are decreed to worship the Kidman or say nothing?

Thirdly, you don't get it. Keith can choose to ignore his fans, and he also will, as "an artist" create the music he is capable of. If he loses fans in the process, so be it.

But I think he is concerned about the decline in his career and the erosion of his fan base. His appearance at the CMA Music Fest this year proves to me that he WANTS his fans to love his music and he NEEDS his fans to support him. I was glad to see him there. I've been glad to see the effort he's put in this last month or so to show some appreciation to the fans. This is what he needs to do...and it looks to me like he's knows it.

He needs to do that if he wants a sustained career. That's a fact.

You can say that he's an artist and shouldn't have to worry about 'business' matters. But the truth is that he may be an artist, but he is running a business and there's alot of money invested in it and alot of people depending on his success. If he fails to recognize that, he can make all the brilliant music he wants to, but he won't be performing it in arenas infront of 10,000+ people. He'll be back to the little bars that he used to play in when he first started out. I guess the good news is that he has Tommy's money to fall back on.

Keith Urban, the entertainer, is a marriage between his artist's creativity and the business world. If he doesn't attend to both (and right now, his creative side seems to have gone MIA too), he will disappear. That's a reality.

Are you Americans aware that Keith has very little following in Australia? With or without Nicole, none of his songs have charted well here. Keith is lucky to have you fans over there. Maybe you see something in him that we don't. Nicole at least helped him get off the drugs and sober up (even if those drugs supposedly gave him more creativity) I love this blog but give her some credit. She deserves something after a string of crap films.

First of all, it's ludicrous to think that a blog is going to have any influence on what Keith thinks or does. You have a grandiose sense of your own influence. None of us"

How so? I never said I had any influence. You ARE hoping Keith is reading this, and you know it, therefore, by definition, you are harassing him. I have read many posts which clearly indicated to me that this is the purpose, and that people here do hope he is reading this, so let us be intellectually honest.

I don't think you influence anybody, actually, despite your hopes. He has clearly shown he doesn't care for bullies, and he has plenty of kind and warm fans who don't trash him on the internet.

" are in this to "harass or ridicule or slander" Keith.

Second of all, this is a blog. Get hold of yourself Karolyn. Take a big breath and exhale. It's just a place where people express opinions and given this one is based in"

Ah, now comes the "minimize our importance" defense. That is used as soon as you try to find a justification for this, and fail.

"Oh, we don't mean any harm, we are just joking and expressing our opinions." Hypocrisy.

"North America, we do have the right to speak our minds. Perhaps in"

You know what, you do, up and until a certain point. Remember that.

There are laws against libel, slander and harassment.

I see you feel secure, and you trash someone deliberately and relentlessly, counting on the freedom of speech. The act of a coward.

"I can say whatever lies and filth I want about you since I'm protected", philosophy. Fine, use that. I prefer to be able to look myself in the mirror.

If I were you I would use the golden rule. Would I want someone else to do that to me, the things I do to him/her?

"Australia, (I'm assuming that's where you are from) you are decreed to worship the Kidman or say nothing?"

I have never indicated that I worship Nicole, and you have again no proof or indication I do. You confuse positive attitude with worship and that's really sad, in a way.

It is so foreign to you, not hating, so you don't understand anything else.

I am from Sweden, actually.

"Thirdly, you don't get it. Keith can choose to ignore his fans, and he also will, as "an artist" create the music he is capable of. If he loses fans in the process, so be it."

I understand the immense underlying bitterness here, and the false sense you have of being ignored and let down.

The danger of loving an idol, which I am sure many here have done and still do, is that you can get a false and unhealthy sense of closeness to someone that you don't know at all. I say this sincerely, and I hope at least someone sees what is going on here.

"But I think he is concerned about the decline in his career and the erosion of his fan base. His"

Maybe he is. Maybe he is concerned and maybe he is happy doing other things at this point in his life. You know, sometimes you feel the need to take a break, do other things, especially during a point in life where there are many changes.

This does NOT mean that he will not create again. I know a few artists myself. They are painters and sculptors. One of them lost inspiration for several years. He could suddenly only paint, and he used to sculpt all the time.

There was no reason for this and he never knew why. Several years later he suddenly felt inspired to sculpt, and he was so happy that he had found that again within himself.

Some artists are fickle and so is their inspiration sometimes. If you try to get off drugs and alcohol, for example, you will definitely experience a great personal change.

That's important to remember. It can take time to get back the inspiration. If it comes back it will come in time that no one can force, nor predict.

" appearance at the CMA Music Fest this year proves to me that he WANTS his fans to love his music and he NEEDS his fans to support him. I was glad to see him there. "

Of course he wants to be loved and appreciated. I think he needs that very much. I also think that excessive negativity is something that bothers him and makes him sad.

I wouldn't contribute to the pain of another, and if he ever read this blog he would be pained by it, and not return here a second time. That's what I think.

"I've been glad to see the effort he's put in this last month or so to show some appreciation to the fans. This is what he needs to do...and it looks to me like he's knows it."

Turn down the demands and you will see rewards. If he feels some of his fans are constantly being negative to him, his work and his family, he will just shut them out of his mind, I think. To protect himself from hurt.

I think it is destructive, as I said before. It doesn't help him create. It makes him insecure and unhappy if he's sensitive.

"He needs to do that if he wants a sustained career. That's a fact."

Again, you sound so hard and commanding. Relax a little, let him settle in his new "suit" and let him find his way. Be a little more flexible. You cannot say "I want you the way you were in 2005, period!" to any artist. That's ludicrous and contra productive.

"You can say that he's an artist and shouldn't have to worry about 'business' matters. But the truth is that he may be an artist, but he is running a business and there's alot of money invested in it and alot of people depending on his success. If he fails to recognize"

Again, the same commanding and threatening tone. This does NOT work? Don't YOU get it?

It's like telling your husband who has an erection problem "if you do not perform tonight the way you did on our honeymoon you are finished, out!" Would that produce something?

"that, he can make all the brilliant music he wants to, but he won't be performing it in arenas infront of 10,000+ people. He'll be back to the little bars that he used to play in when he first started out. I guess the good news is that he has Tommy's money to fall back on."

I don't think he will starve. If he creates/performs again it will be because he wants to, and because he can.

Keith Urban, the entertainer, is a marriage between his artist's creativity and the business world.

Then the business world will have to take a backseat for a while. You may think that's the end of the world. Maybe others think differently.

Ha... so the orb is out riding chesney's coattails in hopes of boistering his regurgitated single... funny how riding underwoods coattails did ziltch for G-hits... as last I checked, both underwood and chesney still have a cd in the top ten of the C- charts... or so last I checked... let me check again....yeah, underwood is #4 and chesney is #6. Meanwhile G-hits has slipped off the side of the planet. What the hell is urban still doing piggybacking on contenders? It must be the terrible habit he picked up from kidman...simply remain out there despite having no commericial or viable product... even when all around you it is plainly desolute or obviously unwanted, stay on the scene... nothing like a musican who overstays their welcome playing that last same song over and over again... and over again. And kidman seems to have fallen off the face of the earth as well, pretty strange, given her need for the warmth and no doubt comfort of the limelight...which simply reinforces the notion that she is off prepping for a role and will be back to work almost immediately after dropping the kid off to the staff of nannies to raise. The glare of the camera lens waits for no one, least of all newborns...

don't believe the lies said...

I don't think Keith owes me anything. I got off that train a long time ago. I think he owes it to himself to get his career back on track. It's just sad and pathetic to me to think that here's this guy with so much charisma and talent and it just seems to be going to waste. Keith Urban could have been great.

Also someone said to give Nicole credit for getting Keith clean and sober?!?! Huh? I highly doubt it was her idea for him to go to rehab. Hell she only visited him a few times and of course they were all for photo ops. He's in a me, me, me situation and the me isn't him. Can't feel sorry for him though, he did this all on his own.

maclen said...

...ps ... well it seems I spoke too soon, as there seems to be just released new pics of the traveling pr campaign... and amazingly, their low key and demure claims of hoping to keep there "marriage" as "private" as possible is dashed by those amazingly pesky paparatz... they were amazinly able to catch the lovebirds "making out"... on the side of the street... in front of their prenatal hospital, (kidman made sure to get the "pregnancy" nod into the photo, of course) Hey man, go get a room you too... oh wait, that wouldnt be any good for them, no one could "see" them there.

CJ said...

"Nicole at least helped him get off the drugs and sober up."

Keith got himself off drugs once long before NK came into his life. He didn't need her help to battle addiction even though she would love to take all the credit. Keith said in at least one interview that "I drink, sometimes I get drunk, but it isn't a problem. It doesn't make me want to do drugs again."

Ironically it became a problem after she came into his life. I don't credit her with "helping him with his addictions or saving him", I credit her for driving him to drink and making his addiction problems worse.

I stick by my theory that NK made him go to rehab in an attempt to cover her pasty you know what and keep the Amanda story from getting too much press. She thought going to rehab would wipe Amanda's story out of the news. She didn't escort him to Betty Ford, she visited him twice (once with photographers in tow), and she hoped rehab would give KU an excuse why he would cheat on her with Amanda even though they weren't married yet - he was drunk and/or high at the time. With friends like NK who needs enemies.

So, did she pull Keith away from rehearsal Friday before his Fan Fair concert to go to the dr with her or is she so special she gets weekend appointments? (He was in AR Thurs.) If she were trying to be private and sneaking in and out of the dr's office outside office hours I'd understand but that's obviously not the case.

Hey doublewide, thanks.... glad to see you on the thread... yeah this place was getting swamped all the way up to, according to cj, the orbs unflattering wedgie...with the mundane and tedious, and not to mention the seemingly endless droning of point and counter point of every word, comma or intended or unintended insinuation or accusation... which is contrary to the implied truth of the aforementioned and contrarian kidman kooks... oh the humanity!
So Ive just spent my time amusing myself! Boy, just went back to see those photos again cj, jesus.. cant kidman dress the orb more presentable? Gossip girl site must be on the kidman leak list... just saw a whole weeks worth of arrainged baby bump pics there:

http://www.celebrity-gossip.net/celebrities/hollywood/nicole-kidman-and-keith-urban-nashville-lovers-204822/

funny how the bump seems to change size from series to series... day to day....

CJ said...

I started at the uk site, then hit Jared and Gossip Girls. I assume all three are on Kidman's payroll. Why leak 3 days at once instead of a day at a time? I guess it's cheaper. I love how they are trying to pass Kidman's assistant off as Keith's mom. As if we wouldn't know the difference! Why would Keith take his lawyer to an obgyn check up?

In topic related news... Country's newest artist, Jessica Simpson, boasts the highest charting new song: "Come On Over" (no, not the Shania Twain tune). It emerges at No. 41 and Keith Urban's "You Look Good in My Shirt" returns to the singles list at No. 42.

CJ said...

Just saw the People leak - her pr hacks have been busy! Must have just returned from a vacation and are catching up on neglected work.

"On the hot night in Nashville (temperatures were in the 90s), (But NK was seen wearing long sleeves in several picture from last week) Nicole Kidman remained out of sight, but not out of Urban's mind.

Backstage, the singer told reporters, "I love having her with me when I tour, but at the same time, it's work. You don't want to ask too much of your family." And as for bringing baby on the road, he said: "We'll just have to see what works for us."

So Keith's mum can go out on tour with him more than once and for extended time periods but it's work for his wife (who has yet to ride even one night on the tour bus) to go out on tour with him? It's asking too much of his wife but not his mum to join him on tour? Who thinks up this crazy drivel?

Karolyn-
I have a hard time responding to you when I feel like whatever I say goes right over your head.....I can tell from your responses to people you're reading what you want to read and not what we're saying.
Should Keith go back to 05...no that would be counter productive.....what he was doing in05 might not go over very well right now....but it seems to many he went backward and not forward in terms of creativity. We are entitled to think that....I happen to LOVE Josh Gracin.....I thought he was amazing and incredibly talented....he took a very long break and the cd he came out with recently isnt as good as I think he could have done. I didnt buy it....that doesnt mean I dont like Josh Gracin, and that doesnt mean I wont continue to follow his career....I think he has great talent. Same applies to Keith....I dont like a lot of what he's put out there over the last few years....Im not saying I dont like it all, there have been things I questioned or didnt like, but there have also been things I liked. I still as a whole like Keith and will continue to follow his career until I dont anymore. I'll be the one to decide when the time is right to move on.
You have leveled some pretty harsh accusations ("bully, harass, slander, ridicule.") All of which could be said back to you based on your response to people.
I happen to sleep very well at night, and I can also look at myself in the mirror. I'd be willing to say anything I've said here to Keith's face. I think he values any opinion and would listen to anything anyone said to him and know just how to respond. He may think Im totally off base and may tell me so, he may think I have some vaild points and tell me so.....I've personally had plenty of conversations with Keith in which we talked about good and bad....trust me he can handle it and has.
Lastly, so you dont live in the US huh....music is a business here, there are certain things that have to be done to make it as a musician in this country. I know plenty of incredibly talented people playing bars in Nashville right now who could be bigger than the biggest but they are not willing to change who they are for the business. They are happy just making music and playing for their fans, I think there was a time Keith had that, I think that was when Keith was at his best, but at some point in time he decided he wanted more, unfortunetly for him his plan to get more professionally is not working out for him.
I wish the best for him and Nicole....I'd never wish any ill-will on any couple bringing a child into this world. If Keith looked me in the eyes and said...trust me I am 100% happy with the path I am on right now, everything in my life is as perfect as can be, I am writting the music I want to write and this is the me I want to be." I would say Im so happy for you, that is all I ever wanted. I just dont believe that is where he is.
Oh yeah and Karolyn I have no delusions about Keith, nor do I for one minute fantasize about him. He's a perfomer, an artist but he's also a human being one who in the past has been incredibly open with "fans." He opened himself up to some fans who in turn opened themsevles up to him. None of them would say they know him but those times spent with him have caused some hurt feelings when those doors have been shut with no explanation. So what you interpret as delusional, or fantasy land could very well be someone you did have a realtionship with Keith beyond just being a fan. Dont believe everything you read but dont dismiss it all either.

what's crazy, cj, is they think we actually buy it....

Hey doublewide, you should go check out the photos of the weeks worth of kidman's baby bump photo ops over at DListed... could the highlighted photo of an "expecting" kidman be the most unattractive and unappealing pic of a pregnant woman you've ever seen? So these photo's are supposed to garner her positive media hype? Well, all I can say is... she is damn lucky her career is dead and over...from the bald head look, hair pulled and tied back, and the glare of light reflecting off her pasty pale skin is blinding, not to mention the overly taut and stretched out skin on her face and neck, right down to her guant and hollowed out collar bones...Ive seem more elasticity in cadavers... looks like the breast implants are still in place, but her breasts are the exact same size they were when she had them implanted... guess this kid will not benefit from any mothers milk... so nannies, stock up on formula... lots of formula. And that pose...her left "claw' clutching on to that bottle of water, and her right hand, feeling up her own ass, or is she actually scratching it? Ohh, how very appealing... a pure vision of stunning and beautiful motherhood... I actually sense from the general viewing public a resounding and univeral BLECK!... now I'm sure I may be accused of criticising how she looks for personal amusement...(and I am!)... but what I'm actually doing is "critiquing' a public figures attempt to manufacture an appealing or postitive image to further enhance her public relations in order to broaden her public appeal.. and by my simple deductions, she is failing miserably.

Karolyn~ Let's clear the air here. Your a fricken' blow hard moron!

That said..

Who gives a shit what and where Keith reads. Most people here are just venting or sharing their opinions. Get over yourself.

And art is not business? If the asshole can refer to what he does as "his job", "his work" it's pretty safe to declare it's a business.

Fact is..for his business to prosper he NEEDS us. We don't need him AT ALL! I don't need one person as a fan to pay my bills. That is fact.

And how hilarious it is that you consider posts here as bullying Keith LMAO!

He needs to put on his big boy pants or get the hell out of the playground.

The fact is that no one needs a group of fanatics who are destructive, delusional, believe in fantasy stories that his wife is carrying a pillow, and who won't accept the truth that he is married, and happy to be married and to be having a child, even TEN years from now. THAT is the truth.

This sad little group is a very small one, in a bigger perspective, and you don't matter financially. People who see this site and Anna's bully site quickly see them for what they are, hate pages created by a few obsessed individuals who are in a serious state of denial.

Karolyn said...

"willing to say anything I've said here to Keith's face. I think he values any opinion and would listen to anything anyone said to him and know just how to respond. He may think Im totally off base and may

You may have valid opinions, I don't doubt that, but the problem is that you chose a hate page to write them on, so they will not be taken into account, most likely.

Keith, or any other normal, feeling human being, does NOT appreciate a site such as this one. Open aggression, ridiculing, slander, spreading false rumors, mocking, writing vicious things about his wife and himself, is not something he would appreciate, nor value.

Constructive advice and opinions that are unbiased and free from malice are always welcome. That's the last thing he is going to get here. The overall tone is extremely negative.

As I said, Keith would probably visit this page once and never again, since people writing here let their underlying aggression and deep hatred of his wife override everything else. There is hardly anything constructive and meaningful written here that would help him.

This site tells him, "we hate your wife and we intend to hurt her any way we can, and we detest your new music and we intend to laugh at you, bully you and mock you.

He would be a fool to continue reading this.

"Lastly, so you dont live in the US huh....music is a business here, there are certain things that have to be done to make it as a musician in this country. I know plenty of"

One thing I know, genuine and really great art can never be a slave to business. It can never be forced, or have money as the sole or primary motive. It won't stand the test of time.

"incredibly talented people playing bars in Nashville right now who could be bigger than the biggest but they are not willing to change who they are for the business. They are happy just making music and playing for their fans, I think there was a time Keith had that, I"

You cannot say he is changing simply because of business. There could be many reasons. I see his former drug- and alcohol addiction as a possible link to his inspiration.

If that's the truth it's sad. The truth is that inspiration is often linked to abuse and to mental pain and suffering. I hope he will find a new way to find inspiration.

" think that was when Keith was at his best, but at some point in time he decided he wanted more,"

I think he decided he wanted something different, not necessarily more. He didn't want to be an addict and he wanted to be a husband and family man, and at the same time be able to create good music.

That is the balance I think he is trying to find. If he has to choose I doubt he would choose his career over his family.

I think he will be very loyal and committed once he settles down. Everything I have seen so far points in that direction right now.

Karolyn said....Constructive advice and opinions that are unbiased and free from malice are always welcome.
-----------------------------------
How can an opinion be ubiased? People can say "This is my unbiased opinion" but that's BS. An opinion is always a personal belief, otherwise it's fact. If one knows nothing about either side of a situation, and forms an opinion, that's not being unbiased, it's ignorance about the situation. If someone knows something about one side or the other, then there is ALWAYS bias.
-----------------------------------
"This site tells him, "we hate your wife and we intend to hurt her any way we can, and we detest your new music and we intend to laugh at you, bully you and mock you."
-----------------------------------
Here again, you are WRONG! Those who know me know that I've ALWAYS said I do not hate her, nor do I hate anyone. I don't detest his music and I don't bully him. I laugh only at his haircut, as I would laugh if my husband got the same. I am a true skeptic and have been around on a skeptics board since the beginning when they met. One can be very skeptical without feeling hatred. I don't generalize that all non-skeptics are "bunnies" and you shouldn't do the same.

wastedemotion said...

Karolyn-
We're just gonna have to agree to disagree....I personally see it different.
And I want to echo what init said....there are a lot of us that are skeptical of the relationship Keith has with Nicole but we dont hate her, we dont hate him and we dont hate his music. Do we sometimes laugh at some things he does, sure but that doesnt make us mean....I laugh at people everyday and people laugh at me....try it sometimes laughter is often the best medicine.
Also if it pains you so much to read this stuff why bother....isnt that self-destructive?

Wow, some interesting issues coming up over the last few posts. I forgot Nicole was born in the USA. That makes me feel alot better as an Australian. We dont really have to try to clain here. Problem is, her parents are Australian so she can sort of call herself an Aussie. Bummer! As for all the toxins flying around in Nic and Keith's bodies from years of drugs or botox, I do wonder if this could be passed on to the little lad AKA Keith Junior. I also noticed some comments on "In the Cut" which Nicole financed, but changed her mind on starring in. I read it was because the script demanded a leading woman with lips bigger than Jagger's ... At the time, only Meg Ryan qualified. I understand that Nic has now taken over as the biggest lips in Hollyweird (with Melanie Griffith a close second). By the way, does anybody know when Melanie's blog will be starting? She'd be great fun to comment on! Trailer trash indeed.
