Kidman Wants a Farm and a Goat

NICOLE Kidman has revealed in an intimate interview on US TV her desire to be "barefoot and pregnant", and own a farm and a goat.

The Australian actress spoke guardedly about her marriage to Keith Urban, his struggles in rehab, her fear about death, her sexual repression and her hope to own a goat.

Kidman's appearance came on a new show produced by talk show queen Oprah Winfrey who pairs up famous best friends to interview each other.

Kidman was supposed to interview Russell Crowe, but ended up being interviewed by him, and in another segment Julia Roberts interviewed George Clooney.

With no question apparently off limits, including Urban's three-month stint in rehab, Crowe and Kidman peppered each other with personal questions.

"So, how is Keith doing?'' Crowe asked. "Keith is doing very well,'' Kidman replied.”We've been through a lot.''

When Crowe began to ask another question, Kidman stopped him. "Let me finish that because that will be seen as a superficial answer and I don't like to give those.''

Kidman continued to then give a very superficial answer, "We've dug really deep. Three months into our marriage we had to dig really deep and that's what we are doing and we are in the process of doing that.'' How about saying that you actually love him and really want to try to work things out. Why not say, Keith is the love of my life and we are so very happy and determined to have a successful marriage. How about just, “I love my husband deeply”?

Crowe also questioned Kidman about her plans to have a child. "Am I going to have a baby? I hope so,'' Kidman said.

Crowe then asked whether Kidman would have the child naturally, or adopt. "Are you going to carry a baby?'' Crowe asked. Kidman, 39, looked extremely uncomfortable, but replied: "Yes, I would hope so.'' "

Well, I just want to see you walk around barefoot and pregnant,'' Crowe said."I'd like to see that too,'' Kidman smiled. What about the two kids you adopted, Nicole? How often do you see them? Are you a good mother to them?

Crowe also asked Kidman if she liked to love or be loved? "I suppose that's been my big struggle because I love to love and I think the most difficult thing is allowing yourself to be loved,'' Kidman answered. "So, receiving the love and feeling like you deserve it is a pretty big struggle and I suppose that's what I've learned just recently is to allow myself to be loved.'' Did your father give you that line, Nicole?

Kidman also delved into Crowe's life, asking him if he was ticklish. "Extremely ticklish,'' Crowe said.

Kidman then said: "You know what they say about people who are ticklish?''

"They laugh a lot?'' Crowe said.

Kidman replied: "No, because I'm very ticklish too. Sexually repressed. Let's move off that.'' Well then why did you bring it up if you didn’t want to talk about it, Nicole? How do you think that makes your new husband feel?

Kidman also told how a near fatal accident in a helicopter flying back from Mexico had changed her outlook on life.

"It was in that moment when we were all going 'This could be the moment when we die' and I always thought the moments before I died I'd be terrified, but I went into this state of calmness,'' Kidman said. "That's when I realized my conscience was clear and that I had managed to purge myself of all the things that had weighed so heavy on me and that's when I realized I wasn't so afraid of death.'' Is your conscience clear about what you have done to your husband in the short time you have known him? Is your conscience clear that you are making your husband put his career on hold so that he fetch you water and ice cream on your movie set when he should be touring and making music, because that is what makes him happy? Is your conscience clear about marrying another man when you are still in love with your first husband and even admitted that a few months ago?

The actress also revealed how she was planning to buy a farm with Urban in Nashville. "We are going to get a farm and I really want a goat,'' Kidman said. Who are you kidding? Do you think people actually believe that? You haven’t even set foot in Nashville in months.

"A goat?'' a surprised Crowe said.

"I just kind of have this thing where I'd like to have a goat,'' Kidman continued, adding that she would use it to make cheese.

"I guarantee you; you'll need more than one goat,'' Crowe laughed.

I saw this interview and to be honest, from the beginning you could tell it was set up so they had a chance to address certain things.

Kidman's job was to reveal what a softy old Russel is...cause he hasn't got that soft reputation, does he? So have NK reveal to the world that Rusty isn't such a bad guy and hopefully, that'll help to improve his image. Well done, NK.

NK wanted to make sure everyone knows that she is such a loving and supportive wife and mother. Of course, the public wonders how she can be such a loving mother if she doesn't actually see her kids and only mothers them via web cam.

So...we now know she remembers their names, ages and has at least one characteristic for each of them. Mission accomplished.

The wife thing was a bit tougher though. She looked pretty uncomfortable on that one and when Rusty started asking too many questions, well, she got somewhat defensive. After all, the intent of the interview was NOT to take the focus off NK...and all of a sudden Rusty was saying all those nice things about Keith. Poor NK..she had to take drastic steps to get the focus back on her. But in the end, it's great to know they're diggin' deep...diggin' deep. Yep...and who'd have thought she wanted to milk a goat and make cheese.

Such a revealing interview...not.

It was so staged ...to show NK as a warm, motherly, supportive wife. And lots of people were totally sucked in. You gotta give her credit for having some of the best "spin" doctors in the business.

I can't get pass the goat and the farm. Hahahahah....seriously who in the hell could see Nicole on a farm with her goats? That would mean she would have to get dirty and we can't have that now can we? She needs to stop pretending that she's just a normal gal who wants to be loved. We ain't buying it!

She is such a self absorbed individual.

Oh come on now.

Don't you all know by now that NK is just a down home country gal?

She shops at Target, the "so middle Tennessee" Bed, Bath, and Beyond, rides horses, and now is buying a farm and planning on making goat chesse with her one goat.

Doesn't that sound soooo Nicole? Doesn't it sound soooo country? Doesn't it just make you go, "gee, she's just like us!"?

Well, if I didn't know any better, I'd say she was acting out the perfect role.

Oh wait. She is.

And she's doing just as crappy a job as she does in her films.

I'm not buying it.

I can't even believe Oprah was in on that. Even Oprahs dialogue between interviews was weird and awkward.

The whole thing just came off staged, rehearsed and fake.

I'm annoyed that this is the crap they think America wants to watch.

I have to admit, the interview was pretty much a waste of time. It only made her look more of a idiot. That goat thing really was to much. There is no way in hell I can see her milking a goat, let alone living on a farm. I don't think I can even see Keith living on a farm for that matter. Unless of course, they have a staff of farm hands to do all the dirty work.

I was actually felt embarrassed for her during that interview.

I was quite surprised any of that crap made it to air. Did anyone catch the part where she said "should I bring him in?" like Keith was in the other room during the filming? Was that done during one of their weekend conjugal visits? And oh yes, they dug deep - like what? a foot or two? That interview revealed absolutely NOTHING about the two of them - unlike the Julia Roberts/George Clooney interview that revealed TONS about their personalities. Is it possible that that IS the contrast Oprah was going for? I'm not even counting the third interview because that had absolutely nothing to do with what was marketed.

Maybe someone needs to cook that goat and feed it to her. She's about ready for a Dr. Phil segment on anorexia. You can see every bone in her body. She is not a healthy weight at all.

How easy for Nicole to label her children with such generic characteristics!

Since she is apparently digging really deep, Nicole, why don't you dig a deep hole and crawl in it?

Oprah, Barbra Walters, Diane Sawyer, etc. will never have to worry about having their interviewing jobs taken over by you. I guess my advice to you is to not give up your day job - even though you do a pathetic job of acting as well!

She is sexually repressed?? She didn't seem that way with Tom when they filmed Eyes Wide Shut. Seriously I wonder how much she even loves Keith. She doesn't even brag about him, or show him off. She doesn't even acknowledge him on the red carpet, but makes him stay backstage? I didn't see any other couples "acting" like they weren't married.

Is Oprah completely racist or what? I love how she paired the whitey with the whitey, the African-American with the African-American, and the Aussie with the Aussie.

"February 26, 2007 3:04 PM Is Oprah completely racist or what?"

Totally. How can anyone ignore that after this show? The fact that she showed up at the Foxx/Poitier interview and made it all about being black and isn't it interesting that she saved it for last? I think she needs to be called on the carpet for this one. She's lost a lot of credibility in my book.

I wonder which dress she will use for when she tends her goat!
I am not sure if she was trying to be funny or not! She did seem to get a bit snippy when Russell started talking about Keith. (shaking head)

I think it's Vera Wang for goats...but if you have piggies, well you tend them in Versace.

Yep...she didn't want to take the focus off her and her down to earth country girl personna. She's so "earthed" it hurts. Well, why would a newlywed want to talk about her new husband, anyway?

What would it take to just simply believe? I mean you'd have to go deep in your black hearts, but just suspend believe for just a moment. Just, you know belive that people choose to keep their lives private. It's not like Nicole was ever screaming from the rooftops yelling "I'm in LOVE with Tom Cruise!"
And Eyes Wide Shut was a movie people, not real life. A movie that was horrible from beginning to end and NOT because of Nicole but really because of Tom. Hell it killed Stanley Kubrick for cryin out loud.

Ah, whatever. You'll believe what you want to believe. But I don't see any of you calling Julia Roberts marriage fake or Shania Twain. They don't bring their husbands to any award shows. It's not their thing. Maybe, Keith isn't a movie star, maybe he's taking it one day at a time and believes this is HER thing, not his.

you need to take a good long look at NK in pics with tom and in pics with keith.....doesn't take a very bright person to figure it out. and it's a bit much to blame kubrick's death on tom.

i will never ever believe that NK has any agenda for ANYONE, but her own selfish self

Talk about comparing apples and oranges....

Did Julia & Shania marry public figures? NO. They both married people who are not in the limelight and don't wish to live their lives in the limelight. Their is no comparison to Keith & Nicole to these other two couples as both Keith & Nicole are highly public figures.

As for calling Julia or Shania's marriage fake, at least when they talk about their marriages you know it's real. They don't hide the fact that they are married, they don't run from it at every turn and are not embarrased by it - seems to me that Keith & Nicole are.

Why do you insist that Keith is this HUGE public figure? And for the record Mutt Lange has to be THE MOST FAMOUS of ALL producers in rock n roll today. So, him not attending a music awards show with his wife is a bit strange to me.

Tom & Nicole were both in the same business and you have to factor that in to your thoughts. Keith is not a movie star. And maybe, JUST MAYBE he didn't want to walk the carpet because he didn't feel like answering the same freakin' questions OVER & OVER AGAIN! I know I would be sick of answering "So Keith, how's rehab?". I know you all watched the morning shows, the questions are mirrors of each other and would be the same on the red carpet.

Quit comparing Tom & Nicole to Keith & Nicole. Understand that each relationship that you're in changes. The person you are doesn't change, but how you deal with things, communicate and handle situations together is a different beast.

And it is fair to blame Tom for Eyes Wide Shut. Have you seen that crap?

No, honestly I didn't. When it came on I shut my eyes!!

With the exception of one movie that I know of - Bewitched, Nicole has been in movies that are dark and depressing. I think that's her persona on screen and off. I hope she doesn't bring Keith down because frankly, I think she's quite depressing.

Truth be told I would never blame Tom or Nicole for Eyes Wide Shut and the personal fallout from that movie. Stanley Kubrick totally controlled that situation and I believe he knew fully well what & how it would play out in Tom & Nicole's lives. I believe this movie was the catalyst for the end of their marriage.

Pratical Magic ~ great flick
My Life ~ with Micheal Keaton. A real positive great movie.
To Die For ~ A really funny movie and based somewhat on a true story.
Days of Thunder ~ loved this movie for many reasons. "Let me outta the car Cole, Let me outta the Car!"

I agree that most of her movies are dark & after searching IMDB there aren't that many that I've actually seen. Who knew.

But that Eyes Wide Shut had alot of back talk after it was released and bombed. Kubrick blamed it on Tom for trying to control too much of the filming and it lost sight of it's orginial path.

Quote:
R. Lee Ermey, the actor who played the menacing drill instructor in Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket (1987), controversially claimed that Kubrick phoned him two weeks before the director's death to express his despondency over the film. "He told me it was a piece of shit," Ermey said in an interview with the online Radar magazine, "and that he was disgusted with it and that the critics were going to have him for lunch. He said Cruise and Kidman had their way with him -- exactly the words he used." Ermey did not explain what he thought Kubrick may have meant by the expression, except to remark, "He was kind of a shy little timid guy. He wasn't real forceful. That's why he didn't appreciate working with big, high-powered actors. ... He would lose control." End Quote

You rarely even see a picture of Mutt Lange, let alone attending a public function with his wife or anyone one else. He IS an exceptionally private person and has been even before meeting Shania.

Re: 1:15 pm, I fully believe that Stanley Kubrick was distressed over Eyes Wide Shut, but that the fault lay equally with him, as much as with Tom & Nicole. I wouldn't spend my money (or time) on that crap, but I did read about the making of the movie. For more on this, check out her biography by David Thomson.

About Nicole, often what is not said is as telling as what is, for ex. she starred in Stepford Wives with Faith Hill, a talented singer, actress and country music 'wife' herself, which would lead one to suppose that given their history and their husbands (who are friends) Nicole would be one of Faith's BFFs. And perhaps they do interact, but in public? Nicole is only seen with her sister or Naomi Watts. Where Faith is concerned, the silence is deafening.

I'll tell you this much...the need Nicole Kidman has for media attention and fame, and what she is willing to do to get it and keep it...is beyond anything that the rest of us could understand. And that may be the undoing of Keith.

Seems like there's been a lot of silence from Keith's old friends in Nashville? Makes you wonder who is distancing them self from who.

Am I the only one who noticed that NK didn't just ask Russell questions, but answered them herself too? It was like she asked him questions SHE wanted to answer. She cut him off more than once to wave that nasty hand around and talk. I was surprised she didn't look directly into the camera doing so instead of over at him.

The fur sure bristled when he talked about Keith. He was totally respectful, but she couldn't have the conversation NOT be about her now could she. The whole "want me to bring him in" was a cheap shot, yet got everyone to believe he was backstage waiting until they were done...and I doubt he was even in the state.

Even Russell didn't look like he was buying all the "la dee dah" crap coming out of her mouth. He seemed to be trying to keep from laughing at times.

Ms Kidman was openly disrespectful toward Faith Hill in a panel interview about Stepford Wives. There is no love lost between them. Kidman was her usual arrogant self, rolling her eyes and generally playing the superior superstar role during the press conference. Not exactly what you'd think of as a supportive co-worker. But there were many reports of her not getting along with other cast mates on that production.

This was so scripted it was not funny. Did you see the look on her face when russell told her what she was going to do to get that cheese. And she would need more that one goat. The look on her face was so priceless, she did not have a clue!!!!!
