The Muse Speaks, Part Two

Dear Keith,

Thank you so much for trying to get me back into your world. I really appreciate all the time and attention that you have sent my way. It’s wonderful to know you actually care about me.

Reluctantly, I decided to limit my time with you to only a few live gigs. I wanted to see how you would react during a live performance. Much to my surprise, you were genuinely happy to have me with you and it showed. Your long time fans noticed how “in” to the music you were, almost like the Keith they remember and long for. And for a moment, I forgot you are “new, improved and clean cut” too.

I know you have read the reviews from your gigs in Australia and you have to be disappointed. I am. There was a time that being compared to “processed cheese on white bread” would have kicked up the fighter in you and sent you straight to your writing zone. Is this truly what you wanted - to be lumped into the bucket with Air Supply and Ronald McDonald? Oz has been the brass ring that you just can’t seem to catch but are those who think your music is “synthetic and anonymous” worth all this?

I tried to warn you that the music on the Pain CD was below your creative abilities. It’s no secret that the music on that record took a strange turn and has not lived up to the expectations but you know that, right?

“His sound is too smooth and generic to inspire.” Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

C’mon Keith. WAKE UP!

Step away from the sideshow and change the things that are within your reach to change. I am so ready to take on this fight with you but yet…where are you?

Love,
Your Muse

So what if there were one or two unfavorable reviews out of his entire Aussie gigs this year? Every artist gets some unfavorable reviews during the course of their careers.

Australia did honor Keith and his Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing album with the 2007 Aria award for Best Country Album!

Yeah, no Aussie love for the orb either, huh Urban Myths? Well I think I'll just repost my last comment from the last thread, since it easily fits into this one, and I just relish highlighting the orb's tumbly from fan favor...
...So, in this weeks country chart action watch, it seems my prediction of last week that urban's cd would fall down the charts into the 20s before he got back to the US did in fact occur. The orb's G-HIts cd fell 4 spots from # 16 last week to #20... meanwhile the orbs headliner, underwoods cds... carnival ride fell one spot from #3 to #4...and previous cd, Some hearts fell from #7 to #10...still, remarkably with 2 cds in the top 10. So, is urban even picking up any new fans from the dominate underwood's fan base? Looks like he's not, and interestingly obvious... losing even more of his own.

receiving an award for cd that never quite made it, as in the ARIA's. how much competition did the man have?

maclen is spot on with his reports of keith's cd's dropping steadily, and it appears, even carrie, cannot save him.

and may i add EXCELLENT EXCELLENT BLOG! kudos to the writer.

Yes doublewide, the theme of urban's "muse" is always hysterical... considering that his new "muse' obviously now has to be kidman, his cd and chart action shows a real breakdown in popularity and quality. Given the fact that urban subtitled the G-hits cd "Kids"... as in reference to his "kids" makes the pitiful sales of it pretty telling. And the obvious implied connection of the cd to his actual expected kid is also very telling, seems his fans have no interest in either...which is also a bad sign for kidmans hope for a career "bump" as a result of it. Tying your boat to a dead weight is one thing, but allowing yourself to get rammed by that "iceberg" (kidman) certainly makes urban the "Titanic", and that drop was catastophic.

What arrogance to pretend to be his muse in a blog. Its lauaghable. Ive read the reviews. One of the critics was upset because his picks didnt get to play but Keith did. Boo hoo. Keith will never be a darling with the critics there because he is not "Aussie country". Its different from American country and different from the kind of music Keith plays. He knows that and he's not going to change his music for anybody. Go listen to Slim Dusty, Lee Kernaghan, Adam Harvey, Beccy Cole and you'll know what i mean.

IMO he changed his music when he put out that pain cd. it tanked, and maclen is correct.....he hit the "iceberg" kidman and sank.

it's rumored he's gonna do Raise the Barn on the cmt award show with ronnie dunn. one of the few (and maybe the only) song on the cd that isn't pop.

a very safe choice for urban since it is about country music.

the day he first listened to that stupid, pathetic woman sealed his fate.

i think he saw her as his ticket to being loved and accepted by his own people musically.

oh the irony

It seems Nic is going back to work. TWO months after the baby's rumored delivery date in July. Since the baby (and nannies) will be with Nic wherever the movie is filmed this means either 1. Keith only sees "his" kid when he takes tour breaks to go see the beautiful beautiful ones or 2. His career ends completely and the only "touring" he will be doing is from one movie set to another to follow Kidman around and raise the child himself (If she allows him to). Pathetic pathetic pathetic.

Isn't maternity leave for us normal people 3 months? Or is it six weeks? I don't know. I do know Nicole can afford to never work another day in her life (a position many moms would kill for to be able to stay home with their kids) and she's choosing to go back to work in two months. Heaven please have mercy on that poor child.

With her pathelogical and obbsessive workouts, CJ, it was certainly clear that she has no intention of taking anytime off of getting back to what she loves and lives for most... being in front of the camera. There will certainly not be any more time than is nessessary from that... there certainly will not be, say for example, michelle pfeifer's example of taking 5 or 6 yrs off of movie making to concentrate on her kids... kidman is too neurotically insecure to stay away from the glitter of the spotlights of film sets, talk show sets and the mag covers... there isnt any time for the old kids... let alone for the new one, who will simply be another prop for her tired photo ops.

A musician should be able to play HIS music - what he enjoys and lives for. If there is an audience that enjoys his music the same way, he should work for that audience instead of trying to kiss the ass of the audience that doesn't care for his sound. I undestand this is his home country, but if they can't enjoy his music for the sound he likes to play, then appreciate the audience that does enjoy your music! How long will he continue to hit his head against a brick wall?

I don't disagree. Why do you think she really dropped out of the Reader? It obviously was NOT a concern over stress - strenuous exercise is more stressful than sitting on a film set and occasionally filming for a few hours a day. As little as she's grown I don't think the pregnancy would have been an issue. They were SO accommodating, waiting and working the film schedule around her. Was she really just being a selfish diva b!tch grasping at straws to get out of her contract or did something happen?

don't know if we'll ever know for sure, but i think she got fired from The Reader.....maybe they got tired of waiting around or maybe they realized she's box office poison.

i think that's why she announced the pregnancy so early....to take the attention off of The Reader.

Thats certainly possible, DW... and given her non PR of The Invasion, which bombed magnificantly, I'm sure the producers of the Reader may have figured she was not worth any effort to keep on. With the news she's signed onto another film for this sept...(which i basically dont believe, being that i beleive she is not as far along in her "pregnancy" as is being put out..) her long list of up coming scheduled or rumored films which are at about 6 to 7, will never see the light of a movie theater...certainly the films she is supposedly to "produce" and star in will never make it to actual production. As a failed film hasbeen, she is really into the "dealmaking" and the news headlines... but judging by her sole and single produced movie, all these projects in so called production are simply DOA... again, will never see the light of a film projecter... let alone film stock in a movie camera.

Probably true and I hope you are right. If any of her stinkers get printed they are in the "straight to DVD" mode. I don't think any studio can afford to waste so much money paying her that ridiculous salary to net very little profit.

Thanks for keeping watch on the country chart action too.

I wish his muse would just wake him up already!!!

No, he saw her as his ticket to reaching what he considered to be successful - which is touring when you WANT TO and not because you HAVE TO. That was goal according to tons of interviews he's done over the years.

She did not drop out of The Reader - she was "let go"

While Australia was running over schedule, their first choice actress (Kate) became available and, given Nicole's very recent history & publicity over her new "box office poison" title, they saw it as an opportunity to re-cast the actress they wanted to cast in the first place.

Nicole was the 3rd choice for The Reader.

===============================

you're right, i've heard him say this several times. well, i guess the idiot got what he wanted. but he's got a ton of baggage with that wish.

and AHA!!! thank you for clearing up The Reader incident! so "our nic" was 3rd choice huh? i'm surprised she ranked that high. hee

i'd also like to thank maclen (along with banbotox) for keeping us apprised of the cd sales and charts.

I have been a reader of this blog for quite a while.... and agree with most postings, but what bothers me is that he is continually touring. He is PHENOMINAL in concert....he gives his all in his performances, but I can not wait for him to get back to the studio and write some new songs. Maybe after NK has the baby? I LOVE LP&TWCT album, but am ready for something NEW! Maybe he doesn't want to be around her so he will tour as long as he can? You know how she is now....wait until she has the baby!

Hey, banbotox and doublewide... just wanted to say your very welcome for the updates... like I always said, this is a very real and tangible indication that urban is doomed to fade because of kidman. All else is relative and matters of opinion. I'm sure it will be hilarious come next week to see his slippage...
